Image Sequences in Flash?

Can image sequences be used in flash the same way they can be
in After Effects? If so which format should I use?

Maybe. Maybe not. I'm sure there are common points of usage
and things that are specific to one environment or the other.
Flash is able to import many formats. Personally I prefer to
use png format for the transparency.

    Hello,
I use LightWave 3D to create a set of characters that are
simple talking heads. Composited in Mirage and edited in VT4, it's
all bitmap images. You can see a sample here:
    Subversive
    Entertainment
That version was intended for TV but isn't going to sell. I'd
like to try it as an animated editorial cartoon embedded in a Flash
player at online newspapers. But when I compress the video it
doesn't convert as cleanly as I know a direct Flash file would. I'd
like to import the image sequences into Flash and converting them
to symbols(?) or movie clips(?) or(?)...
What would be the best way to handle the image sequences in
Flash? They are currently 180 frames long for each character, but I
could reduce the image sequence to as little as 60 frames. Once the
image sequence is converted to a set of symbols(?) they would be
    re-used over and over.
I imported a 180 frame image sequence and it put one image on
each frame in the Flash timeline. How would I convert that entire
image seqence to a sequence of symbols(?) that I could re-use. When
I exported it as a movie it made a .swf file that looks great but I
don't think that's what I want to work with within Flash. (I'll
create a differnt background in FLash as well.)
    Whew,
    Hope this made sense.

after importing, select the entire range of keyframes
    containing your image sequence. Right-click
over them and select COPY FRAMES.
Open Library and create a new symbol.
PASTE FRAMES into frame 1 of this new symbol.
On main timeline create a new layer (delete original layer)
and drg instance of your new symbol to
it. Now you have a nested animation that can be reused.

  • Large image sequences in Flash - How to reduce memory usage?

So I'm trying to publish a looping animation in Flash with a large amount of image sequences in it. (around 3000 frames all told). And I'm having problems with the swf using too much memory when it's played.
The swf is about 80mb, but the file uses an excess of 2gb of ram when played. I don't know why that would be. A memory leak?
My understanding is: that Flash will just load all images in a swf into memory unless you dump the memory somehow. Can anyone explain how to do this? Is it possible? I can't seem to find a solution online.
    Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I think I was being just overly ambitious trying to get this to play in swf form on sub 4gb ram machines. I've resorted to external video.

  • Export image sequence from Flash

    Hello,
I made an short animation in flash (Only about 3 seconds) and I am wondering if there is a way to export the animation as an image sequece. I could've sworn I've done it before but I can't find any information on how to do it. If anyone can give me information on if this is possible and if so how to do it I'de appreciate it. I am using Flash CS3, and I just need to get the animation exported as individual images.

yeah i get the idea of guide layers and how useful they are. just dont  want all my rough layers visible when i export an image from flash.. my point being you never had to hide guide layers before publishing on old versions of flash which i think makes more sense.. why would you ever want to see a guide layer on a published image?? anyway, i discovered this only happens when using actionscript 3.0 but not 2.0 so, ive gone back to 2.0

  • Flash audio out of sync even as image sequence in Premeire Pro

I'm using Flash CS4 to animate hi-def music videos. It seems that I can't keep the audio to stay in sync for anything over 2 or 3 minutes.
    - I'm working a stage at 1280x720 and 30 fps
    - audio is streamed on a separate layer
    - mp3 publish settings are: stereo 128kbs
Inside the FLA file everything syncs perfect, but when it's published, everything drifts in the SWF and in everything else I've tried.
I've tried exporting image sequences and popping the sequences into premiere pro to match up with the original wave, and i've also put the swf file in a premiere pro project as well. Whether a SWF or an image sequence, it always lapses after 2 or 3 minutes.
I've asked the adobe portal folks and they sent me a link to a "dreamweaver" article...so my regard for their capicity is not high.
Anyone have any ideas? or am I doomed to never animate anything longer than 2 minutes in Flash?
The topper of it all is, I've used a friend's REAL OLD Flash MX and have not   had any problems.

