I just found my old ipod touch (i think 1st generation) and would like to let my toddler use it instead of my phone. I am trying to download apps but it say I need to update to 4.3 but it won't let me update. I have the most recent itunes. any idea why? The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

when ipod starts up, shows usb cable to connect to itunes then asks for my lock password but cannot get into ipod to put in password. any ideas?
You may need to connect the iPod in Recovery Mode and then restore it via iTunes. See this article for instructions on getting your iPod into Recovery Mode.;

I just ran a software update and lost video in my FCP 7 timeline (OS 10.6.8). I get an error message that there is a codec problem and get either a green or black screen. Anybody have idea how to fix this?
what happens if you create a new apple prores 422 sequence and drop bars and tone into it.
Does it display correctly? If so, I'd assume the the prores codecs are ok.
Not sure I"ve worked with hdv2 material. You may need to reinstall your os and fcp and not do the latest software update. People have definitely reported problems with hdv material after the update. Maybe someone will speak up with an alternative solution. -

I'm so glad I stumbled on your dialogue here - I am having the EXACT same problem. Mine started about 1 week ago AND I have the same router as you, Comcast gave me the exact same response, etc... Still can't get my MacBook Pro on the network, though I can take the computer ANYWHERE else and it connects to any other network. Very strange. I can't get any support from Comcast and this is clearly their issue and not Apples. Did you ever resolve?
Even stranger is that I can get on Comcast's webpage no problem so they keep telling me nothing is wrong but I can't visit any other web pages as I am told "no connection to the internet". Even when I plug into my modem with DSL cable...no internet even though Comcast keeps telling me there is service and I'm online...I'm not!
I don't know what to do next. I haven't been able to use my computer in over a week. I'm typing this on somone else's laptop, who is connected to my netowrk (LOL). Any advice? Thanks! -

Try again and not if you can view the report before it is sent to Apple. That might have some information to help.
Also open the Console app (in Utilities folder) and loog for log entries at the time of problem. Copy any and post here
Additionally, have yo went to Tesco's support site to see if other are having this problem.
It might be due to a problem with Yosemite interacting with the sites. -
I just purchased an iTunes TV show and it successfully downloaded. It is now saying that I do not have the proper version of QuickTime on this version of iTunes (10.6.3).

the exact error I receive when I try to play an episode is the following:

i downloaded the GV app to my iphone but i'm trying to set up the app and it says it can't connect to google when i try to sign in to my google account.... any ideas what's wrong? i can access my gmail account just fine with my gmail app on the same phone

I just downloaded an iphoto update and when I tried to share my photos was asked for email and password. I must have typed in the info wrong because I keep getting an error message. I don't see how to change the info to the correct mistake..
I too added 2nd apple ID when I tried to get Free app from apple store just to get to NONE on the credit card needed. It said it sent confirmation email to my new apple ID email that I have to confirm. Problem is I can not get to the new apple ID email account. On my ipad it logs into my original email account and I see no where to log into another email account. If I go to my laptop, the new apple ID I created does not let me log into email where apple said it was sent to. It did not send to back up email account either.
Can I log into 2 email accounts on my ipad where it says mail at bottom?

If I used my original apple id I created when I got my new ipad, it will not let me get free app without credit card, there is no where it says NONE needed. I am too new to apple to start with credit cards etc until I get use to it. -
Last night it took 8 hours to download two t.v. show, and today it says it will take 8 hours to download the lastest upgrade to ITunes. Is there a problem with the apple server? I am not having problems downloading from any other web site and i have excellent wireless strength and a very fast download servive from Verizon.
Are you going over Wi-Fi or do you have an ethernet cable plugged in to the ATV? If ethernet, unplug it and reconnect the ATV using Wi-Fi and re-run the update. There is a known bug regarding updating the ATV with ethernet, using Wi-Fi fixes it. I had this problem on my brand new ATV and after searching the web I found this resolution, and it worked. After the update (which took about 20 minutes total) the ATV rebooted itself, I then shut it down, reconnected with my ethernet cable, and now all is well.

I bought and downloaded a movie to my macair and it showed in my library yesterday. Today however i can not find it. Any idea why that would be? I did buy it and not rent FYI
OK, I think I understand what's happening.
Movies are now stored in iCloud: see http://www.apple.com/itunes/inside-itunes/2012/03/movies-now-available-on-icloud .html
So they may take a while to download to your Mac. Movies are big, after all.
I believe you can guarantee the movie stays on your Mac by going to Preferences (in the iTunes menu at the top), and going to the "Advanced" tab, and checking "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library".

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Do you have any ideas why Motion 5 would run slow on a computer? I have an Imac with 8Gigs of ram, and plenty of hard drive space, but it still gives me the beach ball when I add a few lights and effects. I'm at the end of my rope.
You probably don't really need 1080 at 60 for your finished projects but since you're just starting out with Motion, you need to lower your expectations. A long way. 1080 is about 2 million pixels per frame, DV is only about 400,000. That's not just five times as many pixels for the Mac to track; everything in video is exponential.
Explore the training tutorials available by Mark Spencer. You will get an idea of how his super powerful machine reacts with the software.
Adding a light roughly doubles the processing time over flat scenes. Two lights increases processing again. Reflections require processing the lights and then calculating the reflections so add another quarter of the time required for flat scenes. Try working in ye olde DV resolution for a few days. Get to know the software's limitations and what gets imposed by your Macintosh. Step up to 720p/30 and see how things slow down.
