I lose sound after about 20 seconds on video in CS6. It plays fine outside of CS6. Why?

And what does "CS6" refer to exactly? In any case, ask in the product forum of whatever program you are referring to and for the life of it provide more info like system specs, file types used and so on.... "This doesn't work" posts are useless.

Hi, this is my first time posting in a forum and using a video editor so I'm a REAL newbie! I have several .mov files that I took from my video camera that I am trying to import. When I add the first moving to the timeline the video looks great. However, the audio drops out after a few seconds. In the audio screen I can see squiggly lines show audio for the first few seconds and then just a flat line of no audio. I can't figure out what the problem is. Please help!

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below

Once you know exactly what it is you are editing, report back with that information... and your project setting, and if there is a red line above the video in the timeline, which indicates a mismatch between video and project

Exporting .avi to .mov using h264 loses sound after a few seconds

Here's a weird one. I am editing some movie clips, and when I do an export to .mov format using h264 compression, the audio drops out after a 8-10 seconds.
At first I thought it was happening after an edit jump, but nope -- it just cuts out for some reason. I also cannot export to MP4 format without losing the audio completely (shows as MPEG Layer 3 audio in the properties window of the original). When I look at the Properties for the exported movie, I can see the audio length is not the full length of the video.
I have edited clips like this before in QuickTime with no issues, not sure what is going on. I tested on MPEG Streamclip and I can export to either format with no sound issues.

I just got a cheap movie cam and it saves files to avi format. I am able to transfer them successfully to my Mac, but cannot find a third party avi converter. My 24" intel iMac won't read audio cds. It ejects them after about 15 seconds. I have virtually never played cds on this machine in five years. It plays dads with no problem. Anybody have any feedback. I also saw a fix by deleting some presence files.

I saw this on a forum from about four years ago:

SWF output "crashes" after about 10 seconds

I am creating a tutorial in Captivate. The "video" previews fine in Captivate, but when I publish the "video", it crashes after about 10 seconds. The SWF just stops playing, in the middle of slide 2.
If I delete the second half of the presentation, I can get the remainder to play through. I've been trying to isolate if a single slide is causing the problem, but I'm getting some inconsistent results.
Any ideas what might be going on? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot the issue?

Web player randomly cut off sound and stop playing after about 5 seconds.

My web player cut off the sound and stops after about 5 seconds. The only way to get it to work again without refreshing the page it to select a different time periode in the time bar. Also it happens more often at the first 25% of the movie.
I am using safari with add block on a Macbook pro retina (if this helps with the issue).

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 installed on?
Before export, how does the Timeline play back in the Edit area monitor (video and audio)?
What is your export - mp4, .mov, wmv, flv, .avi etc....? Have you tried other players, like the VLC player?
But, let us start at the beginning....
What are the properties of your source media? What is the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded the source?
How are you getting that source into the Premiere Elements project and what are you or the program setting as the project preset. See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio (even if they look grayed out).
The project preset description should match the properties of your source.
Now for the export...what are you selecting under Publish+Share/assumed Computer/. And what are you setting as the preset for your choice? Are you using the default settings for the preset or are you customizing them under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab?
Please supply more details. If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.

Photoshop CS4 crashing on startup after about 15 seconds

I was using Photoshop working on a project all day yesterday, and now today whenever I try to start up Photoshop it loads then freezes after about 15 seconds and crashes. I don't know what has caused this as the program has worked flawlessly on my computer for as long as I've had CS4. Any ideas?

Trash the settings folder the Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings folder in your User's Preferences but it sounds like a corrupt font or font cache problem and may resurface, I would check out the integrity of your fonts with something like Font Agent Pro and clean your fnt cache files with Cocktail.
The reason it worked fine is that you probably never used that font or it has since become corrupt or has taken this long for the cache to becoe corrupt.

When recording a slideshow, why does audio stop recording after about 30 seconds even though slides and presentation continues?

I'm doing everything the same and have made many successful slideshow recordings using Keynote, but since updating the Yosemite and then updating Keynote the audio just stops recording after about 30 seconds.
The slides keep on changing and recording the video, but after 30 seconds the audio stops recording even though it seems to be registering the sound and the mic is not muted in Keynote.
Is there some change or new setting I am not aware of that needs to be altered?
Any advice would be helpful as I need to record a lot of presentations.

I can't imagine this will work as the the application is tied into a specific computer and user ID to prevent unauthorised use of single use applications. Copying over has not worked with previous versions of Keynote.
It worked for me. I guess it could be because we bought our Macs together and have home sharing or something. Either way, I'm running Yosemite but with Keynote 6.2.2. and not updating again until Apple do something about this bug.

I don't know if you've got this solved or not but I started getting this too about a month ago. I just had it happen again about 10 minutes ago. I was on a website & BAM black screen, I don't hear the usual "winding down" of the hard drive though, so the HD sounds as though it's still working properly AND there's a weird hue around the edges of the screen so it's not pitch black as though the monitor turned off. Once I force shut down then I get the true pitch black screen before it turns back on again.
Also, every time this happens & I re-start the hard drive tends to be working very hard doing something in the background for at least 2-5 minutes not sure why?

Thanks for the advice and ideas.
I think that the vertical white line basically just shows where the mouse pointer last was relative to the time line, and if you move it from the editing window to the viewing window, it retains its last known position on the time line.
None the less - I implemented your suggestion.
Even if I move the clip further down the timeline, the playback stops about 1-4 secons after I hit play. Even if I move the clip 60 seconds back from the starting line, playback stops while the the playback position is running through the empy space prior to reaching the new starting time of the clip.
If I move the blue cursor that shows the current playing point to anywhere else in the clip, it plays for about 1-4 second and then freezes as before.
Clearly the playback freezes regardless of where it is in the content stream.
I have also discovered a new unexpected feature... The problem seems to be intermittent - if I open a few other clips, and play them, and return to the previous clip, it may run for some time and then freeze. After it has then frozen once, it freezes consistently after 1-4 seconds.
It is also worth noting that it freezes in quick mode too, regardless of timelines.
So there you have it - an intermittent issue.
I have bad to use iMovie in the meantime, which works without issues.
It is beginning to look like a bug in the application...

If yo mean the iPod will not connect to your wifi network:
Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Do other devices now connect?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Try cleaning the lens and see if that will restore functionality to the DVD drive. Use a DVD lens cleaning disk, if you have a can of compressed air, shoot some into the slot or wrap a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglasses cleaning cloth) around a business card and insert it gently inside the slot.
If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and get a free diagnosis from them.
