ICal issues, external e-mail notification/invite problem, iPhone

I'm having some problems with the iCal setup on my Mac server. In particular:
1 - I can't send invitations out to external email addresses. Or perhaps I just don't get the responses
2 - My Page calendar never loads (used to work)
3 - CalDAV calendars on the iPhone constantly asking for authentication on iPhone network change
4 - iPhone created events don't sync back to client iCal. vice versa.
I see lots of recommendations to create an iCal server user in Workgroup Manager so you can create an email account and see the invites go out.
When try to create a new user, say "iCal Server" and add the shortname "com.apple.calendarserver", it tells me "The name you have chosen conflicts with a name assigned to another user".
I have not previously created this user, it doesn't show in my list, and I've checked the hidden system user accounts and I don't see it.
I'm not sure what I'm missing. There are lots of people out there that know exactly how to set this account up as I don't see any complaints. Perhaps I'm over-thinking it.
If someone could break down what I need to do, that would be great.
Thanks

  • Issues in Swedish mail notification subject line

    Hi team,
I have created one concurrent program which run on daily basis to send notification about employee contract expiration to their manager before 30 days.
I should send mail into swedish language. I am facing one issue into this.
I have compiled program correctly with Swedish as machine langage and i am able to see appropriate mail format in my package body.
But i receive mail notification, the mail body is in swedish language but mail subject removed the swedish characters.
    Please check below details:
    Apps : 12.1.3
    Database : 11g
    Responsiblity Name: HR Professional
Swedish Subject line in Code : HRMS System Varning: Anställningskontrakt löper ut om 28 dagar
Swedish Subject line in mail notification : HRMS System Varning: Anstallningskontrakt loper ut om 28 dagar
Sweidish Mail body in code : Observera att gällande anställningskontrakt för löper ut den
Swedish Subject in mail notification : Observera att gällande anställningskontrakt för löper ut den
    I tried following approch:
    1. I passed direct subject line to P_Subject parameter.
    2. I assigned subject line to l_subject and then passed value l_subject to P_subject .
in both cases, i am getting wrong output. Kindly check and let me know if anything is required from my side.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Basaw

    Hi Friend,
    Thanks for quick reply.
It is not showing any garbage value or squares anything.
It is just removing swedish characters. Please check below:
Sweidish Mail body in code : HRMS System Varning: Anställningskontrakt löper ut om 28 dagar
Swedish Subject in mail notification : HRMS System Varning: Anstallningskontrakt loper ut om 28 dagar
If you see closely, in word Anställningskontrak and löpe, it is removied a and o which are special values in swedish characters.

  • Mail Notification Icon Problem

Every time Mail does a Send/Receive, the Dock notification icon displays "4" messages, but there are no new messages. If there are any new mail messages, the count is appended (if there is one new message, the icon displays "5" messages). Left-clicking the dock icon makes the red "4" disappear, but it returns each time Mail does another Send/Receive. Coincidentally, I have four mail accounts in Mail.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

Does Mail also show that number of unread messages next to any or your accounts’ Inboxes? What type of mail account is it (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?

  • ICal Server mail notification generates malformed Reply-To header

When a mail notification (invitation) for an event is sent by iCal Server running on Snow Leopard Server to an outside email address, an apparently malformed "Reply-To" header similar to
    [email protected]
is always inserted into the message. As the above address is not a valid one, the recipient is unable to reply to the event invitation. The "From" and "Return-Path" headers always indicate the correct email address "[email protected]".
Has anyone encountered this issue, or more importantly, know of a solution?

Remember - email addresses are technically only the @domain.com address. The suffix information is only a user of that domain.
ALL email sent regardless of who or how it is addressed before the @ is technically irrelevant to the end client (outlook, thunderbird, etc..)
Email is really only a DNS operation. The @domain.com is resolved somewhere in the cloud (no one really wants a boring DNS resolution lesson here....) to your domain server. In your public DNS records there are MX records which tell anyone trying to send email to your DOMAIN (not users) what mail servers you have, where they can be located, and in what priority they are used (if multiple mail servers are used.)
Once the email finds its way to your email server, it internally resolves the info before the @ to it's user directory (AD, OD, whatever) and then the mail server processes the message and sends it along to the user if it validates. But it still arrives at your mail server regardless if it is correct or not.
You can try this test yourself... (as long as copy all undeliverable mail to: is enabled in your server admin)
Send an email to some made up email address... [email protected].
It will still be resolved to your email server and "delivered" to your "copy undeliverable email to:" address. Even though it is not a valid user of your domain.
So, what does all that crap have to do with the topic? When you hit reply to an third party ical invite (because internal ical users don't use email for invites) - everything in front of the @domain.com is irrelevant in the reply process. And this applies to all email clients. The message is resolved and sent back to your @domain.com email server. So when you see the icalserver+blah blah blah [email protected] it is a correct address and all email clients only see the info after the @ for routing and send it to your email server.
It is once it hits the Mac Server does the magic happen. In the setup of ical, you specify an ical email address for this specific third party email invite function. Hence, the [email protected] address.
Mac email server has built in support for sub-addressing and this is where everything AFTER the "+" is resolved internally in the ical server.app. iCal uses this information to process the invite.
So, in closing... it has to be a Mac server for this function to work.
Hope I didn't stray to far from your question.
    Scott

