I cannot open my mailbox

i cannot open my mailbox.

Here are some suggestions for getting the best results from this site.
Create a user profile that accurately reflects the type of hardware you're using and your version of the Mac OS, or include that information in your first message.
Give details of the problem. A statement such as "it doesn't work" conveys no information. If it did work, you wouldn't be here. Instead, you should post something like this: "I did A; I was expecting B, but C happened instead." Include the complete text of any error messages you saw and where you saw them: in an application window, a CrashReporter window, a log, or whatever. Also include the steps you’ve taken yourself, if any, to try to resolve the issue. If the problem is of recent origin, did you make any changes to your setup just before you first noticed it?
Search the discussions for answered questions similar to yours before posting. If you found any relevant information, but it didn't help, include details.
Post in the appropriate discussion area. Usually that means the area for the type of Mac you're using, if the problem is hardware-related, or for the Mac OS version you’re running, if it’s more software-related. Some other Apple technologies have their own discussion areas.
Is the problem reproducible or intermittent? That is, does it always manifest itself when you take a certain action, or only at unpredictable times?
If asking about third-party software, specify what it is, the website where you got it (if applicable), and what version you have. Ask the developer for help first. Include the results of that contact in your message: what you did, and what happened.

  • Cannot Open Additional Mailbox

I'm having an issue with quite a few shared mailboxes that seem to be sporadic issue. I have about 15 mailboxes that have full access permissions to a group. I'm able to open a few but some come back with "Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders
cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available.etc" I can create a mail profile for each of the mailboxes and get in just fine. I remove one additional mailbox and all of sudden I can get into one I wasn't able to get into before but when I close
and reopen outlook then I can't get back in it. The issue is very sporadic I've checked autodiscovery all is correct there. I can't seem to find anything in the logs on the exchange servers. If I look at the connection status in outlook you can't see the guid
of the mailbox that you get from autodiscover. Any thoughts on how I can go about troubleshooting this?

I added 5 additional mailboxes 4 out of the 5 opened when clicked. They all have the same permissions on them. I then removed all 5 and added the 1 that didn't work, after this the 1 that didn't open did open this time. I doubt I'm having a permissions issue
after that troubleshooting step. I would assume that you maybe correct I am hitting a throttling policy. Is there an easy way to check to see if I'm getting throttled such as a hit counter? Also these mailboxes are for voice mailboxes only and only have like
5-10 messages in it this surprises me as being throttled.
    Update
I added 1 at a time until I got to 5 and it wouldn't open I then removed 1 at a time and it still wouldn't open. I closed outlook reopened and then it opened just fine...Could I be hitting some outlook limit?
    Yet another update
Got to 4 wouldn't open closed outlook then it would but then proceeded to add another voice mailbox and got this error when even trying to add one "The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable." the results are
so sporadic that it feels like a throttle policy but what part of the policy would it be?

  • I can't open my mailbox. I click on the icon but nothing happens. I also cannot reboot the computer because it keeps saying I need to close the mail account, which is not open.  HELP!

I cannot shut down or restart my computer. The message tells me to close my mailbox, but I cannot open my mailbox, so I am stuck - can't reboot nor can I open my mail to quit mail. HELP!!

Use Force Quit under the Apple, or by clicking the Mail icon. You might also try force quitting the finder.

  • Mail issues, cannot open or close

I cannot open my mailbox. I click on the stamp with the eagle on it, and on gray bar where things open up it says "mail", but i cannot write or read messages, and i cannot quit the application. No content is shown, no emails or anything. It is just my computer background. I tried to quit mail, but it will not let me do that. I cannot restart my computer, because mail is not closed. So if mail will not fully open, yet it is open enough to not be able to restart my computer without quitting, but there is no quit option and the commandQ button is not working ,how do i go about getting rid of this problem??

You seem to have some serious flaws on your harddisk.
Do you ever run maintenance software (e.g.
MacJanitor) or switch off your Mac every day? It's
doing some maintenance by itself in the middle of the
night if you leave it on.

Thank you for your very prompt reply. I will follow your suggestions and post back. No, I do not use any other programme such as you have suggested. I usually put my computer to sleep overnight.
However, maybe I have discoverd a clue. When I opened e-mail Back Up just now, I got a message:
"Please finish editing and close the editing window before openiong a back up."
I fear I may have been working on an e-mail while thye Back Up was in progress. Coulod this have been a cause?
I also note that my back up programme dialogue box now tells me that there are no scheduled back ups for e-mail or for my home folder. I hesitate to instruct it to continue with back ups until I find out whatt the problem is.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • I cannot open my mail box in the mail app

Hi, I cannot open my mailbox in the mail app on my I pad 3. It is asking to verify the email adres for my apple ID. When I log in again it still says I I have to verify myself. I dont understand it any more. Can somebody help me?

Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
    - Press the home button when done.

