Implication on batch setup

Hi,
I am wondering if there is any implication to the following.
Presently we have a batch class setup in our Asia Pacific region (let say this batch class is called A, and it has 5 characteristics), and we plan to roll out one project to one of our plant in one country. However, there is a requirement to setup a new batch class with different specification (hence, we call it batch class B and it has 12 characteristics associate with it).
Background:
This plant does have interplant business transaction with other plants which are using batch class A
This plant sharing the material master with other plants.
Questions:
1 - If we decide to endorse the idea of using this batch class B for this new plant rollout, may I know if there is any implication, in term of system setup conflict, or business process in term of batch classification?
2 - Would it be better that this new plant use the batch class A which every plants in the region are using Or continue to use batch class B?
Thanks
Tuff

Please consider OSS note 115581 (No multiple classification for batches) before designing a new class.

  • Copy the from am unsaved goods receipt PO udf  into a batches setup

I am trying to copy the value from a from a goods receipt PO udf  that is not yet saved into a batches setup screen through a formatted search . The batches setup  opens when i press the add button in the goods receipt PO because the item uses batch numbers. Because the goods receipt PO is not the current screen, I cannot use variables. Any idea?

I had exactly the same requirement and this is how I solved it.
You will not be able to use a formatted search as the context window when the batches / serial window opens is different and the field from the GR PO are not available.
You need to create a temp table and write a formatted search to insert the value that you want to carry to the Bacth screen from the GR PO on the refresh of the Item Name or whatever in your case.  (If you give me the exact details I can give you the steps)
Once you open the Batch screen the Goods Receipt PO number is available on the top which you can use as referesh to fetch the data from the temp table.
One more important NOTE:  As you know the Goods Receipt No can be the same for more than one user because SBO gives you the next available number.  To get the record exactly pertaining to that user, when writing the data from GR PO you should also insert the $[USER] value which identifies the user.  You may compare this when fetching the data from the temp table on the Batch screen.
Let me know if you need further direction or help

  • To bring the udf in GRPO to batch setup

    hi,
In GRPO i like to bring the value displayed in UDF field to the existing field in batch setup window (which will be displayed whil pressing ctrl + tab in quantity column.) in runtime.can anyone help me!!!

    Hi
You can't do this using 'Formatted Search Queries' as both the forms are different.
We have done some like this:
We had a UDF called 'U_SerialNo' in A/R Invoice. We wanted to Copy the SerialNo from the SerialNumber screen to the A/R Invoice.
We did this using the 'SP_TransactionNotification' stored procedure.
Your requirement is almost same. I feel you can try out this Stored Procedure.

  • IDS vs Batch Setup

    Hi,
We have a scenario wherein we produce Outputs only in On-demand mode - one policy per extract coming in from the Upstream online. We do not have any batch cycle need. Currently the Documaker System is setup in 11.3 Batch mode and not with IDS. Whenever a policy comes in, the extract file will be sent to server thru ftp and this triggers multi-step DAP EXEs for processing.
What I feel is, this is not a scalable one. And, setting up an IDS v2.2 with a single step processing would be the apt solution. But I don't have any facts given about this in the Oracle Rule book or IDS Hand book. Can some one correct me if I am wrong. or provide me some technical details to substantiate my analysis.
    Thank you.

Thank you so much for the quick reply Andy.
I understand that IDS solution is scalable. My question is setting up Documaker in batch mode for processing one transaction per file that too to process on-demand request: Is that a scalable solution?
Thanks so much.Running Documaker in batch mode to process a single extract is technically scalable, but only vertically. You could add copies of Documaker and create separate directories and INI files etc so that each instance of Documaker does not interfere with each other, and then you could have some sort of process that distributes the single extracts to each instance of Documaker using some sort of round-robin algorithm, and then you could try to figure out which instance processed a job when you have to troubleshoot, and then you have to worry about distributing changes to INI files etc when updates are necessary....
Yes, you could do all of that, or you could hitch Documaker up to IDS and then it scales automatically both vertically and horizontally, and doesn't require all that mess of configuration. Yes, there is some configuration, but it's all straight-forward, documented, and best of all, time-tested. IDS/RP batch-of-one solutions have been around for quite a few years and there are many large operations running this way. You'll find it the best solution for batch-of-one, that is, until you get to Documaker Enterprise Edition (12.0) and the Document Factory. That, by far, is the pinnacle of document processing, IMO. (Yes, I'm biased because I'm on the development team).

