I lost my paper

I wrote a paper on the pages app that the Macbook comes with. I had saved the paper many times to iCloud on my computer. I was looking at my different options on my computer and somehow I got to a situation where it asked something like if I wanted to save my paper to documents. I clicked yes not knowing what I was getting into and now I can't find my paper anywhere. Please help it was extremely important.

If you didn't, it sounds like you will have to purchase Lightroom again ... which brings me to some advice ... you need a better method of storing your serial numbers than a piece of paper. I recommend using a computer file (perhaps named SerialNumbers.txt) that contains all of your serial numbers (not just Lightroom) and stored in the your computer AND the cloud so that you will never lose it.

I am having trouble selecting different types of paper to print on with Elements 8.

Also, do I need to download new profiles for this to work. I was using Elements 4 previous to this and when I upgraded, I lost my paper choices.

Hi bigwallchuck, I have the same problem. I do not have the capacity of choosing which type of paper I want to print on....The panel does not show up.
It jumps right away to printing.
When I print a document from Office 2008 (Mac) I have no problem ; the panel shows up (choice of paper).
I'm using an Epson Stylus C88+ on an iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS 10.6.2.
Also my scanner (Epson Perfection 1660 Photo) does not give me anymore the capacity to scan at 50%, 200% or 300% or whatever size I wish to scan the image.
Before I had a iMac 1 GHz Power Pc G4, OS 10.4.11.
Since I changed machine a month ago I have these problems.

Lost Firmware Password - How to reset Firmware in G4 PowerBook

Hi there,
My OS is 10.5.4 but this might be a little off-topic and if so, my sincere apologies.
Several weeks ago, somewhat stupidly, I created a firmware password for my G4 17" PowerBook using a third-party utility but have lost the paper upon which I wrote the password down. The paper is not where I thought I had put it.
Yesterday, completely forgetting that I had a firmware password in place, I had to reformat my HDD and have now discovered that I am unable to boot the PB due to the lack of the firmware password.
My questions are:
1. Does anyone know of a method to reset the firmware to its default state?
2. If not, is the firmware located on the logic board, in which case I can replace the logic board?
3. If not, is the firmware module replaceable or do I have to replace a complete motherboard.
4. Any other possible solutions to this problem?

Many thanks for your feedback. However, I have tried both the OS 10 install disk and the original disk that came with the PB but still get the request for the firmware password on startup. Regretfully, no luck there.
Anyone have any other ideas that might help? All suggestions will be gratefully received and tested.

Hi,
I am completely untechnical, so please help me in simple language!!
I just returned from vacation and my MacBook had run out of battery.
I haven't signed in for ages, as it was always turned on up til now and I had no need to sign in.
I had to change my old login , or username, when I upgraded my Mac, which is why I now cannot remember the new one. Lost the paper I wrote it down on.
I can't sign in, as I can't remember the login name. I am pretty sure I kept the old password.
I can't see the two accounts I know are registered on the grey surface face.
I can only see a box saying name, and one saying password.
How can I find the name of my account?
I would appreciate any help.

Wireless Router Help Needed! Please and Thank You

My warrenty has expired on my router, and Linksys is conveniently not able to help me get my router back on track. I have had the same problem several times, and have had the steps wrote down to fix it however, I have recently moved into a new place and conveniently lost the paper.
Usually it was a matter of just cloning my mac ID and it would work, in which I tired that with no success! Im frustrated and I need my internet for my schooling.
If anyone could help me it would be GREAT! Im not able to be on the internet to check so often as to if I have a reply on here, so if you feel you can help please call me!

First Connect the Modem to the Linksys Router on the Internet Port and then connect your Computer to the Linksys Router on the Port no.1.

Toshiba A505 Loud cd/dvd player loud noise!!!

I bought a A505-S6005 about 3 months ago. Everything works great but just yesterday i put a dvd in the drive and it started making a loud sound. It vibrates real bad and the fan makes a loud noise too. It finally stop making noise then as soon as it would read it again the noise would come back. It does that with every cd or dvd. The laptop came with a One year warranty but i lost the paper and the receipt. I still have the box and stuff. I was wondering if i could still return it ? Thanx

I would not rule out the possibility of it being defective, you really should get that looked at. Unless a Best Buy employee says otherwise, I think if you purchased your laptop directly from Best Buy, I think they can send out your Toshiba Laptop on your behalf to the manufacturer for warranty repair.

Password retrieval

Is it possible to somehow retrieve the password set for an XServe RAID? i set up my RAID over a year ago and never had to change anything to it and lost the paper with the password when moving offices. i feel so stupid.
if anyone has any ideas please let me know, also please let me know if my only option is to reformat the RAID. and how to do that when i don't have the password and can't really utilize the XServe RAID Admin Tool.

like your other self in the movie "Pulp Fiction", i call on you to solve a problem. i followed your suggestion, but after the push the reset button, the Fibre Channel Link light corresponding which ever controller module i reset goes off. in the interim when i try to connect through the RAID Admin i get a connection failure. this happens on both controller modules, top and bottom. on the desktop the XServe appears normal and functions normal.
what am i doing wrong? and what to do right?

Cannot print to wireless Epson since upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.3

HELP! Never had a problem before with Tiger! I reinstalled both Snow Leopard and printer. It will print a test copy after printer installation, but not from the Mac. I've tried printing a photo and document. Also, I lost my paper presets - can't find the photo paper!

The first thing to do is run Software Update until there is no more software to install. You should be at 10.6.6, and have all the printer updates installed. Once that is done, try resetting the printing system and reinstalling the printer. Then check that your driver is the proper one by seeing what it says in Options & Supplies. If it is not a driver from Epson, see if you can choose it manually there.

