Image color problem on screen

For no apparant reason, some of the images on my computer screen are coming up in odd, bright colors similar to a negative, but not complete. It happens to images I open on indepenedent web sites and images stored on my computer. When I open some images in Photoshop5, it asks if I want to discard the embedded profile. If I answer yes, the image displays fine. If I answer No, the image colors are distorted. This problem persists on my laptop screen and on the monitor attached to laptop.

Long and short answer: Your images are screwed. Some not so clever person embedded monitor profiles or otehr damaged/ unsuitable profiles into them and the resulting color correction whacks out your stuff. Or in reverse, you have screwy color management settings on your end. No matter what, you need to fix it. Short primer here:
My colors look different outside Photoshop.
IUf the embeded profiles in the files are the problem, each and everyone of them will have to be opened and stripped of the offending color profile information...

  • Cs image color problem

this just started to happen last night
whenever i open up an image in photoshop, or when i print screen and copy the image into photoshop, the image appears darker in photoshop than it does in any other program.
when i use that view option to view in "monitor rgb" it shows the correct color, but that doesn't do anything more than SHOW it in that color. whenever you add a new layer of the image, it goes back to the darker color. when you save it, the image is still darker.
if that above statement confuses you, i'll try and explain.
last night i made a graphic and saved it. after i discovered the "monitor rgb" thing, i re-did the graphic, using monitor rgb on each layer, and when i saved it, it was still the dark color as before. i was working with jpg photos in these graphics, so i know that the original image is lighter than what it appeared in ps.
someone said it was color correction. i've used cs for about a year, and i've never had this problem before. is it color correction? is there a way to turn it off? i've already deleted and reinstalled cs twice, and it's still doing it.

I am stepping in here very tentatively, like standing between a couple of loose alsatians and a child with a half eaten pie in their yard...
Here is a smiley so you don't think we are all so sarcastic here.
Your question is lacking in technical and procedural information and the guys are suggesting that your question is like saying " I have made many nice cakes without recipes and now I have made one that tastes bad - what happened?"
Without colour management, you will strike such problems quite easily, so my forum compatriots are making a good (albeit sarcastic) suggestion to read up on it.
Reinstalling the application is obviously not helping return the defaults to whatever state you had in the beginning, possibly because reinstalling does not delete the old prefs if I recall correctly.
Bottom line is; if you were not in a correct environment to start with, it is a bit hard to go back there...  you would be better off getting your head around the correct workflow so you know where you are.
I just read a post by lou dina offering advice on setting up on his website http://www.dinagraphics.com/color_management.php and I can offer a printer's point of view and layman's overview on my site:  http://www.goannaprint.com.au/colourmanprimer2010.html  where I have explained it in very general terms.
And colour management rule no 1 is "you can't turn it off" - even if you see a button that says "turn off colour management"!

  • X220 IPS Screen Color Problem (red is orange)

    Hi Guys,
Just received X220. Excellent one ! However, I am having some problems regarding color accuracy. Screen seems more warm. Red tends to be orange and green appears more yellowish. I came to know that this is a generic problem for IPS ( HP ENVY 15 also has this issue). Does anyone notice this? Is there any fix for it?
    best
    sumon

It's actually not problem of IPS screen, but the problem is with the original non-IPS screen. Lenovo's screen is severely blueish, it has a very bad color accuracy. If you are adopted to the original screen, you will find IPS is warm and not accurate. But I can assure you if you search for benchmarks about the IPS screen, it is a perfect screen in terms of color accuracy. Although not as good as Apple IPS, it has the same level of color accuracy.

Try running in Safe mode.  This leaves out some video drivers.  Which results in machine not using advanced video hardware.

  • Moving images from Lightroom to Photoshop 2014 CC – Color Problems?

For some reason, whenever I select "Edit in Photoshop 2014 CC", the image color is not only extremely different from what's displayed in Lightroom, it's dark and dull. However, if I export the image as a .jpg and then import it into Photoshop 2014 CC the color looks the same as what's displayed in Lightroom and this is with NO color correction.
Why is this happening and how should I be moving files between the two apps? BTW, I shot the images with a Canon T3i that saves the image as a CR2 and JPG.
    Thanks!

I'm running Lightroom and Photoshop CS3. "Edit image in Photoshop CS3" works fine for me. I'm on an iMac and had Lightroom installed first, only thing I noticed is it takes PS a little longer to open up.

  • Lightroom 4 color problem

I imported tiff images into Lightroom 4 that were scanned by DigMyPics.com.  The color  of the images look good on the Windows 7 photo viewer.  It looks horrible in Lightroom 4.  My monitor is callibrated, the import develope setting is set to "none" , the box is unchecked "apply auto tone adjustments".   I think that the windows viewer is showing the accurate color of the scan and LR is not.  I don't think DigMyPics would send this awful color.  What could the issue be?

Yes, that certainly looks like a problem with the Lightroom rendering. Skin tones and red in general is clearly off, while Windows Photo Viewer looks good.
I'm almost certain this is a problem with the monitor profile. As troubleshooting, try to set sRGB as monitor profile (or Adobe RGB if your monitor is wide gamut), and see if the difference persists. But try to recalibrate first.
    What calibrator and what monitor?

