Impossible to get answers from Verizon

I have just spent about 30 minutes online looking for answers to my questions - to no avail...
Then I spent 5 minutes pushing buttons and playing with the voice prompts waiting on someone who couldn't answer my questions.  His solution was to transfer me to an online group, after being on hold for 25 minutes I hung up so excuse me if it seems like I'm complaining.   I think I have the right to complain after all of that.
I saw on an email that coming soon to Verizon Call Assistant you'd be able to access call fowarding from it.
1) What is the expected time this will be available?
2) Is this going to be available in my area?  Can't get anyone in person with Verizon who seems to know anything about this
3) I've looked and search Verizon's website for a demo of Call Assistant but can't find one.
4) While looking for a demo I ended up at a Customize your services page.  It shows I have:
(check marked) "caller id with anonymous call block - included/removed"
and it shows
(unchecked) "Caller id (anonymous call block no included)"
These two things seems to contradict each other.
5) I'm also trying to find out if this change to being able to access call fowarding from the call assistant means we will also be able to access call fowarding from any phone number like the service with AT&T that's been around for 20 years.
CAN SOMEONE WITH VERIZON ADDRESS THESE AND OR CALL ME TO GET THIS STRAIGHTENED OUT?
I might be interested in changing my service but I can't get anyone with Verizon who knows or can tell me about this stuff.  And they wonder why we are all upset with them?!?
Thanks

Yep, customer service from any large company that tries to speed things up with an automated attendant can be challenging.  Most people on this forum are pretty helpful.  My attempt at helping is below.  Hope it helps.

1) What is the expected time this will be available? - We've seen that for a while now, so coming soon, is probably not what you and I would consider soon.
2) Is this going to be available in my area?  Can't get anyone in person with Verizon who seems to know anything about this.Because this is a 'switch based service', your switch must be compatible with the offer.  You can go to https://www22.verizon.com/ForyourHome/Registration/Reg/VCALogin.aspx?POEId=EM1SP&CMP=DMC-EML85 to see if you're eligible.
3) I've looked and search Verizon's website for a demo of Call Assistant but can't find one. There is a small, 'demo" on verizon.com/callassistant   You have to mouse over the 4 icons to see more details about the features.  There are also some links to user guides at the bottom right of the page that will give you more details.
4) While looking for a demo I ended up at a Customize your services page.  It shows I have:
(check marked) "caller id with anonymous call block - included/removed"
and it shows
(unchecked) "Caller id (anonymous call block no included)"
These two things seems to contradict each other. No idea what this page is.  SOunds like you are logged into your account management to be able to change/add services.  From what you have said here, it looks like you have callerid w/anonymous call block on your phone (becauise it is checked). And, it looks like if you want to turn off anonymous call block, then you check the other one.  Don't know for sure...just guessing because I have no idea where you are or how you got there.
5) I'm also trying to find out if this change to being able to access call fowarding from the call assistant means we will also be able to access call fowarding from any phone number like the service with AT&T that's been around for 20 years. It sounds like it. Call Assistant lets you look at your call logs and receive pop-ups (for non-mac users that is.    )whenever a call comes in.   Probably the same setup will let you access cal frowarding from the website or their PC (not mac-can you tell i'm not a Windows user?) program.

  • How to get answers from forum

    Hi,
Just wondering, how to get answer from forum.  Some time, for simple question, I don't see anybody replying.
Is there any other platform we get define answer or is there any support who can connect to our system suggest resolution?
    Thanks,

If it's really a simple question, then most people probably think the poster can get the answer from the documentation, or by searching the forum for previous answers.
However, most of the time, it's not that the question actually is simple. It's usually a question that is being asked simplistically, making it nearly impossible to answer (or often even understand). To get an effective response to a question, it needs to be the right question, asked in the right way.
Describe the the problem/requirement (not the attempted solutions) in detail:
    How to ask questions
Re: 2. How do I ask a question on the forums?
Include as much relevant information with the question as possible, starting with:
    APEX version
DB version, edition and host OS
Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener), server platform, and host OS
    Browser(s)/version(s) used
    UI/Theme
    Templates
Region type (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. To get a detailed answer then it's appropriate for the questioner to take on a significant part of the effort by reproducing the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which can then be seen at first hand in a real APEX environment.

