I want something a little more than just iMovie 11...

i make a lot of flicks with recorded video, from both my nikon d5000, and facetime camera, i use high grade still images, and always end up using transitions and text...i want to upgrade, but can't afford FCP...will M5 be compatible with my working in iMovie11? currently operating on lion os x 10.7
also, if anyone has any suggestions on any type of app that has video effects on both recorded video, still images, and etc i welcome your advice! cheers!

so i could create effects in motion, export them (via quicktime to my understanding) and them import them as files, clips, or whatever and use them in my imovie? i suppose you could say that i am confused on how motion could enhance my making films....

Want to share more than just a public folder

I am running Tiger (10.4.11) on my PowerMac and I want to share more than just my public folder. Now I read several support documents from Apple suggesting that if I want that my only option would be giving out full root access to my guest user. I am not doing that.
I want to share my 2nd hard drive entirely. So is there any work around to share this. Either with or without a remote logon procedure. I tried the netiinfo manager, but couldn't get that to wortk properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to make iTunes support more than just one harddrive

The title of this topic says it all: How do I make iTunes support more than just one harddrive? I cannot afford to buy a really huge drive just because iTunes doesn't support more than one.
There must be a way around this! Anyone?

I sure hope so. I run iTunes on an iBook G4 with limited space. I've got about 15gigs of music on an external harddrive. I only use the harddrive at home so I like to keep a handful of albums with me on the lappy. There should be some way to designate a primary folder on the laptop for imports, and a secondary (external or whatever) for the bulk of the library. Maybe some nifty way to do quick transfers between them within iTunes. Like a relocate function.
Say I want the new death cab for cutie album on the laptop this week, but next week I want to swap it out with something new that comes out. It would be nice to highlight an album and select "transfer to secondary" so that iTunes can move the files for you, keep them organized, and keep track of them.
That doesn't sound so difficult...

A little more than Pages

I am new to mac. I have done lots of picture and label formatting in word. I am in need of a program that will allow me to do a little more than what Pages/(or even Word) can provide. I would like to construct and print 'labels' pictures with overlapping complex formatted text, upside down on irregular sized paper. I think Photoshop would do the job...?. Is there something else in between (Pages and Photoshop)? Any recommendations would be appreciated for this application.

Welcome to Apple discussions.
If I'm understanding you right, you want to have picture captions that you can rotate and otherwise manipulate. If that's correct, I'm pretty sure you can do that in Pages by putting your captions in text boxes. You can rotate one by selecting it, then clicking on the Metrics inspector and using the rotation wheel. You can overlap them by clicking on the Wrap inspector and unchecking +Object Causes Wrap+.
Is this what you need to know?

More than just a $25M fine!

I just read an article regarding the FCC's "fine" for Verizon Wireless;

It is a joke.
But Verizon is going to lose more than just $25M.
My contract expires in a little less than one year.
We currently pay around $150 per month. How much would I pay over years of service if Verizon were actually a good company to do business with?
It won't be just me. There are many, many people (just look at the other posts on this forum) that are going to leave Verizon as well.
Interesting business practice. Cheat, rob, and steal from your current customers, perhaps hoping they will not leave, and relying on new business to keep coming in?

Your statement that I (and others that have stated that they are going to leave Verizon) will not be missed by Verizon, is kind of, part of, my point. Verizon does not care about their current customer base. Once you are signed into a contract; they know that "most" people will not leave during their contract because they would have to pay a "fine"; and they count on many people just simply renewing, because that is easier, when the contract comes due.
Of course; not everyone will be happy with a particular business they decide to do do business with. What happens when people are not happy with a business though? They generally leave. Right? Sure, there are people who will hang on and just complain and keep doing things the way they do. I see it all the time.
That's great that you have not been robbed, cheated, or swindled by VZW. Other people HAVE! Clue: that is why the FCC has "fined" them. That would be for their "less than honest" business practice.
Of those amazing numbers you have thrown up, and pretty much indicated that the people who post here are a very, very, small number of VZW customers, how many of those who do not post here do you suppose HAVE been impacted by VZW's less than honest business practice? Even if only 1% of all subscribers leave, don't you think that will be a much LARGER loss than $25M?
I read most of the articles concerning the FCC fine on Yahoo news. People on Yahoo can comment on those articles. On just ONE article, there were THOUSANDS of people who posted their discontent with VZW (and one or two people who praised them).

Thanks again for the message. I've done the updates and have the App Store on my desktop. I went into it and searched for imovie but couldn't find the basic imovie, which I presume is what I'd need for editing?, rather than imovie 11 for £10.49, which is for making trailers, it seems. Also, were you saying that imovie would be free?

i want to display message more than 50 characters, and the fm 'POPUP_DISPLAY_MESSAGE' can display just 50characters, my message maybe much long, what other fm can i use?

