I was gifted 2 audio books in iTunes, but they are no longer in my library.  Have I lost those books?

I was gifted 2 audio books in iTunes, but they are no longer in my library.  Have I lost those books?  They quit showing up when I got a new computer.

Audio books cannot be redownloaded from the store like other iTunes purchases, see:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
How did you migrate the iTunes library from your old computer? Do you still have the old computer or a backup of the old computer? Then look for them in the iTunes Library there.
Any Audio book you have should be in your iTunes Library in the folder
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Audiobooks/
or whereever you have your iTunes library installed

I synced ipod to itunes (windows), itunes removed all my single purchased songs from my iphone. I can see the songs in itunes, but they are gray and I can't move them back to my iphone or to any other device.  I can't play them on the computer in itunes, I can't move them back to my iphone (where original purchase was made), and I can't move them into another ipod.

I had the Itunes store do this to one song out of three I downloaded. I went back to the Itunes store and reclicked on the song to download it again. It ran the download again and got the complete song this second time. Then I just resynced with my Itunes and all is fixed.

  • The artist names are correct in itunes but they are not appearing on iphone4

The artists names are appaering in iTunes but they are not appearing on my iPhone

Just right click the song and select "Get Info". Under "Info" tab, in the "Album Artist" part, make sure it is the name of the artist you want. Also works when selecting multiple songs if all the same artist.

  • I have songs missing on iTunes but they are on my iPhone. How can I copy from the iPhone into iTunes on my mac air

I have songs missing from my iTunes on the computer but they are on my iPhone 3s and my iPad mini. How can I get them into iTunes so they are in my library.?I have the latest iTunes on my commuter. Thanks for any suggestions.

If they were purchased from iTunes then connect the phone to your Mac's iTunes and the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases should copy them over. If they came from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs) then you will need a third-party program on your Mac to copy them back - there are some listed half-way down this page : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
If by 'missing' you mean that you have them listed in the Music part of your iTunes library but get the 'would you like to locate' message when trying to play them then you will need to delete them from there for the Transfer Purchases to work - otherwise that will see those entries in your library and assume that you still have them somewhere and not copy them back.

  • 2 iphones different itunes but they are linking

my daughter has an iphone with its own itunes and i habve my iphone also with its own account but they are linking her contacts to my phone how does this work

Does iTunes reconize your bf phone as diff from yours ? Should be his name.. Does he have his own apple ID?
He should have.. If those are both yes, then iTunes should reconize and seperate the two iPhone's. Also what operating system do u have? if it's windows u can use windows contacts and let your bf use yahoo so there is no confusion . Also it sounds like your contacts are in his iPhone back up and the same with yours....
Let me know if my babbling helps u lol ...

  • I've deleted podcasts from my iTunes, but they are still on my iPod

I wanted to delete podcasts from my iPod, so I unchecked the box while I was syncing. The podcasts were still on my iPod, so I deleted them from my iTunes completely. They are still on my iPod, and I can't figure out how to delete them. Help, please!!

    Hello there,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
How you delete content from your iPod depends on whether you have it set up to sync manually or automatically with your iTunes library.
Either way, I would check out this Apple support document for help on how to delete content from your iPod. [Adding and Deleting Songs and playlists from your iPod|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1855]
If still no luck, you can always opt to restore the iPod. This will delete all the content from your iPod and set it back to its original default settings.

  • I recently deleted two albums off of my iphone via itunes but, they are still showing up on my phone, they are not albums that i have purchased through itunes, can someone help me figure out how to delete them please?

I recently deleted two albums off of my phone using itunes, but when i went back onto my phone, they were still there and playable. they are not songs that I have purchased via itunes so can someone please help me figure out what is wrong so that i can fix the problem

    Hi, Abril_Perez17.
This may be related to a new feature embedded in iOS7 that shows all purchased music by default.  Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.  See if the issue ceases once the feature has been disabled.  This information is located on page 63 of the user guide below.

  • Im importing cds onto my itunes but they are coming up with no track names/artists etc, itunes is saying i have no internet connnection but im on my laptop and im online, can anyone help? ive never had this issues before? they are legit cds from HMV?