  • Batch setup of multiple managed accounts in OsX SL client?

I would like to generate 100 managed accounts on a machine running OsX Snow Leopard client. I don't have OsX server. Is there any way to create accounts by importing them into Snow Leopard? I could generate account credentials (with random passwords) externally and then import them for best effect - but I can't see to find if there is a way to do this in SL. Any observations or advise? • How do I setup ADE: multiple users / multiple devices

    Hi,
I'm new to this DRM stuff and totally confused as to how it works, and the implications of different setups. I've seen lots of posts suggesting if ADE is not setup correctly from the start, you end up with a cascade of problems trying to correct the installation, and having to play around in the registry.
As I understand it, ADE is a download client, encrypter/decrypter process, a transfer client, and a book renderer.
Although I've never done this, I guess what I want is the sort of setup you would have at an internet cafe. Someone can bring in their reader (already registered with their home computer). Go online, buy a book, use their Adobe Id to download the e-book (?) and transfer it to their reader. And read it.
I'm not sure about which parts of the Authorization/Registration/Encryption process are linked to each other.
I have read that ADE does not write anything to the e-reader during registration. But rather reads the serial number of the e-reader to identify it. Presumably ADE re-encrypts the book using the devices serial number when it transfers the book to the e-reader. So, according to the post, there is no problem having an  e-reader registered to many installations of ADE.
Similarly I've read that authorization is only required to establish your rights to download the encrypted book.
However, I've also seen posts that contradict these.
Also I've seen that as the book is encrypted for a specific reader only during transfer, you can't use explorer to copy books onto the reader.
    cheers,
    matt
ps. I've got a KoboGlo, I'm not from Kobo. I couldn't find a moniker, They were all taken and out of frustration used my reader as a moniker. And now I'm stuck with it.

    anybody, any idea ?

  • How can I eliminate duplicate Batch Numbers?

SBO allows serial numbers to be unique, but not batch numbers. The system allows the same batch number to be used for a different part. I have a medical company that requires unique Batch numbers accross the board, regardless of part number. Any suggestions? I tried to do this with a formatted search that would identify a duplicate Batch for me, but my search crashed and burned.
Here is the Formatted Search I tried to connect to the Batches Setup Form:
    SELECT 'Batch allready used!' FROM IBT1 T0 WHERE T0.[BatchNum] = $[$3.3.0]
Anyone out there know how to force unique batch numbers?
    Thanks!
    Mike
Edited by: Mike White on May 7, 2008 7:07 PM

What I am saying is, I never want a duplicate Batch number even if the parts are different. In your example, Item A could not have the same Batch number as Item B. Unfortinately, SBO allows duplicate batch numbers as long as the part numbers are different.
The reason for this is two fold. 1) This medical company cannot, never have the same batch number, and 2) reporting from the OIBT and IBT1 tables gets a bit complicated with duplicate batch numbers.
So my thought is to simply create a formatted search which runs from the Batches Setup Form, checking to see if this Batch Number has allready been used, then replacing the entry if TRUE with something like "Batch Allready Assinged".

    Hi there,
my customer controls the stock they manufacture with batch numbers.
The customer wants the due date of the production order to be inserted in the manufacturing date field on the batches setup screen  when completing the production order.
I have tried without any luck...can someone please help me with this...
    thank you
    Kind regards

    Hi Ashis
I am aware of the function of maintaining batches, but this happens after the production process has been completed.
I need to populate the manufacturing date during the production process...
e.g. Production has been completed, the user opens a receipt from production and selects the production order, when adding the receipt from production the batch setup screen appears and the user can complete the batch details for the item manufactured, on this screen they want the manufacturing date to be populated automatically from the Production order due date...
I will try to use UDF's to see if it works...