  • I Have No Voice Mail Notifications In Z10 Hub

I have seen issues with Voice Mail Notifications in various threads, but I didn't see one having No Voice Mail Notifications In the Z10 Hub at all. Sorry if I missed a thread that applies.
From what I was told by Blackberry Technical Support, at the bottom of the BB Hub next to "Calls", "Emergency Alerts" and "PIN", should be "Voice Mail" (or something similar). I have none and therefore do not get any notifications when I receive a Voice Message. I thought this was odd, and figured I had some settings incorrect, but that is not the case. It's just not there.
I am in the USA on Verizon's network with the latest updated OS 10.1.0.2039 that they offered on a STL100-4, Z10.
    Anyone else have this issue?

My wife had the same issue on her Z10.
A quick call to customer service at AT&T and they set it up.
Rebooted her phone, and all was well.
I'm sure Verizon customer service can do this for you as well.
    Hope this helps.
    Sincerely -

    And No Email is send!
If changing the Umlaut ü to something like ue in the Sender or Receiver Name everything is alright!
Thank you Apple for obviously Not testing Lion Server for international use :-/
Maybe this help someone else who is using umlauts with iCal Server external Email invitations

    Hello Daryn,
Thinks for commenting. I am very upset that Apple just said "No" when I asked for this to be fixed. There appears to be no way to submit this as an official bug that keeps ical from running.
Apple actually had me reinstall my whole server and the issue was still there and then they just said "Oh, well I will email someone about it.".
This is the first time Apple has stunk it up in my books. This is bad support for Server.

  • No new mail notification in Outlook - CAS Exchange RPC Client Access problem

    Hi, we're facing this problem:
Users start complaining they suddenly don’t receive new mail notifications in Outlook (2010/2013)  anymore
Inbox does not show the new mail either
When the user changes folders in outlook, the new mail does show in the Inbox folder
Restarting Outlook shows the new mail as well.
The same new e-mail arrives instantly (with notifications) in Owa and on mobile devices
Sometimes the new mail notification pops up after a longer period of time (from 30 seconds to 10 minutes). But more often not at all.
This issue seems to occur at random. We’ve been problem free for a week, and sometimes it comes back three times a day.
Clients running Outlook 2010, 2013 cached or online, on site and off site. So it seems server related, not client.
It was seen first around January 8th. We did not make any changes around that time that we can link to this problem.
Only one CAS server (EXCH1-RTD) shows this issue. CAS servers on other sites are ok
EXCH1-RTD has CAS and HUB transport roles. The same site has two mailbox only servers. EXCH2-RTD (mailbox server for normal mailboxes). And EXCH3-RTD (mailbox server for archive mailboxes)
No entries in the event logs that seems to be related
As the problem only occurs with Outlook clients, I suspected RPC issues. We cannot gracefully stop the “Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access” service on EXCH1-RTD  while the issue occurs. We
can only kill the process and restart the service, solving the issue instantly.
    What we’ve tried until now:
Updated all Exchange servers from Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6 to RU8-v2 (server OS=W2K8R2)
Updated all Exchange servers  to latest critical Windows updates
Recalculated requirements using MS Sizing tool.  Upgraded EXCH1-RTD  VM from 8GB and 2 vCPU (1 core/cpu) to 16GB
    and 4vCPU (1 core/cpu)
Ran various perfmon counters and compared them with other Exchange servers, not finding any obvious anomalies.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Ron

    Hi Ron,
From your description, OWA works well, the issue is related to Outlook side. In your case, I recommend you use Outlook safe mode to determine whether the issue is related to add-ins. If the issue persists, you can create a new profile to check the result.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Problem with voice mail notification after 8107.79...

i have a nokie lumia 800 and there was an update of the OS to 8107.79 from une, when i updated my phone, there were problems i have encountered, first was the voice mail notification. I did not subscribe myself to my network providers voice mail service (since they dont have that service as well) but there was a notification on my phone about a voice mail to which i wonder how did i get a notification when i dont even have a voice mail account.
Second was the lights at the three buttons below the screen, it does not illuminate on most of the time.
    Has anyone encountered these problems?

