I want to prevent Twitter from accessing my Firefox favourites

I tried to tweet something from the UK Radio Times website but it wouldn't allow me to do so directly via the Tweet button. When I clicked on the options menu I was then prompted to set up some sort of access to Twitter by Firefox which involved giving permissions for Twitter to access my favourites. I can't entirely remember the details! However, I don't want to link my Twitter account to my browser and can't seem to find any options to reverse this action.
I may well have misread the initial instructions but any advice would be much appreciated.

If I click the little Twitter icon next to Share it, Firefox shows a yellow bar telling me it blocked a pop-up window, and providing a button with several options. If you aren't seeing that, you might want to just allow pop-ups for this site using the Permissions panel. You can access that in any of the following ways:
* right-click the page and choose View Page Info > Permissions
* (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
* click the padlock or globe icon to the left of the site address > More Information > Permissions
Scroll down to Open pop-up windows and edit the setting (uncheck "Use default" and click "Allow").
Then try again. Do you get the Twitter page to log in?

My Itunes library deleted all my music except two of the songs I bought from the store. They're all still on my phone, but I can't seem to be able to move them all back. I can get the music back another way, but I want to prevent it from happening again.

I'm not sure why it deleted everything. I had rearranged and cleaned up my desktop earlier, but I know for a fact I didn't delete anything. Now, I go onto my Itunes and only two songs I bought off Itunes are there. I had more that I bought, but even the ones I took off my CDs aren't there anymore. I had over four hundred songs and they're all gone. I can put all the music back on because I have it saved elsewhere, but I want to prevent this from happening again. Does anyone know what might have happened? I really want to keep using Itunes, but its becoming more of a hassle than anything.

Go up to the top of your screen on iTunes and click on 'Store'. Then go down to 'Authorize This Computer'. That should cover part of it unless you've already authorized a bunch of other computers to use your account. If that's the case, you'll have to go to one of those computers and click the button just below it to 'deauthorize your account' from that computer. If you're not able to access the store, check your internet connection to make sure you are connected. Hope this helps.. good luck!

Tell them they shouldn't print them, that the photos are your property, and you'll have to trust them not to violate that trust. And if you don't trust them don't work for/with them.
There are very few ways if any to really protect this kind of stuff. I'd put watermarks on the photos before making the slideshow. And since slideshows are 72 dpi, and good photos need much higher resolution for printing, don't worry about it so much.

I spotted this sollution from another user in relation to a similar problem:
Quit the app then reset the iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Even though I've let Firefox through my firewall, this message still appears. And whenever I try to redownload it, it just says installation failed. It does this with all installations... Is there something wrong with my computer? How do I fix it?

Sometimes you only disable the user interface of security software, but the firewall or anti-virus services are still running in the background.
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Why does Apple prevent ipad from accessing Extreme hard drives?

I have a very simple requirement. I want to access my pictures from my NAS (Extreme with external HD). While OSX can do this, Apple has prevented iOS from doing this pedestrian feat. It is very frustrating and 'feels' like it was done to merely propogate Hard drive consumption by copying videos everywhere. If Apple has to hang on this approach for their upgrade strategy, it is extremely weak. The ipads/etc. don't have enough storage to even begin to support the video storage requirements and backing up to iCloud to have a latent solution is even more weak. Even if I could get a 1TB I wouldn't do it as I don't want to stream HD videos that could be placed locally.
So Apple. Why? And btw, if you don't have a good reason, just think about all those enterprises, etc. that want server file access.

Yes, leave your personal account running in the background and the guest account in the foreground, or if that's somehow inconvenient (and with fast user switching I don't think it is really), you can lock the Dock with a program like Tinkertool (System?) or Onyx and lock applications from removal by locking their status in file info (apple+a to select all the apps, apple + click to unselect the drawers or non-apps, and then applealti to do multiple file info at once) and then click the lock square. Then back out to the apps folder info itself and lock it.

I want to prevent MyDay from starting up when I switch on. I have followed all instructions for doing this, but to no effect. I have unlocked and relocked.

I use an Macbook from 2006 with OS X 10.7.5
MyDay starts up every time I switch on. I don't use it, so want to remove it from the list of programs which start automatically. I have followed all instructions for doing this, and have of course unlocked and relocked the relevant page in Systems Preferences, but the instruction never 'sticks', and MyDay still starts every time. Anyone know what to do?

Check StartupItems...
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
/Library/StartupItems
Click Go. If you see any reference to MyDay, delete it. That does not delete the app Just keeps it from launching when you startup your Mac.
Just to be sure, you checked System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items ??
Unlocking or locking the padlock icon only prevents other users from changing your preferences.

