Inconsistent delivery balance after return with restocking fee

My client does not like the work around she must use to delete negative delivery balances after returns are processed with a restocking fee. Here is her description of the problem:
1. We receive this unit back from customer. When a return is created the unit is received back into stock and cost account is credited.
2. We revised the unit and decided to accept the return but charge a 10% restocking fee which means we will give back to the customer only 90% of what he paid for the unit.
When a credit memo is created, the customer receives the credit and the revenue account is debited. Also the base return document is closed.
3. However the system indicates that there is a negative delivery amount of $509 (On the BP master screen)  We donu2019t want to see that balance; there is no document open linked to that balance.
If I do the same process, but add the total credit amount to the unit price directly the system does not show this negative balance even though the total amount of the return document is different than the total amount of the credit memo.
In order for me to clear that balance, I needed to create a return, copy it to a credit memo, and create an invoice to offset the invoice.
Is ther a better way to do this?

The proper way to do it would be full credit plus new service invoice to complete this transaction.  The restocking fee s a new charge to customer.  That process will reflect the true financial transaction.
Thanks,
Gordon

  • Gave up, returned, charged restocking fee

Well folks I've been doing all the research, trying to make the best decision like many of you and after as much "testing" as I can do I've finally given up on having this phone and now must consider my options. I'm in my 14 day window coming over from AT&T and with the switch I'm activating 4 smartphones with Verizon. I was hoping to make this my first Android phone having been an apple user for the last 2 years and for reasons I don't need to go into here I was really excited with the prospects of stepping away from iPhone to give the GNex and the new OS a try. However...
I was unable to really acquire even a 3G signal at my house sitting in the living room on the main floor. The vzw coverage map shows that I should have 4G here and definitely 3G. First call to tech support did all the usual resets with no real changes on signal. And when I say "signal" I mean the phone's ability to actually do something with data. I'm not one to fixate on the signal bar and I simply try to open a web browser, open a few sites and run a speed test to measure upload/download speed. I even went outside my home and walked around the yard to see if I could do any better. Once I was able to get a bar of 3G for a very short time. Tried to open the browser- webpage not avail, speedtest- couldn't complete. Got the communication issues error message. Next I wonder just where this phone will actually work on 3G and if I'm lucky 4G. So I print a map of my town and set out to drive my favorite roads to the places I usually go, stopping at intervals to record my connection results. What I found out is pretty simple. Unless this phone is fairly close to a tower it will not work in 4G mode. And, apparently, it will have a hard time switching to 3G as it seems to be trying to resolve operation in 4G. I make that last statement because of this finding: I was about to box it up after an hour of comparing it to a Razr where the Razr could show 2-3 bars of 3G and open web pages and complete a speed test and I thought I'd dig into the settings again for another look and decided to switch off the CDMA/LTE in favor of CDMA only. I had tried that on the first day and it had no effect. But this time the GNex liked that. It almost immediately found the 3G signal and it then could load a web page and complete a speed test. Sigh.
Well, there are other details but this is getting long so suffice-it-to-say that if you are ok with digging into the settings and switching the network mode manually you might get this thing to work better than what most of us have been experiencing. I'm not in for any more frustration so I returned the phone today. Oh, and by the way, the other smartphones are iPhone 4S's and they have 2-3 bars 3G, usually staying on 3 in the same living room I had the issues with on the GNex. And of course, open web pages and speedtest results are good, better than the razr (in 3G) as I recall but that could have been environmental since those tests were done a day apart.
So the icing on the cake is, and I'd like your opinion, is should I think it to be ok that Verizon charges a restocking fee on a phone that they acknowledge has issues. Most of us agree that a software fix to change how the signal strength is displayed will do nothing to fix the radio issue and real world actual data transmit and receive. I'm not likely to consider wasting too much of my time further arguing for a credit of that restocking fee but I find it aggravating that Verizon would handle this issue in this manner. I've searched quite a bit (next will be a phone call) for a copy of the "worry free guarantee". I'd like to read exactly what that means and how it relates to defective phones. Perhaps that is where the problem lies... to get a phone exchanged without a restocking fee it must be so defective that it is "dead". In this case "defective" is a bit of a grey area so we end up being tagged just a bunch of whiny customers with expectations set too high. Thoughts?

