IllegalStateException for cmr-fields due to diff txns

Hi,
I am using cmp entity beans on WebLogic Server 7. Assume bean 'A' to bean 'B' is
1:M
I get the following exception while trying to create bean B -
<Exception in MyClass.createB(): javax.ejb.EJBException: EJB Exception:: java.lang.IllegalStateException:
Attempted to access the collection valued cmr-field, 'b', for bean, 'A', in a transaction
that is different than the transaction in which the collection was materialized.
All access to the collection must be performed during the transaction in which the
collection was initially retrieved.
I upgraded from 6.1 sp2 to 7 and got this exception. I never got it in wls 6.1 sp2.
Since my beans are cmp, the container handles all transactions and I have specified
<trans-attribute>Required</trans-attribute> in ejb-jar.xml.
How can I ensure that the container uses the same txn for accessing all cmr fields?
I will appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I figured out the problem. The caller that calls methods on the entity bean interfaces
has to wrap the calls inside a transaction.

Hi at all,
I have two entity beans, customer and article. I model a CMR one to many relationship between customer and article; customer contains a collection of articles. I'm working on the J2EE reference implementation. When verifying the application with the verifyer tool, I get the following error message:
For [ customerBean ]
Error : Invalid type assigned for container managed field [ article ] in bean [ customerBean ]
article in customerBean is of type Java.util.Collection. What's going wrong here?

What parameter do you pass to the method when you are setting the relationship? Collection of which objects? You should pass a collection of local interfaces.

actually my client want to change the payment term for all the vendor invoices.so wt we did is... we created aprogram to change the old payment term to new payment term in the vendor line items(fbl1n).
when we run the program its changing the payment term and the base line date and the NO of days in the vendor linitems.but it not changing the net due date based on the new baseline date.
i think with out changing the net due date only changing the payment term is use less.coz the item again show as due in the same date.
so how can we change the net due date based on the new baseline date.?from which table we can take the field FAED and update with the new date.
plz advise me?

In tcode F-40 field "Due on" is not getting displayed.

Dear Friends,
While making the payment entry through t.code F-40 and using the posting key 39 with special GL indicator " R" the Layout which occurs in which "Due on" field is not appearing please let me know from where we can display the field "Due on".
We have already cheked the following field status.
1. Posting Key and special GL indicatior field status (t.code OB41, OBXT, OBYR and FBKP)
2. Document type field status.
3. GL field status.
None of the above field status controls field "Due on" in F-40 t.code.

You can't change the Due on field to display for F-40 Transacton code. because of this mandatory fields for

Color for a Field in alv output

I use a field in the ALV grid output which needs to display color (red or green) depending on certain validations. Please tell me how to display color for this field. The program uses oops.

3. read table itab index 3.

4. see program SHOWCOLO for all color codes
1. Add a field of data type CHAR(3) to the internal output table.
2. Enter the color code in the appropriate field of the row to be colored in the internal
output table:
Code: 'Cxy'
C = Color (all codes begin with 'C')
x = color number ('1' - '9')
y = highlight ('0' = off, '1' = on)
3. Assign the internal output table color code field name to the IS_LAYOUT importing
structure IS_LAYOUT-INFO_FIELDNAME field and pass this structure in the ALV call
interface.
To enable row coloring, you should add an additional field to your list data table. It should be of character type and length at least 4. This field will contain the color code for the row. So, lets modify declaration of our list data table gt_list.
you should fill the color code to this field. Its format will be the same as explained before at section C.6.3. But how will ALV Grid know that you have loaded the color data for the row to this field. So, you make it know this by passing the name of the field containing color codes to the field INFO_FNAME of the layout structure.
e.g.
ps_layout-info_fname = <field_name_containing_color_codes>. e.g. ROWCOLOR
You can fill that field anytime during execution. But, of course, due to the flow logic of screens, it will be reflected to your list display as soon as an ALV refresh occurs.
You can color an entire row as described in the next section. However, this method is less time consuming.
Coloring Individual Cells
This is the last point about coloring procedures for the ALV Grid. The procedure is similar to coloring an entire row. However, since an individual cell can be addressed with two parameters we will need something more. What is meant by more is a table type structure to be included into the structure of the list data table. It seems strange, because including it will make our list data structure deep. But anyhow ALV Grid control handles this.
The structure that should be included must be of type LVC_T_SCOL. If you want to color the entire row, this inner table should contain only one row with field fname is set to space, some color value at field col, 0 or 1 at fields int (intensified) and inv (inverse).
If you want to color individual cells, then for each cell column, append a line to this inner table which also contains the column name at field fname. It is obvious that you can color an entire column by filling this inner table with a row for that column for each row in the list data table.