  • Getting help from Verizon is maddening..........hope this message gets me an answer

I am not computer literate but I'll try to make sense.  Each time I log into my email acct. and delete messages, most delete but there is always one (or two) that will not.  This causes my email to freeze and therefore I must log out and log in again.  And I want to know why it is impossible to contact a live person to get answers or to email a tech????? I've tried everything  but nothing works.

This is something we will have to look at for you. I'm sorry to hear its causing such bad problems for you. I have sent you a private message to get more info from you.

  • Can't get a strait answer from Verizon on loyalty program

I've called Verizon several times regarding how best to get monthly charges more in line with the true value of the services.  It seems (like most companies) Verizon wants you to spend more and more each month on phones, plans, etc. but the value just isn't there.  I was paying $175/mo. for 2 phones and a 4GB plan with Verizon.  Does that make sense?  I've talked to no less than 5 Verizon reps and only 1 person has mentioned the loyalty program.  This is exactly what I've been looking for yet Verizon doesn't want folks to know about this.
So, here's the loyalty plan from Verizon:  for each line, you get 2GB of data plus unlimited voice and texts for $60/mo.  I suspect this also requires a contract.  I don't know how long you have to be with Verizon though I've been with them for 10 years.  Course there are the usual ancillary charges over/above this, i.e., taxes, insurance etc., but this is more in line with what I expect.
When I've discussed this plan with reps, there have been deliberate attempts to push me into plans with higher fees which is exactly what happened to me though I was told I would be able to recover $25/mo. from each phone as they were out of contract.  The net was the 10GB plan for $180/mo was going to be more like $130 for me.  Alas, that was incorrect information and I've since cancelled the new contract and went back to an older plan.  So, what's a consumer to do.  Wait.  Complain - complain loudly in fact.  This is unacceptable and loyalty and value should mean something.
I will update this thread as events unfold.  If you've experienced this same or similar issues with Verizon, please speak out.  A collective voice is much stronger than individuals.

This is certainly true, however a collective INFORMED voice is much stronger. People who fail to confirm/understand details of agreements which the sign and THEN complain about them is not all that strong.
The single line plan is just that, a single line plan. It is not a "loyalty" plan nor is it advertised as such. I believe there is still a "loyalty" plan which is not normally advertised which is unlimited talk/text and 1 GB of data for $50/month.

  • Cannot get email from Verizon servers thru Time Warner ISP

I've had Verizon for many years until a move took us to California where it was not an option in our area.  I purchased the email addresses from Verizon 3 years ago.  Everything has worked fine until 2 weeks ago when my wife and myself cannot access our emails anymore using our home network.  If we log onto any other network it works great.  I've called both Time Warner and Verizon (which is a customer service story in itself)  twice a day for two weeks and have gotten nowhere.  Each blames the other but I still don't have email.  I've changed my router to get another ip address with the same result.  I've performed traceroutes which have ended with a verizon server but I can't get anyone at verizon to tell me if it is the email server or not.  I've tried whitelisting the ip address.  I've tried removing and reinstalling the verizon email account in my Macbook.  Nothing works!   Lots of threads of people with the same problem but I can't find a soulution.  PLEASE HELP!!

    Hi Kameraman1,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. • How to get satisfaction from Verizon.