Help with Media Center & Remote

I Have MSI 180 with TV Tuner card and i have the CD´s for Mega180 and WinCinema, the problem was that after install Windows Xp for second time I Have LOST the paper bag with the code for MSI Media Center III, so i Can´t install it and I can´t install the remote control .
Someone can send me a valid serial for MSI MCIII or tell me how to install the remote drivers for using with another commercial version of Home Theater from intervideo? I have tried this but without the previous installation of the remote control i doesn´t work with it.

nidgew - To get you started on the MSI remote journey you should read the sticky thread at the top of the forum called MSI Mega Series Girder plugin available.
Basically you have to get 3 things:
1. The software tool called girder. I think they have a shareware version so you can decide if you like it or not before spending $$s.

3. Get the Media Player Classic extender. This has the keyboard shortcuts for all MCE commands. Here's a link:

You have to install all the above. Read the help files... Eventually you will have the extender set up. You then have to use learn or teach mode to learn the remote codes you want to be associated with each of the MCE shortcuts. This takes some playing around to figure out how you want to map the controls to your MSI remote control unit.
I have spent quite a bit of time and made some modifications to the extender to support the mouse and a few other things. If you want I can upload my version of the extender mapped with the Mega 180 remote codes.
I'm reasonably happy with this. Although the MSI remote is quite quirky. I actually use a Sony RM3000 learning remote to send the codes instead of the MSI remote. This works much better. But it is still a little weird compared to standard remote controls. However it is $0 extra if you already own the Mega.

How can I load PCL font using command line?

We have a software that requires a signature font to be uploaded to the printer beforehand. if the printer power cycles, the font is lost and paper is wasted. This usually happens when a brown out occurs overnight.
Our font vendor has a command line windows software that can upload the font to the printer. It costs 100.00.
I'd really love to find a way to upload this file using linux. The page is generated on linux so i could incorporate the command into that process.
Anyone know of free software to do this on linux or windows? or maybe programming documentation?

Configuration 2: Network Printer Server
When the printer is connected to a TCP/IP network directly, the best method is to send commands through lpr command. A TCP/IP device may be identified with a full qualified DNS name, or an IP address. In our test lab, we assigned our network printer a fixed IP address 192.168.1.22, and we use this address in the examples below. Inlpr manual page, it is also referred as Printer Name.
Another name you will need is Queue Name. The queue names are names assigned to the “processors” in the print server. Many print servers and network printers hardcode their queue names. Some allow you to define your own queue. On HP JetDirect printer servers, the raw PCL queues are named as raw, raw1, raw2 and raw3. In this article we use rawas the queue name.
Note thatlpr command only accepts 1 file at a time. However, the step1 and step2 commands must be sent in one stream, otherwise the printer discards them altogether. As a result, you will need to merge those three files into one first. On Windows, you can use copy command:
copy /b C80D.txt +mrvcode39_4pitch.sfp +c5F.txt total.bin
On Linux/Unix platforms, use cat command:
cat c80D.txt mrvcode39_4pitch.sfp c5F.txt > total.bin
Now we can send these files (Windows):
lpr -S 192.168.1.22 -P raw -ol total.bin lpr -S 192.168.1.22 -P raw -ol data.txt
You need to replace the IP address, the queue name and the file name with the appropriate ones in your environment.
On Linux/UNIX platforms, things are more complicated. The configuration varies from platform to platform. Generally you need to set up the printer first. On RedHat Linux, this can be done using printtool. You assign a printer name (queue name) in the configuration, and you use this name in lpr command. Assume that the name is HPPrinter, the lpr command on RH Linux becomes:
lpr -P HPPrinter -o raw total.bin lpr -P HPPrinter -o raw data.txt

I had to remove the motherboard connections to the media reader to get a full length PCI card in. I wrote down the connections and then lost the paper! So I would like to know if there's a diagram somewhere or if anyone can tell me what the connections are?

WRT55AG help, please

Hi, I am having a horrible time keeping my router connected. I bought it in November and got it running after getting setup instructions here. Version is up to date on it. My problem is that at the end of every month, it loses internet connection. The last time I was blocked from logging into the set-up page. Tech support sent me a new box, same thing, could not access the set-up page. Had someone come and he had to do a backwards set-up on it and he configured it so both computers are hard wired into the box. End of month has come and again, no internet with the wireless box. I am working off of my Cox Communications cable box. I AM NOT computer literate but can follow step by step instructions. I have a few questions:
1. Why is it I lose internet connection every month, is Cox Communications doing something on their side?
2. If Cox is doing something monthly on their side, how in the heck can I make the router just recognize the change without all this hassle?
3. I have lost the paper I printed out for the step by step set up of the router, does anyone have it and willing to post it again?
4. Why now am I not able to even connect to the internet on my other computer via the Cox's box?
5. After doing a hard reset, does the download update stay or do I have to reinstall it again?
All of this is frustrating when you don't know what you're doing and how to do it. Both computers were working wonderfully until the end of month rolled around, I just don't understand it. It happens every month. Oh also, with both computers hard wired to the back of the wireless, can others still gain access to my internet? I do know the person who came out thad set it up for the use of 3 computers on the set up page. I can't keep calling him each month so I really need help. My kids computer is Vista while mine is XP. My XP was bought in November when I bought the wireless and the kids computer is not quite a month old. They sit side by so I can see what they are doing while we are both doing what we want on line. Now I have to wait my turn to use theirs.
Thanks so much for any help you can give. My next move will have to be to hire someone to come out and set me up or find something else. Has anyone used Firedog to set them up?

i don't think it's a router issue...because it's happening in every end of the month, so may be some kind of settings from ISP end is keep on changing... may be you can get in touch with ISP.
