Imaging using packages, in specific Microsoft Office?

Howdy,
I have been doing the monolithic style of imaging for 5 years now. I like the package based stuff that I am currently working on as its a lot easier to add updates and notify users. I have a question tho as to if anyone has been able to make a usable package from any Microsoft Office install media. I have not been able to yet and its the only thing hanging up my entire setup. For now Im continuing the monlithic avenue using netrestore image sets as it seems to be the most universal for all the hardware I have to support. I was using DeployStudio for the last 4 years but needed to maintain too many netboot sets, and versions to make it worth while. Started doing package based stuff in January using PackageMaker. If I could get this MO issue dealt with, I'm sure I could do the same with my Sophos install. If that could be done I'd be totally automated and could do just package based builds. Thanks

By using iZip Unarciver only I was able to open the disk, but not to run 2010.

You have two choices if you want to use Office:
1) purchase Mac: Office 2011
2) install Windows on your Mac and use the Office 2010 you own

Unless you install Windows on another partition using Bootcamp, or else install it in a virtual program like VMware Fusion or Parallels, you will need to purchase Office For Mac 2011.

Why can't i use installed fonts in microsoft office?

i downloaded and installed new fonts to font book and can use them in mac-based applications, but they do not show up in the font list in microsoft office. how can i get them to load in office? thanks!

Did you ever find a solution to this problem, I am experiencing the same thing! Need to use a font that is installed in fontbook, can see it in word. (Office 2004) Any help is apprecited.

Use Machine Translation with Microsoft.Office.TranslationServices

I have implemented custom translation for translate Text to another language and it works properly. Here I used "Microsoft.Office.TranslationServices.dll" and used its classes.
I have a scenario like this. Lets say I do not want to translate a selected words such as "Work Order". So there I've got a dictionary with the language and word. (Multidimensional Dictionary). So I want to pass that dictionary to the service and
need to map the words I've mapped there. Is it possible to do so using this "Microsoft.Office.TranslationServices"?

I am wondering if this has anything to do with having the user log into Excel.
In point #5 above: Under DCOM config, Microsoft Excel Application, if I modify the Identity tab to check on "This User" and enter the username/password to let Excel always run under that user. Then the application runs perfectly. However, other
users can't run the excel application on their own with the following error: "Cannot use object linking and embedding". If I check "Use the launching user", then Excel can't be launched. No errors in the logs or events anywhere to check.
Because running with the launching user proposes an user to run the Excel application. However, I do not think there is any where that we can pass in the password for this user to Excel. However, this Excel has all the permissions to Excel application as
well as the folders that have the Excel files.

Font problems using Adobe CS and Microsoft Office

I am having problems with using my installed fonts in software like Adobe CS and Microsoft Office. The fonts do not appear in the font lists of these programs, while they do appear in TextEdit (and in the Font Book).
I already did the following:
- disabling/enabling the fonts
- entering the save mode (cleaning the cache)
- cleaning the cache using a third party program (cannot recall the name)
- reinstalling OS X
Can somebody help me?

A little update.
Often when I boot my iMac and open for example Adobe Illustrator not every font (original and newly installed) show up in program's font list, but sometimes all fonts do appear.
So this is a very strange phenomenon.
Problem is that I am working on a design for which I need to use custom fonts, but I can't. I'm stuck!
So please, can anybody help me?

Empty Presentation Catalog using Oracle BI for Microsoft Office (Excel, PP)

Hi everyone,
after installed Oracle Business Intelligence for Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and configured according to this I only see an empty Presentation Catalog when I log on Excel or PowerPoint.
I've already see this thread and nothing seems to solve the problem.
Any ideas?

when I test my connection of Oracle BI for Office it says "Test connection successful", so I suppose there's no problem with connection or port.

I can't save emails using "Save As" in Microsoft Office 2011

I just installed Office 2011 and I'm trying to save emails in my docs. in Entourage, I would open the email, click FILE / SAVE AS and the email would save as a doc under the file / folder I noted. I'm unable to use "Save As" in Office 2011 for saving an emial becasue it is shadowed and not an option. Any thoughts?

Great. As a note, if you really need CMYK work in RGB and convert as last step. Be aware there is no exact color transfer process. Very few print shops require CMYK now.

It appears that you upgraded your computer to Mountain Lion and were using Microsoft Office 2004. In the short term, if you need to open and modify Word files, go to the file in the Finder and Control-Click on it. A menu will come up: go to Open With... and select TextEdit. This should allow you to open, modify and save the file for the short term.
You can do the same trick to open Microsoft Excel files in Preview and print them; but I do not think you can modify them in this way.
Workarounds for Microsoft Office 2004 since upgrading to Mountain Lion:
1. Upgrade to Microsoft Office 2011. This version works in Mountain Lion. However some of your legacy 2004 files may convert badly.
2. Restore the version of OS X that you were using before Mountain Lion.
3. Partition your hard drive and/or attach an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard on it and use the 'dual-boot' method of booting into Mountain Lion when you need it and booting into Snow Leopard when you need to run your PowerPC applications such as Microsoft Office 2004.
4. The method I use, which allows me to run my PowerPC applications concurrently with Lion: I installed Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7 in Lion:

MODI (Document Imaging OCR) in Microsoft Office 2010 and later.

What seriously possessed Microsoft developers to remove this feature when there are no other alternatives except to install an old Sharepoint designer. Tons of end users require OCR capabilities with scanned TIFF files. Why remove something
like this? I don't understand why they would make such a ridiculously stupid move like this.

Microsoft Office 2004 will not work on any Mac running Lion or Mountain Lion. You will need to upgrade to Office 2011, buy the less expensive iWork apps from the App Store or use a free office clone like OpenOffice or NeoOffice.

Why can't I use microsoft office anymore since I upgraded to Lion?

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and need to purchase iWork or Microsoft Office. Does iWork come with a form of powerpoint presentation? If so, is it easy to use and compatible with Microsoft Office presentation software? The latter question is extremely important as we use Microsoft Office primarily at the college.

Yes, Keynote is iWork's PowerPoint equivalent. You can save as a PowerPoint file as well. Very easy to use IMO.
