ICloud Proxy (SOCKS): not so magical?

Sensing an accelerating move away from 10.6 by Cupertino I bit the bullet and migrated three of my machines 10.6.8 to 10.7.3. These were done as clean installs with selective restores of data from Time Machine backups. I also migrated from MobileMe to iCloud. *groan* One of these machines is my development box at work which sits behind a SOCKS proxy which is configured via PAC file hosted on a company web server. I set up iCloud on the Mac, and on my iPhone (which is on AT&T's network -- not on company Wifi -- and thus not subjected to the proxy); the phone, which was set up for iCloud first, pushed its bookmarks & contacts & pulled down the migrated calendars and mail. The Mac is configured to only sync Bookmarks, Contacts & Calendars -- it too, pulled down the data (thru the proxy) when iCloud was first set up. All seemed well. But it's not. The Mac, behind the proxy, appears incapable of receiving pushes from the iCloud. It can, however, pull the data from the cloud, and it can itselfpush data to the cloud. In most cases, the pulls have to be user-initiated, which is completely counter-intuitive to this cloud paradigm that is supposed to "just work".
Example, making changes on the Mac behind the SOCKS proxy:
If I add or remove a bookmark in Safari, the change will be pushed to the iCloud (through the proxy) and pushed down to the iPhone. Great.
Add/remove a Contact? Change is pushed to the iCloud (thru the proxy) and down to the phone. Great.
Likewise for Calendar changes.
Everything just works... magically.
Example, making changes on the iPhone (not so magical):
Add or remove a bookmark from Safari. Change is pushed to the iCloud -- but not to the Mac behind the proxy. Safari on the Mac has to be manually told to pull the changes -- and the only way I see to do that is to manipulate the bookmarks manually. If I change any other bookmark on the Mac, the bookmarks are "refreshed" and the change made on the iPhone will be pulled from the cloud (note: it is sufficient to simply re-arrange the bookmarks on the bookmark bar to get Safari to pull changes from the cloud). Really ought to be a command-R or some other intuitive way to force a bookmark sync.
Add/remove a Calendar event. Change is pushed to the iCloud -- but not to the Mac behind the proxy. However, if Calendar is not already running on the Mac, it will pull the changes from the cloud when next opened. Alternatively, if it is already running, Command-R will "refresh" the calendar and pull changes from the cloud.
Add/remove a Contact. Change is pushed to the cloud -- but not immediately to the Mac. If the Address book is not already running on the Mac, the next time it is opened it will pull the changes from the cloud. If it is already running, there is no Command-R method to force a pull from the cloud; however, Address Book appears to poll the cloud on a fairly regular interval. (also seems like it will poll if the Address Book app is open and doesn't have focus for a while, & then is focused)
So, in summary:
Pushing iCloud changes to a Mac behind a SOCKS proxy (presumably other proxies too?) doesn't behave very magically.
Safari seems to have no elegant way to force a pull from the cloud: it has no Command-R-like function to refresh bookmarks. If a bookmark change has been made in the iCloud but not pushed to the Mac, the only way I've been able to force a "pull" of the change is to change another bookmark already on the Mac (or to re-arrange the order of arbitrary bookmarks on the bookmark bar).
Calendar will pull from the cloud when the app is launched. You can force a pull with a press of Command-R when the app is already running.
Address Book will pull from the cloud when it is launched. It, like Safari, has no key combo to force a pull from the cloud, but it appears to poll the cloud frequently for changes.
I really love how non-uniform these behaviors appear to be.
Does anyone know what servers/ports are spoken to for iCloud syncing?
FWIW, I did not have these syncing issues with MobileMe; contacts & bookmarks would be pushed to the Mac behind the proxy automagically. (Calendars didn't work however but that was another issue altogether.)

Similar problem: I noticed Notes is not updating to the iCloud properly. Are there any additional ports (TCP/UDP?) that need to be open to sync Notes to iCloud. I would welcome a technical answer to this problem that I can relay to our network people.

SADLY not as i downloaded an upgrad to my original PAGES/
i have in the meantim had to open www.icloud. then from there import the file that i am working on and then check on ipad if it uploaded/ yes it did.
but what a waste of time as it doesn not save any changes done automatically back in the cloud....
i am now downloading the new LION and hope that it will fix the problem
i cant find any other way. I was lead to believe that you wrote, it saved automatically, on to the cloud, you then opened anohter device in anotother country even, and the new file was there, waiting, in its latest version.......
and the same magic was supposed to happen in reverse.

iCloud doesn't magically appear when you move your MobileMe account to iCloud. iCloud comes with your operating system, you need to have OS X 10.7.2 or better installed in order to use iCloud on your computer.