  • On 10.4.11 Mac Mail I get this: Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unnedded documents or move documents to another volume. I can't open mail.

On 10.4.11 iMac Mac Mail I get this message: "Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume." I can't open mail to do this. I have reinstalled software but no effect. How do I get into Mail to delete?

Found this on the "more like this" Worked like a charm!
With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
Go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index. Move the Envelope Index file to the Desktop.
Launch Mail and you will be prompted to import mailboxes. Select OK and allow the import process to complete.
After confirming all mailboxes were successfully imported and available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder and old Envelope Index file from the Desktop and this should resolve the problem.

  • Cannot open mailbox, Get-CalendarProcessing error

    Hi
I am running a native Exchange 2010 environment and I created a room mailbox resource in Exchange.  However I am receiving the following error when I try to view the properties
Cannot open mailbox /o= /ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=server/cn=Microsoft System Attendant.  It was running the command 'Get-CalendarProcessing -Identity 'domain.com/Exchange/Resource Mailboxes/Resource-Mailbox-Name'
    -ReadFromDomainController'.
I have two databases in my Exchange environment.  Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue, also why is this happening.
    Thanks

I don't know how this has been marked as the answer, as it is NOT an answer.
Which service is unable to contact the GC? What are we supposed to be restarting?
I personally get this error when I create some resource accounts programmatically. I get the error if I try and open the resource information tab in the GUI. I also get the error if I try and run "get-mailboxcalendarconfiguration" in Powershell against the
    same mailbox.

  • Cannot open mailbox system attendand- randomly

    Hello,
our environment have Exchange 2013 with CU7 installed, and lately receive weird problem that is not persistent but it unexplained.
All databases mounted that are in DAG, all arbitration mailboxes good, in ADSIEDIT checked homeMDB, and it is not set, however, i dont know is this relevant because sometimes is failing, sometimes is success.
When we run user creation we randomly get error:
Cannot open mailbox /o=ORGANIZATION/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=SERVER/cn=Microsoft System Attendant. CategoryInfo: NotSpecified: (:) [Set-MailboxRegionalConfiguration],

Googled many answers, tried many workarounds, and I'm out of ideas now, so any suggestion will be more than welcome!
    Thanks,
    Ivica

Well, i would do that, except that Exchange 2013 don't have System attendant service.
Also, we have 6 databases, how do i know which one to put in homeMDB field?
I did as you instructed anyway for test and still receive error:

  • Exchange 2010 users cannot open Exchange 2013 shared mailbox

    Title says it all.
We're in the process of migrating 1000+ mailboxes to Exchange 2013. A number of shared mailboxes have been migrated, but those users still on 2010 cannot open them.
Is this just how it is, or is there a way around it?

    Hi,
I tested in my lab, if the shared mailbox is on Exchange 2010, I could open this shared mailbox successfully. Then I moved this shared mailbox to Exchange 2013, after that, I couldn’t open it anymore, I got the following error:
Besides, I tried to open a shared mailbox on Exchange 2013 which was not moved from Exchange 2010, it is the same error message.
Based on the test, it seems that Exchange 2010 users can’t open shared mailbox on Exchange 2013. So I recommend you move those users to Exchange 2013.

  • Exchange 2013 mailbox restore fails cannot open mailbox microsoft system attendant

I am having problems when trying to restore a mailbox.
    I get an error:
Cannot open mailbox /o=First Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=MBXsvr/cn=Microsoft System Attendant
This is the first time I have tried restoring mailbox on this 2013 Server. This 2013 server is from a recent 2010 migration.
I also recently lost Discovery Search mailbox and had to recreate it.
I found an article on 2010 that says to set the homeMDB, but I am not sure if that is needed in 2013. There is none set in this AD.

    Hi,
I searched and found that someone got the same error and resolved it by repairing the recovery database.
Please repair your recovery database to check result.
Instead of using the production space, try moving the RDB over to a test environment and running the New-MailboxRepairRequest there, then move it back
to the production environment. To repair recovery database, you can follow steps below.
    1. Spin up a test environment.
      ○ Create a test-production DB in the test environment.
      ○ Dismount the DB in the test environment and rename it
to old (or just delete it if it has no data that needs
    to be kept).
    2. Bring over the recovery DB to the test environment.
      ○ Rename it to match the test-production DB and put it in the test-productionDB location.
      ○ Mount the RDB in the test environment (as if it were the test-productionDB)
      ○ Run the New-MailboxRepairRequest to repair the affected mailbox
      ○ Once complete, dismount the recoveryDB.
    3. Bring the recovery DB back to the production environment.
      ○ Rename it to it's original name and put it back in it's original location.
      ○ Mount the RDB in it's original (rdb) location with it's original RDB name.
      ○ Run the New-MailboxRestoreRequest to merge the affected mailbox back into the production space.
Hope this is helpful to you.
