ILife language installation

Hi,
I ordered iLife in the Belgian Apple Store and got DVD with Dutch inscriptions. I am tryin to exchange it, but I woonder if you can install any language from the DVD ? I run everything in English - don't care about the printed instructions.

Hi Alain - it shouldn't matter which language the printed instructions are in, the application packages themselves (iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie etc.) contain many different language files which enable the application to run in whichever language you prefer (set in the International pane of System preferences), in your case English.
If I check my copy of iPhoto, for example, purchased thru the UK online Apple store but shipped from the Netherlands, a normal installation contains files for the following languages: Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Spanish, Swedish, and Chinese (x2). To see this 'Get Info' on an app, particularly the Apple ones, and check the 'Languages' section in the Info window.
I can't imagine that Apple would ship separate iLife DVDs with software containing only the Dutch language - so I am pretty sure that your DVD is essentially the same as mine and you'll be able to install and carry on iLifing in English.

Thanks Peter, I'll probably give that a go - not too exciting.

  • Multiple language installer for Adobe Reader

I need a compressed multiple language installer for Adobe Reader to install with my software.  Is one available?

When we requested a license to distribute the multi-language version of Adobe Reader with our software, we recieved the following link to a download:
    "For full installers: "
"To download the English language version of Adobe Reader 9 with Acrobat.com in compressed .exe format, click here."
When you click on the link, you get a single file (AdbeRdr11006_en_US.exe).  This is an installation for english only.  I am looking for a single .exe file for a multi-language installation.
The link you provided above is to a .zip file that must be extracted and then run.  This requires additional steps in our installation process.  We were hoping you have a single installation file to prevent these additional steps.

First of all, uninstall it with the uninstaller.
    Then:
    Install the ENGLISH version.
Change the language in the CC app to Korean.
Install the Korean version. (DON't uninstall the English version)
Change back the langauge in the CC app to English.
When your OS is running in English, InDesign will run in English with Korean functionality added, if your OS is running in Korean it will take the Korean User Interface, so let your OS run in English.
Every installer language will add needed plugins for the work with that language. E.g. If I install Hebrew, I get RTL functionality in German version, only if I would change the OS language it would change the language of InDesign, InDesign takes always as UI language the language of the OS if available, if not (in your case you have uninstalled English before), it takes any version which is available in the order of languages specified in the OS.
If you need to run your program in a different language than the OS but you have installed it in the language of the OS it becomes more difficult. You would have to use some system tools which are able to force a program to open with a different language. Most of those tools are freeware.

  • Change language installation

how can i change the language installation of adobe premiere pro cs5.5?

I don't think it can be changed.  You would probably need to uninstall and reinstall a different language version.

  • Mexico: Language Installation

This might seem like a silly questions, but for those with Mexican companies, or operations in Mexico, what language did you install?  I installed Spanish and received a comment from the user in Mexico, who's helping me test, that the Spanish in Mexico is a different dialect than the Spanish language installation, and that for her, using English is easier.
There's not a Mexican version of the Spanish language that can be installed for SAP is there?
    Thank you.
    ~TJ

Well - especially for Spanish the differences can be pretty significant (e. g. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_dialects_and_varieties) across the world.
Thats correct theres still a lot of dialects still widely spoken in Spain, The Spanish that is used as a standard and was inherit by people in the Americas (Mexico Included) is called "Castellano"...
    A bit more,

  • Is language installation version dependent ?

Is the language installation depends on the SAP version ie. if there is CD for installation of language into 4.6c system will it work on ECC 6.0 or for XI or 4.0. ?

    Hey,
Every version of SAP system has it own localization language installation. for example, ECC6 might have some texts that
    4.6c doesn't have.
Installation of ecc 6.0 will not work on XI 3.0 (sap will not release XI 4.0, instead they would release PI 7.0) due to the fact that most
of the translation in ECC are not relavant in XI (for example, material number is not  an entity in XI).

