Hyperion upgrade from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2

Hi ,
We are in process of upgarding Hyperion Systeme 9.3.1 version to Latest version 11.1.2 . Please let me know what will be the steps involved in upgarde of the System 9 .We have around 3 planning applications and 4 standalone cubes.
Kindly clarify me on the below
1. During the upgrade will all the Objects like webforms ,business rules ,tasklists moved in bulk.
2. Do we require LCM utility to migrate these objects ?
3. Upgarde from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2 is it single step or first do we need to move to any other version and then to 11.1.2
Thanks & Regards,

  • Hyperion upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2

    Hi All,
We have started planning for upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2. Currently we are planning to upgrade UAT/ Test environment first so we have uninstalled everything from UAT server.so we will upgrade UAT to 11.1.2.2 and then migrate applications from PROD to UAT (HFM,FDM,Essbase and EPMA). Do we need to copy all the oracle schema's (HFM,ESS,HSS,EPMA,etc not the fact tables but hyperion components related) from PROD to UAT ?
We know that if we are doing in place upgrade or upgrade from PROD to PROD then it is okay to copy schema's but for cross environment like PROD to UAT , should we copy all the tables ? I am worried about the tables like configuration related, log related ?
    Please advice.

There are a number of different available options when upgrading, if you just performing a clean install and then migrating applications you wouldn't need to copy the schemas.
If you are upgrading and leaving the original environment running then you need to clone schemas.
    Cheers

  • Reg: Hyperion Upgradation from 7.1.x to 9.3.x and Shared Services...

    Hi Everybody,
New to this forum and i want to know about upgrading the essbase from 7.1.x to 9.3.x...As i gone through PDF, it is mentioning as upgrading of 9.3.x from earlier versions prior to release 9.2.x cannot be done directly...Here comes with the migration/upgradation topic wherein... Can we go ahead and install essbase 9.3.x on new box and migrate app's / db's from 7.1.x old box?
One more thing is like...if we are using External authentication using LDAP in 7.1.x version for security....will it be mandatory to implement shared services separately in system 9 or continue with native security mode without installing shared services...I have only essbase and no other tools implemented...
Hope u guys understand my queries!...If any body can explain on these two aspects...will be of great help to me...
Thanks for the help in advance!!

    Hi,
You will have to migrate the Essbase server from 7.1.2 to 9.3.1
The steps you will follow are as below: --
    1. Configure Essbase on new environment, 9.3.1 by using the same user as on 7.1.2 [THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STEP, TO MIGRATE SECURITY]
    1. Take data exports of all application/databases in old environment
    2. Take backups of all Essbase objects, including essbase.sec in old environment. Take security file backup after stopping Essbase 7.1.2
    3. Create the applications/databases with same name in new environment 9.3.1
    4. Copy the outlines and open outline in EAS in 9.3.1 and save them again.
    5. Copy all objects, rules, reports, calc for all applications.
    6. Stop essbase, Eas in new environment and copy security file from old environment to new environment Take backup of Essbase.sec on new environment
    7. Start Essbase 9.3.1
    8. Validate all databases using Esscmd "validate" command
    9. Reimport all data and run default calc on all applications.
    10. Now, you have the security in new Essbase server, as in old environment
    11. Externalize the security in EAS.
Caution: When you migrate to Shared Services, Essbase users and groups are converted to equivalent roles
in Shared Services. Shared Services creates a superuser with the user ID named “admin,” which
is read-only. If Essbase contains a user ID named “admin”, that user ID cannot be migrated to
Shared Services. Before migrating, change the “admin” user ID (for example, from “admin” to
    “asadmin”).
It is not compulsory to use shared services with Essbase 9.3.1, if you have Essbase only.
but since it the way to go, you will have to migrate your essbase security to shared services.
Let me know if it helps, by defining the reply as answered, Helpful or correct.
    Cheers

  • Issues with upgrading Hyperion HFM from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1

