I already have some contacts in Outlook on my PC. I want to pull my iCloud contacts into outlook. If I turn on iCloud on my PC will I lose the contacts that are in iCloud (replacing them with the Outlook contacts)?
Do you not have a backup of your contacts? in case things go wrong?

I currently have 14,181 contacts that are on my computer, which an apple tech was nice enough to show me how to transfer all my contacts from my mac 2 "iCloud " account all though when ever I log into my "iCloud" account from a different web browser it still only shows 13,032. Meanwhile on my mac book pro, the "icloud" contact is still spinning like its trying to update the rest of the missing contacts. I have let the computer run for 2 days straight and still no progress. Is there a limit to how many contacts I store on "iCloud" I have upgraded to the extra 25 gigs per year. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it, because its also slowing down my mac book pro significantly causing it hard to do any other task on my computer....Any advice or help would be again greatly appreciated.
On the surface, it doesn't sound like you're reaching a limit in the number of contacts you can have.
I would first create a contacts archive (file >> export) for a backup. Then, go to system preferences >> icloud and uncheck contacts. Reboot. Return to those preferences and recheck contacts.
Also, review http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4489 just in case you have some contact cards that are reaching a different limitation. -

In order to have a separate 5GB of storage he would need to have his own iCloud account with a separate ID. You can still share the same ID for iTunes; it does not need to be the same as the ID used for iCloud.
In order to migrate his phone to a separate account, begin by saving any photo stream photos that he wants to keep on his phone to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos he wants to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud on his phone, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. Other devices still using the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, choose Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to his new account.
Finally, if there is any merged data in the accounts you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want from each account. -
Method needed to identify Contacts that are not valid from the Comp Screen
Problem
My Company has 65k contacts in the system, we do not delete contacts that are no longer at company, as when we buy data our data in some cases will be more up to date that the third party data available on the market. This then means when a user looks at a company record and the related contacts, he has to hover the cusor over each of the contacts to check if they are valid or not.
Goal
When a user looks at the contacts linked to the company the following fields will be presnt:
Contact Valid
Contact Leave Date.
This will then mean the user will be able to see without looking which contacts are valid and which are not.
Problems
I have tried to create a contact page layout with the fields needed however the only fields avaiable are as follows:
Company ID
Company Name
Company Status
Contact ID
Contact Name
Contact Roles
Location
Primary

However I think I didn't make myself clear in my post in terms of the problem. The problem I have is that when a user looks at a company (account) record the user see the following information in relation to which of the available contacts to select "Primary,Last & First name,Job Title, Contact Role, Work Phone and Email". However none of these fields show if the contact is valid or if they have a leave date.
Both Contact Valid and Contact Leave date have been set up in the system within the contact record. I want to change the layout and have spent hours in the following screens and functions.

The problem is the screens/functions where I think I could add the two above mentioned fields end up with me turning the fileds into required or read only fields, and the section where I want to drag in the fields to display has the two fields missing. -
Z30 Does not save contacts that are added
I just recently upgraded from a 9900 to a Z30 and am running the 10.2.0.429 OS. I have tried numorous times to add contacts by going into my contacts, hitting Add (at the bottom), filling out the necessary contact information and then hitting save at the top right hand corner. However, the phone does not seem to save any contacts I enter as when I go to search them, they are not there. The only contacts that are currently appearing in my contacts are my BBM contacts which migrated from my 9900.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!The phone is trying to be smart but sometimes it overthinks things.
If this is the case just go to the contact, click on links(x) and then click on unlink next to the one you want as a seperate contact.

When I try to skip through a song on my iPhone, it skips through several songs. The songs that are skipped can be played on the same iphone (when I go into to itunes library on my phone), so I know that it's not the song. I have the latest softeware downloaded on both my iphone and itunes. In fact, this only recently started occuring when I reconnected my iphone to my laptop about a month ago to install the new updates on itunes.
I also have an itouch and an ipod, both of which have been updated at the same time as my iphone and they do not skip through songs.Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

