I downloaded os5 and now my phone does not recognise my 4 digit security code and I am locked out of my phone

Please help

Your not talking to apple here, we are users just like you. But if you have restored your phone from backup, then from new, and still not working, then make an appointment with an apple genius bar, let them check it and replace if needed.

  • I recovered my back up via a wired connection. now Time Machine does not recognise older back ups wirelessly and wants to do a first back up

I recovered a back up from my time machine via a wired connection after getting the 'white screen of death'. Now Time Machine does not recognise any back ups on the time machine when connected wirelessly and wants to do a first back up of the whole machine. How do I get my mac to recognise these older back ups? It connects to the wifi network the time machine creates fine, with the same name and password.

    I recommend the following.
    1. Reset the TC to factory.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
    Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
    2. Rename the TC to SMB standard.
That means short names.. 2-20 characters but less than 10 is excellent. eg TCGenx (use number for x that is actual generation of the TC)
    No spaces.
    Pure alphanumeric. No apostrophe.
    3. Ensure IPv6 is set to link-local..
Do the same thing for ethernet if that is used.
    4. Manually mount the TC disk in Finder.
Use Go in the top menu.. connect to server.
    Type in
AFP://TCname.local (where TCname is your new short name for the TC and local is default domain .. it helps using the domain I found).
You will then find the computer either can or cannot find the network resource.. if it fails something else is wrong with the actual network and you will need to fix that.
It will request the password if it is found.. password is public by default unless you changed it.. type in the password and check to keep it in your keychain.
    5. Delete current TM setup and redo it with the newly named TC.
    See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
If your backups cannot be found, try B6 again, now that you actually know that the disk has been properly discovered.

  • I changed from i iphone 5 back to a iphone 4.. now my itunes does not recognise that i have a iphone 4! how do i convert my last back up (on iphone 5) to my new iphone 4?

i changed from i iphone 5 back to a iphone 4.. now my itunes does not recognise that i have a iphone 4! how do i convert my last back up (on iphone 5) to my new iphone 4?

In your case you can only restore from a backup that has been created with the same iOS version. An iPhone 4 can only run 7.1.2, and, unless your iPhone 5 did not run the same version, you can't use a newer iOS backup of the 5 on the iPhone 4

  • HT3702 how do i set up my debit/credit card without running into any errors on the set up page. all my information is correct but i keep getting a account information does not match error or invalid security code error

  • New SD Card - now desktop manager does not recognise it

    Hi
I got my BB Curve working fine with my old SD card no probs (1.2GB). Just got a new card (32GB), BB recognises it ok, all folders are in place and shows 31GB free space... but BB Desktop manager keeps telling me the old CD card is in there telling me I only have 1.2GB.
Tried re-installing Desktop manager - no joy
Tried using both a PC  and a Mac - no joy
Checked USB Bus - Product ID is 0x8004 - even so installed solution from Calfix - no joy
tried removing battery - no joy
Tested SD card worked by removing from phone and inserting into SD card slot on laptop - all ok
Getting really frustrated now - I know I could drag and drop my music onto card via SD reader but want to be able to use Desktop manager for playlists.....any and all help welcome
btw - checked I had the right version of software on phone before buyinh 32GB card

Since I don't use playlists, drag and drop works fine for me. Further, I don't use my own music as much anymore...I decided to subscribe to Slacker as it will keep a whole ton of "stations" up to date with current releases plus, with the subscription, it will cache on the Media Card (and update that either via WiFi or USB tether) so that you don't consume bandwidth for playback (very useful for me as I'm frequently in situations where there is no signal available anyway).

  • Change Apple ID to different address, now iphone itunes does not recognise?

    Hi
I've changed my apple ID to a different email address as the current email address is now defunct!
So I've managed to changed via itunes and logged in on my mac and in the settings of my iphone its showing my current email address too!
But as I try and update my apps on my iphone, which goes to the screen with the login details, it's still showing as my old email address! Highly frustrating! I have restored my iphone and backed up too, but the problem still exists!
I'm guessing because I bought all the apps in my old Apple ID, its not wanting too update?
    Any thoughts?

