IMessage: Mac shown twice in forwarding settings

Hi,
Yosemite 10.10. / iOS 8.2
I had to reinstall Yosemite on one of my macs and restored my user data via setup assistant from a TimeMachine.
Since then I see the restored Mac twice in iMessage in the forwarding settings. The duplicate appears on all of my iOS devices.
Only one of the entries works however.
Is there a way to reset this / get rid of the duplicate entry?
Thanks!

When imessage is unavailable it sends it as SMS - that is normal see link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3529

  • Forwarding settings

One feature I sorely miss from my old Nokia is in the forwarding settings.
On the nokia, I could program the phone to forward if I wasn't available (phone off, away from towers) but not forward if I was on the network.
On the BB Pearl 8120, I have to manually turn forwarding on or off.  If I forget and the phone is in the car when I'm at my landline, missed calls go to voicemail.  If I forget and turn the phone off, missed calls go to voicemail.
If I forget to turn it on and am on the road, missed calls go to landline (and vm).
Doesn't seem like much of a problem?  I know, but my phone should work smart, and work for me.  So this kind of flexibility (or missing flexibility) is software-only.  I don't know if it is a feature I need to send to my carrier or to RIM.
    Steps involved:
    1) awaken phone
    2) select call log
    3) select BB button
    4) scroll to options
    5) click little white nipple marble
    6) scroll to Call Forwarding
    7) click little white nipple marble
    8) wait for network connection
    9) select 'do not forward/ph #'
    10) select back button
    11) click on 'save'
So... that procedure every time I need to toggle forwarding on or off?  It is more than a little thing.  Can we make this phone smarter?

    Yes, just as I typed.
Every time I want to turn on  ... or turn off...  the setting.  Each cycle once, twice, perhaps three times a day or more.
    Annoying for a 'smart' phone.

  • The router forgets Port Range Forward settings

Hello, after a year or so of working absolutely flawlessly, the router, all of a sudden, started forgetting the Port Range Forward settings.  In particular, I have port 80 set to go to a specific IP address.  Every now and then, it will start going to a different address within the network (even though the Port Range Forward page still shows it pointing to the right IP address).
I disable Port Forwarding for that port, then re-enable it and everything is fine.  For about day or two and then the problem re-appears.
    What could be the issue?
    Thanks.

What is the model no of the Router...?
    Who is your ISP...?
What firmware you are using on the router...?
Try to reset the router and re-configure it from scratch. Now,check if that make any difference.

  • Every itunes song is shown twice- not in itunes, but on macintosh HD

for example, one song is shown twice. when i click it and it shows where it is, one says:
    music folder-itunes-itunes music-nelly-wadsyaname single-wadsyaname
    the other:
    music foler-itunes-nelly-wadsyname single-wadsyaname
do i need both files, or is one the one i'm using and the other im not?

You one need one. By default iTunes will copy files to the ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/ folder when you import songs. Select the song in iTunes and do a Reveal in Finder (command-R). This will reveal the file you should keep.

  • Oultook work hours forwarding in Lync forwarding settings

    Hello Team,
    1. Just wanted to find out if there is a way to administratively manage the Oultook work hours forwarding in Lync forwarding settings.
    2. In Lync there is an option in forwarding setting which says "These settings will apply" all the time or outlook work hours.
    3. But in SEFAUtil, we cannot see a parameter to set that for a particular forwarding scenario (delegation etc)
    4. Have I missed something or is it only configurable using the Lync client ?
If it is only configurable using the lync client,
how do we manage EV migrations which requires customisation of outlook work hrs for migration groups. Asking users to perform these configuration is the only option??
    Please advise. Many thanks.

Sry i might misunderstand your question, but i thought it was to forward calls after workhour.Link you refer to is transport rules, dont think that will help.
What i mean is to login to mail.domain.com/owa as user you wish to create the rule.
Go to options - settings- other - phone and you will see this option
you will have to play with settings to fit your need.
Another rule you can set can be read here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335138(v=exchg.150).aspx
    and here : https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj898495(v=exchg.150).aspx

Hi can you help the sound is not working on my Mac I have went into settings and there are no option for interal speaker help

Read the documentation at the links.  They won't hurt your data.
Basically smc reset is shutdown, pull your plug for 15 seconds, plug it back in, wait 5 seconds, and reboot.  Harmless to you.  Resets the smc.
Pram reset is similar but you need to push commnd-option-P-R after the boot chime.  Read what does.

