Apple have never accepted trade-ins agains the cost of a new device. You will need to sell the one you bought and apply the proceeds to the model you want.

Wipe it clean and restore it. You should then be able to rename the iPod and set up an account with iTunes. I hope this helps!

i cannot sync,back up or add songs to my iPod Touch 5th generation 32 GB-whenever i make changes and click the apply/sync button it takes hours but still it doesn't sync or add music to my ipod............i thought there was a problem with itunes so i uninstalled it and downloaded the latest version but still the problem continued....the picture below shows how it looks after 28 minutes of syncing........

If you purchased it from Apple within the last 14 days then you can return it for a full refund. otherwise no. If you purchased it elsewhere you have to check with them.

My iPod Touch 5th Generation loses charge when the device is turned OFF!!! Help!
I bought my iPod Touch 5th Generation a couple months back and it has been working beautifully. I loved the new design, features, color choices, etc. However, just a couple days ago, my iPod has been acting up. I turned it off one night with a FULL battery (I usually turn it off when I'm not using it) and when I turned it back on in the morning, half the battery was gone. Originally, I assumed that maybe I just didn't swipe to turn it off right. WRONG. I charged it up, used it, and turned it off again for the night. When I turned it on the next day, the battery was practically gone. I tried not to panic, so I just restored the iPod to its original settings. I erased EVERYTHING. Then I charged it for a good six hours. The problem didn't go away.
This isn't a cheap device. I'm sure you guys know that. The only reason why I think this could be happening could be because of the new iOS 6.1.2 update. I updated my iPod about a week or so ago. And now I'm having this serious problem? That is the ONLY possibility I could think of. And this thing is brand new. I treat it like it is made of glass. Literally. I'm so meticulous when it comes to my things.
So can someone please help me try to fix this problem? I still have a warranty and the iPod is under a year old. To replace the battery now is ridiculous. It's brand new. I didn't pay hundreds of dollars for my iPod to croak on me after using it for a couple of months.

That is because you got a new computer. You can only sync all media from one syncing computer. You can sync from any computer to iPod using the manual method but that does not sync from iPod to computer.

My wife and I brought a Ipod touch 5th generation for our grandson after which he let a bully at school take it from him and change the passcode. We retrieved the ipod from the young man with a fare amount of run around. This is very frustrating. Like three months ago my ipod touch, 5th generation, just turns off out of no where. It will be charged and working fine but then the screen goes completely black and I can't turn it on. But then after like a day or so it turns back on and works until it decides to shut off again. My daughter knocked her Ipod touch 5th generation from the arm of a sofa onto a soft carpeted floor and the screen shattered. I took the Ipod into a store and Apple want £99 + VAT to repair this. I understand that this was an accident and accidental damage is not covered by the warranty. However, I was extremely disappointed to be told by a member of staff that the Ipod has probably hit its weak point when it fell, surely these gadgets should be more robust and not have weak points? I wish to make a complaint to Apple by email but can't find an address, can anyone help please? Thanks.

I have just downgraded my iPod touch 5th generation from ios 8 to ios 7.1.2 . after downgrading, all my data (apps, music, document) in the iPod touch were lost, but photos were manage to recover. when I connect to the computer, it show that others in the capacity column used up almost 18 GB of memory. What is in others? Why it used up so much memory? How can I recover my lost data?
You may not be able to restore the data since when you downgrade from a backup made with a new iOS version data does not transfer.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.