Apps are DRM protected & tied to the account used to originally obtain them. They cannot be transferred to another iTunes account. They can only be updated using the account used to originally obtain them. If that account is no longer valid, you'll have to contact iTunes support and request they add your apps to your new account's download queue:

  • Help! ADE does not recognise my Elexon 621 eb

Can anyone help me please.  I bought an Elexon 621eb, uploaded ADE and managed to put a couple of books on to it.  The next time I plugged it in ADE did not recognise it - turned out to be a problem with the e book.  I have a new one now but ADE does not recognise it when I plug it in.  How do I get it to recognise my new EB without loosing the books I've bought?  Thanks

Sharon, here are some generic things you can do.
First, make sure that the software on your new ebook reader is up to the
latest level.  You'll have to follow the manufacturer's instructions to do
    this.
Next, make sure that you've authorized or activated the ereader with the
manufacturer, so it's live and loaded - so to speak.
Then, plug it into our computer and let the computer recognize it as a USB
device.  When the computer reports that your new hardware is ready to use,
start ADE.  ADE 'should' find the device and note that it has in the left
hand pane of the Library screen.  When it does this, then you can drag and
drop the ebooks from ADE onto the ereader.
Finally, when the downloads appear to be complete. close ADE.  Then, use
your computer software to 'eject' the ereader so that the computer drops it
from its list of active USB devices.  How you do this depends on the
software you have on your PC.
After this is done, look at the ereader screen and make sure it is updating
itself with the new content.  Once that's completed, you 'should' be able to
read the books on your ereader.
    Hope this helps!

  • I-tunes does not recognise ipad to restore after failed update to ios 5

i-tunes does not recognise ipad to restore after failed update to ios 5. Connected i-pad to update to new ios 5. Back-upp went fine but update failed and now i-tunes does not recognise the devise and i-pad will not work so I have no known way to restore.

    Copied from that article.....
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
Are you releasing the home button when you see the connect to iTunes screen? Does iTunes start on its own? If it doesn't - start iTunes yourself.
    Also copied from the article.....
    5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:

I have a 16GB iPhone 3GS. Tried synching my phone through iTunes (11.0.1 I think... on a 2009 Macbook Pro). Now when I connect to iTunes, it says it does not recognise the content on my phone. Is this because my phone (and laptop) are too old?
Also, when I tried to Restore the settings, an Error Message pops up that says " The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The requested resource was not found.
I'm trying to free up space on my phone by removing [literally] thousands of old photos which were originally synched to the phone, because I had forgotten to uncheck the photos button when I synched it ages ago.
I have also tried synching it on my 24" iMac (running OSX Snow Leopard). But again, when I try restoring the phone through itunes, it says the file is corrupted. It sggests unplugging the device, and then plugging it in again. I have done this numerous times with no success.
I'm guessing it must be because my phone (and versions of iTunes, and OSX) are all too old.
    Please can anybody help.
    Cheers,
    Dan_nz.

There are multiple reasons that lead to issue. You should read the troubleshooting guide to get the right solution to solve the issue: iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

    Hey Stan1958,

After updating my iphone5, my phone went back to factory setting and now I can't sign in with my apple id because it does not recognise it... Help?!

Yes, my telco is an approved carrier. If my phone was brand new, I think so, they opened it in front of me.. I really couldn't remember it was 1.4 years ago. It did seem new.
Well it says, "_____" cannot be used to unlock this iphone. I've tried both my apple ids but it didn't work.

You don't need an app. You need couple's counseling. I believe what you want to do may also be illegal in many jurisdictions.

when i try to connect my phone to itunes a message comes up saying it does not recognise it and must upgrade itunes to 64 bit i have done this numerous times but stillwill not recognise my phone.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