Suppress Field "Due Date" in posting screen (F-02)

Hi all,
When I post with special GL for customer / Vendor by t-code F-02, a field "Due on" is always set as required. But I dont need this field in screen. I suppress this field in Field Status group in OBC4 and OB41 (for posting key 09 & 19) already. But this field still appears & require user to input into.
Do you know any way to suppress this field ?

Hi,
For customer special GL transactions use tcodes F-37 (DP request) F-29 (Down payment)
For Vendor Special GL transactions use tcodes F-47 (DP request) F-48 (Down payment)
The field, which you have surpressed in OBC4 might be Due date, but not due on.
Since this field cannot be surpressed, as it is a required field for special GL transactions to determine the vendor/customer aging analysis.

Trouble with mapping CMR field using Sun One Studio

I am having trouble adding a cmr between 2 entity beans. It is a simple one to one relationship, navigatable in only one direction. In the database I have a foreign key defined between the two tables that store the data for the beans.
I add the relation by selecting the 2 beans and define it as one directional, one to one , with the name "bb". I then map the relationship field via the properties/As Sun One tab. I use the foreign key defined in the database. All seems to be well.
Using Sun One AppServer 7 and Studio 4
Upon deploying the application I receive:
CMP Mapping Error in bean Sites:: Warning: The field bb is not mapped.
Set the column mapping for the field.

The CMR/CMP mappings is very instable.
Sunone Studio 5 has a lot of bugs when mapping CMP/CMR but i never saw this one, try to upgrade.

Hopefully not trying to teach you how to suck eggs here, but it looks like the query is doing too much. There shouldn't be a need to perform a "GROUP BY" in a query to dictate if an approval is to be triggered or not, only the criterai to make it happen.
For examle, the following code will send a transaction for approval if the customers code equals a specific reference.....
SELECT 'TRUE' FROM ORDR T0 WHERE ${ORDR.CardCode} = 'ABC001'
If you're wanting a query to just return a boolean answer based on the date criteria, you might want to try adapting your query to something like.......
SELECT 'true' from OINV where max(datediff(day, ${OINV.docduedate}, getdate()))>100 and ${OINV.docstatus} ='O' and cardcode = ${$4.0.0}
(As an additional tip, in order to test a query that you're wanting to use as either a formatted search or approval type selection, when in the transaction, if you locate the relevant saved query under "Tools > Queries > User Queries" etc, where you have references to specific fields e.g. ${ORDR.CardCode}, this will pick up the values from the current record and give you a what if scenario. I tend to have just a "Temp" query I use for WIP type queries of this nature.)
Note - You need to replace the bracket's "{}" with square ones, I've used the others as the forum posts as a http reference.

EJB-QL with self referencing cmr-field in path identifier fails

I have a simple application . Only one bean and one relationship. The relationship is a (0..1)-(0..1) for the same bean (self referencing).
I have a finder method defined with ejb-ql that tries to access the field of one of the cmr fields of the relationship.
class1Bean is the abstract schema for my bean, and subclass1 is the cmr-field name.
SELECT OBJECT(obj) FROM class1Bean obj WHERE obj.subclass1.id LIKE ?1
Here is the error message when trying to deploy:
Bean: Class1
Method: java.util.Collection findBySubclass1(java.lang.String)
EJBQL: SELECT OBJECT(obj) FROM class1Bean obj WHERE obj.subclass1.id LIKE ?1
Error: JDO75100: Fatal internal error: JDO75341: Missing field meta data for field 'subclass1' of 'Class1'
This same code deploys fine on JBoss 4.0, and should be legal ejb-ql. Is this a known issue with Sun JSAS?