Well, here is where I'm at... and I've commented on a few posts this evening... I'm heading back toward the iPhone path. As much as I wanted to throw some money the android way and as much as I wanted to learn this OS I don't think I can put up with any more frustration right now. I did have some of that with Apple when they said their new iOS5 would work on the earlier phones (3GS) and iPad 1 but that upgrade made my devices pretty bad. Slow to respond, laggy, bigger battery drain, etc. But anyway... the 4S my wife is now using (on VZW) is quite snappy and picks up a good signal. It is getting 3 bars where the GNex usually had none or maybe 1 but never lasted. Now add this line of thinking: If you buy your iPhone from the Apple store I think your customer service experience might be better as well. And I mean if you have issues with the phone. It seems to me that with VZW you get 1 chance to return (+fee) and the second phone you're stuck with. At least that is what I was told. I'm assuming with Apple they will exchange the phone (no fee) and if you do have problem they will at least hook it up and run diagnostics right there in front of you. I had them do that for me on a 3GS. Again, I'm not sold completely on either OS and really wanted to give android a try. Just not sure its time to play beta tester for the 4G network or this hardware. I may wait to see what this new LG Spectrum looks like. Although everywhere I read there are few people who like phones from LG. But the specs indicate it will have a great screen, removable battery and upgradable memory for starters. Good luck getting things worked out.

  • Credit memo with restocking fee

    Hello,
I've got a customer that wishes to charge a 20% restocking fee on returned or exchanged items.  Is there any way to create this on the credit memo or do I need a UDF?  I kind of remember reading something about this but can't seem to locate the documentation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Kind Regards,
    Lucas

Are the Credit Memo's going to be creating by copying the Invoice to CM
One of the ways I have seen people use is add a Freight Type called Restocking Fee and enter the amount in negative.
When you add the CM click on freight and on the restock fee line enter -xxx.xx

  • ATT restocking fee - waived after press conference ??

I bought two iPhone 4s recently from AT&T and both had death grip issues. I immediately went back to the store in order to return them (hearing that Apple had waived its restocking fee and was giving a full refund). Once there, I was very surprised to hear that AT&T was still charging a 10% restocking fee. I could not argue my way out of it.
As I felt it unfair to lose any money over a faulty product, I then convinced myself to hold on to the phones and wait for the "software fix" and the press conference.
Now that Apple has admitted to a problem with the iPhone 4, does anyone know if AT&T is waiving its restocking fee for those of us who want to return it??
    Thanks

Only AT&T can answer your question for sure. Did you phone AT&T customer service to ask them? I assume you checked online to see if there was notice of policy change from AT&T (I just checked and saw no such notice).
If you are asking for experience of others - I can say that I returned my iP4 to AT&T this week and was charged the restocking fee (after my best effort to have it waived based on it being an Apple product and Apple's policy to waive)

  • Order status is coming "Being Processed" after return delivery

    Helloo Experts,
We have a current situation here, Where order type (OR) with item cat (TAN) creates SO then delievry (LF) happened and PGI..
Due to some reasons the order needs to be void. Then the SO has been changed (VA02) by adding item cat YREN with same quantity, then delivery (LF) ,PGR and billing (F2).
Now after final billing the order status coming as "Being processed" instead of "Closed" at the document flow.
Does SAP standard practice supports this process flow OR it should be Return order (RE),Delivery (LR) and return of credit (RE)  to make the Order status  "Completed".
Is there any other ways to make these order's status changed from "Being Processed" to "Completed"
    Waiting for some valuable inputs.
    Thanks
    SM

Then the SO has been changed (VA02) by adding item cat YREN
with same quantity, then delivery (LF) ,PGR and billing (F2).
This process is wrong.  You have to create a new return sale order with reference to the parent billing document.  If billing has not been generated, then you have to reverse the delivery via VL09.