GPO to prevent users from accessing the root folder of their profile doesn't work

Here's the scenario:
In a Windows 2012 RDS I created two groups called RemoteApp users and remote desktop users.
These groups are defined in the collection for the corresponding RD Session hosts.
These groups are not included in any other group, but they are located under an OU -called Remote Users.
In the domain controller I have created a GPO named "Restrict access to root drive" which is linked to the Remote Users OU.
The GPO I selected is - "Prevent users from adding files to the root of their users files folder"
This doesn't seem to work. I have waited more than a few hours to allow the 90 minutes update, plus used the gpupdate /force
but when a user clicks on the RemoteApp (Excel in this example) then access to the C: drive (which is the root folder of the user's profile) is enabled, and the user can create folders and save files under C:.
I tried to run gpresult for the specific user but the GPO I created wasn't mentioned.
I thought this would be a straight forward mechanism, but somehow it looks like something is missing.
I have read about loopback and expanding, but not sure if this is what needs to be done, and if yes - I'd appreciate if I can get step by step instructions. Everything I found so far was VERY vague.

One more detail that may be relevant - the DC is a Windows Server 2012, and the session host is a Windows 2012 R2.

The USER accounts need to be in the OU your GPO is linked to. Despite
their name, GPOs do NOT apply to groups, but to users (and computers).
Groups only provide an additional layer of filtering...

Is there a configuration option to prevent an unprivileged user from accessing the firefox profile manager and/or firefox safe mode?

I'm designing a locked-down Firefox user profile for use on public computers (common room in an apartment building). I can use existing plugins and add-ons to prevent access to about:config and to lock down the various firefox preferences but this is moot if a user can still access the firefox profile manager or can start firefox in safe mode. Is there any configuration setting that could prevent this?

Reinstalled 10.7.3 from the Combo Updater from apples website.
The only way to reinstall the Mac OS X or repair the startup disk running v10.7.3 Lion, is to use Lion Recovery The combo update does not do that.
How much free space on the startup disk? Not enough free space can account for the problems with your apps.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

When I 'Tab Groups,' the search function immediately pops up (and it won't go away) every time, preventing me from accessing my grouped tabs. How can I prevent this from happening?

Using Firefox 5.0 with Windows 7 on a laptop, whenever I click the 'Group Tabs' icon to the right of my tabs, the search function immediately comes up over my grouped tabs, preventing me from using any of them. When the search function comes up, the screen goes semi-dark and the search bar appears - any text I type at this time is entered into the search bar (the search function works normally). If I click any section of the screen at this time the search function disappears and the screen regains color - but only for a fraction of a second, and then the search function comes up again, along with the darkened screen. Hitting 'escape' or 'backspace' produces the same effect. Is there any way to disable this unceasing search function?

Firefox 5.0 is still in BETA and not slated for release until June 21.
Reinstall the full version of the current release which is v4.0.1, download link at the top of this forum.

I supervise the macs for a club and our policy is no nudity (porno,) lately we have been having a lot of trouble with that and in trying to track the culprits, they have started deleting the history. how can I prevent them viewing porno and /or prevent them from erasing the history? this has become a huge issue, we even have one person who has ended up in jail because of this.

You can't really prevent people from erasing the history. You will have to install a router with a (password protected) logging feature and reroute all computers through that router.
You posted with a Firefox 2.0.0.20 version, so I assume that the computer run an older Mac OS X 10.3.9 or earlier version.<br />

Could virus prevent me from accessing one specific site?

Answered what turned out to be a scam ad on craigslist for an Apple product and downloaded photos the scammer had sent of the supposed computer. I now find that, while I'm able to get to all other sites, when I put craigslist.com or craigslist.org into my browser, nothing happens. Could scammer have sent me a virus to prevent me from going back on craigslist to post a warning of the scam? (I found a way in by Googling "craigslist" and those links worked.) If this was a virus, what do I do now?

There are no true viruses for a Mac and just an incredibly tiny number of things that can act like one. You have to +deliberately download a program that will install one of those+. While I am sure somebody is trying to make money marketing virus scanners for Macs, currently there isn't really any need for one and I haven't seen a single posting on the Discussions assessing their quality. Since anything virus-like is so rare you have to go through the individual search procedures for each kind.
It's slightly possible to get a DNS redirect trojan, but you'd need to install it...
This one redirects your computer's browser to another website.
Also, beware of MacSweeper, malware itself!

Again, you have to download hte script and run it. It is unlikely this would come in the form of a photo. When you looked at the photo did you actually see a picture?

Computers don't really use name addresses, they use numbers. You may have speed dial for your friend Betty on your telephone but when you press the "Betty" button your phone really dials a number. That is what the IP number is. A DNS number the equivalent of an automatic directory service. You type in a name, the DNS looks its number up and enters it. The DNS trojan takes over the DNS lookup and fakes it to send you to the wrong IP. However, it is possible something else is wrong with your computer or the DNS provider which means this DNS and IP lookup is not functioning correctly. BDaqua was providing you with the numbers for an alternative DNS service and for Craigslist directly. Conceivably the DNS database could be corrupted, though unlikely.
