I've Lost My Printer

How can I be sure that all of my data has been destroyed AFTER returning my faulty Officejet 7500A 910e?cc=UK
I've recently had to return my unit to the shop, but unfortunately they refused to attempt to fix it.
They no longer stock my AIO and have been given a replacement 'Brother' Brand device.
I'm not at all happy with their after sales support, and i'm concerned that my personal details may be compromised should they repair and re-sell my unit.
I don't know where i stand on this issue.
I can't bring myself to even open the packaging on the replacement as i've always used HP. Printers.

I have found that the Canon install procedure for its printers can be finicky unless all the steps are followed exactly. I have had a few Canon printers and multi-function devices, and in a couple of cases of experiencing something like you are facing, I went back to the original install CDs that came with the printer or device. You need to follow their instructions precisely, step by step. In every case, I ended up resolving the issue by doing this. (It might be good to uninstall any drivers you have recently installed before doing this.)
The fact that you deleted some unknown files indicates that you could benefit from this "clean reinstall."

What app are you using to view PDF files? Preview can be a poor choice for some PDF files - I recommend using Adobe Reader - http://get.adobe.com/reader/ - perhaps it will solve your printing problem.

  • I lost my printer set up.  Can I restore it from Time Machine?

I accidentally lost my printer set ups and need to restore them.  Can it be done from Time Machine?

If you don't know what they are, you'll need to go the printer manufacturer's website and check the drivers for your printer. It will then be far the easiest thing just to download them from there.

  • I have lost my printer

I have suddenly lost the ability to print from my iMac. No matter what program I try to print from (Word, Excel, Mail, etc) I get an error message and when I go to printer set up it tells me that no printer is selected. When I try "adding" a printer my HP deskjet 5550 does not appear as a choice.
Another mystery - if I do a search in finder it goes on forever and does not find anything. Before today I got instantaneous listings of anything that contained the 'find' spelling.
    Any help will be appreciated

Thanx for the input Steve. I did download the latest HP S/W as suggested but I also restarted my iMac and suddenly the printing and the finder are working quite well. However, I now have a new problem - Everything is suddenly enormous; the font on this screen, the mail box listings in Mail, everything and it all overflows the screen. It seems like an error in my resolution setting but I have tried changing that to no avail. When I first looked it was set at 800x500. What should be the resolution setting for a 17" iMac G5?
Also, I am confused - my iMac is an Intel dual core G5 (at least I think it is).
    Thank you, john

  • Windows 8.1 update and lost Oki printer

I have been using Widows 8 since I bought the HP Envy. The computer automatically updated to Windows 8.1 and I have lost communication with my OKI C5850 Printer. Have been trying all day to resolve. Tried to use a restore point to reset the computer but Windows 8.1 has wiped all restore data off the machine!!! Can you help please - I am desperate!

Since the Windows Update 8.1 Update (Multiple Editions) MSDN iso includes the retail editions of the Core and Professional, how I should do to change this iso so that, during the installation, allow me to choose which edition to install?
In addition, I would include in this iso my two serial numbers of installation (one for the Core and the other for the Professional) so that I should not insert any serial number during installation.
So, what should I do to reach my goal?
    Thanks

  • Lost proper printer dialogue box for Epson Photo 870

I recently puchased the iMAC Duo Core and am running OS 10.4.5. I successfully installed the driver for my Epson Photo 870 (which is included with the operating system as a beta version) and was able to print Photoshop Elements files (i.e. pictures) with all of the controls - resolution, paper type, etc needed to get photo quality prints. Now when try to print I get a completely different dialogue box that does not include the Epson-specific features. I have tried to reinstall the driver but have not been successful in restoring the Epson dialogue box. How do I go about doing that?
    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the suggestion. I located the drivers in the Optional Installs and installed. When I add in printer setup, I do not have the Epson USB option - only Epson Firewire among others. It must have gotten lost at some point if that is possible. That may be the problem. Since the printer did work until recently (i.e. last week), I know it was properly installed at least originally. I could not locate any new drivers for the 870 from the intall - only the Gimp-print ones (for a number of other Epson printers as well).
I had checked at work with 2 new iMAC Duo Cores and they also did not have the Epson USB option but did have the Epson Firewire. An older G5 with OS 10.4.5 did have the Epson USB option included. What else can I try?

  • Lost EtherNet  & printer

    Problem:
    a) EtherNet is stuck with a self-assigned IP address.
I've restarted everything in my setup (see below) - no joy. I hesitate to mark it as a hardware problem, because I managed to get the HP printer working once. The G3 also shows up on my hub with the control LED steady on.
    b) cannot setup HP 1200 printer on EtherNet in Printer Setup Utility
My Epson R800 on FireWire is OK, but when I want to add the HP it appears for a split second in the "add" list, then it's gone. It had worked before, and I managed to add it once after it got lost, but it's gone again…

  • Hyphen gets lost when printing to computer to plate

    hello!
i´ve got a big problem. I have a pdf from a client and everything is fine while checking the pdf.
acrobat preflight and my creo software tell me, that everything is ok.
but when die creo rip produces the output date, its a tiff file, the hyphenation at the end of a line gets lost.
e.g prob-lem looks like pro lem.
my client uses indesign version 6.0, with version 6.0.4 there are no problems.
the pdf is exportet to acrobat level 1.3.
I couldn´t find anything that explains this error.
We produced 18000 broschures and the client doesn´t accept them.
    thanks
    michael

Over years of experience in the graphic design and printing industries, I have seen this sort of problem from time to time with both film and ctp RIPs. They are most often, although not always, caused by an issue with the RIP software being out of date.
IF the hyphens are visible in the PDF, the RIP software should process them properly.
I have also learned that visual checking is essential. The client should ALWAYS supply a laser printed copy and even a cursory comparison between the film, plate or first sheets off press should reveal the more obvious problems.
I doubt that you will be able to tell the customer that the problem is his fault.

