Mavericks is an upgraded System in the same way that Mountain Lion was, the difference being that it's free. You can download the installer from the Mac App Store (the system requirements are the same as for Mountain Lion so you should be OK there). I've not got it: reports suggest that it is an improvement over Mountain Lion but it has some quirks that may or may not be an issue for you. It has its own forum, so you could look there for information.

I'm buying a new Macbook Pro this week and am wondering what is the best way to copy over the software I have from my existing Macbook Pro to the new one? eg. Photoshop and Office etc. I no longer have the CDs.
Ya know what I'm on a brand new MBP just about 24 hours old and you know whats been working amazingly for me. I have a 27inch iMac as well and i've just connected it to my network and been dragging files and apps across the network onto my new MBP. Its really working fast and its flawless. You could always do that option, Just go into sharing options and turn them on for both Macs. Then just click and drag. Of course they have to both be on the same network for this to be possible.

Shared is what your looking at. I click on there see all my computers files and then drag the ones i want form its folder to my MBP folders. Hope that helps if your looking for a very simple way on a wireless network. -

2: Apple menu > About this Mac > More Info > Macbook Pro 3,1 or like model number, punch it into Mactracker.
3: Find out what OS X version came originally on your machine. how far you can go.
Things to consider before upgrading OS X
4: Inexpensive. $ If < 10.6.3, then order the 10.6.3 disks by calling Apple via phone.
5: More money $$. If > 10.6.2 then call Apple ia phone for the machine specific versions as the 10.6.3 retail version won't work.

7: Run Software update to get to 10.6.8

I bought a macbook pro from a cash converters store. It was online and in the description didn't mention anything about this issue. I can't really explain it very well so here is a picture.

Thank you very much for your help.It's difficult to determine if your photograph shows a smudge on the exterior of the display, or if it is a display anomaly. Turn up the brightness. If the image changes it's a display problem.
You can clean the first one, but if it's the latter it is a hardware defect that will require parts, tools, labor or money to fix. -

You can find out your current system version by select About This Mac from the Apple menu. To make sure it is updated, select Software Update from the Apple menu. A Mac from Nov. 2011 is probably running "Lion," and the latest version of Lion is Mac OS X 10.7.4.
But that should not affect the connection of an external hard drive. There are no special updates for connecting standard external drives.
Does the external Toshiba drive connect by USB port? Is it the smaller type that gets power from the port (no conection except for the one cable), or is it larger (with its own power supply)? -

Just bought a macbook pro 13 inch and wifi doesn't work at all

if you have other computers in the house, your modem might be blocking it. I've have seen users with the same issue and have experienced it myself. if powering down all computers and devices that connect to the modem do not work, i will have to suggest you call your internet service provider to assist you with your modem.

Where did you buy this laptop? I know if I opened a box expecing and having paid for a 2012 model and found a 2010 model, I'd be back at the store demanding an exchange quicker than you could imagine. Open box or not, if you thought you were buying a 2012 model, you should get what you paid for.

I just bought a Macbook Pro with Retina and I cant' seem to connect my HTC One X+ cell phone to it. It seems that I have to download the HTC software for the phone called HTC Sync Manager, but app won't open on the Macbook Pro because it's "unidentified." PLEASE HELP! OK Folks i believe i have actually found the solution. I know i am a bit slow but i only got my New HTC One 32gb today (it was free from Three). Like you it would not connect to my Mac or work PC. So here is the way i got it to work. Download Android File Transfer if you have not already got it. Make sure you have USB Debugging setup etc. Now you need to download a free programme called SyncMate. I used SyncMate 4 because i am running OS X 10.7. There is a paid for version of Syncmate but we just want the free version as it seems to contain some drivers that will make Android File Transfer see you phone. Download SyncMate, install it as per usual and hey presto when you plug in your HTC One Android File Transfer should open automatically...BINGO!!! It worked for me which i am really chuffed about as i was just about to ring Three back up to get the phone returned. Let me know if it worked for you too :-)

I have just bought a Macbook Pro and sync data from my old version onto the new one...However when I tried opening the mail client...Message window does not appear. The old Macbook Pro I was using used Snow Leopard. Now with the new it is a Lion. Toruble now when I click onto new message window I have the spinning icon which show it is trying to load.