    Hi,
After the recent release of Hyperion 11.1.2.1, we upgraded our development environment to 11.1.2.1 from 11.1.2.
Installation and configuration was smooth straight forward [ We used the Maintenance upgrade while installing 11.1.2.1 ].
We migrated the application created from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1 using copy App. We saw following issues.
    1. We are unable to run consolidation and we get following Error: “An unknown error has occurred in the HsvData2 object”
    2. Every time when we login to HFM workspace and run reports we see database authentication window, we have to enter admin credentials for first time.
    3. We are unable to load a Rule File in 11.1.2.1, which was loaded successfully in 11.1.2.
Any details on the above issues or on the upgrade from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1 would be of great help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Bhargav

I am going to throw out the most unexciting reply ever, but .... the answer probably lies in the 11.1.2.1 readme.
    V25453-01 From : https://edelivery.oracle.com/EPD/Download/get_form?egroup_aru_number=13638318
    Consolidation
When running a consolidation, the following error may occur: “An unknown error has occurred in the HsvData2 object” with a description of: “Value violated the integrity constraints for a column or table” and the following problem: “Cannot insert duplicate key in object”. To resolve this error, delete invalid records.
I didn't look at the other issues; however, once again, I think the answers are most likely contained in the readmes.

  • Hyperion Planning Upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2

Hyperion Planning Upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2
So far I have done the following 3 steps:
    1. I have successfully installed and configured Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2 in a new Server. (Windows Server 2008 R2).
    2. I have created a blank classic Planning Application in 11.1.2.2.
    3. I have copied the relational database from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2
Could you please let me know the next steps to perform the upgrade?
Should I use the Migrate Button in the Hyperion Planning Webpage or use the option in the EPM System Configurator "Upgrade existing database to the current release from 11.1.1.3". Please advise.
Note : A native User is the owner of the Planning Application in 11.1.1.3 and hence I made the same in 11.1.2.2 also.
Also, please let me know if I need to migrate the shared services security and convert the HBRs to Calc Manger rules first before upgrading the Planning Application.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks John for your quick response.
Yes, I have performed a clean install and then going for upgrading the existing Planning Application.
The Application owner in both the source and target Applications is a native user named hypadmin (not the default admin user). Do you want me to change the owner to default admin user, or the user hypadmin is ok to go with?
    Please advise.
Also, is there any specific order I need to follow for migrating the below components?
    1. Shared Services Security
    2. HBRs to Calc Manger Rules
    3. Existing Planning Application Upgrade

  • Need info about Hyperion Upgrade

    Hi,
I have below questions regarding the Hyperion upgrade.
    1. Please let us know whether we can upgrade 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.3.500
    2. Is the FDM 11.1.2.3.500 is compatible with EPM 11.1.2.4 (Essbase & HFM)?
    Thanks,
    Aravindh K

Yes you can upgrade from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.3 and then patch .500
FDM is no more in 11.1.2.4 so it will not be supported combination and would not work with HFM anyway because of the changes to Java which would stop the existing adaptors from working.
If you go to the 11.1.2.4 support matrix at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/hyperion-supported-platforms-085957.html
Then go to the 11.1.2.4 Release Compatibility tab you will see FDM is no longer there.

  • Hyperion Upgrade 11.1.2.0 to 11.1.2.2 _ User ID

    Hi,
We are planning an upgrade of Hyperion env from 11.1.2.0 to 11.1.2.2.
The Hyp V11.1.2.0 install is done by a consultant User ID.........Now that user id is no longer used and the consultant is not working with us.....
For the upgrade do we need to use the same User ID...or can we use any other User ID with Admin privileges.

Probably not the best installing/configuring with a consultant's account :)
It is possibly to get around installing/configuring with a different account, have a read of document 1342764.1 in Oracle support as it should provide the steps around it.
    Cheers