  • Matching color problem on HP Photosmart Premium

I just purchased the Photsmart Premium. I am using Corel Photopaint. The print heads are correctly aligned. I have color corrected using my program. However, the printed images do not match the colors on the screen. I photographed a party last night and I am finding that the color reproduction is not correct. As a case in point. A woman was wearing a red dress close to a PMS 486. The image printed with too much magenta. Also skin tones are not reproducing correctly.  If you did not know the real colors you would not see a problem.
    Any thoughts.

  • Color problem in CS3

I recently had to replace my motherboard and video card (with identiacal cards). This may or may not be related to my problem.
My Photoshop installation now has a definate magenta cast. I am working in sRGB with my color settings set to North America General Purpose 2.
If I set my preview to "monitor" (Samsung SyncMaster 243T) the colors appear correct, but returning to the native program shifts by colors back to the extreme magenta shift.
I can also view the correct colors when using "Save for web or devices"
My monitor is calibrated and I can view images correctly outside of Photoshop.
    Any suggestions?

Thank you both for your suggestions.
Just for fun, I recalibrated but got the same results.
    However...
I am using a Radeon X800GT video card that has two ports. I had not set up the second monitor yet and didn't have it turned on. When I turned it on, I got the "subscript out of range" warning suggesting that I was trying to send a screen resolution that the monitor couldn't handle.
I used an ATI utility to reset the secondary monitor to the correct resolution. Then when I opened Photoshop, the colors were not correct!
Apparantely, there was a conflict in the video card that was spilling over to affect Photoshop.
Getting the screen resolutions happy on both of my monitors fixed the Photoshop color problem.
    Thanks again.

  • My iMac 27" Late 2012 has Image Persistence Problem

I'm wondering what to do about an annoying image persistence problem on my 27" late 2012 iMac. I got the iMac just a few days ago. Monday actually, so 4 days ago.
    It's the 3.4GHz i7, 8GB, NVIDIA 680MX 1TB fusion drive model.
Overall it has become the love of my life, but the image persistence thing is getting harder to ignore. This happens after only a few minutes of use. If I follow Apple's instruction on dealing with LCD image persistence, I can make it go away for a while, but it comes back very quickly.
It is extremely noticeable on a plan dark background. It looks as thought he screen has been left on for a very long time with the same windows open, but it occurrs in less than 5 minutes of use with nothing more intense than a bit of web surfing.
I've read that this is happening a great deal on these new iMacs, particularly teh 27" machines.
While the problem seems to be known to those of us afflicted I don't know if Apple has acknowledged an issue or not.
Here is a sample of the complaints: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1509571
I can make the ghost image vanish by bringing up an all white scree for a minute or so or using LCD Scrub.
I'm wondering if anyone else has foun a solution other than asking for a replacement computer, which Apple seems to be granting on this issue?

Avoiding image persistence on Apple (IPS) displays
Avoiding image persistence on Apple LCD displays
If you cannot resolve the issue yourself, then return the computer for a replacement. You may do this freely within 14 days from date of purchase, so don't delay.

  • ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS6 COLOR PROBLEMS

hi i have a problem on adobe cs6, i am a photographer and i work heavily on my pictures, sometimes with graphic techniques(like lens flare, light leaks etc) and sometimes just with camera raw. i have this problem in the sense that i am satisfied with how the final image looks on my monitor but when i send these pictures to both my phones (AN HTC android and a blackberry q5) the images look over saturated, the colors are too contrasted and are too deep, everything looks like i over edited it and i dont understand. my laptop monitor supports 32-bit imaging and its set to that by default, but my picture mode in photoshop is set to 16-bit by default, please help as i dont know what to do, could it be my monitor thats rendering false colors? i read something about changing color spaces to between sRGB adobe RGB and ProPhoto RGB but i just dont understand anything, please help
    laptop specs:
    toshiba satellite a665-s6050
    intel core i3 350m @2.2ghz
    intel hd 3000 graphics card
adobe photoshop cs6.1 with the latest camera raw

What is the images’ Color Space and do you embed the profile when saving?
In all probability your phones are simply not color managed.
So while converting the images to sRGB might improve the situation the issue may be that you are expecting what’s pretty much impossible – that images appear identically in color managed applications and on non-color managed devices.

  • Connecting laptop to monitor/TV and image is not full screen

I tried to connect my hp stream 11-d010ca to my monitor and my laptop via HDMI but could not get the image to appear "full screen". The picture is being duplicated fine but is only being shown in the centre of the screen and the image is not being stretching the entire screen. Basically there's the duplicated image of the laptop in the centre of the screen with large black unused space around the image on my secondary display.
Here's what is being shown on my Intel HD Control Panel. I am only getting the option to "Centre Image" and there is no option to "fit to scale" etc. The preview image in the link posted is similar to what I am experiencing with the unused black space.

