IMac & hp 2175 all-in-one

My printer prints from the computer and copies anything... But when I "scan" I can't find the scanned picture or information on the computer. Is my computer not working/reading the scan OR is it "hiding" it on the computer where I haven't looked (not on desktop/hard drive that I can find, not found under "recent items") ?

ACK! Thank you so much! LOL! So simple, but just different enough after nearly 5 years with our little eMac, where it all showed right away in the print window, I just had no clue. :P Will continue to do as you suggest for all the programs and see how it goes.

  • HP PSC 2175 All-in-one prints blank pages from word, chrome and notes

My HP all-in-one printer PSC 2175 all-in-one has suddenly decided to print blank pages.
So far I've tried printing from Word, Notes and Photoshop but come up with nothing.
It prints test pages and diagnostic pages without any problems and it makes direct copies without problems.
The diagnostic tool can't find anything wrong.
I've run all the software I could find on Swedish HP.
I've reinstalled the printer, reinstalled Word, repaired Windows, nothing helps.
I have Windows XP, fully updated.
    Any suggestions?

I am having this problem too - just prints blank pages. Ran the tests checked cartridges settings sanity nothing.Scans fine.I currently have three duff printers in my office which is more than frustrating...

    Hi,
I suggest uninstalling the printer drivers from your HP printer. The go to System Preferences> Printer & Fax and in the printer list box go ahead and reset the printing system. Do that by right clicking over the printer list box ad the option should appear. After that close system preferences and reinstall your printer drivers from the HP CD. After installation check if your printer works as expected, if it does, stop here and ignore the rest of the message.
If you don't have the install CDs for the printer or the previous step does not work; connect your printer to your Mac via USB and then again go to system preferences. Open the Print & Fax menu and in the printer list box you should see a "+" sign. Click on it, and a new window should appear with a list of printers that are available to you. If that's the case, go ahead click your printer name and wait for the computer to look in the Apple servers for the drivers. When searching is finished click the "install" button. This process will open software update and install the neccesary drivers.
After that, you should be able to scan documents with the Preview App.

    Hope this helps!

  • New iMac, new HP all-in-one - will they be compatible?

I am new to Macs, and loaded Leopard as soon as I got it. Immediately after, I loaded the software for my brand new HP C4280 all-in-one. All seems fine except the scanner - I get a message indicating that the USB is not connected, or a message that no Image Capture device is found.
    Can anyone advise me?
    Thanks, Kepp

Welcome to the Mac platform. I have a HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One running under Leopard and the TWAIN driver doesn't seem to work with other applications. For example, when scanning in Photoshop or Image Capture it will either not recognise the scanner or crash the application when it does.
Firstly, you need to make sure that you are using the latest software from HP. I think version 9.1 is the latest for your C4280 printer. If you haven't got the latest, uninstall all the (HP) software and install v9.1.
Secondly, don't use Apple's Image Capture, just use HP's Scan Pro which works well under Leopard.
    I hope this helps.

  • "Stuttered" printing in middle of page on psc 2175 all in one

I have been very happy with my 2175 for several years.
Then today I have experienced all kinds of problems.
A lot of noises, best described as Grinding.  Also, the msg "Open door, clear carriage jam then press enter, -- following which I would get a msg to the effect of "Close cartridge Door, etc."
I have went through the procedures (several times) found on the website for trouble shooting the problems including doing the "cleaning procedures", (including cartridges and  paper rollers/wheels doing a through search for any paper jams etc . (none found),doing all the power off- power on -- cycling suggestions.
Right now, I have been able to print without strange noises, But I have "stuttered" printing in the middle of page of any printed document -- a MS Word Letter, or a printed webpage for example .  By "Stuttered" I mean a slight shift and reprint of characters.
The shift is much less than a standard character width on some documents consisting of only 2 or 3 characters.   By middle of page,  I mean the stuttering is confined to about 10 per cent of the page width - and right in the middle.  The Left and right  sides of the printed document appear fine.
Is it time for a new printer?  I hope not.
    Thanks,

Gently clean the encoder strip as described here.  Heed the warnings, the strip is fragile and can be damaged by rough handling.

  • HP psc 2175 all in one not responding to paper size selected

Im trying to print out wedding invitations using the downloaded template from the invitation company, through microsoft word 2003, windows xp, sp3. And my printer wont respond to any aper size selections other than 8.5x11. It won't even let me change to one of the other options in the paper size drop down box. I can put in the paper sizes, but when I print, it's not changed. And in print preview, it won't let me change the document at all. I've made sure everything is up to date.

A complete re-install worked. I completely formatted and the reinstalled Snow Leopard and life is good.

