I would first try unplugging All the USB devices plugged into your computer, and then plug back in just the iPhone and see if that is recognized. Also, do you have the latest version of iTunes for Windows installed on your PC, as you need to?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

What happened when you connected your iPhone to your computer while running iTunes on your computer? You should be prompted through the restore process. If it doesn't work try getting your iPhone into Recovery Mode.

You don't go to the drop down "Actions" menu to reply to a post. You find the post to which you would like to reply and you hit the "Reply" button. You then type your message and then hit the "Add Reply" button to post your reply.

On computer, at the top of this page is a Tab for iTunes, click it, make sure iTunes is up to date. Also make sure computer Fire Wall and Anti Virus do not interfere with iTunes, turn them OFF to be certain.

Your phone is disabled for some reason. Maybe you entered the wrong Passcode too many times. In any case you need to do just as the phone is instructing you to do. Start the latest version of atones on your computer and connect your phone. iTunes should guide you through the process of getting your phone working again. I have restored my iphone 5 from icloud but since i have, it is asking me to log into a totally different i tunes account. one i cannot remember ever using.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

Holding the home button and off button at the same time do not work. When I plug it in to charge or to the computer it vibrates every 10 seconds and itunes does not seem to recognize it. It gets really really hot when plugged in (which I don't think is normal). icloud does not recognize it under "find my iphone" either. What could the problem be? I am wondering if dropping it dislodged something inside. if so, what did I dislodge and is it possible to fix this myself?

Sounds like that drop was a critical one, my friend. I would make an appointment at your nearest Apple Retail Store, because you're going to need a replacement. Also as a side note: the reason that the charger is making the phone vibrate over and over is because there is a disconnect somewhere in the charge port of the phone, causing it to plug in and out over and over.

Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

You say your phone will not sync but then you say, "when it does sync."
Does it sync or not? Did you remember to select music to sync onto your phone before clicking on Apply or Sync?
You do have to have iTunes on your computer in order to sync your phone. And your music must be in iTunes.

I'm sorry you have to put your device in the DFU mode which means that you're gonna lose your data in your phone