Not sure about the voicemail thing but 8107 shouldn't affecting the buttons at the bottom of the phone that issue arose afte 1500 firmware update from Nokia.
If you have your display set to auto then the the buttons will light up normally.

  • ICal - incoming Mail ICS invites go to wrong calendar - or go to no calendar

My default calendar invites coming in on email (most often through Lotus Notes or Outlook) aren't going to the correct calendar, even though I have my defaults set up.  I've reviewed some threads on this and there appears to be no easy resolution: it sounds like an ICS invite will go to the FIRST calendar in your calendar list, not the "default" (only invitations created manually seem to go there).   Since I have one "on my Mac" calendar , which always appears above  iCloud, incoming mail ICS invites always go there.  On Yosemite..  My scenario is:
    1) I have one "on my Mac" calendar that I use because there are many reminders I only really need when at the home iMac; otherwise my phone is popping up annoying reminders when my Mac is already doing that (and if Apple had more "sleep" options I wouldn't even have to do this!).
    2) In Mail, default calendar is "Work" (in iCloud).
    3) Creating new invitations from iCal work fine: they go to "Work" calendar.
    4) Any invitations auto-accepted by Mail, however, go to the On My Mac.  Thus the suggestion of ordering the calendars won't work unless I can get "on my Mac" below the set of iCal calendars, which doesn't seem possible.
So if there's a way to move "on my Mac" DOWN I guess that would fix it.  But really,  a default calendar is a default calendar: why would incoming Mail ICS invitations not use it??  Any resolutions?
On another note, the "Auto Accept" option in mail doesn't seem to work consistently.  I haven't tested this, but it may only be from Lotus Notes emails, of which I get a lot.
    Thank you,  Ron

    anyone seen this…?

  • HT201342 How do I change the default e-mail in ical for e-mail notifications?

My ical e-mail notifications are set up to my .mac account, but I need to change it to icloud address, as I'm getting errors when it tries to send e-mail notifications to the @mac.com address. But I can't figure out how to change the e-mail address. I've added the icloud.com address in accounts, but it doesn't offer me the choice of that e-mail in the drop-down menu in ical when I choose e-mail notification.

  • A definitive answer please: Can OS X server push iCal/mail notifications to iOS devices?

Can somebody please answer this definitively?
Can OS X Server 10.6 push iCal and Mail notifications to iOS 4.x devices?
Apple's documentation states that OS X Server supports push notifications to OS X 10.6 *clients* - but makes no mention of iOS devices. I find that strange because iOS devices stand to gain the most benefit from push functionality.
I've seen several posts in this forum that seem to indicate that iOS devices are supported, but no clear instructions on how to configure push to support them. My own attempts at doing so have failed - the mail and CalDAV accounts on both my iPhone and iPad only show support for manual / fetch methods, not push.

    Hi
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3947
IOS devices are specifically mentioned towards the bottom. AFAIK Push is fully supported in Exchange Mail Server.
Moreover and AFAIK Apple Mail does not support Push from OSX Server. However iCal is supported. In reality the 'IMAP idle' setting gives the appearance of 'Push' Mail and IMAP idle works fine on my IOS devices and for my needs is 'Pushy' enough.

  • ICloud ical e-mail notifications

My wife and I both have separate iCloud accounts. Then she subscribed to my calendar, so she can see my schedule. This works in both Lion and iOS properly, and has been working for a few months now, ever since we made the iCloud transition.
Two days ago, she started getting individual e-mail notifications about every single event I create, change, or delete in my iCloud calendar. The e-mails don't include any unsubscribe info.
Where is the preference to turn this off?

So i have question, it is possible to switch to Open directory master and current users will be OK
I would suggest you ask that question in the open directory group as they will have more practical experience in doing this. You must ensure that your forward and reverse IP address of the serve is set up correctly before doing this.
And could i use Local user database and LDAP in the same time?
Yes that us normal operation - there will always be some accounts in the local directory, but you should not put users in there.
