i have a i phone 5 c and when inserting my sim card a message stating its the incorrect card and i need to insert the correct card or contact apple to unlock. the phone is from the USA and im in the UK. how do i contact apple to have the phone unlocked. ?

Call Applecare in UK and see if they will tell the lock status and who it is locked to in US ,they may charge you
The chances are that as the iPhone appears locked to a US carrier,they will not unlock it for you as you are not or have not ever been a customer
Did you buy on eBay ? if so file a claim and get your money back

Apple do not lock iPhones and therefore do not unlock them
Carriers lock the iPhones they sell as the are part of a package which subsidises the purchase price of the iphone

Yes, change the password - however, the problem is that the email addresses have already been stolen, so the damage is already done.
In fact, I had a similar problem with my Yahoo account; so, for now, I've actually taken most close friends' addresses off (deleted them); not sure that that will help either, but at least they won't be able to steal them in the future.

When i put in a compact flash card iphoto automaticaly comes up to import my photos. I have to exit out of iphoto to use the editing softwear that i prefer to use every time. It is very annoying. How do i prevent this from happening?

iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> General -> Connecting Camera opens.... And select your preferred app.
You can also make the same choice in the Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) and Aperture preferences.

Possible causes:
1) Improper SIM card placement.
2) Faulty SIM card.
3) "No service" area of the cellular network.
4) Unsupported carrier.
5) Network locked iPhone. Trying to a activate a locked iPhone on a different cellular network. (Other than to which it is originally locked to).
6) The computer doesn't have an internet access on which you are trying to activate your iPhone using iTunes.
7) Apple server busy (rare).

The only way that I know currently know of to remove old or incorrect email addresses from the Mail app is to reset the iPad back to factory defaults, which I assume that you don't want to to. You could try leaving feedback for Apple and maybe one day we'll day be able to edit them : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html#ipad

Sorry, but what do you may by "why I have a balance"? What "balance" are you referring to? Do you mean that the iTunes Store shows that you now owe them money? If so, did you account for any sales taxes when you calculated that you had sufficient balance on your card to cover the purchases?

Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and tis now relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Where did you acquire this iPhone?
What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier?

Thank you very much for your answer! I have 2 Apple ID, and I have tried both of them and the problem continues. I founf several peolpe with the same problem in apple communities foruns and that really seems that there is some problem. I addded the links for 2 of those discussions.

Ipad 4 won't turn on at all, and is recognized by itunes as being in recovery mode- when I try to restore it stalls on the portion stating "preparing device for restore" and on the page it says "itunes is restoring the software." Been like this for a day. I read the restore notes on apple, but this seems to be a little more unique than the standard recovery issues. Any ideas as to why I seem to keep stalling during the restore process?

Couple of things I can think of before going to the Apple store.
First, if you can, power off the iPad. Then connect it to the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a known good wall outlet. Leave it there at least an hour then try to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
Also, you mentioned you have the latest iTunes. But it would be good to check the actual version. If the iPad is running iOS 7 you need iTunes 11.1 or later.

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If after reboot that doesn't help...
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
