Make sure you are using the correct serial number starting 1160 (24 digits comprising all numbers and no letters)
If in doubt you can check from your PC version. Launch LR and from the menu click:
Help >> System Info

When you installed the Lightroom 5 on your MacBook, did it ask for both serial numbers. Since you purchased Lightroom 5 as an upgrade, you need both the serial number from your original purchase as well as the new serial number for Lightroom 5. If you have both of those numbers and they are still not being accepted then you will have to contact Adobe customer support for a solution.

I bought a new mac. My old creative suite design standard works well but acrobat reader 8 doesn't accept the serial number.

All is right with my subscription. I just install the suite one time on my old mac.

YoannWas the FCS on your old machine an upgrade? You will need to enter your original, full version serial first, and then you will be prompted for the upgrade serial number.

This is an upgrade from Acrobat 9 Pro, but it doesn't accept that serial number either.It will ask for BOTH of those serial numbers at different times. The Acrobat 9 serial is for a "qualifying" product. Not sure what order it will want them, look closely at the prompts.

As has been pointed out, if there was a "previous owner", the phone is not "new". Thephone you purchased is most likely stolen. If whoever you bought it from won't give you your money back, turn it over to the police. -

The Lightroom serial number is cross-platform. It works on both Windows and Mac.

Could you please let me know what error prompts on your screen when you are trying to enter the serial number.
Have you bought subscription for Acrobat, if yes then you might need to sign in at "adobe.com" using your Adobe ID credentials to activate subscription.
