I have Macbook Pro 2013 with pre installed iPhoto. And an iMac without this app. Do I have to buy it for iMac to use?

So the question is - can I use iPhoto with my iMac since I have it on my Macbook Pro. App Store offers me to buy it.

From the iMac, log into the App Store with the AppleID you used to set up the MBP. Then check your Purchases list

It's very annoying and there's no way we know of to get around it. Searching and searching online led nowhere.

Has it occurred to you that CS3 isn't compatible with Mavericks? Try using CS9 or 10.
Sorry that's untrue. I have Photoshop CS3 running on 10.9.
CS9 or 10? Now you are just making stuff up.
Adobe claim CS3 will work, with a minor issue…

The Adobe updater fails to work for me.
I was prompted to install J6RE which came from Apple, check the Apple support downloads http://support.apple.com/downloads/#java%206
Sorry can't provide a direct link, it was just a dumb 'You need … please click install' dialog.
I think the 10.9 java updater is installing version 7.

I do know that for new MBPs there is a no questions asked return policy if returned within 14 days of purchase.  I am not certain if that applies for peripherals.  If you have not damaged it, I would think that the odds are on your side if you return it for a refund.  Obviously you have a good reason for the return.
Then it may be a good reason to purchase a new MBP.    In any event, call the store and ask.
    Ciao.

Is ther some limit to the number of books or total storage used in IBooks?  Thanks....

    Hi jybravo70,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may be experiencing issues on your non iOS 8 devices because iOS 8 is required to set up or join a Family Sharing group.
The following information is located in the print at the bottom of the article.
Apple - iCloud - Family Sharing
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • My macbook pro said it was installing updates and when i clicked ok, its now dead in the water

So the first thing that was wrong with it was when I tried to install updates it wouldn't let me. I think I tried that like three times and right at the end of installing it said there was an error that occurred then showed my hard drive symbol. After that I noticed that google Chrome wouldn't open anymore, as soon as I opened it it said an error had occurred again and gave me some options or reopen, report or close... I just closed it because I didnt want to deal with that. Then the next thing was my downloading speed only maxed out at about 20kbs... When normally I think it use to hit 600 or 700. Then after that none of my icons would respond and started dissipating off the screen! So I tried restarting it and when It was on the white boot up screen it flashed a little black and white world symbol about the size of the apple logo that is suposed to be on that screen. Then when I got on there was no top bar.. Only some apps worked and thats pretty much it.
this is a transcript of the email that has my macbook pro right now

You provided no system or os profile.  This is very important when users here try to help.
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left for starters?

  • 13" vs 15" MacBook Pro comparison with premiere, final cut and vmware usage

I'm looking to get back into Macs after a long time away (SGI then PC).
I'd really prefer a top spec 13" MacBook Pro (rather than the 15) so long as it does what i want, i'm swapping a vaio for it so i'm used to a certain size.
I would be making use of various graphics apps - photoshop, premiere, after effects, modo, final cut as well as needing to run visual studio 2008 and having a complete PC development environment set up.
I know i can boot camp so that's always possibility although i would like to run vmware fusion ideally.
I'm not too fussed about the screen size because i run 2x 24" off my main machine for proper editing/development and if i do use the laptop for development i'd be plugged into a larger monitor on location somewhere.
My questions are how will the 9400M graphics card react to the above software? I don't play games so that's not an issue. Most 2D graphics software isn't that reliant on heavy 3D processing (except perhaps modo) but perhaps for the mac side of things that's not as true these days?
Is there anywhere where someone has benchmarked real applications on the 9600 vs 9400?
any advice or pointers would be very welcome!
    cheers
    paul

    Hi,
I've been using my new 13" MBP for about a week now. I've been using Parallels to run XP/Vista/Windows 7 betas and occassionally Server 2003/8 on my MacPro for a couple of years and wanted a similar portable environment. I'm a .NET developer so I use VS2005/8, SQL Server 2005/8 and IIS for testing mostly C# code and database driven ASP.Net web applications.
I was sceptical about all of the above being achievable on this tiny machine (it replaces a much-loved Powerbook G4 and a one year old 15" Acer Aspire, which looks like a breezeblock in comparison) and was initially bracing myself to take the hit of the 2.6Ghz 15" machine with 256MB dedicated graphics. But the people at the Apple suggested I give the smaller, cheaper machine a fourteen day trial and so here I am building a Silverlight site with SQL server backend in Vista. It runs just fine and the sheer portability of this 13" machine along with its cheeky, pint-sized charm means that I'm sticking with it thanks very much
I may yet use bootcamp and run XP/Vista natively to squeeze out some performance gains, but this would be more due to geekish tendencies on my part than genuine need for a faster os.
I urge you to try the 13incher - you won't regret it!

  • Macbook Pro 2013 with two external monitors (Docking station)?

    Hi there,
I am currently using an iMac 27 2013, but have come to the conclusion that a Macbook Pro 13" would suit my needs better as I now often need a mobile solution.
However, when at home, I would like to hook it up to my two external Dell (Mini DP) monitors in order to have more workspace.
For that, I am looking for some kind of Docking Station because it would be awesome just to have to plug in one cable and not all the USB cables for my other stuff, like midi keyboard etc.
Is there something I can purchase that offers me all I need or would you rather stay with the iMac?
    Thank you!

Maybe someone with a 2010 model will jump in and correct me, but as you only have a single Mini DsplayPort adapter, I don't think that it's possible to have two external models on a 2010 model. You can only do it on 2011+ via Thunderbolt using Thunderbolt Displays.
You might want to ask your question in the Apple Cinema Display forum, though. I'm just not aware that it can be done.

  • Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature - Can someone help me I'm on a Macbook Pro 2013 with CS6?

I get this error message when I try to use Camera Raw in Bridge - all my other adobe products work fine. "Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature"  I have a 2013 Macbook Pro - I have also updated all the know adobe updates online.

    Just a clarification in general:

  • If you reset your macbook pro, will the pre-installed apps still be there?

Like, if you reset the computer will apps like system prefs and safari be there
Also, i would like to reset my computer and i have ILife installed, if i reset it, will ILife still be there?
Because ILife came pre-installed with the computer and i do not have the disk
    Thanks guys
    Pat,

I just performed a reinstall of my OS and data on my MBP and this is the procedure I used.
I cloned the MBP using Carbon Copy Cloner to an external HDD.  The clone has all of the data on that external HDD, including all applications and the OS.  In addition it can boot the MBP.
I then used a previously made OS thumb drive and opened Disk Utility>Erase and formatted the internal HDD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  You can achieve the same result by accessing the Recovery Partition and use Disk Utility from the four part menu.
I then reinstalled the OS.  You would do the same from the four part menu in the recovery partition.
I then connected the clone to the MBP and transferred my data, including all applications that were not included in the OS reinstallation.  In your case, this would be the iLfe applications as well.
Backups are important if you value your data.
    Ciao.

It was a list of about five updates, but the one that stands out is the Lion OS X complete update - I think.
