Imadmin purge fools me

We are facing problems while deleting a domain created through the delegated admin.
it is saying container already exists while purging the domain through the command line,
1.after deleting all the users and groups from that domain.
2.after giving the -g0 option of imadmin domain purge
3.after deleting o=internet suffix through the ldapdelet utility.
really it is behaving erratically. We are unable to create the domain with the same name again.Hope everybody else also faced the same problem while going through the archives.Does somebody got any solution or this is a Bug from SUN, where they created like this????
this is Quiet urgent. Please help immediately.

Deleting the o=internet was a bad idea. . .
Purging a domain should work, but now that you've deleted stuff manually, you'll have to look into ldap to see what is left over, and also delete that manually

  • Problems with the imadmin purge user command

    I am using iMS 5.2 hot fix 1.05, iDA1.2sp1 and iDS 5.1
When I try to use the imadmin purge user command I get the following errors:
    [email protected]: purging user
    [email protected]: purge user failed
    Failed connection refused.
If I don't use the -g 0 option then it reports success, but the user account is still in LDAP...
I found a reference to the imadmin user purge command not working when you have iDA 1.2patch1 and iMS 5.1 patch 1 unless you make a change to your resource.properties file but i have tried the file both way and I get the same error with the purge user command.
I can use the imadmin delete user or imadmin modify user without any problem. I am just having trouble with the imadmin purge user command.
    Any ideas?

This problem is documented in bug id 4671472. I have attempted the recommeded fix, but the problem persists. If anyone else has been having a similar problem and has any solution let me know. Thanks.

  • Imadmin purge user

    Hi,
    We're running:
iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 HotFix 2.05 (built Mar 3 2005)
    libimta.so 5.2 HotFix 2.05 (built 11:31:58, Mar 3 2005)
with Delegated Admin 5.1 (1.2p1) and Directory Server 5.1 SP2.
In addition to serving our Messaging Server, our LDAP server is used to authenticate Unix accounts on another Solaris system.
A previous administrator wanted to differentiate accounts for users (Joe Smith) versus departmental accounts (Chemistry Department), for the purpose of the Unix authentication. So as a result, our user accounts are stored in LDAP under
    ou=people, o=oberlin.edu,o=oberlin-college
Yet departmental accounts are stored under
    ou=OberlinColOrg,o=oberlin.edu,o=oberlin-college
Some of these departmental accounts also have email accounts, and thus the typical email attributes in LDAP.
I'm trying to purge some old departmental accounts whose inetuserstatus has had a value of 'deleted' for quite some time now.
I have a regularly running cron job that runs 'imadmin user purge' under the guise of serviceadmin. But looking in the LDAP access logs, I see that it's using: SRCH base="ou=people, o=oberlin.edu,o=oberlin-college".
So it's never finding these departmental accounts, because they're not under ou=people.
I don't fully understand how the search base is defaulting to ou=people...
Is there a way I can indicate an alternate search base for the 'imadmin user purge' command?
If not, what would be my best alternative for removing these accounts (along with their mail folders, addressbook entries, etc)?
    Thanks.

Do these "mail" accounts work? Doubtful. I suspect that at the very least, they do not have addressbooks.
You can manually delete these from DS, using either ldapmodify, or the Directory Console.
You can delete the mailboxes with mboxutil
For Messaging 5.2, I suspect that the purge isn't likely to see that branch of the DIT. You could manipulate the resource.properties file used by DA, but you will want to return it to original after you do that.

  • Imadmin purge domain command failing, was working !

    Hi Folks,
    iMS 5.2p1, iDA1.2p1, Solaris 8
Seem to be having problems with purging domains, that I never use to have. I use an input file to the imadmin command.
eg. imadmin domain purge -i filewhatever domain I try and purge, a failure message is returned.
    domain.com: purge domain failed:
Failed: the domain (or nested domain) cannot be deleted because it contains Service AdministratorsI only have the one 'serviceadmin' user setup at install time. I've had a good look around in LDAP, but can't find out what's the prob. I do have a 'sizelimit' (ldap search return size) issue in LDAP currently, that needs tweaking, but would this cause the problem.....maybe it does. Can anyone confirm. Or is it another prob entirely. Any pointers would be great.
    Cheers,

Thanks Jay, I should have said before I posted I used '-v' to imadmin and went through LDAP access/error logs. No more useful debug info. from imadmin, just the error I get back.
I went back to LDAP and went more finley through the access log. All looks fine, BIND and SRCH and err=0 codes, when looking for the domain. The 'serviceadmin' and 'NDAUser' uid's are called. The domain is found and LDAP filters search on (ObjectClass=inetDomain) and (inetDomainStatus=deleted). Right at the end there is a SRCH using a filter (ou=cn=Service Administrators*) attrs=dn . Where I get a RESULT err=11. This is my problem, err=11 is 'LDAP Admin Limit Exceeded'.
So it appears it could be related to my 'sizelimit' issue problem with LDAP. So I be tweaking that, to see if that helps. Any sugguestions ?

