Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.) -
Just got an iPad. I have a PowerPC G4 OS X 10.4.11 at home (Tiger). I tried to sync with my iTunes but it says I need iTunes 10.1 or later. I tried to download the newest version of iTunes and it says I need OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or later. How do I use my iPad without having to upgrade my home G4 to a Leopard?
If anyone can help me get around this, I really appreciate it!I am pretty sure that you can still but Leopard - maybe even search the online Apple Store.
If it were feasible and affordable, the ideal situation would be to upgrade your Mac - buy a new one with Snoe Leopard on it. That's easier said than done with you having just bought an iPad. But Leopard will be as high as you can go on the Power PC and soon Lion will be here.
I recently (3 months ago) upgraded my Leopard MacBook to Snow Leopard in anticipation of Lion. I love Macs and Apple products, but at some point, as with other tech devices, you have to upgrade to keep up with the technology.
Good luck! -
i have updated my 4s iphone to ios 6.1.3 and have trouble connecting it to wi fi . i tried to back up it on itunes and then restore it but now i have left with a phone that still doesnt connect to wi fi and lost all my data. anyone knows how to fix it?
If no change after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup, there is a hardware problem.

I have just bought an iPhone 5 and it won't sync to iTunes. It says it needs iTunes 10.7, which I have downloaded and installed. I still get the error message and looking at "about iTunes" it says 10.6.3. What do I do??
Perhaps check to see if you're accidentally running two different versions of iTunes. There's some information on troubleshooting that in the Opening iTunes section of the following document:

I have an Apple ID created in India. I will be living in US now on. So when I try to buy apps from here, I get a reply saying, I need to change my store to US. So do I have to create a new ID or can I in anyway continue with this same ID ?
You can use the same ID but you will need a U.S. based credit or debit card account.
This applies to the Mac App Store as well as iTunes...

"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location." -
I updated to iTunes 12 and didn't like it. Followed advice to revert to 11.1. Now my iPhone 5 won't sync and error message says I need iTunes 11.2 or higher. Apple Download choices didn't have anything between 11.1.5 and 12. What can I do? Using iTunes 12 is not an option. Many features I used for audiobooks have disappeared.
The version immediately prior to 12 was 11.4.0.18. Here are direct download links from Apple's servers:
iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-09-09)
iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-09-09)

Yes, I see that I can get the later version of OS software, but its not availabe for immediate download. My only options appear to be having it shipped, or going to the store to purchase. Unfortunately, unless you know the Apple ID, there is absolutely nothing that can be done, you cannot use your mobile device. You may be able to find your Apple ID at Look up your old and forgotten Apple ID -
I have two accounts with itunes, my first one i had a ton of music i downloaded to and now i've lost my password to my yahoo account and its been long enough now they have deleted and recycled my email account, how can i get them back on my account i'm no
You are going to need to change the email address you use with your old ID. Once you have got access to your old account you will then log into both accounts at the same time on your Mac and transfer your data to a single account. We can do this later, but need you to get access to your old account first.

my new iphone 5 is not syncing with my mac computer- computer says i need itunes 10.7; i downloaded 10.7 but it still is not syncing
If you didn't install 10.7, install it. If you did, launch iTunes straight from the Applications folder.

So I tryed to download it on the apple website but it keeps saying that there is an error. I have already tryed uninstalling all Apple Inc. programs on my laptop then trying to install iTunes again but that has had no success what so ever. I have started to get very frusterated with this . Hopefully someone can help. I would really appreciate it. Any suggestion?
So I tryed to download it on the apple website but it keeps saying that there is an error.
What does the error message say? (Precise text, please.) -
having trouble transferring audiobook from Overdrive Media on desktop to iphone. Popup says I need Itunes 11.1 or higher. I have updated the desktop and the phone (I thought) updated regularly. No need for updates showing.
If you go into iTunes and click on Help, what version number does it say you have? This message does not have anything to do with updating iTunes on the phone. iTunes on the phone serves a different function that that of the iTunes on your computer. It is referring to updating iTunes on the computer.

I have a MacBook running OS X v10.6.8 and I'm trying to upgrade to Mouton Lion but I can"t download it from the app store. It says I need a intel core duo which i have. does anyone know whats happening here?
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
If your computer isn't compatible, you might be able to upgrade to Lion.
Computer Compatibility - Lion
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
Application Compatibility
You can also check which applications are PowerPC by going to the menu, select About this Mac, click on More info…, then click System Report and select Software/Applications.
