Imagine the nightmare which can occurs for the vulgum pecus who isn't, by definition, a power user aware of all the requirements for running a System in optimal conditions.
May be Safari is one step in advance on its time but lambda users are paying the price for it. -

Apps are tied to the Apple ID you purchased them on and not the device so getting them all back is easy so long as you know the account details. To reinstall the apps just use the App Store and use the original Apple ID (account) that was used to purchase them, then re-install. If you setup a new Apple ID on your device when you initialized iOS 5 then go into the App Store app and change the account back to the one that was there before. Then go to update > Not on this iPhone and start installing... -

Since updating my iPhone 4s to ISo 6 my wifi setting is a pale grey and can not be turned on. Have tried restore, reset network settings and updated to ISP 6.0.1, anyone have any suggestions as this is really frustrating.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Do you mean that you've reset your account's password ? If you do then have you logged out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then logged back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it ?