Sounds like a problem with the bean metadata. Please check the entity mapping defined in sun-cmp-mappings.xml. Also make sure field sublass1 is defined as CMR everywhere.

I have Created a custom table in which i have created a field is
ZMATLONG which stores material number.
Now the data element is zdmat which is of char 40..
Now i want to give search help for this field ZMATLONG..
I have tried many ways giving search help to this field
a) i Tried to attach the standard search help of MATNR ie : MAT1 but its showing me data type inconsistancy
b) i created a zsearch help and in the selection method i have used database table mara , again here iam getting the same error data type inconsistancy...
Now how can i give the search help like matnr field to my custom field ZMATLONG...
How can i do it..?

Hi,
MATNR ahs length 18 and ZMATLONG has length 40.So due to this u cannot use MAT1 search help.
best way would be cope MAT1 into Z search help. Then in the search help parameter change the data element of field
MATNR as ZMATLONG.
Now if you assign Z search help to ZMATLONG it will work.

Using Field Exit for a field in table KNA1

Hi everyone,
I am working on a ticket, the problem is we have a field called STRAS in table KNA1 which holds the address of the customer but now we want to increase the length of this field from 35 charachters to 55 due to some business requirement. SO my question is if this can be done using Field Exit and if yes.. can you please tell me how as I have never used Field exits.

Hi,
Using field exit, you can only validate the data entry for the field (either globally or on a particular screen field)
This is usually done by implementing the field exit for the data element corresponding to the field(in your case STRAS_GP)
Hence you cannot increase the length of the field using the concept of the field exits...
Please note that after SAP R/3 4.6c, SAP has stopped the creation of field exits and there will be no support for any new ones created.

I believe there is a requirement that any field used as a primary or
foreign key must be an object and implement hashCode/equals.
I'd post in weblogic.developer.interest.ejb.cmp if you want more

u haven't defined the PK entry in the Establishment EJB Bean in DDYes look in the standard DD.
What's more I need both DD as I would with most ejb containers.
The field DB_ESTABLISHMENT_ID is required and I cannot set it to NULL.

Finder method to retrieve CMR field?

Hello all!
I have two entity EJBs - one named "Property" and another named "Merchandise".
Property has a one-to-many relationship to Merchandise, and Merchandise is a CMR
field (named "merchandise") in Property. Now I would like to write a finder method
for Property to retrieve the CMR field (Merchandise references). The finder method
is called "findDVD()". The ejb-ql is below:
SELECT DISTINCT OBJECT(merch) FROM Property AS p, IN(p.merchandise) AS merch
WHERE merch.starsMasterTitleId = ?1
AND merch.productTypeCode = 'VIDEO'

However, I can't seem to get this method to work. Weblogic's EJBC keeps complaining
that the returned collection MUST be of the method owner type - in other words,
I can't return Merchandise references, only Property references.
What am I doing wrong? Is this a limitation in CMR that I didn't know about? Please
help!
I am using WLS 6.1 with SP 1.

If you are using ejb2.0 you can do this using a home method and select
method instead of a finder. Finders are limited to returning objects of the
type of ejb they belong to while select methods are not. Select methods
cannot be invoked directly by the clients so you need a home method to wrap

I can't return Merchandise references, only Property references.
What am I doing wrong? Is this a limitation in CMR that I didn't knowabout? Please
help!
I am using WLS 6.1 with SP 1.

Javax.ejb.EJBException: Attempt to access a collection valued cmr-field

I have 2 local CMP project and defect
i have a method getDefectList in ProjectBean. This method returns a collection of defect object.The relationship of Defect and Project is defined in ejb-jar where project can contain many defects.
when i try to access this method in a session bean it gives me the error
"javax.ejb.EJBException: Attempt to access a collection valued cmr-field outside the scope of a transaction."
Please let me know the solution.

After further research, it looks like CMR fields can only use three options for the trans-attribute: Mandatory, Required, or RequiresNew

<trans-attribute>Mandatory</trans-attribute>
</container-transaction>
thus I believe that you will have to begin a transaction before executing your method.