  • After Return Delivery to Vendor cannot remove shipping notification in MD04

    Hi.
    Good Day.
I would like to ask help regarding to my issue.
We had to create a return delivery to send the goods back to the vendor A. The packaging item was blocked and we created the outbound delivery via transaction MBRL with reference to material document when we do GR with the inbound Delivery A. After having processed all necessary steps including the posting of the goods issue of outbound delivery, the inbound delivery A is again open and expects a goods receipt of the returned units. This can also be seen in MD04. Meanwhile the supplier has sent a new "compensation" delivery, with a different inbound delivery B. This was goods receipted and with this delivery the complaint/return process is finished from the supplier's and our point of view.
Problem: What remains is the original open inbound delivery A. Currently we have no idea how to get this one deleted, but we need to cancel it, because there won't be a credit note and there won't be another physical delivery for this inbound delivery A.
What I have done so far:
    1) Tried using VL09 to inbound delivery A but there was no effects. probably because the inbound delivery A is already closed.
    2) It is not possible to set the item of SA to finished because we my use that item again.
    Thanks for your help.
    Med'z

    Hi Madhu.
    Good Day.
First of all I really appreciate your response.
I tried to change the first inbound delivery but canu2019t do much. Because all fields were block since it is already completed.
The system shows the error "The goods movement status (partially or completely processed) does not allow the item to be deleted."
I also tried to change the schedule line but it didnu2019t do any effect with the issue.
    Thank you,
    Best regards.

  • I will be returning my A505-S6005. Help me to avoid the restocking fee by reading this list.

About five days ago I bought a Toshiba A505-S6005 laptop at Best Buy. I am so sorry I did because this computer has been a pain in the **bleep** since day one. I have numerous problems or errors with the unit, but the system still works (to a point) and I would think that a Geek Squad agent would deem it as operational and I would be subject to a restocking fee. Here is a list of issues I have seen or experienced with it. Maybe someone can really attest that it is indeed defective and I can get all of my refund.
    List of errors or issues.
    1. Very slow startup. (This is a Core i3, but it does not seem like it. I think I would get better performance from a cheapie Celeron)
    2. Stuttering audio at startup and while playing media..(online media, videos, music, and normal Windows Operations, Windows Media Center)
    3. Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered error. Experienced numerous times during startup or restarts
    4. Completely blank screen while running on battery. Plugged in and it did not help. (After turning it on for the day) No backlight or anything. As if screen is off.
    5. Acronis True Image cannot find any Hard Disk Drives when running the recovery manager from the bootable CD or within the Windows recovery methods. (have followed advice of forum posters, all of which have failed. Have also tried to generate a system report which also failed.)
    6. Very noisy DVD/CD drive when burning discs (Makes extremely loud vibrating sound)
    7. Problems with camera sensing light in well lit room. (not sure if this is an issue or not) although it does not hapen all the time.
I think this is everything I have experienced so far. I am not sure if there are other issues or not. But there might very well may be.

I agree, go bring it back to them. If its within 14days they should not ask for a restocking fee.

  • Open Delivery Balance With No Delivery Note Open

    Hi all,
I have a BP card with a negative delivery balance while there is no open delivery note on the account (and consequently no link to the open deliveries form). The absolute amount of this negative balance is equal to the freight charge that was not transferred from a delivery note to the AR invoice.
I was wondering if there is a way to get rid of this negative balance on the BP account.
    Thank you!

    Hi Michael,
Please discuss with your technical guys, they will check the entries in back end and found , is there is dscrepency on database level or at SBO client level. After that decide whether your team will trouble shoot the issue or  riase a request to SAP concern person .