  • Hungarian Language installation steps

Please let me know, what are the steps to be taken to install the Hungarian Language in 46C environment in a non-Unicode environment?
We are also planning to upgrade to ECC 6 and conversion to Unicode, How does this Hungarian Language installation will affect the upgrade to ECC 6 and conversion to Unicode?
Your help will be highly appreciated
    -Al Mamun

    Hi Al,
I assume you are having a System based on Latin-1 (Western European Code Page).
In this case, SAP highly recommends to do the upgrade and the Unicode conversion BEFORE introducing Hungaria. Otherwise you have to switch the system to MDMP (because the Hungarian language is not included in the Latin-1 code page) and this causes significant additional effort during the Unicode conversion !
    Therefore the recommendation is:
    1) Upgrade and Unicode Conversion
    2) Installation of the Hungarian Language (which is then a standard installation according to the Language Installation Guide)
Please also have a look at notes 79991 and 73606 for further information.

  • Streamlining language installation of Tiger

    Hi,
I am getting ready to upgrade to Tiger and would like to know if there is a way to bypass the non-english language portion of the installation. When I installed Panther it seems a lot of the install time was related to language installation. I'm not a xenophobe...I was just looking to streamline the installation.
    Thanks,
    Rick

    Hello Rick,
I do not know of any way to stop the languages being installed - I am sure there is a way. One neat little Application that will remove the languages is here...
    Monolingual
    Also...
Deleting all the unused printer drivers can release a considerable amount of space. I managed to " regain " around 2Gigs this way.
    Hope that helps some

    Hello
Please have a look at below points
    1. any language is imported first in 000
    2. for every language some text which is not translated has to be supplemented with Englisg or German
    3. there is periodic supplementaion if new support packs or notes appled in system in future
    4. once language is in 000 it has to be copied and supplemented in all oter clients
    5. Please see that all above steps have been taken care or not
    6. I suspect since users are able to login and work in system and only some characters are shown as * ,check supplementation part
But this is my guess .
Please see all language related notes
    Hope this helps
    Success!!

  • ILife 06 Installation: No Custom Button

I recently purchased iLife 06 and started the installation and it said that it needs to run a program to make sure it can install it. So I click Okay and wait, then it says it can't install iPhoto on this computer because it's unsuported. My mac meets al the requirements. It says to use the custom button to install the apps individually but there isn't a custpm button ANYWHERE!!! Does anyone know what to do?
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

If, as Terence pointed out, you only have 754MB of free space on your boot drive then you're in really big trouble. It's generally recommended to have a minimum of 10G free space on the boot drive, more if possible. You won't even be able to burn a CD as the system required an equal amount of free space to create a temporary CD image.
You need to find a way to backup and move a lot of files off your boot drive. An external FW HD is the easiest way to backup your files and clean up your boot drive. You can also recover some disk space by running Monolingual to remove the unneeded language modules. I saved about 900 MB the first time I ran it.
Once you get your free space situation corrected you can address getting iPhoto 6 on your Mac. What Mac model do you have? I've only found models with 733MHz chips, not 700 MHz.
The specs for iLife 06 are:
    System Requirements
Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G4, G5 or Intel Core Duo processor; 733MHZ or faster required for iDVD
    256MB of RAM; 512MB recommended
Mac OS X v10.3.9 or Mac OS X v10.4.3 or later; Mac OS X v10.4.4 recommended
If you Have a G3 machine you can use iPhoto but some of the advanced editing capabilities will not be available. Also you probably will have to use Pacifist to locate the iPhoto install package on the iLife disk and install it.
But first you have to get some free space on your boot drive.
    Do you Twango?

  • ILife 08 installer asking for application program

Hi everyone, I have a pretty simple question, I hope. When I go to install iLife 08 on my new MacBook, I double click the installer icon and it asks me for what application program I want to open it with.
The installer icon comes up on my iMac (you know the little yellow "package" icon) but when the disc is put in the Macbook, it is a plain "file" icon. Very strange!
    Anyone have any ideas?

Are you installing from the iLife 08 disk? Those installer packages should be opened by "Installer.app" which is located in the HD/System/Library/CoreServices folder. If you have another installer package on your HD select it and type Command+i. In the Info window that comes up select Installer.app from the menu for Open with. Then click on the Apply to All... button. Then the iLife installer package should open automatically with the right application.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

    How should this work?
Unfortunately SAP hasn't an integrated translator like Babelfish....