What is the idacli tar file for?
With iDA 1.2p2 you will see a file called idacli-1.0-withJRE-us.sparc-sun-solaris2.6.tar which is for the 6.0 customers who never had a imadmin binary. It is not intended as an upgrade for 5.2 customers. So they should not try to install it at all.
    What it is not?
It is not a version which will work with Web Server 6.1.
It is tested and supported with Web Server 6.0x (6.0.1, 6.0sp5)
It is not a version which should be used without Direct LDAP setup in the Messaging Server. (2 negatives, ok, I mean they really should be using Direct LDAP)
It will not work with Identity Server or schema 2.
It is not part of Messaging 6.0 (although we tested it for EXISTING customers who are going from Messaging 5.2 to 6.0 and using schema 1, we telll customers they can use the iDA they got from 5.2, and this is the one we mean.)
Regarding the install, you should use the release notes of the iDA1.2p1
I'm however, not sure it would solve your problem. I have not found any reference to the described issue which matchess it completely.
And if the upgrade would solve it it's probably because something is rewritten, not fixed ... but you do not know what caused it. I don't like this myself.
I suggest you better open a support case so it is determined what the real problem is.
    Cheers, Ben.

    Reply from Bruce Bergeron:
Anyways, I assume you delete the users with "imadmin user
delete" and then purge them with "imadmin user purge". Once
this is done then you no longer have the users mailboxes or the
    users entries in ldap.
After this you should be able to do "imadmin domain purge" ok.
You said you then deleted o=internet. Why?
o=internet contains the dc tree and should not have to be deleted.
But if you assume you do not delete the o=intetnet dit then you
should be able to recreate another domain with the same name.
I tested this out on iMS 5.2 hf 1.21 with iDA 1.2 hf 1.3 and did not
have a problem. iDA 1.2 hf 1.5 is out now.
So iDA functions just fine. What versions of iMS and iDA are you
    using?

  • Imadmin user purge error

    Hello,
I have problem with purging user (iDA 1.2).
When I try to purge users I get error message
    "Failed: unknown protocol: server_name"
Also, when I use -P option (just preview), all purgable users are listed without any error.
    Any idea?
    Thanks!

    I would do two things:
    1. use the -v flag on your imadmin command, and
    2. Reproduce the entire command, and what comes back, here. From what you posted, I can't tell what the problem is.
    3. Did it ever work, or is this the first time you're trying to purge users?
    4. Do you have iDA installed on this box?

    Has this ever worked before?
Is the web server for DA running? On what box?
imadmin simply calls a servelet on the web server that iDA runs on, so if that's not running, imadmin won't work.

  • Bizarre error in terminal after latest system update while running "purge" command

    sh-3.2# purge
[ERROR]    <CPPathUtils.c:526>    The device-file for this operating system, 'osx-12.1.0.xml', was not found. An attempt to revert to a previous revision of the OS device-file: 'osx-12.0.0.xml' has been made. Please file a Radar report with Apple, on the 'CoreProfile' component, version 'X'.
purge seems to still work, but now every instance of purge is immediately replied with the above error
    any ideas?  is this serious?

My suggestion is to do the following as this is a level 3 error so hence is non critical:
    1. Open Terminal.app
    2. cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreProfile.framework/Versions/A/Resources/De vices/
    3. sudo ln -s osx-12.0.0.xml osx-12.1.0.xml
    4. Enter password if asked
By adding a soft symbolic link you fool the purge command into believing the newer file exists. This type of link is non-distructive and hence if the file osx-12.1.0.xml will be overwritten if it is installed with a future update.
Use this at your own risk but it does offer a temporary fix. Its hard to say if the issue is fixed in 10.8.2 we will have to wait to find out. The fix has the benefit of preventing the annoying message about rolling back as the roll back will be done behind the scenes using the link.

  • Pause Destination problem & Purging messages problem.

I have a couple of things that don't seem to work as I would expect:
    1) If I use the pause destination facility in the imqadmin, does this pause flow of msgs from producers and also to consumers or does it only pause msg flow from producers? (I read for the imqcmd tool that the pause tool can be issued with options to specify one, the other or both. It states the default for the pause command is ALL ie. pause both).
Problem is I tried this on some topics that had data in them and the pause did not seem to stop the consumers from receiving the data. I tried it from both imqadmin and imqcmd and seem to get the same problem.
    2) Also, in my application I can cause messages to back up in the system when I pause a destination further down in the processing stream. (this is expected behaviour). However, if I purge data from the topic further up the stream (say there were 300 messages) and then unpause the consumer further down, I still see data arrive at the consumer further down even though the imadmin display counts show that there are 0 messages in any of the upstream destinations.
Is there some weird interaction between paused destinations and purging data? Am i missing something here? I know that under client reconnects and recovery situations there a cases where unacknowledged messages may be resent by the broker - but I don't think that applies here. If I purge data I expect it to disappear..
I am using SMQ 3.5 SP2 Platform Edition on solaris 9.

