Inconsistency of screen

Ok, I think I may have a real problem here. It's a 1st gen and has been great up until a couple of days ago.
When just started the iTouch works fine. But, after a minute or two, when scrolling, I lose about 1cm of screen sensitivity (about 1/3 down on the screen) - when running your finger anywhere vertically the image follows your finger until this area on the screen and then the scrolling stops until passing this area. It does appear that I can select (tap) in this area, just scrolling issue.
Now, about 10 minutes later, the screen sensitivity is all over the place - scrolling issue gets worse, it thinks I've touched the screen and my finger is still a 1cm away; the point where I touch, is not where it relects on the screen. The keyboard still seems to be fine. Do I have an overheating issue that is causing this sensitivity/accuracy issue? Hoping there is news out there to help. Have cleaned, reset, dropped brightness, changed app/web page, etc.
Got a newborn 2 days ago and hope i don't have to drop cash on this one...?!

try the troubleshooting steps:
http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/troubleshooting/
if they don't work, it's almost certainly a hardware issue and you'll either need to pay for a fix or buy a new one. do you have an apple store nearby?

  • New iPad inconsistent touch screen response?

    Hello all:
    The touch screen seems to behave differently in some apps: The Paris RATP Metro
    for instance has a map you can point to a metro stop and its picked up and
    entered into another tab to find a route or schedule.
    In this app and a few others, you can touch a stop again and again and nothing
    happens. This is despit wetting the finger tip, pressing harder, moving the
    fingertip areound, etc.
    After many tires it finally works,
    In the majority of apps it never does this.
    Anyone else seen this behavior? If yes, what apps did it and is there a fix?
    I am trying to see if the app, the iPad design or a bad touch screen.
    Kind Regards,
    Jon

    Have you tried any basic troubleshooting steps. Close all of your apps and restart your iPad. Try rebooting the iPad as well. It might just be a memory issue .... Maybe .... But start with the simple steps.
    Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

    If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch
    Try these steps if your touchscreen responds slowly, inconsistently, or doesn't respond at all.
    If you have a case or screen protector on your device, try removing it.
    Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
    Unplug your device.
    Restart your device. If you can't restart, reset your device.

  • Worries about MBP C2D screen, please advise.

    Hi all,
    I recently sold my Macbook CD and upgraded to the Pro 2.33. But I've been seeing issues concerning the screen on the new Pro's and was curious if alot of people have been having these problems. The biggest reason for me upgrading was the display on the Macbook. I didn't appreciate the shared graphics, and the screen had a horrible ghosting effect when moving windows.
    So, my new MBP comes next week, I mean I won't know until I get it, but I was just hoping to have a basis of comparison. So if everyone could please enlighten me on two topics.
    1.)Inconsistant backlighting / screen color
    2.)Screen ghosting.
    Thanks in advance

    1.)Inconsistant backlighting / screen color
    Mine is working fine. Color is better than the MB, and fantastic for an LCD screen. I have the glossy screen.
    2.)Screen ghosting.
    Maybe a tad at times if you move the window fast, but nothing like the MB. Fans don't go ape like on the MB when doing something with video either. You will be real happy with it.

  • AS3 and 508 Compliance?

    Hi,
    When setting up Flash content to be 508 compliant, has anyone encountered any issues in tabbing through the buttons? It seems that the buttons' descriptions aren't being picked up by the screen reader.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    I've done (partial) 508 compliance with AS3 on a couple projects this year and last year. In the end, we decided to make the Flash version of the project "half-way" 508 compliant (which isn't really 508 compliant then, is it?) - we only focussed on tab navigation, not the screen reader. We then provided an HTML, text-only version for those who prefer the nice and simple HTML screen reader experience. I got lucky here and wasn't forced to figure out a way of dealing with full Flash + screen reader technology (but it would have been a great learning experience).
    Like you, Dan, I also expereinced lots of inconsitency with what a screen reader reads when I was trying & testing things in AS3. For example, there are two ways to set up the accessible name & description for a button - via the Accessibility panel, or via AS3 code. Either way you choose, it's done - easy to do...at least as far as preping your Flash file. However, regardless of a developer doing things perfect there, we have two other levels of inconsistency: the screen reader being used, and the browser being used. I can't remember the combinations of things, but sometimes I'd get a screen reader to read the name of a tabbed-to button, other times nothing would get read. Frustrating, indeed. It's not that I programmed Flash incorrectly...it's that the technology isn't standard or consistent enough. But, then again, my experience was somewhat limited.
    I don't have any answers for you, sadly, and can only to say "test, test, test", and search the heck out of it online. Luckily for us developers, the two top PC-based screen readers are avilalbe as free demos (though they only run for a limited time before you must restart your computer, which you may already be familiar with): Windows Eyes, and JAWS. A company in the UK also has one called Thunder that is totally free, but also behaves differently.When testing with a screen reader, it's also really important to learn each one's various keyboard shortcuts.
    Also, if possible, working with a user who DEPENDS on screen readers for their daily lifestyle gets you the most feedback. I never got to do this, but felt that learning how a person uses a screen reader, like JAWS, and how they use the shortcuts, would provide a lot of insight.
    In a nuthsell, I was only able to get complete control over a somewhat complex interface via tabbing. But I wasn't able to "conquer" the screen reader experience with AS3.
    Things really get hairy when you want to update just one portion of a  screeen, and have that new content - and only that - read via the screen  reader. Any asynchronously updated screen type of experience has these problems, though - Flash isn't totally alone. AJAX and other HTML/JavaScript experiences can also be limited, or be challenging for developers.

