ICal pop-up alarms are blank

When my alarms pop up, the names of the events/times are not displayed. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Allowed Pop Up Windows are Blank

i've only recently encountered this problem in the past month. the sites i know are affected are fanfiction.net and scribophile.com.
fanfiction.net is using a javascript;; for editing a link in one's profile.
scribophile.com is using a php to send a private message: http://www.scribophile.com/dashboard/popups/addprivatemessage.php?userid=17380
in both instances, a new-fangled looking white window pops up. (the fanfiction.net one even resizes itself and has a fancy top border). they are blank, utterly without content. they have a close X in the top corner that does close them. the php one is even blank when i choose to open it in a new tab like a regular page.
i have adblock plus and noscript. although i have tried turning them off for these particular web sites, the pop up windows still come out blank.
i have tried these solutions:
1: disable adblock plus and tell noscript to allow everything on the page(s). this does not work.
2: run firefox in safe mode. the popup windows then DO work.
3: i have gone to the firefox options and created exceptions to pop-up blocking for both sites. no joy.
4: i have gone into the add-on manager and disabled both adblock plus and noscript (but not other add-ons). no joy.
5: i have, one at a time, disabled every other add-on i have. no joy.
it appears to me that it is not actually the add-ons that are causing this behavior. although the windows work in firefox in safe mode, the same cannot be said of manually turning off the add-ons in "unsafe" mode.
is anything else going on in firefox that might be causing this behavior? i don't think it's the pop-up blocker, since the pop-ups DO appear... but no content inside. ugh.

Ical pop up alarms and email notification

I am receiving pop up alarms only a few of the pop up alarms that I set. I am not receiving email alarms that I set. I have checked that the correct email address is set as "My Card" in my address book and it is listed as the email address to send to in the alarm set pop up. What should I do?

Pop Up Alarms Disappear

My ical pop up alarms disappear when I shut down/restart my imac and yet I hadn't dismissed or closed them. Shouldn't they stay on the desktop through a shut down/restart unless and until I close/dismiss them?

No answers. Should I assume from this that this is how ical is supposed to work? i.e. alarms disappear from the desktop on shut down?

Email alarm problem: Blank "To:" field on email, but only when iCal open

If iCal.app is closed, my email event alarms are working fine.
However, if iCal.app is open, when it comes time to open up mail.app and send the event alarm email, the "To:" field on the email is left blank, and results in a Mail error that the message can not be sent.
The only other reference I could find in the forums to a similar problem was a claim that installing GroupWise can interfere with the script that iCal uses to fill in the To: field on the email, but I have never installed Groupwise (at least i dont remember ever installing it, and can't find any traces of Groupwise on my system), and the fact that it all works when iCal is closed , but not when iCal is open, has me stumped.
Any suggestions?

Hi Ian,
There is a different application that sends the emails when iCal is closed. It is called iCal Helper and is contained in the iCal application. iCal and iCal Helper use copies of the same Applescripts to send the emails to Mail.app. Your problem could stem from the Applescripts in iCal being corrupted in some way.
Before trying what I am about to suggest, make an archive of your iCal application (Control-Click it in Finder and select Create Archive of "iCal") and keep the iCal.zip file safe. Better safe than sorry.
You could try copying the Applescripts from the iCal Helper package into the iCal package.
To do this:
1. Control-Click on the iCal application and choose 'Show Package Contents' from the contextual menu. A new window will open with one folder called Contents in it.
2.Open Contents and then the folder inside called Resources.
3. In Resources you will find the iCal Helper application (you may find this easier using column view). Control-Click iCal Helper and select 'Show Package Contents'. Another window will open with a folder called Contents in it.
4. Move the windows so you can see both the Resources window and the window opened in the last step.
5. Open the Contents folder, and then the Resources folder inside this.
6. Inside iCal Helper's Resources folder you will find five files called: Mail.scpt, Mail.applescript, mailInfoScript.applescript, mailInfoScript.applescript, mailScript.applescript and mailScriptWithAttachment.applescript. These files should be copied into iCal's Resources folder.
7. Select the five files and press Command-C to copy them.
8. Select the iCal's Resources folder in the other window and press Command-V. You will see a confirmation window asking if you really want to repace the files.
9. Close both windows and your done.
If you have any problems revet to the zipped copy of iCal.
An alternative to this would be to do a custom install of iCal from your installation disk and applying the combo update to 10.4.7.

My iCal alarms are unreliable. Some work and some never show up. I've even copied and pasted an event from one place to another, and on the new date, it didn't work.

It depends on the way you told iTunes to sort your music.
It mostly happens with mp3's from friends, as some software does not put the mp3 tags in as iTunes do, cause there are different mp3-tag versions out there.
For example, if you choose in iTiunes to sort by Album Name, all songs without a matching entry in the "Album Name" field where sorted to "unknown album" or "build up a different album" if only some "Album Name" entry's are different.
Also, if no Artist Name is set in the informations, the tracks will get sort to "unknown artist"
As said before, put all songs from the album in question into a playlist and edit the information to be the same on every track.
You may also mark all traks from the album at once, right click, choose information and put the correct Album name in the field.

