Icons for both Logic 9.2.0. and 9.1.1.

When I upgraded to Logic Pro 9.2.0., it created a new icon for 9.2.0., as opposed to updating the previous version of Logic. This left me with two Logic Pro icons. Now that I have upgraded to 9.1.1., my original Logic Pro is updated, and the Logic Pro 9.2.0. is still there.
I assume I should just delete the 9.2.0., but why is the installer creating new icons.
Does the 9.1.1. update include everything in 9.2.0.?

You can edit posts up to about 20 minutes after you posted, mainly to correct errors etc.

I was wondering if anyone can help with this. I am running Creative Cloud and have been for a year or so on my Mac Pro (10.8.5). Recently (as in a few months ago) the icons for both Creative Cloud (the infinity/cloud symbol) and Adobe Updater (the stylized A) have been showing up in my menu bar. Both indicate if there are apps to update and both open Creative Cloud if I click on them (or in Updater go to update apps). Not a big deal, but I already have enough stuff in my menu bar and I was wondering if there was a way to stop having both show up. Thanks.

I use it often. not everyday, but there is always some little command or procedure that you can't remember

I use them both, but the onscreen help a little more often. Some times I like to walk away from the computer and sit on the couch and read the manual, just to have a change of scenery

I didn't use it, although it looks great, I went right into the reference manual. I did look at the tutorial song, which was nice cause it gave me some hands on experience with moving things around

Logic is different that other DAW's. Logic's way of doing things may seem real strange to someone who came from using another program. as I said before, spend more time on things that are only found in Logic, like the environment. It really frightens some people.
Many of the questions here in this forum are midi related. people seem to be having a real hard time making midi work in Logic. The manual could be more detailed in explaining midi communication and how the environment is the heart of all of this

Provided manuals and a lot of trial and error. Also forums such as this are a great asset

No, logic's manual is as good as most others.

For me it was the transform window, it took me a while to get the hang of it. none of the other programs I worked in had anything quite like it.

there are a few errors, so it is frustrating when you are following the manual but not achieving your goal. For example, page 112 says:

The ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Logic Resources/Icons folder can contain icons which are only valid for the particular user (~ is the user name). If you save your icons in the root directory—/Library/Application Support/Logic/Logic Resources/Icons—the icons are valid for all users. If icons with identical numbers exist in both folders, the icons found in the user folder have priority.
But this is not the case, they actually go in /Library/Application Support/Logic/images/Icons
there was a couple other mistakes like this too, but i can't remember right now

If you wanted to get into doing video tutorial, that would be cool. there is a web site called atomic learning http://www.atomiclearning.com/ they have quicktime video tutorials for a ton of different software applications, some apple, and for a flat fee of 79.99 for a year you can spend as much time as you like learning all of the software applications. I may sign up to learn Web design, and maybe final cut pro. Apple could do something like that for all of the apple software and do it much better I would think, and you guys would make a fortune. well I guess not compared to the fortune you are already making

Please help with advice on setting up facetime and messages on ipod touch. \When I enter the sign in apple id for both apps it just flicks back to the sign in or sign up page after verifying it.
We have very strong internet, I have already rebooted and shut down and set up a new email account and changed apple id from y7mail to gmail and still it is not working.... super frustrating!! Hope you can help.

The icon for Norton Identity Safe has disappeared and I can't figure out how to get it back on my toolbar.

I use Norton which has a feature called "Identity Safe." In the old version of Mozilla, the icon for this feature was available on my toolbar. Now that I have converted to the latest version of Firefox, the icon has disappeared and I cannot figure out to get it back. I can still activate the Identity Safe by opening Norton, but I want to restore the shortcut.

Symantec have made an update for their add-ons to work in Firefox 4, but they only listed them as compatible with Firefox 4.0, they need to update them to let them work in Firefox 4.0.1, they have indicated this will be happening soon. I have the same laptop. There's nothing you really need to do to optimise the system. Perhaps just install the cuda drivers.

I understand that a system icon for power is not powered on for your computer, and that it cannot be changed. What is the icon name on your computer? Is this a recent or a reoccurring issue? How to format a drive for both iBook (10.3.9) and MacBook Pro (10.5.8)?

We have two external drives, one Firewire and one USB. They're working like a charm with our MBP under 10.5.8.
The MBP has to go into the shop. I figured I could use the iBook with the external drive until the MBP comes back.
Alas, the IB cannot read either drive!
What do I do to format an external drive so that it works with both? Ideally, it would be good if both laptops could boot from the same drive, too!

Lyssa, both have their own power supplies. It's the usual assortment of files--photos, Word docs, Excel spreadsheets, astronomy programs (natch!), and the complete system.
Niel, I think you're on to it. We have a third smaller drive that must have been formatted APM for the iBook, which the MBP sees and works with--and probably can even boot from. But you've provided an important cautionary note about that.
Alas, the quest for a decently priced 10.4 for the iBook has turned up empty...
This is a head-scratcher. I'll have to figure out the best way to keep working while the MBP is in the shop. I certainly can copy over several key folders I've been using, or the entire home folder, but that leaves behind the MBP's apps!
Do you think I could clone my MBP to an APM formatted drive? And boot with it from the iBook? Or, would I run into problems with it being an Intel based 10.5.8 OS on the external drive booting a Power PC iBook? Woe is me!

Why do I click on an icon for a program on a z10 and have the program immediately crash?

I'm having an issue with some programs from BlackBerry World on my z10. The programs download and install, but when I click on the icon to open the program, it immediately crashes & I go back to the home screen. How can I make these programs run?

No, it's more likely that they are android apps and there is something corrupted in the Android player and/or data.
Before this crashing happened did you see these apps start with a green status bar that never went all the way to completion?

Can Time Capsule be used for both Time Machine back-up and a place to store other things?

I thought I had heard that it was best to keep whatever external drive you use for Time Machine to be exclusive for Time Machine back-ups. Does Time Capsule automatically partition an area for Time Machine. Also, since Time Machine auto deletes some things when the external drive gets full, does it just keep backing up until it fills the Time Capsules 2 TB or whatever the space is? Thanks in advance for help.

It does not partition the drive but creates a sparse bundle which acts as a sealed directory.
You can store other things on the TC. Just create a new directory for your stuff.
The TC needs to have at least 2 or 3 times the space used by your hard disks in all your computers. So it can manage a full backup plus the hourly incrementals.. !! It can take a long time to fill up if you don't change stuff around much.. or it could fill up relatively quickly if you constantly load files in and out.
Remember though a TC is not a NAS, it has no mirror and if the TC is the only copy of some files you are storing on it, and the TC breaks down, then those files are lost.
I have seen others suggest it is better to use a USB hdd connected to the TC to store files you want access to. Balance between storage and backup won't be that difficult. If the TC is becoming full, make a decision about where you want to store those other files.