By now a few of you, very few actually have figured it out how to get from Verizon what you felt was satisfactory. In some cases like mine my wife and I exchanged our defective new Fascinates for brand new working Fascinates. Some of you prefer a different phone altogether and a tiny minority have been successful although based on what I have read you were given a used different phone. I am going to try to put together a do's and dont's that might help you wind up with a product that you may be happy with.
    Do:
I recommend starting  with the person that sold you the phone and 2 year extension, he took your money and got a commission, make him work for it.
Remember the only thing that matters is your phone will not receive phone calls and text messages, this is the most important function a phone must fulfill, it is worthless if it cannot reliably perform this basic task.
Be polite but firm, do not back down. You will be lied to in a variety of ways some unintentional some quite on purpose.
Always get the name of who you are dealing with and at the first no; escalate to the person they answer to, remember they will lie and tell you a supervisor is not available, this is a lie 98% of the time.
    Don't:
Try to resolve your problem on a Sunday.
There is no written policy on how any rep. will help you, so whatever you say ok to is all you will get.
Expect a phone number given here from someone that is satisfied will work for you, It will not, it is not the number that get's it done is what you say and how you say it.
Waste your time with the first person that answers the phone, they do not have the authority to really give you what you want.
Ok in conclusion keep this in mind, the reset's and the *228 don't fix anything you are wasting your time. If you have a phone that fails to receive calls the only thing that will fix it is a phone that works. Also if you are not good with words, you are passive or too nice, don't make the call yourself find a spouse, significant other or a good friend that you know can talk and verbally fight and won't back down.
    Good Luck friends.

Certainly the LG Voyager supports syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer?
With Wimdoze, the iPhone supports syncing contacts with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes or with the address book app used by Outlook Express or Windows Mail called Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only, and with the Address Book on a Mac.
You need to get the contacts from the Voyager into a supported address book on your computer - the contacts should already be available on your computer someplace. Not a good idea to depend on a cell phone alone for contacts, which can be lost or stolen or damaged by accident.

  • Can't get ip from verizon router to iMac over ethernet

I've got an MI424WR verizon router that is running wireless fine. I also have a Apple Airport Express connected to the Verizon router via ethernet that is running in bridge mode so I can have access to all of my other Apple wireless points and printers in my house. All of this works flawlessly over wireless.
If I plug my iMac into my ethernet cable and then attempt to plug into the back of the Verizon router, I can only get a self assigned IP address on my iMac over ethernet. I've tried many suggestions on the Mac side, from using a manual IP to trashing several prefence files in the system etc. I've also tried a factory reset on the Verizon router. Nothing is working to get the ethernet working to my iMac.
I'm beginning to think it could be a MAC address issue where the Verizon router is not passing or getting something from the iMac correctly, but I have not idea how to really dig into the Verizon router settings to check this out.
Verizon support is less that useless so I'm hoping some savy network folks out there may have some suggestions for me.
thanks for any help you can offer.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Finally a successfull update.
The crux of my problem was something to do with either the last upgrade to Yosemite or to how my Mac was loading startup items or both of these issues.
First, I confirmed that I could connect to the same ethernet cable with another Mac running one OS back from Yosemite. It connected instantly and the Verizon router passed it an ip address with no problem.
Next, I connected my iMac back to the ethernet and then booted my iMac into safemode and then made a new network location in the network prefs. I then turned off the wifi antennae and had the ethernet set to use DHCP. Renewing the DHCP lease still did not work, but once I rebooted again in safe mode with wifi still turned off, after about 5 minutes, the iMac was able to pull a working ip address from the verizon router.
All on the network side was working fine, but once I booted out of safe mode, my finder went into a horrific crash loop. After doing some cleaning of my system preferences and clearing out all startup items I am now back in business.
thanks to all who suggested ideas.

  • How do you get rintones from Verizon store...

why can"t i get ringtones for my phone from Verizon wireless website

        Hi typamih,
Customizing your phone with ringtones is so much fun! While many phones can purchase ringtones, not all of our phones are compatible with online purchases via My Verizon. What make and model phone do you have? What message do you get when trying to purchase a ringtone?

  • RFx Response - How to get answers from questions

    Hey,
I would like to know how to get the answers from questions ( by IAPI or table where they are stored ) and if i can manipulate them.
    Thanks!

    Hey,
well, about manipulating answers, because we need to perform some calculations on scripting that afterwards will be shown as an answer. But it is not mandatory, so i am not worried about it.
I already checked that table, but i didn't find the field which returns the answer. i guess is somewhere around in other table...
    Thanks!