  • White/ gray banding at bottom of 27" imac

    Hi-
    I just took delivery of a brand new 27" 2.93 i7 Imac. runs fine, etc, but there is a slight issue of inconsistency of screen brightness. the bottom of the screen exhibits a band of brightness about an inch from the bottom, all the way across from left to right.
    Anybody else have something like this going on? any opinions as to whether I should keep it or try for  an exchange? I just got it yesterday, so I'm wondering if this will disappear or get worse as time goes on.
    please feel free to chip in with whatever advice you might have-
    Thanks, TD

    Thanks , baltwo, that's some good concise advise - right now I have a RMA from the people I bought it from, and I'll be shipping it out to the vendor, hoping to forestall the AppleCare trip so soon after purchase- but I'm still curious to hear if any one else has had a similar problem. The customer service rep I spoke to said that he hasn't had any returns on this particular model, and to be honest, one of the reasons I picked the 2010 i7 model was my hope that they had worked out the bugs by now. Go figure...

  • Splash Screen Inconsistent between CLI and JAR specification

    Unlike just about any other java API, the SplashScreen API treats jar-launched and command-line-launched invocations of the same code differently
    According to [the Splash Screen Tutorial|http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/misc/splashscreen.html]
    a command-line invocation of a Splash Screen application would take the form
    java -splash:images/splash.gif SplashDemo
    whereas a jar-invocation would allow the splash screen to be specified in the jar manifest with the notation
    SplashScreen-Image: images/splash.gif
    This doesn't APPEAR to be inconsistent but the implementation is in fact not consistent.
    In the jar-manifest approach the splash screen image is searched relative to the classpath implied by the JAR whereas the command-line version is searched relative to the current working directory. The documentation fails to explain this leading to lots of headscratching when, for example, a Splash Screen works right in a runnable jar but not from an IDE such as Eclipse. If, instead, the image was loaded relative to the classpath (getResource()) then the jar and the command line would work the same.
    At the very least, there should be an additional command line switch supporting this classpath-based loading functionality from the command line or failing that, better documentation of what is going on. Neither the tutorial nor the javadoc explains the CLI syntax sufficiently. I spent several hours of headscratching trying to understand this and I'm by no means a newbie.

    The only thing I can wonder is: why do you want command line invocation at all?Simple. In the field, I only want jar invocation. In development, I want invocation in Eclipse - which, under the covers uses command-line invocation.Good point, but then I wonder why you care that the splash screen works or doesn't work in Eclipse. As long as it works in the field. In fact, I would probably build in a way to disable the splash screen when running from the IDE myself - apparently it isn't even needed to do any work to make that happen ;)

    Complaining about documentation here isn't going to do you much good.There's lots of confusion about this on the internet. Just google it. I didn't find anything that gave me the answer, just references to Oracle's documentation which doesn't answer the confusion. That's now been remedied, though, by me:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6906267/debug-splashscreen-from-eclipse-without-generating-the-jar/8087881#8087881
    I thank you for your contribution. It is exactly this personal effort that keeps the Java community going...
    >
    Oracle really should do something about this.... because Oracle certainly will not. Again: complaining in this forum does nothing. Because like StackOverflow this is a user to user forum, not an Oracle tech support site. It won't be read and it won't end up on a todo list. Sad but true.