  • HP 2175 All in One Desktop printer

I just replaced the ink cartridge and now I get the normal "Press Enter to Align Cartridges" message. When I press enter I see the following "Report Job Queued" and then the printer starts the alignment process. Part way through the alignment I get the following message "alignment Cancelled" and the printer then flashes the original "press enter to align cartridges" message. This has never happened before I cannot get out of this loop. can anyone help please.  Thanks.

I used to have that same printer and had the same issues you describe. My solution was to replace it with one of the newer models with built in 802.11g wireless networking. That is probably not the solution you are looking for though.
HP does sell a wireless network upgrade kit which may solve your needs. I have no experience with this kit whatsoever so I can't speak for how well or poorly it might work. If you try going this route you might want to make sure they have a decent return policy first.

I did use one of these Belkin Bluetooth devices on my laser printer for awhile and it actually worked fairly well. The expected delay before printing with Bluetooth and a limited range (living room to the office) but it did work.
    http://tinyurl.com/ynmkek
Something along the lines of the Linksys Wireless Print Server may also work for you. Again I have no experience with this product, but reports I have heard from those who use them say they work well.

Finally as others have mentioned sharing it on the Apple Extreme Base stations works well. I have had no problem sharing my laser with PC's in this manner.

  • OLD PSC 2175 all in one PAPER JAM

I have tried every suggestion I could find on this forum and went so far as to take it apart and clean up the ink dribbles and reset all cable connects. then I did the uninstall/reinstall.
When I try to print, The paper comes too far forward by about an 1.5 or 2 inches and then I get the pop up "JAMMED". I pull the paper thru, reinsert it in tray, press enter and it prints. Is it time for the trash heap? It's seven years old but has only done about 2 500 packs of paper. Thanks for any help.

  • I have a psc 2175 all-in-one. "Automatic Two Sided Printing Module Is Missing."

Whenever I try to print on both sides of the paper, I get this message:
Automatic Two Sided Printing Module is Missing."
There doesn't seem to be anywhere that a module would be inserted into this printer. Am I missing something here? Very confusing! Please help!

Via the control panel, find your printer and right-click it and choose "Printing Defaults..."  From there click the Services tab and open the HP Toolbox.  In there click the Configuration tab and un-check "Automatic Two-Sided Printing Module" and click "Apply".  This will get back the dialog that tells you when it's time to turn your pages around.

  • How to reinstall Mac os x 10.5.6 to my imac desktop 24 inch all in one i put in disk and held c down and it came to a message saying os x cannot be installed on this computer HELP?

Ok here lately when i came into my office and go to cut on my imac desktop 24inch all in one it would come up to a white screen with a grey folder with a question mark blinking in the center of the screen well i just want to reload the machine but when i put my Mac os x install dvd that came with it into it you gets past the folder blinking to the screen where it has the Mac os x installer bar at the top but in the middle of the screen in says Mac os x cannot be installed on this computer and has two buttons one that says ok and the other that says restart how can i get this to stop giving me this error and get to where i can just reinstall the os PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand, while you may have knowledge with PCs you don't have the diagnostic tools available to you to professionaly diagnose a Mac. Apple does not make those tools available for the general public, they are only available to Apple and AASPs. To install the OS on the machine you need to locate the original 10.5.x install disc that shipped with the machine and insert it into the SuperDrive. Below are Apples instructions for setting up the machine:
    Turn on the computer.
Insert the Mac OS X Install DVD into the optical drive, or insert the MacBook Air Software Reinstall Drive into the USB port.
    Restart the computer.
Press and hold the "C" key while the computer starts up. The computer will start up using the Install media. Alternatively, press and hold the Option key at startup to select the volume containing the installer.
If your are using a wireless mouse, a mouse icon should appear asking you to turn the mouse on so that the computer can discover it.
Select a language, then press the right arrow key.
Click the Utilities menu, the choose Disk Utility.
Select a volume to erase (usually called Macintosh HD).
    Click the Erase tab.
Click Erase... Important: This step will completely erase your hard drive. If you have installed Microsoft Windows using Boot Camp, or have multiple partitions, this procedure will erase the partition you select.
A dialog box appears asking if you want to erase the partition: click Erase.
After the partition is erased, choose Quit Disk Utility from the Disk Utility menu.
Part Two: Installing the operating system
When the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Installer screen appears, click Continue.
When the license agreement appears, click Agree.
Select the disk you erased. It should now be highlighted with a green arrow.
Click Install. A status bar appears on the bottom of the screen while Mac OS X installs.
An Additional Information screen appears, advising you that you operating system has been installed. Click Continue.
An Install Succeeded screen appears. Click Restart.
Part Three: Completing the Mac OS X Setup Assistant
When the restart has completed, a welcome video plays, then country/region selection screen appears.
Select your country or region and click Continue.
Select a keyboard layout and click Continue.
A migration screen appears. If you wish to migrate your data from another Macintosh, see Migration tips and tricks. If you do not wish to migrate, or want to migrate later, select "Do not transfer my information now" and click Continue.
A Wireless Service screen appears if you have wireless services available within range of your computer. Select "On" and click Continue.
If the network is password protected, you be asked for a password when you select it. Type the password and click Continue.
An Apple ID screen appears. This is used to purchase content from the iTunes store. When complete, click Continue.
If you do not have an Apple ID, click Continue to move to the next screen.
A Registration Information screen appears. You are not required to fill this out, but it is helpful if you do. When complete, click Continue and your product registration will be sent immediately.
If Mac OS X servers are available on your network, you'll be asked if you'd like to log on to them. If not, click Continue.
A Create Your Account screen appears. This will be used to create a User Account with Login ID and Password for you computer. You should remember this password. You'll be asked for it when you install new software or perform other administrative tasks on your computer. When complete, click Continue and your account will be created immediately.
A screen to select your user picture appears. Take a snapshot with the built-in camera or select a picture from your Library. When complete, click Continue.
A MobileMe screen appears. Select an option and click Continue.
A Thank You screen appears. Click Go to complete the Mac OS X Setup Assistant.
Eject the Mac OS X Install DVD by dragging its icon to the Trash.
    Good luck.

