I want to store my ibook.  Can I take out the battery and simply not use it for months?

Just bought a new imac and want to mothball the laptop.  Can I simply remove the battery and not use it?
Do I have to recharge the battery every few months?
Can't see the point in leaving it plugged in as its not being used, yet in case I need it as a back up would like to keep it.
Any comments on proper procedure?
thanks.

From Apple:
Storing Your MacBook Pro
If you are going to store your MacBook Pro for an extended period of time, keep it in a cool location (ideally, 22° C or about 71° F) and do one of the following to preserve your MacBook Pro battery life:
Discharge the battery 50 percent before storing your MacBook Pro.
When storing your computer for longer than five months, discharge the battery to approximately 50 percent and then remove it from the MacBook Pro. If you are storing your computer for an extended period, recharge your battery to 50 percent every six months or so.

Is the EclipseLink a free tool and no license fee?And yes, EclipseLink is an open source project so there are no license fees. However, Oracle does redistribute EclipseLink as part of the Oracle TopLink product and therefore customers are able to access support for EclipseLink through Oracle support.

  • Satellite P205-S6277: Can I take off the battery and connect the power too?

I am working on my notebook Toshiba satellite P205-S6277, 80% of my time at home.
Can I take off the battery and connect the power to a backup UPS in order to make battery life longer?
I can charge it once a week.

Of course you can do this. You can remove the battery and work on AC power supply only. Be sure there is no dust on the desk and the battery place on the notebook stay clean for further usage.

  • Can i take out the motherboard and CPU and replace it with a newer one?

I was wondering if i could take out the CPU and Motherboard of an early 2011 13" macbook pro with a 2.3GHz dual core i5, and replace it with a 2012 2.9GHz 13" dual core i7? I don't care about the costs but i just want to know if it's possible? I've upgraded my computer to the max so far, but i need some more processing power and i think the new ivy bridge processors will do me some good. Thanks for any replies

    NOPE.
    I'm about 99.9% sure it won't fit.
Plus the rest of the stuff won't plug or won't be compatible.

  • Tecra A7: Is it ok to take out the battery and store it outside the notebook?

I took out the battery from my wife's Tecra A7 so that it does not charge and discharge itself unnecessarily (notebook works exclusively on AC).
However, I've read on the Internet that taking the battery out can sometimes be dangerous for its electronics: namely, the electronics stops working properly and the battery is seen, upon placing it back in the notebook, as "dead", although it isn't really so.
Can it happen with my Toshiba battery, too?

I have done the same with my older Satellite P20. I dont see any problem there. But it is recommended to charge the battery full and run the notebook on battery power supply only from time to time. Charging battery to maximum and empty it out sometimes. it is good for every rechargeable battery.
I dont know where you have found those info but believe me you can remove the battery and notebook can run on AC power supply only.

Can I take out the underlines in photo gallery? I mean the underlines for "Back to Album", "Previous" and "Next". I understand they are functional but I just don't think they look great with the whole composition. Thank you!

    This might work:
Create a dummy hyperlink on that page and set the color, rollover color and underline options that you want on those links. Click a couple of times on the *Use for New Links on Page* button. Delete the dummy hyperlink and republish. That should change the links you mentioned.

  • How can i find out the resolution and accuracy of PXI-6602 module?

I have a 32 bit  8 channel PXI-6602 counter module.  PXI card is interfaced to PC with MXI-4 link. How can i find out the resolution and accuracy of this system. What is the maximum accuracy and resolution i will get from this system. Because optical signal to cmos conversion signal is given as a input to the counter.

    Hi chandhu,
Were you referring to the accuracy of the count register or the timing clock?
PXI-6602 specifications can be found in the NI 660x Specifications.  The resolution of the count register is, as you’ve noted, 32 bits.  This corresponds to a maximum count value of 4,294,967,295.  As long as all of the edges are in accordance with TTL specifications, the accuracy of the count register is 100%.
On the other hand, the PXI-6602 baseclock accuracy takes on the baseclock accuracy of the PXI CLK 10 signal.  Again, this is all found in the specifications.
You may also want to check out the NI 660x User Manual – it contains a lot of details on the operation of these counter/timer devices.
I hope this helps.  Please post back if you have further questions.

I insert it into the mac, but the OS cannot load the disc and the disc cannot be ejected even i pressed the "eject" button.

This happened to a family members macbookpro. A mini-cd inserted, couldn't be mounted or ejected by the drive.

  • I need to get photos off a water damaged iPhone 3GS. Can I take out the component that has the photos (is this the main board?) and put it into another of the same phone to retrieve the photos? Please help

I need to get photos off a water damaged iPhone 3GS. It spent time underwater, saltwater. I let it dry for a week, turned it on, the apple symbol came on, then it died. I need to retrieve my photos off it. Can I take out the component that has the photos (is this the main board?) and put it into another of the same phone to retrieve the photos? Please help

You're talking about the logic board. The two most likely things to get toasted, with water damage, are the battery(it shorts out), & the logic board. The worst water damage would be salt water. I'm afraid your logic board is toast.

    Hi,
You can do this with Adobe Acrobat.
If you are using Export PDF it is a long procedure.
You need to convert your PDF in word or powerpoint.
Then you can edit the document & again can create PDF.