  • Install/Upgrade from 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1

    Gurus,
We are upgrading from 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1(Distributed environment) and have gone through the 11.1.2.1 start here , installation and configuration guides.
    Existing environment:
    Machine1(Windows 2003 R2): Hyperion Shared Services, EAS webapp,Essbase Provider Services(WebApp)
Machine2(Windows 2003 R2): Workspace, BI+ Services, BI+ UIServices, BI+ Client, Web Analysis, Financial Reporting, Interactive Reporting
    Machine3(Windows 2003 R2): Planning Application/Web Server,EPMA web
    Machine4(Windows 2003 R2): HFM Web/App , FDQM Web/App
    Machine5(Linux 32bit) : Essbase Server
    Machine6(Linux 64bit) : Oracle RDBMS
On Upgraded env plan to move to Windows 2008 and have:
    Machine1(Windows 2008 x64): Foundation Services (Hyperion Shared Services,Workspace web,EAS webapp, EPS webapp)
    Machine2(Windows 2008 x64): Web Analysis,Reporting&Analysis Framework,Financial Reporting,Interactive Reporting,
    Machine3(Windows 2008 x64): Financial Management App/Web, FDQM Web/App
    Machine4(Windows 2008 x64): Planning Application/Web Server,EPMA
    Machine5(Linux 64bit) : Essbase Server
    Machine6(Linux 64bit) : Oracle RDBMS
From Page 94 "Oracle® Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide RELEASE 11.1.2.1 Updated: June 2011" states:
    a)
On the machine on which you plan to administer the WebLogic Server, you must install all
Web applications for all applications you plan to deploy on any machine in the environment.
(The WebLogic Administration Server is installed and deployed on the Foundation Services
    machine.)
    b)
On each remote machine in a distributed environment, install the Web applications you
plan to run on that machine and then use EPM System Configurator to deploy the Web
applications automatically, or manually deploy the Web applications.
Note that EPM System Installer installs WebLogic Server on each machine (for Web tier and
Service tier components) in a distributed environment.
    c)
If you are deploying Web applications on a machine other than the WebLogic
Administration Server machine, WebLogic Administration Server must be running
    Question:
    ======
    1) After installing components on respective machines per guideline a),b) above do we have to deploy webapps from products related to machine2,3,4 on machine1(foundation services). If everything gets deployed on Shared service machine -- we are concerned about the system resources that will be needed to run all the webapps.
    2) Assuming we do not want to use a cluster - do we still have to depoy to admin server? Please clarify.
    Best Regards

    Hi Dinesh,
Thanks for taking time to answer my question.
I reviewed install start here guide architecture components and was planning for following layout:
    WLS - weblogic server
    MWC - microsoft windows component
    webtier:
    Machine1(Windows 2008) : Oracle HTTP Server
    apptier:
Machine1(Windows 2008R2): Foundation Services WebApp (WLS)
    Essbase Administration Services WebApp (WLS)
    Essbase Provider Services WebApp (WLS)
    Calculation Manager WebApp (WLS)
    Machine2(Windows 2008 R2): Reporting&Analysis Framework Services (MWC)
    Interactive Reporting Services (MWC)
    Financial Reporting Print Server (MWC)
    Financial Reporting WebApp (WLS)
    Web Analysis WebApp (WLS)
    Reporting&Analysis Framework WebApp (WLS)
    Machine3(Windows 2008 R2): Microsoft IIS 7.0 (MWC)
Financial Mgmt WebServices WebApp (WLS or IIS??)
Financial Mgmt WebServices IIS WebApp (MSC)
Financial Mgmt SmartView IIS WebApp (MWC)
    Financial Mgmt IIS WebApp (MWC)
Financial Mgmt LifeCycle Mgmt IIS WebApp (MWC)
    DME Listener Service (MWC)
    Financial Mgmt Server (MWC)
    FDM ServerFDM Task Manager (MWC)
FDM Load BalancerFDM IIS Web Application (MWC)
    Oracle Data Integrator(ODI) Agent (MWC)
ERP Integrator WebApp (WLS or IIS??)
    Machine4(Windows 2008 R2): Microsoft IIS 7.0 (MWC)
    Planning WebApp (WLS)
    Planning RMI Registry (MWC)
    Perf Mgmt Architect WebApp (WLS)
    Data Synchronization WebApp (WLS)
    Perf Mgmt Architect Server (MWC)
Perf Mgmt Architect Web Services IIS (MWC)
    1) Do you see any issues with above layout or there are any changes required.
    2) Since this is POC env we are using VMware to host windows machines and my windows admin told me that maximum CPU he can provide on single machine was 8 CPU's. We are also sharing resources on the vmware infrastructure so it wont be really 8 but "shared 8 CPU's) with some other resource on the pool. So we would like to distribute the components into multiple servers so as to not overwhelm one box if there is a heavy load.
    2) Is there any benefit of bundling all WLS components on a single machine versus distributing them?
(for e.g: everything marked in above as WebApp -- My understanding is you need to deploy them to appropriate application server)
    3) In case there is a need to distribute the WebApps on mutiple hosts do we have to
install component on : shared services machine - deploy on same machine to Weblogic(admin) server &
install component on remote machine but do not configure/deploy it?
If this is the correct approach wondering what is the logic or rationale behind doing it this way.
We are still planning out the layout and havent installed this yet so wondering what options to use to install versus deploy.
The installation and configuration guide has steps but hoping it would become more clear when we do this hands on.
    Regards

