Implement LDAP with OBIEE?

I'm developing an externally-accessible, somewhat-customized, site based on the OBIEE Dashboard product, running on Apache on a Linux server. To date, I've been creating user accounts within the Adminstration tool and assigning them passwords. This is cumbersome for me to maintain, however, plus it doesn't allow users to define their own passwords. Although there is an Active Directory infrastructure in-house, the users of my product are not employees; they're customers--therefore, I'd like to set up my own directory to manage users and passwords.
Can anyone suggest how I should proceed? I'm not averse to setting up an LDAP server (perhaps Open LDAP) but I'm not sure how to integrate it with my dashboard site. Or is there another, low-cost, solution?

Apache means a lot of things, generally speaking it's the software foundation behind many open source projects. If you say you are using Apache most people will think you are using Apache HTTP server which is not compatible with OBIEE as it needs a J2EE Web App server. Most likely you are using Apache Tomcat or simply Tomcat as the Apache preffix adds confussion.
Now to your question. I wouldn't suggest to use LDAP, too much overhead for what you want. You should be OK with External Table Authentication:

Is configuration of SSO in OBIEE 11g similar to that of OBIEE 10.1.3 ? (10g steps mentioned below)
1. Changing Instanceconfig.xml
2. Adding a user “Impersonate ” in Repository
3. Adding Impersonate user Credentials to Credential Store using cryptotools
4. Add Credential Store information to Instanceconfig .xml file
Are there any additional configurations required to be related to weblogic integration with OBI?

What sort of SSO setup are you looking to implement? The security model in 11g is much more complex and unfortunatelly it's all in Weblogic. I don't think that was a good idea but Oracle it's obviously pushing to use all of its products into OBIEE.
On the positive side OBIEE 11g now supports configuring authentication and SSO with Active Directory and Windows Native Authentication using Kerberos (the next generation authentication protocol after NTLM). This SSO solution is sometimes called "silent SSO" as does not require domain authenticated users to login to OBIEE and it's completely transparent. In view it's the "real and proper" SSO solution as it's server side and it's unspoofable. Oracle Support Note ID 1274953.1 provides guidance on how to do that. The configuration process is complex but it provides a way to use Windows Native Authentication out-of-the-box in OBIEE 11g without having to rely on custom/3er party components or any additional license costs.

Integrating Active Directory LDAP in OBIEE 11g

I Have Configured Active Directory LDAP in OBIEE.
Steps i have Followed are,
1) configured Active Directory in providers under Scurity Releam.
2) Restarted BI Services to Load the Ldap Users.
3) login to the EM under bifoundation domain selected securitues->security configuration provider.created user.login.attr and username.attr.
4) under Credentials->oracle.bi.system map->system.user->deleted BISystemUser and Created key with the Existing name in Active Directory.
5) assigned System user to BISystem role in em.
6) in Console Roles and Polocies->Global Roles->Roles->Admin->view Role Condition (User = Active Directory User or Group=Administrators).
7) Restarted BI Server and Presentation Services.
Now I am Unable to Login to Presentation Services.
Please Reply ASAP.

Kiran, Is there a specific reason for using RPD for LDAP authentication? From 11g onwards, the best practice is to use Weblogic (or external Authentication providers). Is it correct to say that for "Authentication' without proper RPD LDAP config for "USER" variable, users cannot login via presentation layer?

Set-up LDAP with Essbase

Hi,
You should still be able to do it, there is a css_config.xml in the essbase bin directory, you will need to update that with the ldap details.
Also in the bin directory there will be an essbase.cfg file, you will need to CSS line to point to the xml file you have just updated.
AuthenticationModule CSS <add full path and xml file>
If you restart essbase and have configured correctly you should see :- Single Sign-On Initialization Succeeded !
I think you will also need to update an EAS properties file, OlapAdmin.properties is located in the eas\server directory
Update the SECURITY_CONFIGURATION line to point to the xml file e.g. on windows it would be something like
SECURITY_CONFIGURATION=file://c:/Hyperion/AnalyticServices/bin/css_config.xml

Hi,
it seems to be a JRE Problem. When I use the Kerberos implementation from "Vintela Single Sign-On for Java" I can establish a "aes256" secured LDAP connection to the AD Server.
This LDAP connection allows to change the passwords of the users stored in the AD.
The problem is that "Vintela Single Sign-On for Java" is not free, so it would be nice to have a solution which works with the Kerberos implementation of the JRE.
The error is the same for "aes128" and "aes256" encryption.
And with Wireshark I can not see any differences in the packets send to the AD and received from the AD.

How do I use LDAP with iMQ 2.0?

I am looking for an example to see how to use LDAP with iMQ 2.0.
I was able to set up the config settings to access a local LDAP,
but iMQ authentication still rejects valid logins.
Let me know if I can find more info someplace.

I have one report in which now customer name is changed. i want to show the old customer name as well new customer name for that customer ID in the report.
ex: Customer ID Name

Now the customer name changed to B for ID 1
So new report is

I have lot of customer...
So please suggest me how can i implement it in OBIEE..

I guess that in your situation the value 'A' changes to 'B' once changed and you want to see the historical view of the customer changes?
In that case you are implementing a slowly changing dimension. You'll have to change your underlaying table, I guess that would be the easiest solution.
Implementing a scd can be done in different ways...it depends on what you need exactly.

1. I am now working with OFA, I Have working knowledge with OBIEE. Need some suggesstion Will it be possible to replace the OFA with OBIEE. If possible then how?
2. As OFA is not supported by Oracle anymore, I need to migrate to OBIEE. How is it possible.
3. I need some some suggession and upto what extend OBIEE can work like as OFA.
4. We do forecasting in the OFA for items and volumes. Will this be possible using OBIEE?
