Regardless of whether the user utilizes the check for updates features or downloads the update from Apples website, the same process is followed. The existing version of iTunes is uninstalled and the new version of iTunes is installed.

My iPod was last synced on a Mac which was stolen. How can I save the music currently on it so when I use my new windows computer I won't lose everything?

I don't have access to any Mac computers, so I don't have that option at all. And I'm not sure where any of my music was stored other than my iPod....it was possibly on another portable hard drive we still have so I might be okay, but I can't guarantee that.
Is there any way to save the music that's already on there, or is it going to automatically reset itself when I try to plug it in?
I have an older model iPod, if that makes a difference...can't remember exactly which but it's probably 2nd or 3rd gen.

Yes.
Launch iTunes on the new computer.
From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.
Connect the iPod to the P/C.
Now click File / Transfer Purchases From...

My iPhone 4 won't let me download apps or sign into iTunes from the app

Everytime I try and download an app I type in my password and nothing happens. If I click it again then it asks for my password again then retupe and have the same problem. It's the same when trying to log into iTunes from the app and the same when I try updating an app, If I type the password wrong then it tells me it's wrong. I've tried resetting the phone bye holding the two buttons for ten seconds but no joy? Oh and for some reason podcasts have dissapeared from my phone completely?

Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

I was purchasing an in app purchase and that app froze after purchasing and signed me out of itunes now i cant sign back in on my phone the sign in box comes up but closes after about 5 sexonds without fail every time i have tried and tried and tried. I've got the same problem right now. I have an old Apple ID that my whole family was using (of course that one works fine) but I want to sign in with my personal iCloud ID and it does the same thing that you described. Any answers?
Note: doesnt work in iTunes or the App Store from my Macbook Pro or my iPhone, but does work when I sign in to the Apple ID page in my browser.

If you sync the iPod with the laptop it works both ways e.g. it will copy stuff from your iPod to your laptop as well as vice versa.
Alternatively you can log into iTunes on your laptop with the Apple ID you used to purchase the music with and you will be able to download it for free in store > purchased > download previous purchases.
2nd method only works with music bought from iTunes, not from CDs etc, unless you are using iTunes Match.

HT2486 I can't find how to import contacts from my mail and can't find a contact button in my mail. when I click on the word contact in the left upper corner like they told me a little box comes up with copyright info but doesn't give me any info.

Another question would be if the address book on Macbookair is like a central address book for all emails.

I am trying to change my country from South Africa to Uk. I change my address on my id. When I sign into apple store, it asks me to verify the address details. It then comes up with invalid post code. All that works is the SA post code, not any UK code

Tells me invalid post code. Will not take anything else except my SA postcode. Then Apple store reverts back to Soth Africa and not UK

I dragged the Photo library icon from the backup drive on to iPhoto on the laptop
That means you imported one Library to another.
Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
So the reason you're seeing small photos is because you're seeing the iPhoto thumbnails from the back up library.
So, what to do?
Do you still have the back up? If so, trash this bunged up library and restore from the back up again. HOw to restore will depend entirely on how you made the back up, but no version of restoring includes importing the library.

Calling the Apple store was fruitless....wading through interminable menu; put on hold; connecting to helper, then immediately being put on hold; finally disconnected.

What fixed it for me:
On your computer, open iTunes > My iPhone (or whatever name you gave your iPhone) > "Music" page
Uncheck "Sync Music"
Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
Let it run and finish
Uncheck the box for every song, playlist, etc.
Click "Sync" button (bottom right) (This step may be unnecessary, but I did it and got the result I wanted.)
Let it run and finish
Check the boxes for the music you want on your iPhone
Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
Let it run and finish
See if that doesn't work for you. I tried a lot of things that did nothing, but this seems to have fixed it, and quickly.