no actually all the animation is smooth and plays fine. but in files longer than 2 or 3 minutes the action starts to happen later and later and later until i'm seeing the animation full seconds after the matching sound. this happens when source wavs are matched to published files inside premeire pro too. it doesn't matter the format...swf / mp4 / flv / mov...any encoding of the video matched to the source wav is the same result as the published swf.
it's as if there are more frames in the publish than in the FLA. i guess i could compare and contrast by doing some math and creating some traditional x-sheets and completely disregard the reference streaming audio in the FLA...but that would be a ton of work and disregard the convenience the technology is intended to provide. i guess i'll just continue editing together a bunch 1-2 minute publishes until i give adobe even more money in october...boo hiss.
thanks for your vigilance! i might just be out of luck

  • Flash CS5 Crashes During Image Sequence Import

    Hi,
I have a problem importing image sequences. I have an image sequence of 300 frames, 1280x720. They are JPEG images with a size of around 40kb per image, 11 MB in total. Usually it gets to around 270 frames telling from the status bar.
Sometimes I've managed to import all 300 frames. I've tried with totally different image sequences too. 100 images and even 200 is most of the time fine.
What could this be about? right now it's stopping me from working. Is Flash really this unstable? This can hardly be a performance issue.

How much RAM do you have?
Try a fresh reboot, don't open any apps except Flash (after windows finishes loading) and try your import.

  • Flash CS5 crashes when importing an image sequence

I am trying to compile an image sequence rendered from modeling software (550 frames). The images are approx. 120kb in size. So far I have only been able to import about 100 images at a time, but when I get to the third import flash crashes. I have adjusted clipboard size to 5000kb max and reduced undo's to 2.
This can't be a hardware problem because I'm running win 7 on a i7 machine with 6gb of ram. Any ideas?

This has always been an issue in Flash for a long time. Search the forum and you'll see. The best you can do is import in smaller batches (I'd recommend no more than 50 at a time).
Do you actually NEED to import a sequence of images? Any reason you're not using video?
FYI on a rig with 32GB RAM I can barely import 50 without needing to save to a new file, then import another 50. Also realize compressed size and actual size are different. If you want to see the actual memory footprint, open Photoshop, open an image and look at the bottom left where it tells you the actual memory required to display that image. For example a 39K JPG takes 225.0KB memory. A 360KB image takes 3.71MB RAM.

  • Export image sequence from AS flash file

    Hello:
I am new to flash I am using flash professional 8 and
publishing at version 6 (although I can publish to any version for
this issue). I am using ActionScript 2.0 and am animating objects
using code instead of tweens. I need to export the animation out as
separate frames. I need the image sequence from the flash to use in
other applications and other uses. If anyone has any idea on how to
do this I'd appreciate knowing. I'd prefer to not have to buy more
software of course but if that is the case and it is the best way
    let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

The latest Flash CC 2014 release has an export to SVG option, which exports the current frame as SVG. There is no direct way to export the entire animation as SVG sequence though.

  • How to import an image sequence in CS4

Hello!  I am working on a big project today and I'm importing images in by the hundreds.  Is there an easy way to import an image sequence into the timeline?  I remember there use to be with earlier versions of flash but I can't figure it out for CS4 - Luckily these images are named sequentially.  Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Ah that was the problem!  i needed to import to stage instead of library -facepalm- thank you so much!  you've just saved me hours and hours of work!  now if i can just get it to import to stage without flash crashing

  • QT Pro "Open Image Sequence" only grabs one image

    QuickTime Pro:
When I try to "Open Image Sequence" on a set of .png images, I don't get the request for a frame rate, and it only opens the first image.
(Actually, the frame rate request window may be flashing by quickly.)
I have the image files numbered sequentially.
Any ideas appreciated. On my previous laptop it worked fine !
    Thanks,
    David

    Hey there,
Your problem is rather strange, I have not had this problem myself. I open sequences all the time with no hassles. I just tested it now with .png files which you've used, no issue. I'm on QT 7.4.1.
I've also just updated to 7.4.5 on another Mac (G4, OSX 10.4.11), and it works fine. Have you asked around to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue?
If it was easy enough to down grade to 7.2, perhaps you could try re-installing QT 7.4. If it doesn't work, just go back to 7.2. Though... I don't want to be the blame for your loss of another Pro code!!
    Good luck.

