There is no way nor any need to delete an Apple ID.
Purchases are permanently tied to the Apple ID.
Regardless of having an iOS device, if you ever have the intent of listening/watching the media purchased with your Apple ID or in the future using an iOS device and the purchased apps, you will need that Apple ID.
Simply restore the device as new prior to selling and it will wipe all your content and personal information from the device.

I don't believe they were looking for a trade in, they are due for a subsidized Verizon upgrade. I think the bringing the iPhone 4 was for setting it up and transferring as Verizon does not require you to swap your previous phone for an upgrade.

I am not sure how this works but it seems that it may be all or nothing.
To turn off Facebook events on your device:
Settings > Facebook > Calendars > Off

After reviewing your post, I located an article that can help with resetting your iCloud password:
iCloud: Change your iCloud password
Your iCloud password protects the privacy of the information (such as your email) stored in iCloud. Your password also protects your ability to locate or remotely erase your device using Find My iPhone. You should regularly change your iCloud password to protect your information. Your iCloud password is the password for the Apple IDyou use to sign in to iCloud.
Important: If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud as you do with other Apple services such as the Apple Online Store, iTunes Store, App Store, or to purchase products in iPhoto or Aperture, changing your iCloud password also changes your password for these services. Make sure you sign in to those locations using your new password.
Go to the My Apple ID website (appleid.apple.com) and follow the instructions to reset your Apple ID password.

After changing your iCloud password, make sure you update it on all your devices and in any email apps you use to get your iCloud email.

Create a new ID and start using it.
You will not be able to transfer your existing purchases and updates will require knowing the password for the old ID.

same thing has just happened to me! I got old ipod touch off my friend which had been cleared, I had it connected to itunes then it ran an update for it which at the end said it couldn't complete and now my device is stuck. When I switch on it has the picture of the cable and itunes disc symbol and that's it! Tried the holding down both buttons for 10 seconds, got the apple logo then got the cable and itunes picture again! So that's not working. Any other suggesstions? Let me know what works for you?

If I lived in the UK, that's where I'd purchase my iPhone. One of the big benefits of iPhone 5 is LTE, and a Noth American iPhone only supports LTE in North America. Not to mention the warranty/support issue...an iPhone purchased in the US will only have a valid warranty in the US. So, yes, purchase your iPhone in the UK. Not only will you have LTE support, your warranty will be EU wide.

This is a weird question and I'm not sure if anyone has thought about this or even without my knowledge, asked this question, but I felt very compelled to ask it anyway. I am currently in family plan where all three lines are due for an upgrade. My sister and I plan to purchase the iPhone 4 but my mother does not want to upgrade her phone (she's a BlackBerry user). I was wondering if I can upgrade her phone to an iPhone while she keeps her BlackBerry and I just take that iPhone and give it to another friend, who then can use the iPhone. Is all this possible? I would like to add we're all going to be sticking around for another two years with AT&T.

There should be no problem with this. The only issue I would imagine you would run into would be that I believe you will have to choose one of the iPhone data plans when you upgrade. If your Mom has some sort of Blackberry data package it could mess with that becuase you'd have to remove it. I know that you can just change back to the Blackberry data plans after the fact and get credit for the iPhone plan, but here is the kicker: If your Mom has had the Blackberry data plan for a while and it's no longer offered by AT&T, once she is forced to change it because of the new iPhone, you will not be able to get the same Blackberry plan back. You'd have to switch to one of the current ones, which may cost more. That would be the only real thing to check into or worry about.
