Import without SAPinst

Hi,
we would like to copy our BW (a NW 7.0 system on Oracle) from production to test as export/import method because we also need a db reorganization (in production we have delete several records). So in test system we would like only to delete database (so we leave sap bin file, rdbms bin file, ecc.). If we use SAPinst as system copy SAPinst woluld install the system from scratch... so is it possibile create database and load/import data? without a complete re-installation?
Regards.

Not in an "easy" way.
To preserve all your settings try the following:
- rename /usr/sap/<SID> to something else
- delete the target database and copy the database configuration to a safe place ($ORACLE_HOME/dbs/*, listener.ora, sqlnet.ora etc.)
- start sapinst and select to "start migration monitor manually"
- go on with the copy until sapinst stops and requests you to set up the migration monitor
- now rename the "new" /usr/sap/<SID> to something else and rename back your old /usr/sap/<SID>
- put back the init<SID>.ora, listener.ora and sqlnet.ora
- restart the database
- now configure the migration monitor and start the import

    Correct.
After that just select the new folder location in iTunes> Advanced settings.
    Incorrect.
    Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library and select the iTunes folder.
This will read the iTunes library.itl file in this folder and the library as it was previously will be opened.

  • Is there anyway to mark a photo in the camera roll as imported without importing

Is there anyway to mark a photo as imported without actuall importing the photo? Some of the wallpaper apps on the iPad copy the image to the camera roll so you can make the image your background. I don't want to delete the image as I may use it later. Everytime I connect my iPad to my mac it launches iPhoto and wants to import the camera roll.
Another option would be to move items to another photo album and delete them from the camera roll bit I haven't figured out how to do that either.
    Any suggestions would be great.

No - to have it imported you have to import it
why not import it and then delete it in iPhoto or ignore it

Is there a way for me to enable the opportunity import in addition to the typical Marketing Import without the full

Not at this time. I would recommend that you submit an enhancement request to CRM On Demand customer care.

Import photos without copying? I Have thousands of photos on a hard drive separate from my mac and i dont have enough space on my mac to copy them to. Any way to import without copying to the local hard drive?

Yes, but you might want to think carefully about it.
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing. The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
This is an attractive option for some users at face value, but it contains a significant number of issues that you might want to consider before making the decision to run a Referenced Library
    How to do it:
iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck the box at 'Copy items to the iPhoto Library'
Now when you import iPhoto makes an alias in the Library Package that points to the stored file. Note: iPhoto still creates a thumbnail of the image and it makes a Preview of edited photos inside the Library Package.
    Issues?
    1. You are responsible for file management. That's more work:
You must first move the files from your camera to the storage location before importing.
If you want to delete files then you must first trash them from iPhoto and then afterwards find them in your storage and trash them.
Thereafter, you cannot move the files on early versions of iPhoto at all, on iPhoto 08 and later you may move them on the same Volume or Disk. If you move them to a new volume or disk the aliases my break. If they are on an different volume and you move them the aliases will break.
    You cannot rename the files.
Migrating: moving to a new machine, moving the files to another disk are all a lot more complex.
    2. You gain no extra functionality from running a Referenced Library. Nothing. This is just storage. You still manage the files via iPhoto. You edit them with iPhoto or via iPhoto's External Editor setting, otherwise you're changes will not be available in iPhoto. You don't save  byte of storage space.
    3.  If you have the Library on one volume and the photos on another you if anything changes in the path to a file (Like if you upgrade your machine, move the files on the NAS or on to another one?) then the alias will break, and you'll have to repair it manually. For every photo in the Library. One at a time.
Why do you want to run a Referenced Library?
Because my photos won't fit on my HD?
You can run a Managed library from an external disk. Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
You're worried about accessing the files?
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

I am having problems importing some CDs into iTunes on a laptop with Windows 8. Most CDs import without problem. The ones I can't import can be imported into iTunes with Windows 7. Does anybody know why this problem is occurring?

First-off, this seems to be a general problem with 10.4 (across all the operating systems of which I am aware).  Unfortunately, I cannot provide a permanent solution but, if you need a quick fix, this will (hopefully) work for you.
For some inexplicable reason, iTunes no longer recognises standard Windows paths.  For example:
    Y:\Music\Buddy Holly\Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
The end result is that it will import a playlist with no content.
It will, however, recognise the equivalent Apple paths which look like this:
    file://localhost/Y:/Buddy Holly/Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
It is possible to convert your existing playlists using a few basic replace commands in something like Notepad.  In my case, I made some code changes in my music manager and now generate two sets of playslists (one standard and one to accommodate iTunes).
Forgive me foir stating the obvious but please remember to make sure that the disk / path containing your music is accessible when doing the import otherwise you will probably get a blank result.  Note that you can do a bulk import by selecting all the (revised) playlists and dragging them onto the iTunes sidebar.
I am sorry that this is not a "clean" solution but it will work if you are in a bind.  The only alternative of which I am aware is to wait for Apple to fix the problem.