Im trying to import cds i got for xmas onto my itunes and they arecoming up with no artist/album cover or track names, when i click get track info it says i have not internet connection, but im on my windows laptop and can get on the internet, is there something i need to so in itunes tmake it rcognise the album details?

    Hey there lollypops21,
It sounds like you are connected to the internet otherwise, but iTunes is giving you this error message when trying to get info from the Gracenote database to retrieve your album info. I had a couple of articles I wanted to recommend you try. First this one named:
iTunes for Windows can't access the Internet if proxy settings are incorrect
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1490
You can always enter in the album information manually with this article if needed:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Edit song and CD information
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12360
    Customize song and CD info
You can edit information in the Info window to make it easier to find and sort items in your library. For example, you can:
Group individual movements on a classical CD into one work by indicating the name of the work (for example, “Piano concerto in A Minor, Op. 54”) in the Grouping field.
Group songs that are part of a compilation together in your library by clicking the Info button and selecting the “Part of a compilation” checkbox.
Identify the individual artists on a tribute album in the Artist field, and type “various” in the Album Artist field.
Create your own genre category by clicking Info and typing the category in the Genre field.
Change the order in which tracks on a CD play by changing the numbers in the Track Number fields.
Create a Smart Playlist that includes only songs that are just the right speed for your workout by typing the number of beats per minute in the BPM field. For instructions, see Create a Smart Playlist.
Identify a movie as a music video (click the Options button, and choose Music Video from the Media Kind pop-up menu).
Identify an item that you imported from a CD as an audiobook, so it appears under Audiobooks instead of Music (click the Options button and choose Audiobook from the Media Kind pop-up menu). If you do this, iTunes also remembers your place in the audiobook.
Enter custom sorting criteria for an item. Select the item, choose File > Get Info, click Sorting, and enter the custom text.
iTunes retrieves CD information from the Gracenote media database. For more information, visit the Gracenote website.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • I have recently used iTunes to subscribe to some Podcasts flawlessly. Then suddenly, I could see the latest Podcasts in iTunes, but they were no longer available on my 160GB Classic. All other functions appear ok. Can anyone out there save me from myself

Help ! I have recently used iTunes to subscribe to some Podcasts flawlessly. Then suddenly, I could only view the latest downloaded Podcasts in my iTunes account. I no longer had any Podcasts on my 160GB Classic. Can anyone save me from me ? I would truely appreciate any suggestions or direction. Thank you.    [email protected]

Connect your iPod to iTunes and check on the Device/Podcasts pane; there are several options for which Podcasts are "kept on/left on" the iPod at each Sync. Are they set the way you want? For instance, if the setting is "to keep on the iPod only new Podcasts", that would cause older Podcasts to be removed.
If you need to chnage the setting, you will need to Sync the iPod afterwards for the change to take effect.

  • I bought songs on iTunes but they dont show up on my library. Why?

I need help so I don't waste money on a song that isn't working!!!

What happens when you try to sync them? Error message?

  • Lost playlists in itunes, but they are on iphone!

    Hi

But I lost all my playlists!
I still have those playlists on my iphone and want to import them to itunes and update the lists on the phone. Can this be done?
At the moment itunes wants to erase my lists on the phone and start from fresh, which is NOT want I want to do!
    Thanks

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. If it is set to sync automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Can see Audiobooks in iTunes but they are not on the iPod

Things were fine but then I tried to download a few songs from Freegal and everything got wiped out--music and audiobooks.  I can see them when I plug the iPod into the computer under my iPod file but it won't let me drag and drop the chapters into the ipod.  What's my solution to get those audiobooks, at least, back into the iPod.  They are OverDrive books by the way and they have already expired in OverDrive.

This Apple knowledge-base article may help address that issue.
Windows confuses iPod with network drive.

  • No Artist, No Album in iTunes, but they are always present on iPod?

