Download RecBoot and see if that will kick it into recovery mode, so your computer sees it and you can do a restore.

    First see if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
    Next try DFU mode and restore.

    Connect to iTunes and restore. If you have difficulty, you may have to put the device into Recovery Mode. See the instructions in this support document. If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

  • While updating my iphone software it got intruppted and now showing connect to itune not getting restored

    while updating my iphone software it got intruppted and now showing connect to itune not getting restored please help

    Try doing a hard reset on the phone;
    1. Hold Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time;
    2. Wait for the Apple logo to appear (ignore the slide to Power Off option)
    3. Let go of the buttons when you see Apple on the screen
    4. Allow iPhone to reboot;
    If you are still unable to get the phone to power on, charge, or connect to iTunes; it could possibly require service. (hardware replacement)

  • Ipod Touch Bricked while updating to 3.1.3

    My iPod is a 2nd Gen. I have Windows 7. My update was going fine until the end, when it said that the update failed. I submitted the problem to Apple, but of course that did nothing. My iPod now is a black screen and responds to nothing. Won't turn on, won't enter recovery mode. When I plug it into my computer through USB, it says USB device not recognized. I have taken this problem to the Apple store, and they claim that "It's surely a coincidence that this occurred while updating". I am not in warranty, and they want me to buy a new iPod. My sister's iPod had this exact same problem twice, yet her computer is Windows Vista. She was under warranty, so she just got a new one before we could do any analysis on it. I've pretty much given up on Apple, but would still be pleased if my iPod would work. Any help appreciated.

    Also delete the ipod software file located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates to make iTunes download a new copy when you connect in recovery mode. Maybe the file stored on your PC is damaged.

    What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
    Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
    Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
    If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?

  • Ipod touch frozen while updating

    Hello, I just bought my ipod touch, and when I had just finished registering the ipod, there was a software update notification which I clicked.  It turned off and an apple logo appeared, along with a download progress line.  However, it's stayed at the same place for the past hour.  I can't seem to turn of the ipod or do anything.  Please help asap.  Thank you!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • 3rd gen ipod touch will not sync having done so on coutless occassions and now it just does 1 phase of sync

    I have a 3rd gen 8gb ipod touch when I try to sync it it goes through phase one of the sync and then says sync complete, changing nothing on the ipod
    if I reset my Ipod and it wipes everything off and then it still wont sync I will have a worthlerss ipod no tune or apps on it

    I have checked for latest updates but there are none i had the errors wrong they are actually:
    "Attempting to copy to the disc "iPod touch" failed. An error occurred while writing to the device."
    "iTunes could not copy "song name" to the iPod "iPod name" because an unknown error occurred (-20)."
    the strange thing is i am allowed to take things off because i had some voice recordings and they got transferred into iTunes but its just copying onto the device that is the problem i also checked my Anti-Virus software and it hasn't blocked iTunes or anything associated with Apple. i will also check my computer's manufacturing website for updates.

  • My iPod touch froze while updating to iOS 6 over wifi, what do i do?

    I started updating my ipod to iOS 6 over wifi, and it just froze part of the way in to the update, and I am unable to connect to my iTunes account right now.

    Looks like you need to put your device into DFU mode:
    To put the device in DFU mode, connect the device to iTunes and hold both the power button and the home button down, after 10 seconds, release the power button but leave the home button pressed until it goes into DFU mode. iTunes should then recognize that the device has entered DFU mode and ask to restore.
    I hope that helps.