  • SystemCopy DB2 LUW without sapinst ?

    Hi,
    it is possible to perform a systemcopy [ database - db6 ] without installing sap/using sapinst ?
With Oracle it is possible - sure you have to do some work after the restore -
So I couldn't find any useful hint to perform a systemcopy without usage of sapinst...
    can anybody help me?

Thanks a lot for your answer.
    @Paul:
R3LOAD is not our favourit so the system copy should be performed via redirect restore.
"628156 DB6: Cross-Platform System Copy using Backup/Restore" - did not solved my problem / I've to perform this system copy with sapinst too - see below:
    2. Start a regular homogenenous system copy on the target system using R3SETUP or SAPINST as described in the respective homogeneous system copy guide (depending on your SAP release).
"511323 DB6: brdb6brt -Installing the latest redirected restore tool"
    "867914 DB6: brdb6brt - Latest patch (currently 24)"
=> I don't understand how this tool could help me? By the way - it's already in use
"Chapter 9 of the Administration Guide:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f03d5fb8-b619-2b10-c383-c6d56872829e?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true"
Nice to know - really good but not really usable for this issue.
If I'll perform a redirect restore I have this to do in the way of the "normal" system copy - so start sapinst => [ sapinst will install the database ] and perform the redirect restore
    "http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/0308nesiem/0308nesiem.html"
I have read this article... not helpful
"You may also be interested in db2inidb
See note 594301" => interesting note - to speed up the backup procedure!
If you use Oracle - system copy - briefly:
    1) source sap system - create restore script
    2) target system - shutdown sap/oracle
    3) tsm - target system should connect to source tsm [ to get the right backup ]
    4) restore - without sapinst
    5) create db-user/rights
    6) start sap system + sm59, sm28 and so on
    I don't have seen this for a db2 luw database ...
here I have to use sapinst -  before I execute step 1)
thanks in advance for your help.

  • Linked Adobe Tagged Text files importing without styles

I have several data-heavy weekly publications where suddenly, the link to all Adobe Tagged Text format files have the proper paragraph styles and character styles stripped on being placed.  I'm aware of the default settings issue, where you deselect all and make sure the character styles is none, and that does not seem to be the issue. Specifics are
Working in CS 5 (Version 7.0.4)
The Adobe Tagged Text format files are exported from Excel spreadsheets
The InDesign documents have links to the Adobe Tagged Text format files, and Update Link is used inside InDesign to update the text when the file is exported from the spreadsheet.
When the publications are opened on my workstation, ALL files linked to Adobe Tagged Text files are not imported correctly, they revert to the Basic Paragraph style.
These are not new documents I'm designing or new Adobe Tagged Text files, this is part of a production process that has worked without issue for years.
When the same documents are opened on another workstation, and Update Links used, they come in perfectly, so it doesn't seem to be a document or file corruption problem, but a problem with my environment or ID settings.
It's not one specific document or file, it is every single document that has a link to an Adobe Tagged Text file (and we have lots, I tried several!)
I've opened the text files in the text editor to check them, but as I mentioned: same document, same files, I'm the only one who can't update without stripping out the styles.
    Thanks! Nancy

Hi, Peter! Thanks for the response. Yes, it's really Tagged Text. See below. After exporting from the spreadsheet and database, opening the document in InDesign, and selecting update link, we do no editing in InDesign after the fact because everything is already setup exactly as we want it with the Tagged Text format.
I have literally hundreds of these among several different documents, updated weekly, mainly dealing with prices and numbers. Every one of the links to Tagged Text format files in every publication now strips out the Tagged Text paragraph style and character style formatting on Update Link on my workstation only. On my other two workstations, the links update without issue, and everything is correct in the final document.
So I'm beginning to think I need to look at rebuilding something, maybe as Joel said, replacing preferences. I keep looking for a workstation or ID option that might effect this.