  • I lost my printer installation cd of my deskjet 3520 series

  • B110 wireless configuration lost every printer turn off

Every time I turn off the printer, the printer lost the wireless configuration, so I have to reconfigure the wireless network access every turn on, is there a way to save the setup?
    This question was solved.

I believe this is a bug in the firmware.  Make sure your firmware is up to date (Setup > Preferences > Update Product) and wait for a fix.
Until then, just leave the thing on.  It goes to sleep and uses very little power (almost the same as when it is turned off).
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Lost Ethernet Printer in 10.6

Since switching my system from 10.5 to 10.6 I have lost my ethernet printer a HP Laserjet 8000 printer. It does not appear in the printer list, have checked with HP who say it is fully compatible and have the downloaded the latest drivers.
My older 10.5 system still sees and prints fine to it.
    Any ideas?

Bonjour is not Appletalk. It is the replacement protocol that allows network devices to find one another, but it requires all devices support it, and many printers, particularly older ones, do not.
If this printer had supported it, the system would have found it automatically.

  • Lost Bonjour Printing!  How do I reclaim it?

Somewhere in the last couple updates I lost the ability to print from my laptop using shared printers or bonjour printing. Before that I was able to do it with no problems. I am guessing their is some file that may be corrupt or possibly a setting?
How do I get my ability to print wirelessly back??

Spent a couple days using PSR to no avail. After the first set of tests and repairs I did see the bonjour printing for about 1/2 hour, but it's been gone since then. I even went so far as to reset all of the printer settings, files, etc to find that my computer cannot see any of the printers in the local appletalk network anymore. Now I can't print to networked printers either

  • Upgrade to OS X 8.2 lost wireless printing capability to Canon MF8380c

I can't believe how difficult it has been to resolve this ... upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS X 8.2 and have now lost my ability to print wirelessly to my Canon MF8380c.  I've downloaded updated drivers from the Canon site, didn't help.  The computer is not seeing the Canon printer on its own and even when I type in the printer IP address, it doesn't work.  Any suggestions?  I'm not particularily computer literate - step-by-step instructions very helpful.

That's okay. With Safari being unable to connect I just wanted to check that the Mac and the MF were on the same subnet. So if you can check this, the IP subnet is determined by the subnet mask. If you have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, then the first three sets of numbers in your IP address is the subnet and the last number is the network address.
For example, a printer with an IP address of 192.168.0.10 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 has an IP subnet of 192.168.0 and a network address of 10. To print to this printer a computer on the same network would also need an IP subnet of 192.168.0 but a different network address.
So if your Mac and the MF have the same IP subnet but a different IP address then they should be able to communicate with eash other. But I think this may not be the case based on your Safari test, unless the new IP address the printer has is now letting you connect to the internal web page of the MF.
If you can open the MF web page now then open Print & Scan, remove the current MF printer and add again. Note that if you add the printer using IP, you must use the LPD protocol.

  • Lost my printer while trying to read Mac OS 10.4 install directions

So there I was - happily living and working with Mac OS 9.2.2 on my 450 Ghz G4 - and I decided it was finally time to upgrade to OS 10.4 Tiger for the new bells and whistles. After reading about other people's problems with upgrading I went to my local Mac shop and had a new 80 GB hard drive installed in drive position 3 to use as a backup for my files and as a backup in case my original, Apple installed drive ever went down the river. I bought OS 10 Tiger and opened it as instructed to read all the information staight from the horses mouth. I double clicked the "install" button as instructed and restarted my machine in order to bring up the read me files as instructed in the install booklet. I then quit the disk in order to digest all the information and do the backups recommended in the manual. I then noticed that my printer icon no longer showed up on the desktop ( printer is a HP 1220C which I've been using for 4 years.) When I now try to print anything from any program I get the error message" the file will be moved to the trash because no desktop printer exists for this spool file." I reinstalled the driver provided by Hewlett Packard but the printer icon still doesn't show up. I went to "chooser" and found the printer there and selected it as usual but it doesn't show up on the desktop and still won't print.
What did I do to screw this up? Is this a problem similar to "aborted system 10 installs" I've seen on this forum? How do I bring my printer icon back up onto the desktop? How do I determine if my dealer screwed something up since everything worked fine before they installed the new, backup internal drive? If I go ahead and install OS 10 Tiger anyway, will this bring my porinter back to life?
( The Hewlett Packard "printer utility" still works. I can still print a HP "test" page - but nothing else.) Was I nuts to even consider upgrading to Tiger? Should I have stayed with OS 9.2.2 in the first place? At least it worked.
    Help a drowning man please.
