I find attachments to my sent mail which I didn't attached. I want to send you a 'print screen' example. The name of attachment only junk letters

There is an unfamiliar attachment to some of my sent mail that I didn't attached. The little icon is something like a printer with a Windows blue-blocks window on top of it. It attach itself only sometimes - I cannot really form a pattern about why this happens and want to know if it is a virus.
The name of the attachment is like: 'edghafbe' right next to the icon.
What is this?

How do I find sent mail which is disapeared?

Hello, sometimes Mail does remove sent emails. Now I want to find an email back, because it's really important. Is it possible to find it back, althought it's not on the server or any of my devices? It seems to be that this bug appears since the last IOS-update.

My sent mail appears in Sent mailboxes in every single one of my email accounts. I have four of them on the iPad and the behavior is the same in all four. One is POP and the other three are IMAP accounts.

Mail not showing attachments in my Sent Mail list

I have the paperclip icon in my menu bar so I can easily see emails with attachments but in Lion they are not showing at all. Old mails BEFORE I upgraded to Lion show attachments. Has anyone sorted this issue?

OK, I have no idea why, but the following worked.
I created a rule in the Preferences pane:
CONDITIONS
     sender is me
     attachment contains "." (every file does)
RULE
     set color to (anything)
The rule worked.
Furthermore, the paperclips appeared!!!

How to save an e-mail as an .eml format and customize the name of the file, for example the name of the file would be "date, time, sender, title"?

It would be fantastic if when saving my e-mails to my computer the file name could be customized to be something different that just the title of the message. As I suggested in the question if it could be set up to be "date, time, sender, title" it would be great, a lot of help when passing an .eml file between co-workers, or simply organizing your e-mails in folders. Is it possible and if yes, how is it done?

Although I can receive mail on my btinternet address I cannot reply or send. My settings , apart from user name are extactly the same as my wife's who has no problem. We are the same account but with different user names and passwords.

HT1399 I labelled an album which I introduced in my iTunes library and as a result several albums acquired the name of the album that I introduced ! How do I undo this?

I copied a CD to my iTunes library containing a series of songs that were burned for me and as I labelled the album, several of the albums which I had in my library acquired the same title. How do I go about undoing this?

There isn't really an undo feature. If you have a backup you can restore the library database and the affected media, otherwise you will need to manually correct the changes that you made.

I cannot continue to use my external hard disk which I used with windows. OS 10.8 can read it but declares the disk as "read only". Is there a way to change this?

I just tried my external disk on my Macbook air and I cannot save data to it any longer. This external disk was used with windows. Now i want to use it with macbookAir as I have changed my computer. It seems that OSX.10.8.5 can read the data on this external drive but when I try to save new data to it (pdf documents from the web for example) it refuses to save the data ans the message I get is that my drive is "read only". Please is there a way to change this or do I have to format the re-format the external drive?

You will have to reformat the drive for use with a Mac.

Sent 7 files to the trash and they never complete the task. A screen with the names of each file comes up with the running bar symbol. Then click the little x in each corner of the file name to stop it. Tried ESC and tried shut down but no result.

How do I get the 7 files that are going to the trash and then canceled to complete one way or another.

How can I capture email addresses from Sent mail???

This may sound strange, but I'm trying to capture all the email addresses in my sent mail folder. At my work I want to send a newsletter out to folks that I previously emailed to let them know about new products. I have about 6000 emails, per year, in my 3 years of sending emails on my machine. I want to see if there is a program that allows me to go thru my folder and capture all [email protected] addresses and then I can go thru them later and delete later.
Any thoughts?

The script to use from the collection of scripts is Add Addresses (Mail) which adds addresses found in the selected messages (in the header fields "From", "To", "Cc", and "Bcc") to the Address Book. Viewing Sent mail has no content, attachments missing in Lion

Lion and Mail 5.0 . Some Windows computers are unable to view email body content. Also attachements don't appear eventhough they have uploaded and show the correct file size in the my sent mail folder.
Sometimes an attachment shows up as a thumbnail only with no attachement file. PostBox works fine with these problem Windows computers.. body of text displays properly and attachments show up properly.

Have you set Edit/Attachments/Window friendly in Mail? There have been some reports that it doesn't work, but it is working for me.

Automatically Save Local Copy of Sent Mail (IMAP)

Hello - I use an IMAP account (several, actually) but want to save a local copy of all messages (incoming & sent). Mail seems to do this easily for incoming mail but not at all for sent mail, which seems odd and makes me think I'm just missing something. Am I?
To be clear, the IMAP sent mailbox and its corresponding folder in Mail work fine (I know how to set up "use this mailbox for..."): what I want to do is duplicate the contents of that mailbox on my mac automatically (i.e. don't want to continually have to copy messages and remember what's copied and what's not etc.).
Also what's up with not being able to apply rules to mailboxes? Is that fixed in 10.6 version? Thanks in advance!

Thanks Mike - I find the bcc option kind of inelegant and overly elaborate for what should be fairly simple, but in the absence of anything else I guess it's worth a try. On the "rules don't work" front what I meant was that there is no apparent option to apply rules to mailboxes: this issue would be solved if I could say "if mailbox is sent/imap, copy message to sent/on my mac" but the available conditions in rules don't include mailboxes. You know of anything I can do about that? I'd love it if I could get this worked out without having to create 2 copies of every sent message just to save one...
