I'm hearing audio when the website I'm on doesn't have any audio or video links.

Firefox version 27.0.1, laptop computer. Home page is CNN. I did not click on anything on that page, but did a Google search for quilting information. Now no matter what page I'm on, I hear several news stories repeating - the first one is about Barbie being on the cover of SI's swimsuit issue. Why am I hearing audio?

Nevermind. I just saw that a second CNN tab opened automatically that plays through their videos. While that's annoying, at least I can stop it.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I looked into your issues when no audio is playing while watching your rented movie. From what I found is that potentially the automatic sound selection may be switching to the Dolby Digital output and you may not have the setup at home. There is a resolution though.

i just want to know why the ipod touch (first generation) doesn't have any new updates! all the new itouch have this great features and people with old itouch cant have it! its not fair! thank you!

Your touch has a 400MHz processor and 128MB RAM, the 2nd Gen has a 500MHz processor and 128MB RAM, the 3rd Gen touch has a 600MHz processor and 256MB RAM, and the 4th Gen touch has a 800MHz processor with 256MB RAM... Obviously yours cannot handle the new OS as it was designed primarily with the 3rd and 4th Gens in mind... It's like older computers cannot support newer OS (ie a computer built for windows xp cannot handle windows 7 and a computer built for panther cannot handle leopard.)

Turn the volume up... in call volume and sounds (ring, notifications, etc) are seperate volume controls.

No audio when the screen is connected to the keyboard base

On my HP Split x2, I have no audio when the screen is connected to the keyboard base. The audio only plays when the screen is detached by itself. Sometimes I can get audio when the screen is connected and at a 30 degree angle from the keyboard.

I did the pluging in and out of the earplug and that fixed it!
I gave both of you stars because those were both good reponces.
The fix above has been a staple fix for no audio in both the iPod and the iPhone.