  • Planning upgrade from system 9.2 to System 11

    Hi,
Can any one pls. let me know the upgradation process from Hyperion Planning version 9.2 to version 11 ? Can we directly migrate from version 9.2 to 11 ?
    Thanks,
    PR

    Hi,
I would not go down trying to directly upgrade from 9.2. to V11.
I would back up all your planning objects, install configure V11 and perform a standard planning migration, it will upgrade the planning relational database.
    Cheers

    1) Do i need to uninstall the exisitng version and install the new one or is there any upgrade option button which is available in version 11.1.2.1 which i just need to cliick on it.
    2) How should i take care about the users and groups as there is no OPENLDAP in 11.1.2.1 ? How should i do it?

  • Is it really possible to upgrade from a Treo 650 to a Treo 750?

I am not a very happy customer at the moment, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I upgraded from my old Palm Tungsten to a Zire, then to a Cingular Treo 650, combining three devices into one. I have since discovered that the Treo 650 seems to have a faulty transmission mode, as I can rarely be clearly understood by whomever I call. Am on the second (or third, I have lost track) and continue to have the same problem. I get five bars of reception but can't be understood on the other end. A bit of a problem when one is trying to call 911. Am constantly told I am "breaking up". The repair shop says it "Can't duplicate the problem". OK, then I do not want to give up all the info I have stored in the fool thing, and the 750 seems to have a different system, so I thought I would try that. All the stuff I could find seemed to indicate it wouldn't be a problem to upgrade. When the 750 arrived, I tried to install the software from the CD on my Windows XP computer. No dice. Setup encounters an error and closes. Can't even look at the files, because setup tries to run any time I access the CD. From any drive.  Gave it to my girlfiend to check on her computer, and the CD seemed to run fine. Other CDs work just fine on my computer. Must be some kind of conflict, but what? Tried calling the AT&T number that suggested they could help with setup, and was first connected to the business center, they routed me to the laptop center, who routed me to the network center, who said they would have to bring in the Palm customer service and connected me to a Mac guy that dumped me back to a menu that took me to someone for whom English is a second language with whom I was trying to communicate over a very poor satellite connection. They made no sense anyway. telling me first that I couldn't have two desktops running (wrong, my girlfriend has my old Zire and the CD worked fine) and then insisting that the serial number on my device had to start with a P, when it clearly does not have any alpha characters in it. Gave up on that route of assistance. Managed to get the new ActiveSync installed from my girlfriends computer over the network. Great. Now let's get my 650 synced with Outlook (which I have not used at home) and see if we can move on. Nope. First I have to update Outlook 2000 from the old Win98 to my current XP. Find the old CD, and square that away. OK, now sync to Outlook. Nope. The sync program gives an error, saying it will only sync with Outlook 98, 2000, and XP(2002). Good grief. I have Outlook 2000, and the software apparently does not recognize it. If the Palm doesn't work, there is no reason for me to keep this phone, and I am very close to returning it and abandoning the Palm entirely when I upgrade to something that works, although I dread re-entering all that information.

Thanks for the feedback. Today I installed an Enterprise version of Office 2007 I purchased a while back, but had not yet installed. Microsoft presented a few challenges, but they were quickly resolved. I then downloaded the appropriate conduit from Palm, and synced the 650 with the handheld overwriting the computer. Then used Active Destop to sync the 750. Satisfied I had moved as much info as possible, I called AT&T and had them move the phone number to the new Treo.
Bonus! When the guy at AT&T called me on the new phone to verify it, he said it sounded better than my landline.
Sorry for the streaming paragraph. When it is late I tend to write like I think.