  • I cannot get an answer from Verizon on this issue

My data usage has been rather annoying. it jumps from 0.90gb to 2.90gb and back. And I keep getting these text messages whenever the usage goes over 2gb. The real usage is 0.90gb. I tried asking verizon CS via phone and email through My Verizon but couldn't get a response. I have attached a screen shot of my data use. Has anyone had this issue? And have you had any success talking to Verizon? Thanks
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.

Verizon finally responded. Here is what they have to say:
"We’ve actually received quite a few reports of similar issues occurring for other customer accounts recently. I investigated the issue further and was able to find that a Trouble Ticket was issued to resolve an issue where customers have been receiving inaccurate usage reporting messages on September 27th.
An update has been implemented to resolve this issue that takes place on the billing cycle date for each affected customer account. In this case, you should notice the notifications will no longer be coming to your phone on or shortly after October 20th.
If you continue to receive inaccurate usage alerts on your phone after October 20th, please get back in touch with us right away and we’ll see what additional steps may be required to resolve this issue, but I trust that the inaccurate reports will stop coming to you momentarily."
We shall see what happens. Thanks again for all the reply.

  • How to get contacts from Verizon phone to iPhone 4S?

I currently have a Verizon non-smart phone (LG Voyager).  I plan on pre-ordering an iPhone 4S.  How can I get my contacts on the iPhone 4S?
FYI- I do have backup assistant.

Not sure. Haven't checked but maybe VZW will post another "Getting Ready" guide for the 4s like they did for the 4. You can also check the App store via iTunes to see if the current app works for the iPhone 4s. I personally didn't use backup assistant...I never liked how it worked  with my other devices (always mixed things up so contacts might have multiple listings instead of one and would place the mobile number as a home number and vice versa). iTunes syncing was quick and easy. I was coming from a BlackBerry when I got my iPhone though so I'm not sure if that's an option for the Voyager.
If you do some searching on the VZW site, or even Google, you can still find those getting ready guides. All the same info would apply, I'd think.
I know the info for the iPhone 4 is still available...but not sure if everything will be the same. Since iOS 5 will make it where you don't have to connect the iPhone to a computer at all there may be a way to do it without that step (which is necessary with iOS 4 if you want to use iTunes to sync contacts). You might be able to get your contacts on your computer from the Voyager and then sync them to the iPhone through the Cloud. Or...it might just be exactly the same as the current iPhone. That's why I was saying maybe they'll post another guide for the 4s. There might even be an owners manual PDF for the 4s already on the apple site. Not sure but if there is then some info would also be available there.

  • Problems with Getting Assistance from Verizon

I've had terrible and completely useless interaction with Verizon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and then again this morning.  I contacted them because my router quit working.  I received a confirmation e-mail on Monday morning with a UPS tracking number and a Tuesday delivery date.  Nothing arrived on Tuesday so I contacted them again.  I was told that the order hadn't been filled yet but I would definitely receive the router by Wednesday.
Of course nothing arrived on Wednesday (big surprise here) so I contacted them again.  They response was that the order got stuck in the system so they would have to start over.  The guarantee this time was that I'd definitely receive the router on Thursday.
Thursday morning and no e-mail, etc. so I contacted them to verify that they hadn't screwed things up again.  Of course they had and the best they could say was that when/if the router was shipped I get a notification.
Has anyone had an acceptable experience with Verison?

  • Mixed answers from verizon reps about transfer of upgrades

one rep today said to purchase iphone under upgradeable phone number and then when phone arrives activate under the number you want
another rep said you can upgrade under my verizon just like any other phone

The rep I talked to in a store the other day said they teach them something different almost everyday. So chances are, different reps are thinking different things.  I was told you can't call 224 on it to activate it because it already comes activated. You supposedly just unlock it with iTunes. But it can't really be activated already can it? You would still be using your current phone until the new one arrives. I don't think they know what the heck they are talking about yet. I use the primary line on the account, and my wife uses the secondary. She doesn't want the upgrade, so I was planning to order an iPhone to activate on my number. It wouldn't make sense for them to restrict doing this. One line is eligible, and it extends the contract two years no matter what line you use it on. I'm ready to spend more money than I ever have on a phone, and I'm ready to add $30 to my monthly bill. Why stop me from doing this?
