IMovie '11 shutting down in Lion. Apple Tech gave me the FIX!!!

Lion hates a Codec in Quicktime. Trash the Codec, and the iMoive crashing is FIXED.
   Like this:
         Finder to "Go" to "Computer" to "Mac HD" to "Library" to "Quicktime" At the top of the Quicktime column you see "...3ivx Codec..."
    THROW THE 3ivx CODEC INTO THE TRASH.
   No more crashing of iMovie.
Period.

     Please understand, I was flying blind until I got the right Tech on the Apple Support line (phone). I had switched to Lion and everything seemed fine until I tried to use iMovie '11 on my MacBook Pro and iMac.
    After xxxxxxx gave me the Fix I described above, i had been on the phone with another Tech for thirty minutes. He had me doing a lot of basic checks, then realized he needed help, so he put me on with Ralph (aka "Steve")..
   Twenty seconds later all was right with IMovie and Lion.
   I told a couple of other friends who have Apple machines about this success, and they told me that they did not have that Codec, and that they were having NO trouble with iMovie and Lion.
Beyond that I can't help you if you are having other problems with Lion and iMovie.

my imovie app automatically shuts down - first thing that pops up is "The previous attempt to open this movie failed, do you want to ignore it? No Yes are my options. What ever I click, it still automatically closes imovie.

Welcome to the discussions.
Yes, you need to have enough drive space for iMovie to work. At least 25 GB free space is recommended. How much do you have? Are you creating iMovies on an external drive? If so, is it Mac-formatted?
Whenever iMovie acts up, it is a good idea to trash its preference file. Close iMovie. Go to YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist
If you also have iMovie 8 installed, be sure to locate the plist that is just imovie. iMovie 8's plist actually says 'imovie7'
Drag this plist to the trash. Reopen iMovie and see if it is better now.
You can also try repairing permissions on your drive, using Disk Utility.
If nothing helps, post back for more suggestions.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled CC twice with no avail and deleted every Adobe product on my computer and nothing is working.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?
I am running Yosemitie on a iMac.

While publishing a project in iMovie, iMovie uexpectedly shuts down. Why?

I've been having this problem with iMovie for a few months now, all of a sudden something has happened to my iMovie. It seems to happen only when I insert Picture In Picture option(s) in a slideshow. When exporting the completed Project to Quicktime it crashes. This also happens if I try to Finalize the Project or Share the Project via Vimeo or YouTube. There are a lot of folks out there experiencing this problem, some are finding solutions - I'm not.

You may have to restore your phone to correct the problem.

My MAC mini looses the wi-fi connection to a Belkin N wireless router when it goes to sleep or shut down. I have to re select the network when restarting or waking the computer up. I think this just started with Lion. My iPod and iPad have no trouble.

Thank you BGreg. That is what I have been doing, and then it works just fine. I think it was doing the same thing in the previous version of Lion. I may be incorrect about that. I upgraded to 10.7.3 a few weeks ago, and then last week I reloaded the combo update, hoping it would help. Not so. Thank you for letting me know it is a common problem. I have tried permissions in Disk Utilities, and in Macaroni, both at least 4 times, plus numerous restarts. Nothing Improves. It still can not find the internet when it wakes up or gets up.

It seems like your logic board is damaged. As your computer is in warranty, you will get your MacBook repaired for free if you take it to an Apple Store or reseller. Furthermore, you may receive a new MacBook

I am having a problem. My macbook pro shuts down OSX and all my programs when the lid is closed. I close the lid, and then I hear the shutdown music and then when I open it again it automatically restarts OSX and all my windows and programs are closed, any info gone.
This doesn't happen all the time. Just once a day or maybe twice a day. It seems like it happens basically when I have my computer just the way I want it, to keep an eye on things for the day.
I just recently switched to a mac and while somewhat savvy, I am not a programmer or techie, but it seems to me that when I shut the lid, it should do the same thing every time.
I have a intel core 2 duo 17 inch macbook pro with 2.33 processr and 2 gig ram, if that helps.
I am in alaska and there is no genius bar here and I am hoping to figure this out before I begin bugging our local independant mac store about this.

That would make sense. What I usually do, after closing the lid, is to wait for the apple to turn off and then set it down on it's side leaning it against the side table. I will try to wait for it to indicate that it is fully asleep before I move it next time. Personally, I prefer my computer to NOT fall asleep at all, but I am told it is not an option. Apparently this function is hardware related accoring to my local mac shop. They tracked it down for me because I hated this feature when I first bought my computer and was trying some way around it.
The shutdown music I was refering to was that music the mac makes when shutting down, which doesnt usually occur when it goes to sleep, unless it is malfunctioning like this.
What does resetting the pmu do? (what is a pmu as well?)

You don't even say what platform you are on, or any other details that may help others assist you.
If you are on a Mac, try opening your file in GraphicConverter (they have a demo version) if that doesn't open it, nothing will, in my experience.
I assume you have tried Adobe Illustrator already to recover.
You may also have a JPEG of your complete file (flattened) in Bridge Cache.
On the Mac you'd find it in your User ~Library (NOT the Root Library ):
Users > yourname > Library > Caches > Adobe > Bridge CS6 > Cache > 1024 > jpg(fileID)number Filename.psd.jpg
The user ~Library is hidden, but you can make it visible for an moment or two. Ask Apple if you don't know how.