  • Tried unsuccessfully to restore my MBP, running the Mac OSX Lion, to factory settings. I keep getting the "can't download additional components for the Mac OSX Lion" error when reinstalling the OSX Lion. Any tips on how to resolve this problem?

Hello! Tried unsuccessfully to restore my MBP, running the Mac OSX Lion, to factory settings. I keep getting the "can't download additional components for the Mac OSX Lion" error when reinstalling the OSX Lion. Any tips on how to resolve this problem?

    Hi
Given that your answer to 1. is 'pre-installed' and 3. is 'No', I think the only thing to do is to take it to an Apple store (ideally the one you bought it from) and have them reinstall it for you.
The intended solution in cases like yours is that you should be able to reboot and install even a wiped disk by using Apple's servers over the internet (you do this by restarting with 'command-r' and choosing 'reinstall Lion'). However if this isn't working for you then you need to get the store to do it. Don't let them fob you off with 'go home and try again'. Have them do it in the shop (you're still covered by Applecare warranty so it should cost you nothing save the inconvenience of the trip and possibly leaving the machine there while they fix it).
A reinstall should leave all your own personal data and programs in place.
Note for future: when you get it fixed, first thing to do is buy a cheap external drive and start keeping a backup (either Time Machine or clone with Carbon Copy Cloner).

  • Do forwarding settings on BTYahoo survive the migr...

Hi there - can anyone who has already been "migrated" answer me 2 simple questions please? I haven't yet been migrated and am not looking forward to it - and I am quite experienced with the BT webmail and pop3/smtp systems over many years but at the moment they seem to be making it up as they go along.
I'm just getting ready to sort out our family email by setting up ways of avoiding being dependent on having to get access to  BTMail should it all go pear-shaped (why should I possibly think that...?).
    1. If I have forwarding (to a third party email provider) set up on my "myname"ATbtinternet.com address in BTYahoo settings, will the BTYahoo forwarding arrangement, to a 3rd party email provider address, survive the migration process or will I have to access the new BTMail web interface and set up forwarding again?
I'm expecting that I WILL have to set it up again and am just dreading discovering that I can't access the webmail interface after migration.
    2. I already have a MY BT ID and password associated with my phone/TV/billing/broadband (which uses my primary email address and a special MYBT password - different from my primary email password. With that I can access my billing information but not any emails.
When I log in to MY BT and click the Email button on the web page, at the moment, I then have to enter my normal BTYahoo address and password to get to the BTYahoo webmail interface. Fine. that's what I'm used to.
When the dreaded migration occurs, and I get the promised message to "change your password" - is it the "MY BT" password that I change, or the password for each and every email address in my account?
Will each email address get asked to change their password, or just me as the primary account holder?
Advice from someone who has "been there and done that" much appreciated - so I can then spare my family unnecessary pain...
    Thanks in advance.

Try this: Log into MyBT, and goto this link: https://www.bt.com/appsconsumeraccount/secure/manageEmailAccounts.do?siteArea=con.mya
Does it allow you to create a new email account? If yes, I would create a new account and start moving over some BTYahoo stuff like the disposable email addresses...
About the 'immigration' - for each email account migration, password is asked for to reclaim account from BTYahoo into BTMail - password change is optional, but I clicked on 'change password' and changed all mine (main account and sub-accounts) - changing the main account password in effect sync'ed it with BT ID password (i.e. same password for BT ID and main account). If 'deported' back to BTYahoo, use the old passwords.
Thanks dilosec - that's really helpful.
I already created a couple of new accounts the other day, so I would have2 new accounts to use as suggested by you over on https://community.bt.com/t5/Email/Disposable-addresses-on-BT-Mail/m-p/1330397#M24465. They are now sitting quietly waiting for the changeover, and have forwarding set up for now, in the hope they don't accumulate any content on the web interface.
As for the password explanation - THANKS - that is so much clearer than any of the official BT stuff I have read up to now - including the information about the password change not actually being compulsory, and about it being the individual passwords for the accounts and NOT the password for BT ID's.
Which "clever" person thought up the idea of getting everyone to change each email account password immediately on migration only to find out that it wouldn't work when they migrated us BACK again to Yahoo! People as clever as that ought to be promoted further up the organisation where they can do less harm...
Seems to me that if they had ignored that particular step until migration had occurred and was settled down and working, they could have avoided an awful lot of problems for customers. Then if they ever got the migration sorted, they could send us all an email a month or two later, and told us to change our passwords THEN.
It seems it would also make sense, in the midst of so much going wrong, to avoid all unnecessary changes - including the business of creating new BT IDs for family members etc. I understand why people want them, but it really would make sense to wait until everything else has settled down and been proven to work before messing about with BT IDs and BT ID passwords, as WELL as email passwords. How do people keep track of THAT lot, especially when they aren't always sure whether they are on BTYahoo, BT/OpenWave or back on BTYahoo again?
All I need to know now, is whether forwarding settings survive migration to WaveGoodbyeToYourEmail OpenWave