  • Cross Company Return With Delivery

    Hi friends,
I am trying to setup a return process with delivery between two companies using two-step procedure.
Currently Company A purchases products from Company B with a PO document copied from standart PO document NB.
When saving the PO a delivery is created automatically. (we use automatic delivery creation but it is optional indeed)
Supplying plant, here the company A, makes goods issue using VL02N.
Receiving plant, here the company B, then makes the goods receipt against outbound delivery using MIGO.
The delivery type used here is copied from the standart delivery type NLCC and the delivery item is copied from standart delivery item NLC. This is the forward process.
The movement types here are 643 (GI from supplying plant), 101 (GR to the receiving plant)
In fact I made the return process with a one-step procedure.
I assigned a return delivery type, copied from standart delivery type NRC, to the PO document in customizing returns to vendor.
And then I made the automatic delivery creation customizing for the PO document within related shipping point.
After customizing steps completed I tested the process.
When I save the PO, the delivery is created automatically with type NRC.
In transaction VL02N, I see the "Save Goods Receipt" button because this is one-step.
The goods receipt and and goods issues takes place at the same time in the same document  when I push that button.
The movement types are 675 (GR to the supplying plant, A), 161 (GI from receiving plant, B)
Here my question is to realize this return process with two step.
What steps should I follow to make this change? What can be missing?
Is it obligatory to check the "return item indicator" in return PO?
Related threads are helpful but I didn't understand which movement types should be used in two step procedure and how and where can I determine that?
Below link says the two step procedure should be done with 673 but
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPSCM/Returnwithdeliveries
How can I set this up?
    Thanks in advance,
    Yusuf Gezer

    Hi again friends,
I found the answer to that question.
The customizing that below path shows how the movement types are determined during VL02N.
IMG -> Sales and Distribution -> Sales  -> Sales Document -> Schedule Lines -> Define Schedule Line Categories.
In my question, existing movement type has been set  as 675 for "Movement Type 1-Step" field in related schedule line category, which is assigned to delivery item used.
(Delivery item is also assigned to delivery type)
In same customizing, also there is a field named "Movement Type" just upside of the previously mentioned field. It has been also set as 675.
Changing this "Movement Type" field, I mean upper one, to 673, the process becomes two step.
    That's it, everything works fine.
However, this change may affect many processes using the same schedule line category.
That means, if you copy the existing delivery schedule lin category, you'll need a new delivery item, and a new delivery type to use, for your system not to be affected.
    Thank you.

  • Question about restocking fee when returning purchase

I bought a black MacBook from an Apple Store 10 days ago, so I still have 4 days in which to return it.
Obviously, I'd like swap it for the Core 2 Duo model. However, I'd prefer not to pay the 10 percent restocking fee.
My question: Have others who have been in this same situation (new owners of an Apple product that was replaced by a better model within the 14-day return period) been charged the restocking fee, or do the Apple Stores generally let it slide?

Actually, when I had the problems with the very first one, Apple gave me two free 1GB sticks of RAM (in addition to the two 256MB modules already installed).
So, when I returned the machine today, I gave them back the 256 modules and kept the 1GB modules. And when I got the C2D machine home, I took out the two 512 modules, installed my 1GB modules, and then put the two 512 modules into my wife's month-old MacBook (which had the stock 512MB of RAM).
Tonight, everyone in my family is happy!

  • Pruchase Return with SD delivery

    Hi all,
Can we do a Purchase Return with SD delivery ??
Please let me know the steps.
I tired createing a PO with return item ticked  and exeuting VL10B, but no success.
    Best Regards

    Hi
Yes it can be done, first you need to flag the returns vendor field in the vendor master purchasing data,
This will give you a popup for createing a custoemr master for the return vendor.
Configuration is also to be done in
SPRO-> IMG-> Materials Management-> Purchasing-> Purchase Order-> Returns Order-> Returns to Vendor-> Here maintain the document category as F , Document type being used for returns and delivery type as RL.
Now create the PO and a shipping tab will appera in the PO item level, the shipping point determination is similar to the stock transport odrder determination.
Now you can create your Outbound deliveries using VL10B
    Thanks & Regards