  • DigiBeta cilps importing without sound

I captured digibeta clips for a TVC at our animators studio in FCP 5 and then brought them on a hard drive to our production house where we're using FCP 4.5. I imported them into a new project using the 10-bit uncompressed codec (downloaded and tried to use the Blackmagic codec, but FCP wouldn't recognize it and it never appeared as an option) with audio set to 16-bit, 48 Khz Stereo. The problem is that instead of 4 tracks of audio, they're only coming in with 1 track, which happens to be blank. When I play the clips in Quicktime, the sound is there. And all four audio tracks were there when I clipped them out at the animators. But when I look at the item properties for these clips the "Audio" "Aud Rate" and "Aud Format" fields are all blank. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Marcel, what happened today was that I managed to get the Decklink codecs into FCP 4.5 by downloading the Decklink software (rather than just the codecs they post for people without a Decklink card). I then started a new project set to BlackMagic PAL 10-bit. I edited that setting and checked anamorphic 16:9. And then imported my digibeta clips. And, voila, same problem. 1 Channel of audio with nothing on it. And a squeezed 4:3 picture. I fixed the picture by checking "Anamorphic" in the Item Properties, but that hasn't given me the true 16:9 picture that we imported. Although it is anamorphic. Couldn't find a 16:9 setting in the Blackmagic codecs that wasn't HD.
So, still no sound and having to deal with a picture that isn't what we shot or what we clipped out at the animators. Any ideas on how to fix either of these issues? And thanks. We're really up against it here in freezing Shanghai.

  • Can I import without creating a project?

I imported a previously final-edited home video into iMovie, but it views it as a project and the clips are out of order. Is there a way to import the video "straight," i.e. not as a project and without added transitions etc. that iMovie might add, so I can burn DVDs?

Thank you, Appleman; even though a video neophyte, another "why didn't I think of that?" moment. Looks like I can do that, but is there a way to save it so I could make more copies later? Or perhaps a DVD duplicator would be easier. BTW, it was created in iMovie and copied back to the camera.

  • Importing WITHOUT copying/moving?

Is it possible to import existing video files without iMovie '08 copying or moving the video - I just want it to reference the existing footage in place? These are simple Quicktime DV files; I know it can play them without a transcode, but I don't want it to copy gigabytes, wasting time and space.
It seems to do this for any video in your iPhoto library, that stays in the iPhoto lib - why can't it do this for other random footage?
Among other things, I want to use the excellent video browsing facilities in the new iMovie just as a viewer for the family's video archive, it will be fantastic for this, but I don't want to have to duplicate hundreds of gigabytes of video into an iMovie library for no reason.

    Problem:
iMovie only lets you move or copy existing video clips into iMovie's Events folder.
    Solution:
    1. Quit iMovie
    2. Create a folder for each event you wish to import in the "iMovie Events" folder. (Either in your home directory or in the root of your external disk!).
    For example: /Volumes/BigVideoDisk/iMovie Events/Ski Trip/
    3. Create aliases for the clips you want to import into your event's folder. You can do this quickly by selecting all the existing clips and cmd-alt-dragging them into the appropriate event folder.
    4. Start iMovie
    Caveats:
    - messing around in application controlled directories is not a great idea
    - deleting the original clips will of course delete them from iMovie, but iMovie won't notice until you actually try to use the clip.
    Pleas to apple:
    1. please add a button to "use existing clips, where they are"
    2. please let the user define where the clip-libraries are located (ie: not just ~/Movies and at the top of an external disk)

  • PSE7: Naming scheme for import without spaces?

    Hi all,
just upgraded to photoshop elements 7 (from 2 :-) ) and have a question on the naming schemes available to put imported photos into subfolders named by date: The offered options in the drop down (Photo downloader - Create Subfolders by date) all include spaces between year month and day values. Up to now my format was yyyymmdd (all without spaces) and the newly created folders would not sort properly anymore.
So is there a way to have PSE7 create subfolders based on the date WITHOUT the spaces. I had a trial version of Lightroom 2 and there it is possible, however Lightroom is much to "big" for my needs.
    Thanks for any hints,
    Peter

Unfortunately, the options you get are the ones you see in the drop-down.

  • How to make SAP Instance on Windows without SAPinst (manually)

    Dear colleagues!
On unix platform It's usually more convenient for me to make an additional sap instance by manually copying of sapmnt, usr and a couple of others folders, making links, editing /etc/services. It's faster than running SAPINST (for me).
So the question is - how and what should I perform for making an instance, central instance as well on WINDOWS platform.
    with best regards,

    Hi,
It is not recommended way to install SAP System without following Standard Installation Method. Please read concerned Official SAP Installation Guide and follow the standard procedure without inviting more complexities and headache.