The Secure Store Service application Secure Store Service Proxy is not accessible

I am working on setting up a new SharePoint 2013 Farm for our external web site which is currently running on 2010 SharePoint. Because this is an External Website for our organization we have an internally available Publishing Site and there is an Web App
Extension to provide Anon Access to users using the www address. Currently I am doing everything on a single server for testing with HOSTS entries to loop back so I can test with real host headers and not impact the 2010 prod environment. We will be setting
up 2 more WFEs with a NLB before moving this into prod but it isn't there yet. We brought the Site Collection Databases over but are still running in 2010 mode for now.
I migrated a copy of the Secure Store Database over from 2010 and had it put on the 2013 Farm's Database Server. Set up Secure Store and the Secure Store Proxy. I went into the Secure Store Proxy in CA and refreshed the Key with the proper Pass Phrase. After
doing that I could see the Target Application IDs listed. Everything was looking good so I went off to test. If I am on the publishing site I can go to a page that has the solution on it and it operates as expected. It does a query to a non SharePoint database
and returns information filtered based on the search parameters. The only odd thing I see is if I click on the "Site Actions" I get a message "An error has occurred with the data fetch. Please refresh page and retry." Need to look into
that more but it only happens on pages that have these solutions. Maybe a clue. If I go to the Anonymous Access page (www......) and try and use the solution, it immediately (way too quick to appear like it is doing anything) comes back with "The security
token request cannot be completed."
If I dig through the usage logs I am finding the following.
The Secure Store Service application Secure Store Service Proxy is not accessible. The full exception text is: The security token request cannot be completed.

Initially I was fighting a firewall issue because it wasn't working (different errors) on both sides. Had Network Engineers open firewall ports needed and now it works on the publishing side. Still the same error on the Anon side. I suspect I have missed
something when it comes to configuring the Secure Store to allow access to anonymous connections.
Let me know if you need any more information but that should paint a pretty good picture as to how things are set up.

I recommend to verify the things below:
Did this issue occur with all the pages in the anonymous side?
Check if the Claims to Windows Token Service is started.
Change the <identity impersonate="true" /> in the web.config to see if the issue still occurs.

Unchecking them won't help, it will only hide them from view. The issue you're running into is that iCloud doesn't sync contacts from non-iCloud accounts like your exchange and Yahoo accounts. In order to sync these with iCloud, you would need to copy them to the iCloud account and then disable contact syncing with these other accounts. (If you didn't disable contacts syncing with these accounts, you would see duplicates of these contacts on your phone -- one from the external account, and one from iCloud.) If you want to do this, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup. (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from your other accounts you will need the “Pro” version.) Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from the other accounts) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself. Confirm that you have received the email before proceeding to step 3.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and confirm that this is set to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your Yahoo and your exchange account and turn off contacts syncing with these accounts. This will remove the contacts from these accounts from your phone.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from these accounts back to your phone, and to iCloud. All your contacts should now be in iCloud and be visible on icloud.com.

iCloud email addresses (@mac.com, @me.com and @icloud.com) require SSL. Is your address an iCloud address or someone else?

Server proxy is not working

I have a scenario from jdbc to SAP.I have made serverproxy.The proxy was not working.I have test the proxy backend it is working fine,but i am staring jdbc channel the data was not insert in to the database table in sap.I have checked in sxmb_moni in sap r/3 system is showing scuessfully,but data was not sent to proxy.I have put one break point in the code for debugging the proxy.But data was not comming to breakpoint.Kindly help me.

Make sure that you have not done any changes in your XI structure recently otherwise regenerate the proxy and then try agin.
Secondly if you have not done any changes then it's ok. Just one thing, have you used Commit Work just after modifying/inseting the value into database table. If not use this and then try again.
It seems that smoethig went wrong at R3 side because you said data is successful in R3 MONI, so data is reaching to R3 but not going into proxy.
When you kept the break point then were you able to see the debugger screen in R3?

There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that. You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.

If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream

If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.

I've used my iTunes password for everything else Apple does and would like to use the same one for my iCloud.

Do the following:
Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

Roger provided you with the steps to get your new ID signed onto iCloud on your Mac. If you have any devices that still have that old iCloud ID still signed on, you will have to do the following for those:
1.     Go to Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your current ID and password, then change your Apple ID back to the old ID (the one that is still showing on iCloud). This is temporary so, do NOT verify the ID, do NOT change the password: Apple - My Apple ID
2.     Go to Settings>iCloud and sroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Delete Account. Use your current Apple ID passoword when asked. Follow the prompts to complete the deletion of the iCloud account
3.     Go back to Manage your Apple ID and change your ID back to your new ID (you may have to verify it again)
4.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with your new Apple ID. Everything will be pushed back to your device from your iCloud account - it make take a few minutes

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you changed your email address and iCloud is looking to sign in with the old Apple ID email. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Be sure you are checking the email account that you used to set up the Apple ID you used to create the iCloud account. Also, be sure to check your spam/junk folder as well as your inbox. The email you should receive looks like the image below. When you get it, click the Verify Now link.
If it still isn't there, try going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right look for a link to resend the verification email.