  • (MBP Retina 15in 2013) Screen Dying Inconsistently

    Hello,
    I have a 15-Inch MacBook Pro with Retina display from early 2013.
    I've been having issues that are hard to pt a finger on the source because of how inconsistent the symptoms are. My displays screen seems to shut off at random times. It appears as if it is asleep, except the keyboard backlight are still on. The computer is still active because I can use the power key to put it to sleep (The keyboard lights dim off) and wake it back up. (The keyboard lights return)
    The only way to fix this issue is to hold down the power button and shut off the computer. However even when I power it back up, the computer will try to reset (It shows the white progress bar after you enter your user passcode) However 90% of the time the computer shuts off completely (not just the display) when the progress bar reaches 25-30%. Sometimes it does not though, and I can use the computer fine for a few minutes before the display dies again and the whole process repeats.
    Another thing to note is that it SEEMS as if the problem occurs less often if my screen is fully open, so I thought maybe this is a connection problem to the screen, which would make sense of why the display turns off, but it doesn't explain why the computer refuses to restart the majority of the time. Sometimes when restarting the screen is immediately dead as if the display never restarted. (The computer makes the startup noise, but the display remains black)
    One final thing to mention is that sometimes if I listen very closely when starting up the computer, I can hear small clicking noises near the top of the body, near the hinge of the screen, although I'm not sure if the noise has anything to do with the hinge. I cannot tell if the noise is electronic or mechanical, however it does seem to happen whenever the screen dies, but not EVERY time the screen dies.
    I know that is all very confusing and inconsistent, but that is why I wanted to make a new thread - I couldn't find anything this specific anywhere on here. If you know anything about my issue, that would be very helpful!
    Zach

    I also just realized that my right speakers are not outputting sound, and this is the same side of the Mac that the clicking sounds were coming from. (I haven't heard them lately) Perhaps they have gone out the the sound was because of it? Does any one know about this issue?

  • SAP Screen Personas 3.0 - Inconsistent behaviours and features after installation

    Hi,
    Our company installed SAP Screen Presonas 3.0. We followed up Personas installation OSS notes and instalaltion check list.
    The Personas Health Check displays no issue (see below).
    However, we do get inconsistent behaviors from Personas 3.0:
    - Assign background button, Stretch button, Upload button don't work
    - Unassign image isn't possible
    - Fill color button and Bold icon don't work with a theme assigned to the transaction
    - Images and buttons aren't aligned when a flavor is displayed (compared to when a flavor is edited)
    - the link to personas via Chrome through https doens't work any more (after update of kernel at patch 22).
    Do you have any idea ?

    Some of those, particularly the image issues, are familiar. Others not - I've never had issues with Chrome, for example. Does https work in other browsers? That would be very strange. Not working in all browsers sounds like a kernel installation issue.
    There's a newer kernel now - pl24 was released just a day or two ago. There should be a new Personas client note tomorrow. I suggest applying both of those to see if any of your issues go away. If not, ask here again, but also create OSS messages for them to make sure they don't get lost.

  • I have just bought an iPad air and constantly get the screen with the stars freeze and can't do anything. Have done the power off etc, still happens inconsistent freezing on that same screen. Is this pad got a glitch?

    Inconsistent ability to unlock ipad at the strary screen. Sometimes it does sometimes not getting very sick of it freezing and not being able to do anything,bought this just yesterday! Have done the shut down thing but still get frozen out. Just when I think it's all good it happens again. Frustrated can anyone help or is this a faulty ipad?

    Try reset iPad
    Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    Note: Data will not be affected.

  • Inconsistent Actions With "Dim Screen Brightness" Key (F1)

    On the MacBook Pro, the F1 key is automatically mapped to dim the screen brightness. However, sometimes when I press this key, the screen shuts off (or at least goes to the lowest brightness setting) and other times it just goes down a single brightness point.
    I can't figure out why it does one thing sometimes and another thing other times. Is there some logic afoot here? Or just whatever MacOS feels like on the day?
    thanks,
    tom

    Could this be due to the present brightness of the screen or are you saying it could be at 90% brightness, then you press the F1 key, and the backlight turns off?
    If it is dark in the room, the screen can be at its lowest setting, then pressing F1 will turn off the backlight.

  • Inconsistent Rounding of Currency Attributes in Screen Labels in 10.2

    Hi all,
    I'm seeing some interesting rounding behaviour on screen labels in v10.2:
    Value -> Displayed
    $100.505 -> $100.50 [Incorrect]
    $100.515 -> $100.52 [Correct]
    $100.525 -> $100.52 [Incorrect]
    $100.535 -> $100.54 [Correct]
    $100.545 -> $100.54 [Incorrect]
    $100.545001 -> $100.55 [Correct]
    ... and so on. There is an easy workaround (the Round function) but I'm curious to know of there is an OPA lesson I'm missing here. Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    - Patrick

    Keep in mind that if 100.505 is being entered by a user into a Number field, it is only represented as an approximation of that value in binary form. What you're probably seeing is that the actual binary representation is equivalent to 100.5049999 - which when rounded gets converted to 100.50.
    OPA takes care of this for you when doing comparisons (e.g. a rule that says the value >= 100.505 will work, even if the value = 100.505). But when rounding an existing value for display, OPA can't help with that.

  • Inconsistent screens in func group in test and dev systems

    Hi Guys
    We are facing a proble where in the test system a particular function group (CIFI) is complete but in the development system it has some screens and includes missing.
    I gues this has happened due to some repair.
    Can anybody throw some light on this?
    Thanks for all the help
    Sameer

    You need to check the consistency of function group : check in SE37 menu.
    You need to check your transports to check if you transport all version in the logical historical.
