Water spills on my new Mac book Pro
Water spilled on my Mac Book Pro.
It affected some parts of the screen, the keyboard, and got in to the logic board through the USB & networ ports.
I didnt take away the battery early enough (I did after 2 days).
I later took off the back, the battery and dried it for 3 days but it has since refuced to come up.
Can someone tell me if this Mac is destroyed forever or If I will need to replace the logic board or so? I am currently running a project in western Africa where I dont have an Apple store.
Please help. It may appear this is a physical damage even when I have an existing warranty.it's best to take it to Apple and have them diagnose the issue....

something inside your macbook probably got shorted out. it could be a simple fix - it could be an expensive fix.
it's best to take it to Apple rather than trying to turn it back on in case some parts inside might still be wet.

My Mac book pro is behaving strangely. I am not able to enter the Password and can't open any application/folder. To log-in I have to give forced shutdown. When ever I try to open any application the screen turns grey (some times) and the window pop up " --------- quit unexpectedly".
I updated the OS too from the available updates but the problem persists. I have reasonable amont of data in it, which definitely I do not want to loose.

Restart, Shutdown, And Sleep do not work on my Mac Book Pro.
When I click the Apple in the top left corner of my screen, and click Sleep, Restart, or Shutdown, none of them work.
Since my computer cant restart, I can't restart my computer to install updates either, which is frustrating to say the least.
Computer Specs:
Mac Book Pro (Same as every 2011 MBP, only thing I've changed is 4->8 RAM)
13-inch, Early 2011
2.3GHz Intel Core i5
8gb 1333MHz DDR3 Ram
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
OS X 10.9 (13A603), Mavericks.

Create a new admin user account. Restart the computer and log into the new account. Try Sleep, Restart, and Shutdown. Do they all work?
Restart the computer is Safe Mode. Can you Sleep, Restart, and Shutdown when in safe mode? -

You'll have to read the terms of your warranty for India and see what your availalbe options are.
There are plenty of service providers in India, so that's not a problem.
Your location isn't a problem, what likely happened is your out of warranty period or you purchased the machine through another country and it got registered with a different warranty period. Once Apple discovered your in India, the warranty for that country is applied.
For instance in the EU the warranty period is 2 years by law, so Apple has to honor that. But elsewhere it's 1 year and perhaps that's why you were denied replacement. Not because your from India, that the warranty period for machines in India is one year, like it is for everyone else.
I guess you could fly to the EU and then make a warranty claim from there, but it's already too late, your machine and conversation with Apple was already recorded.
Now if your indirecting asking folks here to service your machine by shipping it to the EU, you better watch yourself around here.

I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro. Downloaded Mountain Lion. Could no longer send mail messages. Checked my Mail preferences and they were correct. Icalled my ISP and they tried to help make it work by setting some new preferences Did not work. Took Mac Book Pro into ISP to see if they could remedy the problem. They could not. Still cannot send messages. The only thing I did from when mail could send mail and when it could not was to download Mountain Lion on to both computers. Help!
Just realised that with the SSL checked in the smtp set up, password authorisation is required and is put in the box immediately under the SSL checkbox, which is under the port(s) being used. Can now send mail:)

i had same issue some years back. sure my operator was different from yours. unfortunatly some of these 3rd party products dont spend much effort on a mac. My one had half a dozent programs, for each version of OSX one. When i called them up the gave me the correct version which worked. You may have not the right one. May try first the MAC and ensure it works fine without the card and that software. -

Mac Book Pro Loading bar shutdown
i have a mac book pro and when i start it up it comes up with the apple symbol and theres a loading bar under it. The loading bar goes a quarter of the way and then the mac shuts down completely. What does this mean?
When that thermometer bar appears, it does so because you have some disk Directory damage.
When your Mac shuts down it indicates it was not repaired after one pass.
Boot to Recovery_HD (10.7 or later) or your Installer DVD (10.6 and older) and launch Disk Utility from the Utilities Menu.
Select your drive by Hardware_name.
check its SMART status at the lower right of the Window.
( Repair Disk). (it should take five minutes -- if it is done in 15 seconds, select you Macintosh_HD and ( Repair Disk) again. Repeat until it comes clean or gets stuck. -
Have my MAcbook Pro, since September '11 and started experiencing recurring issue where the system won't shutdown.
I have opend 7 cases since then with Apple Support performed, re-install, remove certain apps but the issue wont go away..
I would request Apple to take this product back, replace it with something new or refund..
Its not acceptable to reach out to Apple for same issue and you cannot pin point to what is going wrong with this machine.I can't imagine why you have seven cases open for the same issue, and I imagine that that will greatly complicate getting it resolved to your satisfaction. I would contact AppleCare, provide all seven case numbers, and ask to have all of them consolidated into one unified case record -- IF that can be done without losing all the details.

If another call to AppleCare with the request I've recommended above doesn't lead quickly to a satisfactory outcome, call Customer Relations at 1-800-676-2775. If you log in automatically, a bug in some versions of OS X will cause the desktop picture to revert to the default image at every startup. The only known workaround is to disable automatic login in the Users & Groups preference pane.
If the selected Desktop picture is stored in an iPhoto library on an external drive, export it from iPhoto and move it to a folder on the startup volume. (Credit for this solution to ASC member janay.)
If the desktop picture always reverts to a plain blue background, one of your login items may be causing the problem. The "TeamViewer" application can have this effect; see this thread. If it's not that in your case, rule out all other third-party login items as possible causes.
If you have a MacBook Pro model with automatic graphics switching, disable it temporarily in the Energy Saverpreference pane, set the Desktop picture, then reboot and re-enable graphics switching.
If none of the above applies to you, proceed as follows.
Back up all data.
In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
and move the following items to the Desktop, if they exist:
Application Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db
Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the items you moved to the Desktop back where they came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the items. -

Sometimes Chinese can be the result of text being misread as UTF-16 encoding when it is something else. In that case the translation should be gibberish, however. -
Cursor disappears on awaking mac book pro requiring shutdown by power button
been going on a few weeks. OSX 10.6.8. happens when opening screen after it has been closed only a few minutes.
JimLI am having exactly the same problem. It happened when I was watching a stream video in full screen mode, then I move to another screen (3-finger swipe) to work on something else and the cursor disappeared.

iTunes now gives you the option to install previous purchases on your devices. Sign in to your iTunes account on your computer and go to the iTunes store. Once there, click on the purchased link on the right side of the store screen. It will take you to a screen that shows all of your previous iTunes purchases. Music, TV shows, Movies... Download whatever you want on your new computer. If that isn't an option you want to try then plug you iPhone into your computer and open iTunes. When your phone shows up in iTunes, click on it. At the bottom of the screen you should be able to select the option to manually transfer music. Then select the music you want from your phone and copy it over to your computer. At this point if you aren't logged in to your iTunes account you will be asked to sign in to play the songs. Hope this helps.