  • Image Sequence Issue

I've got some large pictures I've been asked to make into a sequence and retain as much of their quality as possible, they will be used in a PDF plan report. I started with Flash but it couldn't handle the full size images (5184x3456 - 72dpi). I've moved over to Premiere but I'm getting something weird happening when I import them in as a numbered group. They import fine but only 1 image is being shown in the preview for the complete sequence and the sequence icon in the project is a jpg icon not the little movie film icon you normally get. Any idea what might be happening?
My sequence setting in Premiere is 5184x3456 10fps. There are 17 images and I want them to play about 3 seconds each.
    Thank you for your help,
    Jenna

Don't import as an Image Sequence.
Start by going into Preferences and change Default Still Duration to 3x your intended frame rate.  (3 x 24 fps = 72, or 3 x 30 fps = 90, etc.)  Then import all your images normally.  When you bring them to the sequence, they'll be 3 seconds long.

  • Image Sequence Bug?

I've never had a problem in the past importing image
sequences. However, in CS3, Flash no longer keyframes my sequence.
Instead, I noticed it put all the images ontop of each other in 1
    keyframe. What's going on!?

    nevermind, user error

  • PDF image sequence only shows first frame

Does anyone else have a problem with this? I am trying to make a simple looping two-frame vector animation. Without converting to video or pixels (I need this to stay flexible), what are my options?
I've tried making the layers turn on and off with a square oscillation, but I can't figure out the correct speed for on-one-frame-off-the-next :/
    Any tips?

Changed it to four digits and nothing. Previewing the image sequence in the browser shows the second frame as flashing white :/

  • Audio for image sequence

    Hi all -
I am doing some animation for a tv pilot and need to get the movie file into separate image sequence and audio files to import into my animation software. I was able to extract segments of the movie into image sequence, so that is no problem .... what i need to do is get the audio into a separate file. I tried sound to wav and ended up with a blank file.... i am using win xp .... any help would be appreciated.... thanks....

It "sounds" (no pun intended) like your source file is "muxed". This is the format of Flash and MPEG 1 or 2. QuickTime Pro can't export the audio portion of the file.
You'll need third party software to convert the file to QT formats (DV Stream is best).

  • Image Reel in Flash

    Hi
I have about 300 images to import into Flash and then place
them one after the other to create an image sequence so that when
    viewed, looks like a video.
Is there a quick an easy way of doing this other than
creating blank keyframes and inserting the individual images in
    each?
    Thanks in advance!
    - Melly

If you import 300 individual graphics, you're inevitably
going to wind up with a large SWF file that will take some time to
download and which will be extremely difficult to maintain if some
or all of the photos change.
So if the goal is to have them look like a video, use a
program that excels at that -- a video editor. Even Premiere
Elements (a cheaper consumer version of the pro Elements program)
would suffice to give you a good quality video. You could do image
adjustments, play with timings (vary the speed of playback during
different sequences), etc. much easier than you could with 300
    Flash frames or layers.
The key thing to keep in mind is that your last step will be
to convert the video to a Flash video format, FLV. That way, you
can create a lightweight SWF file with the Flash video component,
and reference the external FLV. The SWF would download quickly, and
the FLV will begin to play rather quickly - the whole thing doesn't
have to download because FLV can do progressive streaming.
It's all about choosing the right tool for optimal results.
If you want a video, use a video editor. And Flash video will be an
excellent delivery mechanism for the final product on the web.
