Image Fade! - doesnt want to fade!
Hi all,
Hope someone can help me.
I have found a piece of code from Codelifter.com (

enabling me to have a images fading on top of each other in a
slideshow effect. However, somewhere down the line when placing in
the code, i have obviously gone wrong because the first picture
fades out but the others then do not fade in.
Does this part of the code below look wrong to anyone or does
anyone know why it may not be working!

If Crossfade is OFF, the fadeout is actually part of the recording, so you won't be able to change how it fades.
If you want to make the silence (gap) between songs longer, there is only one setting I know of that relates to the gap between songs, and it is in iTunes.
Do a Get Info on a song in iTunes (File -> Get Info OR Cmd-I from keyboard) and go to the Options tab in the Info window. There is a setting called Part of gapless album. If that checkbox is checked, the songs are played with no gap.
I don't know of any other setting in iTunes or the iPod that makes the gap between songs longer. -
I want to fade music in and then out
I've successfully added audio portions to the slideshow but I need more control over the start and stop point and would love to fade the music in and out instead of just abruptly start and stop during the slides.. Is there a way to tweak the music clip and fade in and out?

iPhoto cannot manipulate sound, so if you want to fade in and out you need to use another app,

It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for. -
Adding video fade out or cross fade to specific spot in clip
I have a clip that has a visual glitch at the very end. I want to fade the video prior to the glitch but keep the audio. The glitch happens about 20 frames before end of clip. So I would like to just fade the visual keeping the audio intact, or just edit the video marrying the parts before and after glitch while maintaining the audio. So far I can't figure out how to place a transition at a specific spot in the timeline of a clip. I can only place them between different clips.

I think that Extract Audio was avail in iMovie 4. Use this (Advance menu/Extract Audio)
As to transitions
Put a black photo (.jpg) at very end - Now You can apply transition.

My 'recently added' playlist doesnt want to sync correctly on my iphone5
It's stuck and doesnt want to sync any new music i add.
It's not under Devices. You click on the name of your phone on the left side of iTunes, then to the right you will see a series of tabs that contain your sync settings, such as Summary, Info, etc. One of these is Music. Click on this tab heading and you will see Sync Music, with a checkbox next to it (see image below). Uncheck this setting and sync to delete all music from your phone. Re-check it and sync again to transfer your music back to your phone.

Image capture doesnt detect camera plugged in, why ?
HI all I only found out how good image capture was a few weeks ago when I wanted to backup ALL the photos on my iPad my MBP detected the iPad instantly
my mate plugs his camera into his MBP and image capture doesnt know it is there waiting for photos to be transferred, please someone why doesn't the camera get detected ?Well done that man, i should have seen that myself

Fade in, hold and fade out in CS5
Is it possible to make a fade in, hold and fade out one picture at time in InDesign CS5? I don't want to do a click-event to change object states. I want to set three different time-laps to animate one picture.

NOT cross fade...just FADE OUT
I am having a little trouble getting just a fade into at the beginning and/or fade out at the end.
it keeps changing the length of the clip or radically changing the length of the fade.
also looks like it puts in an entire fadein/out on things that I just want to fade out or just fade in.
need some help here.
I have tried everything I can (messing with length..placement...start/stops) of the trans and maybe I just dont get it but I am not a novice to editing. this thing is frustrating.Switch on the "Toggle Clips Overlay" button. (The zig zag button at the bottom left of the timeline window.
You can then use keyframes near the beginning and end of your video to drag the Opacity Line down to make a fade-in and a fade-out. -
JPEG/PSD issue--I open a jpeg and edit it (levels, crop) and then "save as" and the save as option shows there are now levels in the image and it wants to save it as a .psd file or a copy with layers. What am I doing that has these settings appear?
16bit? Pixels extending beyond the canvas? (from a crop with delete unused pixels turn off). Have you previously been saving PSD files?
IME you sometimes have to tell Photoshop that the first save of a session is JPG, and it remembers from there on. The way to 'tell' Photoshop that JPG, or PDF, or PNG etc are now your preferred format is to Ctrl (Cmd) click on that format in the Save As drop down list. So long as the file does not have parameters that your chosen format does not support, then this should work for you.
[EDIT] Just noticed that you did include 'Crop' in the subject line. Do you have 'Delete cropped pixels' checked? -

I am using Adobe Audition version 3.0
Is it possible to define a new function, so that i can select a short piece of the audio file within Edit View, so that the first 5 miliseconds (of the selected piece of audio) will be applied a Fade Out, and the last 5 miliseconds will be applied a Fade In, and in-between will be Amplified by -12dB.
I have to do this hundreds of times within a 1 hour recording of speech which has many short pauses, in order to remove small external noises between the words.
I normally select (one by one) the space/pause between the words and amplify this by -12 dB. Then i select the preceeding 5 miliseconds and apply a Fade Out. And the 5 miliseconds after the pause a Fade In.
I have only discovered today how to create short-cuts, so at least i have a short cut for the Amplify, Fade Out and Fade In.
But it would be great, if i could somehow define a function as i described above, to do all 3 steps within the one function.
Any help or tips appreciated.

You might be able to - but this is going to require quite a complex script that would need some serious editing by hand, and even then I'm not absolutely sure that it would work. The previous problem with this sort of script was that due to an 'anomaly' in the program, the - (minus) sign wouldn't work in a script, but I think that with the 3.0.1 patch, it does again. And even with this working, it's going to require some experimentation. Initially you need to refer to ryclark's method of entering absolute values which you will find here, and then you have to find a way to realise the whole operation a step at a time. You'd have to handle the fade out and the fade in separately, but where I think you might come considerably unstuck is trying to fade to -12dB for the middle section - that's probably the bit that would perhaps require slightly more than might actually be possible. I'd be quite happy to be proved wrong about that though!
I'm afraid that there's no documentation at all for the scripting language - this is something that Adobe, and Syntrillium before them, have never quite managed to provide, despite promising me some a while back. The good news though is that if you can make this work, then it's relatively straightforward to assign a shortcut key to it. But I should warn you now that this would be one hell of a script... -

Plug the iPhone in with the Wall Charger. Then while plugged in do the Reset again, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone Restarts. This usually begins to happen in less than 20 seconds time.
If you this does not work you can try to Restore the Firmware on your iPhone. If you decide to do this, connect your iPhone to your computer with iTunes open. Hold both the Home and Power buttons until the iPhone is detected by iTunes in Recovery Mode, this takes about 20 seconds time. Restore your iPhone.
If this does not work, you can try to Restore the Firmware on your iPhone in DFU Mode. Connect your iPhone to your computer with iTunes open. Hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release the Power Button and keep holding the Home Button until iTunes recognizes the iPhone in Recovery Mode, about 20 seconds more time. Restore the iPhone.
If this does not work and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take your iPhone to Apple for resolution of the problem. -
ps cs6 on mac. since installing yosemite, when working on an image if i want to change tool, via shortcut or wacom pen click, i now have to click on the image title bar, how can i fix this ?
@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