    Hello,
Can't seem to find the answer in the archives - would be grateful for any help.
I organise all content by Genre and optionally by Composer, that is all.
The Artist and Album content of the Info box is completely blank. I do not even have the Artist and Album columns displayed in iTunes.
However after sync'ing the iPod, the Artist and Album fields are always on the iPod even though the content is blank.
This means, every time I select a new Genre I have to do a double click-thru to get to actual content of the Genre (Artists -> All -> Click -> Albums -> All -> Click -> finally... I am there.
I wonder why iTunes insists on inserting the Artist and Album fields on the iPod, even though the content is completely blank? ..and the columns are not even displayed in iTunes?
The double click-thru every time I need to change a Genre is irritating and impedes use of the iPod.
If anyone has any clues I would be very grateful.
    Thanks
    Philip

    Chris,
Thank you very much for your reply. Sorry to be so late following up - there is a reason. In the meantime I have been trying to research the documents in more detail..
The iPod cannot display the info unless it is in the ID3 tags.
It doesn't matter if the columns are displayed or not in iTunes.
The problem may be the other way around. My problem is that the iPod always displays Artists and Albums, even though the ID3 tags are completely empty and these classifications are irrelevant to the content of my iPod. This causes me to have click through these irrelevant fields every time I select a new Genre.. time wasting and very frustrating..
If you have no info in these boxes, iTunes will put them in Unknown Artist, Unknown Album.
That's exactly what's happening but I'd dearly like to have categorised folders. I'm beginning to realise that iTunes may use the Artist and Album tags as a means of creating subfolders. In one of the documents it says:
"As a music manager, iTunes creates a folder for each artist in the iTunes Music folder and subfolders of each artist's albums that contain the individual song files"
But surely they can't force the use Artist and Album tags where these classifications are completely irrelevant? Just one example of many: I have a self-made 90-minute recording called "Nightingales in the Luberon". Now exactly what Artist and what Album does that belong under? The only reasonable classification I can see is under my "Nature" Genre.
Same with my Classical Genre - none of those recordings have any "Artist" or "Album". They all have a Composer ID3 tag, but apparently that doesn't help me at all in organising them according to folders?
Why not simply go to Music -> Songs?
Well, I think that's pretty much what I've been to do, except I need more organisation, so instead of just Music -> Songs I have been trying to do Music -> Genres. The problem is the iPod insists on plugging in the Artist and Album fields, after the Genres.
Or create a playlist which contains only one genre, then Music -> Playlist?
You can go into iPod Settings -> *Main menu* and put these on the iPod main menu so you don't even have to go to Music then another selection.
Thank you for the ideas. But at the moment I already have Genres at the very top level menu. But after going into a specific Genre, selecting it, I still have to click through the (irrelevant) Artist and Album tags.
I think what I am really asking for is the ability to specify which metadata tags are used to organise content, and sub-folders on disk. So far I have not been able to find anything in the documents.
The top-level tag should be Genre, with in some cases, a sub-level tag of either Composer, Author, or Publisher, depending on the type of Genre. I would like iTunes to create named hierarchical folders for each of these tags.
I have so many disparate types of recording that I think the only sensible type of classification is by Genre, for example: Classical, Country&Western, Factual, French (audio tuition), Nature (my own recordings), Old Times, Relaxation (audio), Self-Improvement (audio).
I think that Apple does not help by making much of the documentation obscure and non-intuitive.. I was searching for documents about 'Organising the iTunes Library' - a big topic surely. But I could find nothing. In the end I found part of the answers I was looking for in a bizarrely named document called "Bring in the Noise". Now what on earth does that mean??
Thanks a lot for your help..

  • Why are my audiobooks showing up in my iTunes but they are not showing up on my iPod nano?

So I downloaded an audiobook from an online source that is not from the iTunes store, but it is showing up in Books in the latest version of iTunes. I synced my iPod, and when I go into my Audiobooks in my iPod, it says that I don't have any. What is the problem? And how do I fix it?!?!

Have you double checked to make sure these Audiobooks are configured to sync to your iPod from under the iPod's Books configuration tab in iTunes?
To access this configuration tab, plug in your iPod and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes to bring yourself to the iPod's Summary tab.  Now locate the Books tab and select it.  Here you can configure what and how audiobooks are synced to the device.
If you make any changes to this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button on in the lower right hand corner.