  • Image Colors Change in Bridge Preview Window

I edited some images first in Camera Raw and then Photoshop (CS5), all working in sRGB color space, and saved them as JPEGs.  If I select one of these images in the Bridge content pane, minimize the Bridge window, then maximize the Bridge window, the image appears correctly in the Bridge content pane but the colors are incorrect in the Bridge preview pane.  If I resize the view in the content pane, the image colors in the preview pane get corrected within a couple seconds.  Likewise, if I click on another image and then back, the image colors are correct in the preview pane, but if I again minimize then maximize the Bridge window, the image colors in the preview pane are incorrect again.
Windows Explorer displays the image colors correctly.  ZoomBrowserEX (browser software provided with Canon camera) displays the same image (same file) with incorrect colors.  When I upload these JPEGs to my web photohosting site (PictureTrail), the images appear there with incorrect colors.  That is where this issue becomes most problematic because with the colors being off, the images are useless for posting to online forums or classifieds.
It seems that the color in the JPEG is being read differently by different software, and is even being read differently under different circumstances within Photoshop (Bridge).  Is there a setting somewhere that I need to change?  Or some other issue?  Thanks.....

I have a fair understanding of color profiles and color management.  My monitor is a Dell UltraSharp U3011 set to the factory-calibrated sRGB display mode.
What makes me certain that this is not a simple matter of different color management in different applications is that Bridge is displaying the same JPEG file/image in two panes on the screen simultaneously and the colors do not match.  Furthermore, the incorrect colors in the preview pane image change to the correct colors if I resize the thumbnails in the content pane, or click on another image and then back; and the colors in the preview pane go back to incorrect if I minimize then maximize the Bridge window.  Seems to me that there must be something within that JPEG that is being interpreted differently in different circumstances that results in the "two versions" displayed within the same application (Bridge) on the same screen at the same time, and that other apps are interpreting one way or the other.
    Message was edited by: BoaMorph1
Exploring a bit further, I've realized that the same color display issue exists with the original JPEGs from my camera (Canon T1i, shooting in sRGB color space).  So it seems the issue did not originate with settings etc. in Photoshop.... but Photoshop (Bridge) IS displaying "two versions" on same screen at same time, and so must be doing something different with the JPEG info in one pane vs. the other.

  • A color problem in Apple's publishing App

I was wondering if you could help me with this problem,I really need some help, and here it is:
There is a Color problem in Mac publishing applications like Pages and Keynote, including iBooks Author, which really confuse me a lot。
When you use a certain color space(sRGB IEC61966-2.1 in this case)to create some colors with Apps like Illustrator CS6,Indesign CS6 & Photoshop CS6 etc. ,they look totally fine。BUT when you use iBooks Author (V2.0)to create the very same color with the very same color space, colors still look fine in the color panel, and here comes the problem:they look totally lousy in the actual document!!In fact, they look much lighter and faded。(See Image 1&2)
    Above:Image 1
    Above:Image 2
And this is also terrible with photos you import。(See Image 3)
    Above:Image 3
Please tell me what I can do to solve this problem。I know maybe this is some sort of “basic” and “general” knowledge, but I really need your help。And I can't thank you enough if you can provide some effective solutions。

As far as I can see,  the colour pallet and how colours are seen in any app on YOUR machine will depend on the computers System Preferences>Displays>Colour - choose your preferred setting.
I suggest first that you ensure that your colour profile settings are the same ( as your computer)  in whatever Adobe application or in fact any outside image processor you use.
Creating or using a colour profile in Adobe and having a different profile on your system - will tend  to  give different colour hues.
A point also to remember is whatever you set up and is  transferred to your product... when seen on an iPad may well be totally different again due to peculiarities and contrast / brighness setting of the iPad user.

  • Sending image to my big screen TV with Winows running on my MacBook

    Greetings from RJ - Brazil!
I'm a newcomer to the MacBook and I'm having trouble sending my desktop image to my big screen TV when running Windows (Bootcamp partition). With MacOSX there is no problem at all, just connecting the DVI -HDMI cable and success! But with Windows...I've tried to change the keyboard configuration (disabling the default MacBook F1 to F12) and trying the default keys Function + F3 or F4 and nothing...
Anyone had this same problem? Need some help here! Thank you, kind regards, Jacques (jchueke)

There were seven MBPs produced in mid 2009 and mid 2010, including three different sizes, 13", 15" and 17". None of them were late 2009 or early 2010, so it's still impossible to know which MBP you have. A model identifier would be helpful.
Are these the adapters you have? Does one fit correctly into the MBP the way it's supposed to? And the other fit correctly into that adapter and have a RCA video jack (normally yellow)?

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9267G/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
Plug an RCA cable (normally yellow) into the video jack on the adapter, and into the yellow on the front of the TV.
Plug a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to RCA jacks adapter into the audio out jack of your MBP. Plug a red and a white RCA cable from that adapter into the red and white ports right next to the yellow port. Select that input on your TV.
Go to System Preferences > Displays and see if the TV is being recognized. Select Mirroring. You may have to select a different resolution. I don't know if you have a MBP with dual GPUs and you have to select the proper one.
See if this gets you anywhere and post back with more information.