Can I keep more than just 5 entries in the podcast page?

I noticed that any post in iWeb's podcast page that gets moved to the archive is no longer indexed by iTunes or other aggregators. I was wondering if there is a way to keep more than just 5 entries in the podcast page so that they continue to remain pasrt of the RSS feed and stay indexed on the aggregator.

In a similar problem, does subscribing to a podcast with only one or two current episodes listed, allow all the archived episodes to be accessed or visible in the iTunes Store as well?
I don't really see the purpose of the Archive if it isn't ultimately used for cataloguing available iTunes downloads, and I am thus forced to load all blog entries on the main page.
Or am I doing something horribly wrong?

Joining more than just 2 tracks together

Is it possible to connect more than just 2 tracks together from a cd? I would like to have a song that is continuous and i wanted it to be longer than just 2 track lengths...so i was just wondering before i wasted a cd and finding out it doesnt work!

Yes, just select all the songs you want to join and go Advanced>join cd tracks. They must be listed right next to each other though.

More than just MASK in 4 point in Keynote '09

recently using keynote for my iWeb design "front Page" ,it's useful stuff.
I realised that the Mask Edit c'ld be "Make Editable" in four point.
It's useful when edit in a round shape..how to make it more than just four point editable?

With the mask selected and editable, the control points should appear as red circles. Click on the point you want to remove -- it should turn white. Now you can press the delete key to delete it.

Is there a way to use locations to do more than just basic network config?

I'm trying to figure out if the network location can be used to do more than just the basics. For example, is there a way to automatically connect to network drives when I'm at a particular location? Trying to connect to them all the time (as a login item for example) makes the computer slow down whenever I'm at a different location. Also, is there a way to change the default printer or even sharing of pictures or music? It doesn't make sense to have a default printer something that's not available anymore at my new location, right?
What would be the best way to automatize all this (if it's not already supported?)

You can create many calendars. Here's the tip:
Example: you have 1 son and 1 daughter.
In iCloud ( https://www.icloud.com )
Create 1 calendar called Son ( Choose a color to tell them apart )
Create 1 calendar called Daughter ( Ditto )
Create 1 calendar called Kids
Since you are the creator, you get to see all calendars combined.
Send invitations to each of them
Son gets Son and Kids calendars
Daughter gets Daughter and Kids calendars
So if there an event for Son, just put in that calendar
If it's for both then enter it in the Kids calendar
Likewise for daughter.

Yes, I have. I want Tech 21 since it is my favorite brand. However, they are from the UK and it costs around $15 to ship to the U.S. Apple generally has some awesome Tech 21 cases and I'm hoping that they'll offer them soon for the 6 Plus. I have had numerous people call and ask why I didn't reply to their texts...and I look, but have not received any new texts. YES, I have restarted phone. I have cleared data as well as cache on all apps. I have downloaded the vzw messaging app, which seems silly, since it happens with several different processes and apps, but all to no avail. I am missing texts from my employer, from my family. This did happen, but rarely, before this "soak test". It is now Kitkat version 19.6.3.obake_verizon.en.US. THIS is when I started having problems...like 50 times a day kind of problems! I have seen hundreds of posts all over the internet over the past 3 days. Does no one know how to fix this??? Shouldn't there be a way to revert phone to a pre-update state? and no, hard reset did NOT work!!!! I have been with verizon for well over 15 years, but I have not upgraded my lines and will not in July either. This is ridiculous. It's not like my games aren't working, it is my messaging and "android os"...my lifeline at work!

Oh no, I am sorry to hear your messages are not working since the software update. I greatlly appreciate doing all that troubleshooting to try and get the messaging application back in business. I know how much I rely on my messages so I can understand the urgency to get this resolved. Have you had a resolution ticket opened since you started experiencing issues with your messages? Does this happen with all contacts or just some? Please provide additional information to ensure we get to the bottom of this for you.

Sorry - should have been more specific. As far as I can see, Keynote will only allow me to see the current slide and the next slide on my laptop when I am presenting a slideshow through a projector. But an old version of PowerPoint allowed me to show the current slide....and (adjustable) many more slides ahead (say 10)....so I could simply jump ahead to a 'future' slide and skip several slides in between. Net result being that I was able to matcgh my slides to group discussions rather than stick to a fixed, predetermined slide show.
As much as it pains me, without this facility - PowerPoint (old verson, not current one) is more useful for me! :-((

Just answered my own question - if I use 'Save a copy' it works... must be a glitch