  • Airport Extreme removes port forward settings every reboot

I have set up various port forward settings on my Airport Extreme from OS X Server. However, every time I reboot the Airport, all port forward settings are lost except Contacts, Calendars, and DNS. It gets very troublesome to constantly readd all my settings in there. Port forwards are the only settings that are lost.
    Please help!

I found the issue – and it's fairly simple and obviously really.  I'm guessing you were adding the ports from OS X Server in the order they are listed within Server.app (where they are listed in alphabetical order).  After Calendar, Contacts and DNS is "File Sharing".
If this is enabled, whilst File Sharing is enabled on the AirPort Extreme, the port forwarding entry for File Sharing, and anything below is removed.
Simply disable "File Sharing" from AirPort Utility before continuing (as recommended by Server.app when setting up the service for File Sharing).
I understand you replaced your AE and no longer have the issue – I thought I'd leave the explanation should others encounter it.

  • I cannot activate imessage or facetime in the ipad settings

I have an ipad 4 running version 5.1.1 When I attempt to activate messages or facetime in settings the slide immediately reverts to the 'off' position. When I attempt to sign into imessage I receive a message telling me I can't sign in and to check the wifi connection. (The wifi connection is fine.) I assume this is because imessages haven't been activated in settings. Can anyone assist?

  • Album artwork shown twice on iPod Touch

The album artwork for a certain album is shown twice on my iPod Touch, with one song listed under one copy of the cover art and the rest of the album listed under another copy. This has happened once before on a different album as well. I checked the tag fields in iTunes and the only one was different, the genre field. I changed this, tried erasing the album from the iPod and re-syncing, but can't fix it. WTH?

Son of a...! I figured it out. One album name had "Of" in it and the rest had "of". What a pain...

  • Bound error message always shown twice?

In my project every input field is bound to its own message-component.
But if I start the project and the validator finds an error, all the error-messages are shown twice and I have no idea why! I checked the error-messages in the beans, there is everything ok.
Does anybody know how to solve the problem?
    Thanks!

    thanks for the feedback.

Your suggestion sounds quite good, but I can not imagine how this could work.
    You wrote:

    - verify the user-input after leaving the JTextfield via "pressing the TAB-key" (in other words loosing the focus) or
    - start a verification after "pressing ENTER-key".
I?m not sure, wether these needs are practical with your suggestion...Do you have any code example of your solution? So I can better understand your idea...

  • Nokia 5800 Call Forwarding settings

Just wondering if there is any way to customise the call forwarding settings on my Nokia 5800.  I would like to set the forward to voicemail if not answered setting, but the longest I can get the phone to ring before forwarding is 30 seconds.  This is often not long enough for me to answer the phone, for example if I can't find it, it's in a bag or I've left it upstairs. I had the same problem on my old 6300.
How can I set this to forward to voicemail after say a minute?  If this is not possible, where can I submit a feature request?

this is a network setting not a phone setting
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

Contact your carrier to make sure there's nothing wrong with your account.
Also, it may be worth going into Settings>General>Reset and choosing Reset Network Settings. You'll lose saved wifi passwords but you won't see any other changes. That may resolve the issue.