I am using a durable subscriber that is connected to the Destination that I purge. (but in the test, this particular destination is not paused. Another destination further down the stream is being paused which is causing data in the earlier destination to build up).
Shouldn't the purge always work even if a Destination has durable subscribers connected?

  • Delegated Admin purge

What process does the actual purge of what is deleted in Delegated admin?
I have seen that you can change the purge interval from the default that is 10 days according to http://softwareforum.sun.com/NASApp/jive/thread.jsp?forum=15&thread=9941&message=16532&q=7075726765#16532 . But that makes no difference ! Users and domains are never deleted. Only the inetuserstatus changes to "deleted".
Do I have to create a cron job that runs for example "imadmin user purge" or how should it work ? Can not find any info about this in any guide...
Is the webserver that runs IDA1.2sp1 (6.0 SP5) supposed to run anything ? (What ? There is nothing in ns-cron !) or should IMS5.2sp1 run anything (what ?).
I have changed the grace period for users and domains according to the link above to "0" and restarted everything. If I then create a user in IDA and the delete it, it is removed from IDA directly, but stays in IDS51sp1 as inetuserstatus=deleted and is never deleted.
Can the known bug 4621763 from the release notes to ims52sp1 have anything to do with this ?
    Thanks in advance
    Per-Olov Sjholm

    Hi !
Thanks for the answer. I think it's a little bit clearer now....
However. It seems like when I run an ldapsearch for inetuserstatus=deleted I got entrys like this....
    uid=claha,ou=people,o=testdomain.se,o=isp
    uid=claha
    uid=emil,ou=people,o=testdomain.se,o=isp
    uid=emil
But when I run an .....
    imadmin user purge -D "ServiceAdmin" -w "Serviceadminpasswordputhere" -n "Serviceadmindomainputhere" -v -g 0 -l claha
(I have tried to add "-d testdomain.se" and other flags as well)
It says that it's trying to purge [email protected] and that it does not exist !
I have tried to write the command above in m a n y different ways without success.
    Any suggestions ?
Everything is working fine except this.
    Thanks in advance

I tried purging using Adobe Bridge by going to Edit/Preferences/Cache then purging, but it becomes non responsive.  The error message said the problem files were at Users/(my user name)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/BridgeCC/Cache.   There are 4 files in there that are taking up 124 GB!  Can I simply delete these files or will it corrupt my regular files?  I tried doing as some other forums suggested and hold the ALT key down when opening Bridge before purging, but no luck.

Yes, you can delete the cache files manually,  Just be advised that Bridge will become very, very slow until it finishes rebuilding its caches.  Depending on your files, that can take a few minutes or several hours.
A good way of doing it is at night, so you can do it before going to bed and let Bridge rebuild caches overnight.
If you can, save the cache files before deleting them to an external drive, so that you'll have them as backup if something goes wrong.

  • "Payables Open Interface Purge" Program

    Hi Guys,
In our production system, it takes 3 minutes to open "Open Interface Invoices" form (AP Manager>Invoices>Entry>Open Interface Invoices). So what should we do so as to avoid this.
I was thinking to delete data from two tables (AP_INVOICES_INTERFACE & AP_INVOICE_LINES_INTERFACE) based on certain crieterions. Like all the records which have been successfully imported i.e. with status='PROCESSED' can be deleted. So, I can achieve this using two methods:
    1. Manually using SQL Delete statement. i.e.
    DELETE FROM AP_INVOICES_INTERFACE WHERE status='PROCESSED';
    DELETE FROM AP_INVOICE_LINES_INTERFACE
    WHERE invoice_id IN (SELECT invoice_id FROM AP_INVOICES_INTERFACE WHERE status='PROCESSED');
    2. Or I can use "Payables Open Interface Purge" Program.
I ran this program for my specific source, and checked the count from tables but the result is the same. This means this program has not deleted any of the processed records from these two tables for the particular source.
What can be the reason for this? Please suggest me on this.
    Thanks a lot!

    Sumir Chawla

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply friends!
I ran the program for some source. It completed successfully, log shown below:
MSG-00001: (Import_purge 1) Check control table for the purge process
    MSG-00001: (Check_control_table 1) Lock the control table
    MSG-00003: (Check_control_table 2) Fetch import_requests
MSG-00007: (Check_control_table 5) Insert record into control table
    MSG-00008: (Check_control_table 6) Commit
MSG-00002: (Import_purge ) Deleting records in interface tables...
    MSG-00008: (Import_purge 5) Commit to the database
    MSG-00010: (Import_purge 7) Delete the previous record in ap_interface_controls
But when I checked both the tables ap_invoices_interface and ap_invoice_lines_interface from backend, the records which should not exist for that particular source and which imported successfully (as purge all is 'No') are still existing in the tables. If I am correct, after successfull run, records should not exist for the source which have status "processed". Please correct me if I am wrong. I think I should log SR.
    Thanks & Regards,