  • Formatted search to update Batch attribute to match row project code

We have extented project codes to the batch level by creading a UDF OIBT.U_ProjectCode.
Is it possible to create a formatted search in the "Batch Setup " window to update this UDF with the project code from the corresponding row of the purchase order? Keep in mind not all rows on the purchase order may be tracked by batches.

    Hi,
Formatted search can only get value from database or current form. There is no access to other open forms.

  • Help creating batch action, save as tiff

I'm not *getting* it, and have been trying for a couple hours. Please, what am I missing???
    Steps I've done;
Created a set called rit sq color balance
Created an action called color balance
Created an action called save and close, Saving as TIFF, Close
Should I not be able to run this sequence of adjusting the color, saving into the destination file as a tiff?
Each action works separately, but not together.

You need to add (just drag it like you might a layer) the save step of save and close action into the color balance action, making that action a two-step action (color balance, then save). Then your batch setup will run.
If you check the "override action save as" (which you've done), you should see the warning below. Since there are no save steps in your color balance action (right now they reside in the save and close action), no files are saved. If you don't see this warning, you might consider resetting all the warning dialogues in the general areas of the prefs.
This would all be less confusing if you actions weren't named the steps they call...

  • Auto Batch Creation Unique Fields

    Hi All,
I have created 2 UDFu2019s in Marketing Documents ie Attribute1 (32Char) and Attribute2 (32Char). I have made a PurchaseOrder of 6 row Items and entered values to the above UDFu2019s. Now I copy that PO to GoodsReceiptPO and all the data along with the UDF values get copied to GRPO.
In my 6 rows I have same item eg ABC repeated in 3 different random rows. This item is a Batch Management on every Transaction item. When I try to add the GRPO, a Batch setup Screen pops up, Onthis Screen on the upper matrix ie Rows from Documents Matrix you will find the 3 rows of the same Items. When you Click on Automatic Creation button, an Automatic Batch Creation Screen Opens. On this Screen you have 2 fields ie BatchAttribute1 and BatchAttribute2.
What I want is how do I pass the udf values of GRPO ie Attribute1 and Attribute2 value on this Automatic Batch Creation Screen. I am trying it to do with SDK but I cant get the reference of which ROWs Automatic Screen is Opened as all the 3 item are ABC and they are on different different rows in GRPO (say on row1 and row3 and row6) and all these rows have different different values in the UDFs. I need to put the respective values from GRPO to the Automatic Batch Creation Screen BatchAttribute1 and BatchAttribute2 fields.
I hope I am being able to explain you the entire scenario clear to you.
Which is the unique key which is hidden on the Automatic Batch Creation Screen which sap knows and we are unaware. For that reason I explained you the entire scenario. My question was just that sap should let me know which is that field in SAP that is storing and passing the DocNo and Line No of GRPO to the AUTO BATCH Creation Screen. This fields are not visible to us, so how do I get the reference of this field on Auto Batch Creation Field or is there any other field by which sap recognizes during the time of Auto batch Creation. Would really appreciate you kind support for the same.

    Dear Xiaodan AN,
Thanks for your suggestion, I tied it but doesnu2019t seem to work. I am on form no 65053 which is the Auto Batch Creation Screen and I need to copy the GRPO Attribute UDF into AutoBatchCreate Attribute Field as per my scenario given above.
Here is my code of Item Event,
    If pVal.FormType = "65053" and pVal.EventType = SAPbouiCOM.BoEventTypes.et_CLICK And pVal.ItemUID = "37" And pVal.BeforeAction = True Then
    CopyAttribute(pVal, BubbleEvent)
    End If
Public Sub CopyAttribute(ByRef pVal As SAPbouiCOM.ItemEvent, ByRef BubbleEvent As Boolean)
            Dim frmAutoBatchNo As SAPbouiCOM.Form
            frmAutoBatchNo = My_Application.Forms.GetForm("65053", 1)
            Dim rowno As String
            rowno = pVal.Row
    End Sub
As per your suggestion I tried to get the row of item event but for all the 3 items I am getting the same value of rowno = -1
Can you futher explain me with an code