I have a Mac 10.5.8 op system. My Contacts do not syn with I cloud. Trying to get my address book complete on both systems and now I have lots of duplicates on I cloud adress book. How do I efficiently merge the duplictes that are now on I cloud?
You cannot use iCloud with Leopard 10.5.8. The minimum requirement is Lion 10.7.2. If you have been syncing your contacts with iCloud you can only have been doing it by some sort of unsupported hack, and if it doesn't work it's unlikely to be possible to find an explanation. If you have been using other (compliant) devices by trying to sync using both iTunes and iCloud you are likely to get duplicates.
A computer old enough running Leopard may well not be upgradeable to Lion or Mountain Lion, but if you can do so this is the only way you are going to be able to make proper use of iCloud.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space

Once an item enters the download queue, the user cannot remove it. Either let it complete the download (easiest) or contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the Contact page and ask them if they'll remove the item(s) from your queue for you.

how do you see the items that are backed up to iCloud - I have 4.5 GB that I have used but I cant find where to see those items...help
That is everything in your iCloud account. Videos and camera roll photos are only included in your backup, the size and content of which you can see on your phone in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage>tap the name of your device under Backup. This will show you the size of "Camera Roll", where these are contained. (You can't see any detail beyond that.) Photo stream photos can only been seen in your photo stream album on your phone, and they don't count against your storage so they aren't part of the 4.5 GB. Everything esle is either in the backup, the items listed in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, or on icloud.com, where you can see your contacts, calendars, etc.

I encountered a similar problem when finally (and with much regret) I was obliged to migrate my MobileMe to iCloud last month.
Many years of iCal history vanished without trace during this automated transition by Apple and iCloud then kindly synched the resulting vacuum back to iCal on my Mac.
Fortunately, iCloud wasn’t able to decimate iCal on my other Macs because (1) they are still running Snow and (2) I had switched them off as a precaution. Good job I did.
My solution was to export my iCal data on one of those other Macs to a backup file – then I imported that backup file into my Lion-updated Mac’s iCal. That restored all the iCloud-deleted iCal data back on to my Mac and this was promptly synched automatically to my Calendar on iCloud. So now it’s all there and showing.
Perhaps you could do something similar? In the meantime, be very careful not to let iCloud’s amnesia get synched to your iPhone (and other devices).
Experience has taught me never to trust an “upgrade” until it is proven to be working correctly and always to keep in reserve another Mac with a properly-functioning system and all synching to it switched off... -

There are no IDs that end in apple.com. There are mac.com, me.com, and icloud.com.

You have to explicitly share directories on external/secondary volumes.
Use the Server admin app to configure file sharing, and select which directory/directories on the second drive you want to share, then they'll be available to clients. -
How do I delete an app on iTunes? I can delete the apps that are shown in the library of iTunes by right clicking and hitting "delete". But all of my apps aren't shown in the library (I don't understand that either). I can see all downloaded apps in my account though. But I don't see how to delete them from there.
If you plug in your iphone, click on it in iTunes, and go to the apps section, it should be checked to sync apps if you want them to show up in iTunes as well as your iPhone. Once synced they will show on both.
Then if you click Apps under the Library header in the left panel of iTunes, you'll be able to permanently delete apps, removing them entirely from iTunes. Highlight an app's icon or a group of icons by holding down Shift and hit the delete key (or select Edit > Delete from the top menu or right-click on an icon and selecting delete). -
How can I get my books that I download from the Library that are WMA files into my I tunes so I can listen to them. They have a ton of books but I can only listen to them from my windows media player and I wouldlove to download to my I pod but I have tried everything I can think of it they won't go over. Someone said all I had to do was copy them over and they would convert but I can't even get them to copy. Thanks.
Well it started happening AGAIN with my 2nd IPod. No matter what I did, it Itunes would NOT restore it!
I finally installed Itunes on my hubby's PC at work and managed to get it restored there.
Apparently, there must be some sort of compatibility issue with the windows version of Itunes and some other piece of software on my pc.
And one more important thing! I had to follow the instructions in the other thread that talks about how to correctly uninstall itunes and quicktime, in order to completely eliminate ALL traces of my "first" ipod's existence so it wouldn't demand that I restore it.
I think the software got "confused" and thought when I connected my 2nd ipod, that it was the 1st and that it still needed to be restored.
Basically, this is just POORLY written and POORLY tested software!