I have several recuring alarms set up on my calendar for each day of the week. In the past few weeks, an alarm will occasionaly notify me roughly 15 minutes to an hour and a half late. These daily alarms are identical and repeat every day.

I assume you meant iCal rather than iTunes? Yes, iCal the time zone is correct. The delayed alarms only happen sporadically. Since I posted this message, the problem stopped happening every day at the same time, but it still happens occasionally with no rhyme or reason as to when. It's gotten so that I can't depend on my iCal alarms anymore.

ICal v3 todo Alarms gone (no option to set alam in todo anymore)

Hi.
I've been using iCal for over a year now and all of a sudden, I cannot set an alarm for any To-Do item. Frustrating
My To-Dos, naturally, often have deadlines that alarms are very useful for. Now, if I need an alarm, I have to move my To-Do entry to a callendar day, which makes it hard to find and basicaly negates the purpose of having a To-Do list in the first place.
Was this intentional by Apple, or has something gone wrong that can be fixed?

IBook thinks all DVDs and CDs are blank!

My iBook G4 (early '04) thinks that all the DVDs and CDs I put in it are blank. I popped in the Superman Returns DVD I just bought from Best Buy in the slot and it asked me what I wanted to do with the blank DVD (its a combo drive I upgraded myself in Jan '05). I tried to run the Apple Hardware Test CD that can with the computer, but it couldn't read it and gave me the "blank disc" message again. What's wrong with it? What do I do?
I was planning on upgrading to the new MacBooks in January, so i need to find out if i can fix this or just get a new one earlier than planned.

You could try purchasing and using a CD/DVD cleaner (a disc with small brushes on the bottom). This will remove the dust from the laser lens and hopefully allow it to recognize discs once again.

Ical e-mail alarm and sending e-mails to self will not sync with Gmail

Hello, my mac mail is not able to fetch a e-mail alarm sent from ical.
when the alarm goes off it is sent to my Gmail account and I am able
to view it in my browser but not in my Mail program on my Mac. Has
anybody else had or have this problem and is there anything to
rectify? it. I have spoken to Apple support and they seem to think it
is a Gmail issue. I am not able to fetch emails sent to myself in my
Mail program on my Mac either, I am only able to view on my browser.
All other emails are fetched properly. Perplexing!

I've had several clients tell me that they can't send from themselves - to themselves on a gmail account. They can see the messages in the gmail webmail interface, but the messages won't download to the mail program.
I suspect it's part of gmail's spam controls. It's a common spammer technique to send messages with the From: address the same as the To: address.
Another thought, hasn't gmail touted the user's ability to use the 5 or 7 GB of online storage? Maybe you use it by sending yourself an email and wouldn't want it downloaded back to your mail program?

Views are Blank

Have an imap and a pop account.
Often, the views of both are blank and the timer icon seems to be frozen. After a while, if I click on something else, the views become populated.
Also, on many occasions, if I observe the Activity Viewer, I see that it says, for example, evaluating "x" of "y" messages, but when I review my messages, I have fewer than "y" messages.

Not sure of the meaning of what you see in Activity Viewer. Do you see anything there that would indicate that rules could have a bearing on this? If so, try disabling all your rules and see whether that helps.
What’s the capacity and space available on the startup disk?
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:

After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
4. Move the “IMAP-” account folder to the Trash. Note that you can do this with IMAP-type accounts because they store mail on the server and Mail can easily re-create them. DON’T trash any “POP-” account folders, as that would cause all mail stored there to be lost.
5. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
6. As a side effect of having removed the IMAP account folder, that account may be in an “offline” state now. Do Mailbox > Go Online to bring it back online.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

When I create a new event, 3 alarms are automatically set. How can I set the default to zero alarms?

What I said above - when I set up a new event three default alarms are set, all for 10 minutes prior to the event. How can I make the default alarm free?

Do you have a default alarm set in iCal's Preferences > General Tab?
Are you syncing via iCloud (if so look here)?
Are you syncing to Google Calendar (if so look here)?
Are you syncing elsewhere?

Some input dialogs are blank - no cursor, but chrome ok - why?

I am trying to set dialogs in a JomSocial profile edit page. Some dialogs are editable, and others are blank and apparently don't accept input. When this is done using Chrome, there is no problem.

Can you try in safe mode?
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

Crystal 2008 - Selected table names are blank or end in 1

I am creating a new report in Crystal 2008. I am connecting to a database using ODBC. The tables show up correctly in the available tables column of the Database Expert. Once I select a table the table shows up in the selected tables list as an icon only - no name or as an icon with a table name ending in 1. The table name that ends in 1 is not a duplicate.
Furthermore, in the field explorer the fields all show but I can not add any to the report.
Any ideas, this just started happening this week.

Which database you are reporting off?
You can try following workaround and create indirect ODBC connection.
Create a report using OLEDB connection and select Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC drivers and then create a report .
This will point to your existing ODBC connection through OLEDB provider.
For the tables name that are blank do you have hyphen '-' in their names?
As advised by Jayendra you can try with Service Pack 1for Crysatl Reports 2008.