  • A new IMac, old xp pc, Linksys and a new Hp All in one...now what?

Someone please point me in the right direction. I need to share all the functions of the HP all in one, printing and scanning with my new mac and old xp PC. Sharing files will be nice as well. At this point all will be hardwired. I may add a PC notebook wirelessly in the future. The Imac and the pc are hardwired to the router ( Linksys WRT54G Version 2). At this point I can access the internet fine. The printer HP CM1312nfi MFP is still in the box.
What do I do next. My router is out of warrantee and Linksys will not help. Apple care tells me to call Linksys and HP says the same.
I need a simple step by step guide that I can understand. I have been searching the internet for days and I simply give up?
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance!

  • IMac will not recognize scan function of all in one printer

My 24" iMac will print on the HP Photosmart 3210xi All in One, but will not scan.
Twice, (to ensure I didn't miss anything) I have run the manual un-install procedures prescribed from HP, and installed the appropriate driver for Mac with no success.
When I try to scan, the scanner wants to begin, but the computer displays the message, "Sorry, scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner not found.)" We have the correct driver (Not the Print only option).
This printer still works "full-up" on the clunker PC, so it's not a hardware issue with the printer.
Any others with similar all-in-one issues? Solutions?

I had the same problem with my HP Photosmart 2610xi All In One Printer. I went to the HP website and downloaded the full feature software/drivers and now it works great. Below is the software that you should download for your printer...hope it works for you!

  • I purchased an iMac MC309LL/A model A1311 21.5" All in one computer. I purchased it 8/28/11 and about 2 months ago it started powering down. I called for support and a Apple Customer Support, I did what they said and now it wont turn on at all.

I purchased an iMac MC 309LL/A model A1311 21.5" All in one computer on 8/28/11. The computer stated to shut down on me every once in a while when I was working on it. I called Apple customer support and a rep walked me through deleting all of my cache files saying it was the prooblem. She then had me do a re-install with the installation disc. After doing that she said to turn my computer off then back on and the computer would want to run some updates an to let them run. I was told to call back if there were anymore problems. The computer turned on for a couple minutes then shut down again and won't turn back on at all now. I took it to the Apple store and they told me it was the main board that delivers power to the computer and it whoulld cost about $550 to replace. I have had this computer for 1 1/6 year and hardly use it. My tech told me the same thing happened to his. Doesn't this mean the equipment could be faulty?
Who keeps track of how many of these are having the same problem and when should there be a recall. I have always used Dells at work. The one I have is 6 years old and works great. I have Compaq laptop at home that is almost 7 years old. I have never had a problem like this before and I can't believe that I spent$1300 for a computer that crashed after 1 yr 6 months. What's worse is that it is my first major Apple product other than my iPod Shuffle.

Sorry to hear of your problem, but any hardware in a computer can fail - that includes the hard drive, the logic board, etc, etc. Fortunately, it usually doesn't happen that soon; however, I've read of hard drives failing within 6 months.
So, since you did not purchase the extended Applecare Protection Plan (3 years coverage), you will need to make a decision to repair or sell it as is. I would always purchase 3 year coverage for an all in one or a laptop because repairs are expensive and at least I'd be covered for 3 years.
We can't speculate on whether there should be a recall or not; these forums are for user to user assistance with technical problems. In your case, there is nothing we can help with since you've already gotten a diagnosis.
