Apps can be re-downloaded, and you won't be charged again for a purchsased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.
All apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account that was used to download the apps. Apps cannot be transferred to or combined with another iTunes account.

A purchased app is associated with an Apple ID. A user with a different Apple ID cannot use the app unless they also use the same Apple ID.
I cannot use my wife's apps nor she mine because each were purchased with different Apple IDs.

Is it possible for one AppleId, via iCloud, to access apps/games/music etc that have been purchased with another AppleId?

I'm trying to convert some of my itunes track unto my sd card and then play them with my zen. ? The problem is I can't figure out how to get zen media explorer to put the converted files on my sd card. Does anyone know how to overcome this problem? Why not? Because it isn't really possible. The internal memory of the Zen and the SD card contents are completely distinct storage areas and are not simultaneously visible to the host computer. You either have the Zen in MTP mode where you can interact with the internal memory or you have the Zen in Removable Disk mode where you can interact with the SD(HC) card. To answer your other question, grey text and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen would indicate that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". If you wanted to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you would simply change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. One other thing to remember about manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):

Why do I have to enter 2 different passwords to 2 different apple IDs when I have to update an app

Whenever I click on the update button I have to enter my current Apple ID password then it starts updating. But then it asks for the password to my old Apple ID. Because some of the applications you're updating are associated with the old Apple ID. This can't be changed without deleting them and then downloading them from the new one, which may require repurchasing paid applications.

You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other music you need to get them from where you got them before.

go to 'Edit' in the menu bar. Then choose 'Preferences'.
you'll see a pop-up and there's a tab called 'Devices' there. If you click that, you will be able to check a box that says 'prevent automatic syncing for iPods, iPads and iPhones' or something like that.

NB: if you don't even see the menu bar that has options like 'File, Edit, View, etc', first click the black/white square button on the top left of your screen, and then click 'show menu bar'. It should pop right up.
