I'm unable to access photos  within an album...

...all it does is start to play the slideshow. Any suggestions?

So when you single click on the album it starts the slideshow instead of opening the album?
Create another album, move the photos to it and see if you can get it to work correctly.  If so just delete the problem album.  If you can't delete it apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I have suddenly become unable to access photo library (iPhoto vers 9.5) on my external hard drive.  Also time machine isnt backing up to same external hard drive (LaCie).  The drive does show up on the desk top, but when i open iPhoto the library isnt listed, so I cant option click.

First, one should not try to run an iPhoto library from the same volume/drive that is being used by Time Machine for backups.  TM will continue to fill up the drive thus squeezing out iPhoto from being able to be opened and used. Also that doesn't allow you to let TM backup your library as it does with other files on your boot drive.
If you partition the EHD into two separate partitions you can run the library from it but that won't let TM backup the library which is important.
Are you able to see the library on the EHD via the Finder?  If so copy it back to your boot drive and open it there.  You may have to do some fixing on it.
Solution is to either run the library from the boot drive or get a second EHD to run the library from and let TM back it up along with your boot drive.

  • In iPhoto, how do you manually move the order of a photo within an album?

In iPhoto, how do you manually move the order of a photo within an album?

Within an Album? Drag and drop.
You can't do this in an Event.

  • Rearranging photos within an album

    Hi,
I wanted to know if it is possible to rearrange the order of the photos within an album on an ipad or iphone?
    Regards
    Adam.

Cheers Ralph will check it out.
I have just found a bit of a resolution by creating a new album, and adding the photos i want in there one at a time in order that i would like them in.
I think holding the photo until it wiggles and moving it would be a good feature to arranging the order of photos in a similar way you arrange orders of apps on the homescreen.
    Thanks for your help

  • Rearranging photos within an album PSE13

I need advice  on how to  re-sequence photos within an album. I'm using PSE 13.  Drag and drop doesn't work.  I also tried: right click on an album >edit album. This allows me to rearrange the photos in the right screen panel but the changes do not seem to be incorporated into the album itself after I check-off "OK".  Any help is appreciated.
    THX,
    Vinny

    Please select the album.
Now Choose Album Order in Sort By options.
You should be able to rearrange the photos in that album.
    Thanks,

  • PSE 12 captions and numbering of photos within an album

On PSE12, can I make the caption I have given a photo to appear on thumbnail within an album?
Is it possible to not have the # of the photo within the album to appear in the upper left corner of the thumbnail?

No, the caption can't appear in the browsing space, but if you are using the full screen option (F11) the caption is shown.
Is it possible to not have the # of the photo within the album to appear in the upper left corner of the thumbnail?
The order of the photo is only visible if you are in 'album order'. In the other sorts (filename, chronological, batch import) it is not shown.

  • Unable to access photos in iPhoto 08

Trying to access photos in iPhoto 08, and on some (almost always scanned not from digital camera) I get the circle and an exclamation point. On other problems photos I get a message; "insesrt disk or connect to server volume and wait for it to appear on deskktop and then try again." When i try to find in Finder it appears they are located in data section of Photo Library and therefore unaccessible. Possible clue is that it seems to happen with tiff files. Completely confused and grateful for any help!

No mystery. Your Library is corrupted.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Managing the position of photos within an Album

I am unable to drag and drop photos within a Shared Album.  I was able to do this  previously.  Is this not possible in a shared album?

Photos has very limited sort order for any album. Generally, either by date and time, or manually. You can only change that on user created albums. Hopefully, future updated will provide more user control.
    You're welcome

  • What is the easiest way to sort photos within an album.  I have photos from a trip but they are all mixed up.  Photos from one part of the trip are showing up in other parts.  Please help.

I have a MacBook Pro laptop and am trying to use iPhoto.  I uploaded pictures but they uploaded out of order.  Photos taken from different locations on my trip are all mixed up and I would like to sort them in chronological order.  Things I have tried have been time consuming and often take several attempts before the moved photo "takes" to its new location within the album.  If anyone can provide step by step instructions for this senior, it would be very much appreciated.  Thank you.

following article tells how to sort photos in iphoto:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2397
    also
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2388
article on smart albums in iphoto as well:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2389
these should help answers your questions, also in every apple application if you look on the main menu bar they all have a help section that is very useful in getting basic how to instructions.

  • Can't drag & drop photos within an album in iPhoto6

I can't change the order of photos in an album by dragging. Looking at the other posts, I've fixed the Helvetica bug several times (by re-activating the font in Fonts Book) but it still doesn't work. When trying to drag, the photo will migrate to a strange place within the album, or not at all. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your replies, TD. They are ordinary albums. I haven't made any smart albums yet. It's strange, sometimes when I'm trying to relocate a photo I'll see the cursor flash in another place on the page and the photo will migrate there. Sometimes there are no cursors at all.

  • Only when i use firefox am i unable to view photos in my albums on windows live...please help?

When using my windows live (with firefox) all the photos in my albums appear as grey boxes.

    See:
It is possible that you clicked "Block Images" in the right click context menu while trying to save an image.<br />
Check the image exceptions: Tools > Options > Content: Load Images: Exceptions<br />
    See [[Options window - Content panel]]<br />
*A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (<i>Site Identification</i> icon) on the left side of the location bar.
*A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Open the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Page Info" window.
*Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • Organizing Photos within an Album - PSE8

Once I've put a bunch of photos into an album, is there an easy way to sort them without moving the photos one-by-one?  For instance, suppose I want to organize them by date?  I've just got to think there's an easy and automated way to do that, but if there is, somehow I'm missing it.
    Help, please.

when you select any album , there will be a drop down present along with the Organize/Share/Create/Edit tab - "Album Order" - select that , there will Date (oldest/newest first).
    hope that helps !

  • Still Unable to Access Photo Editor in PSE 12

I am still not able to access the Photo Editor feature of my PSE 12. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times, and I am sill being told that "Your trial has expired," and that I need to buy now.  I purchased and registered the CD version.  I would really appreciate if I could speak with an actual person at Adobe.  Is there an available customer service phone number?  This is turning out to be a very frustrating experience.

  • Unable to access photos on external drive

I have Aperture 2.1.3 and I have been using Photo Mechanic to quickly import, edit, and save my photos to one of my external drives. I have been using Aperture to adjust some of these images by importing them into Aperture but the stored files have remained on the external drive. Suddenly, when I try to import the photos from external drive for Aperture manipulation the photos are not available for import. But the photos are viable on my external drive, and If I use Photoshop or Photo Mechanic, I CAN access and import these same files .
I hope this makes sense! I need advise!
    thanks to all!

.plist is the preference file. Go to your User/Library/Preferences and take com.apple.Aperture.plist (the preferences are in alphabetical order) and put the file on your desktop. Then restart Aperture. Aperture will return to its default settings and there will be a new preference file in the Library/Preferences folder.
If this clears your problem, then your old plist file was corrupt and you should put it in the trash and rebuild your own preferences.
If you still have the problem after restarting Aperture, then it's not the plist file, and you can trash the new plist and restore your old one from the Desktop back into the Library/Preferences folder.
Have you tried to reboot the machine. Sometimes things go wrong in the connection with an external drive and rebooting the machine clears the problem. You could also reset the PRAM (on boot, hold down Command-Option-P-R and wait for the second chime). Sometimes the PRAM gets corrupted and this affects the relationship with external drives.
You could also import the RAW files into Aperture, instead of using them as referenced files.
