Indesign CS6 not launching / startup crash

Since this morning my InDesign CS6 keeps crashing on startup. I'm using Adobe Cloud and all other applications work fine. I'm using the software in german and it's  the first startup process ("Initializing"?) that immediately crashes the program. Everything was working fine last night.
I tried reinstalling, deactivating plugins and removing certain cache/registry files as explained in previous posts to this matter – without success. Please help ASAP!
My log: http://pastebin.com/r3ieNaYx

I see a newer post from you in another thread that indicates trashing your prefs solved the problem. Is that correct?

  • INDESIGN CS2 NOT LAUNCHING DESPITE QUICK FIX

I noticed the comment at the top concerning potential launch problems after applying the Acrobat 8.2 update. I have Acrobat 7.0 Professional. InDesign will not launch ... I have tried the quick fix which didn't work (probably because I have an earlier version of Acrobat). Can anyone help me out? I desparately need to get InDesign back up and running.
    Thanks

"The application InDesign has unexpectedly quit. The system and other
applications have not been affected. A report has been created that you
can send to Adobe to help identify the problem."
I have sent that report to Adobe twice and as yet have had no response to my problem.
It's not a report that is going to cause Adobe to contact you. It's just a crash report, and I assume (hope!) that Adobe software developers and testers will use those in finding bugs or making patches, but no one is going to write you an email saying, "Oh hey, I see you're having an InDesign problem! Let me help you!" That error message really should say "[...] to help our developers identify the problem, which may result in the deployment of a patch or update."
It does seem like this is caused by the Acrobat update, but it's worth it to try some of the normal OS X troubleshooting methods.
Do you know how to make a new user in OS X? If so, make a brand-new user and try InDesign again. Does is still crash? That will show whether it's a
problem with your user account or a system-wide problem.
Did you try to clear the font cache? (That's probably irrelevant.) Did you repair permissions? (Maybe relevant.)
I don't know offhand of any way to roll back updates to Acrobat 7. Sadly one of the easiest ways to find out if it's Acrobat that is causing the crash, or a change made by the Acrobat to another file or folder that is causing InDesign to crash, is to uninstall and reinstall your applications. Do you have your install media handy?

  • Firefox 3.0.1 will not launch without crashing immediately in 10.5.6

    trying to help a friend
    ibook newly upgraded to 10.5.6
and Firefox will not launch. it crashes within seconds of launching every single time.
I have trashed everything Firefox and Mozilla I can find in the HD-Library-(caches, preferences, app support) as well as the HD-User-Library-(caches, preferences, app support) and reinstalled multiple times without success.
Every other machine I use w/ 10.5 is totally fine with Firefox and i cannot solve this issue.
    Please help!!

It might be some FireFox addons. Some require you to do run an uninstall script, AIR.
Try something like AppCleaner or one of the many other free tools to search and destroy all traces of apps.
Try creating a new user account and seeing if the problem with FF exists with the new account. It might be some other conflicting app in the original account.
Check the console.app logs for information. If it crashes, the log will give you all the info you need to find the source/cause.

  • CS6 InDesign does not launch, gives a series of issue messages.

I faced an issue to launch InDesign when opening an earlier file. Then as a fresh launch also it gives the same errors.
It finally crashes, sometimes with a message that appears it could recover, by the time one can respond to it, it crashes!

Finally the world is back on its track:
ID launched and allowed creating a new file
ID opened the earlier file without a crash, files opened with its typical messages of colorspace mismatch, font missing, links not having files... sometimes these messages feel good
Re-installation has got things back. I had some doubts about these, but all works:
    - System was not restared at all during the uninstall and reinstall, magically it also kept track of serial number (so glad I did not have to hunt that out from records!)
    - No earlier windows restore point was required
I am glad all is OK now, but "what" was the problem? And what made it to occur? Any ways to prevent such thing to happen again?
    Thanks.

  • InDesign CS6 quits on startup after buying Adobe Premiere from the cloud. Need help, Adobe will not.

I bought all the versions of creative suite over the years and now just bought Adobe Premiere from the cloud. From that moment my InDesign CS6 quits on start up and they tell me that they cannot support me on the phone and to go F myself. I erased everything, even the preferences, reinstalled it and still have the same problem. Do you think this is a marketing trap, buy a new one and we will make sure that you have to change everything? Help, I can't work anymore.

Hi Jeff, here is a transcript of a chat I had with Pradeep. This should get you up to date with the situation. Meanwhile, i actually download the entire software from this address to reinstall the InDesign: licensing.adobe.com
Pradeep: As I understand you are having trouble with using Indesign CS6.
    Pradeep: Is that correct?
André Guernon: Yes, it was working fine like the rest of my CS6 premium but after premiere was installed it failed completely.
    Pradeep: Thank you for confirming.
Pradeep: May I know if you are getting any error message when you try to launch the software?
André Guernon: Yes, InDesign quit unexpectedly.
    Pradeep: Okay.
Pradeep: Before you get the error message, may I know if you are able to see the workspace, the menubar and the tool bars of indesign software?
André Guernon: I see nothing of the interface, the process takes about a quarter of a second.
Pradeep: I am sorry for the Inconvenience Andre.
André Guernon: Thats OK, just happy that you are here.
Pradeep: I wish I could help you with the issue but we (chat support) handle issues with  Download and Installation, Adobe CC products.
Pradeep: As the issue is regarding an old version, I request you to visit Adobe forums where our experts will be able to assist you.

  • After buying Adobe Premiere from the cloud, installation by (Adobe service), my InDesign CS6 quits on startup. Need help, Adobe doesn't want to fix this.

If you buy a cloud application while you have a totally legal Creative Suite Premium 6 it might stop working. Adobe made the installation by taking control of my computer. The girl did not seemed totally well trained... my opinion and right after that my InDesign stopped working!!! Now my If I call to get help they send you here because they don't want to spend money fixing that problem. So, I wonder if it's a good idea  to buy a new application from the cloud if you already are a good customer. It's probably safer to buy other CS6 or CS5 versions if you already have some. Otherwise you might be stuck to buy the entire package through the cloud even if you don't need the last versions. To solved my problem, I erased the applications with all the preferences on the second time around, reinstalled everything and InDesign still quits on startup. I have the same setup at home but this one does work.

  • Indesign CS6 not responding

I have CS6 design standard, indesign stopped responding earlier in the week, I can't remove it from the dock. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it a number of times but it still won't open. I get messages saying "You can’t open the application “Adobe InDesign CS6” because it is not responding." and "The application “Adobe InDesign CS6” is not open anymore." when I try to open it. All the other applications are working fine. I have it on my laptop and there's no problem with it there. Obviously I'd rather work on my desktop than my laptop! Also I don't want to have to go down the route of downloading and paying for the CC version when I have the software.

I don't understand what that is. I can give you all the information regarding the computer/software. Why do you need crash logs? The application isn't crashing its not responding at all

  • Indesign CS6 not so kosher

    Hello,
Please could somebody help - this is driving me nuts.
I am Running Indesign CS6.0.1 on an Imac (3ghz - 4gb Ram - Intel Core 2 Duo) using Lion 10.7.3.
I have designed a Catalogue for my company which is 85 pages. This is the first catalogue I have produced on CS6, but have been using Indesign for many many years with no problems.
The problem I am facing is that when I try to print the Book of the catalogue, it spools the first 40 odd pages with no problem, but then seems to randomly get stuck on subsequent pages. Like I said the page it gets stuck on is random, sometimes page 47, sometimes page 55 etc. I have gone into linked files and edited and fixed anything that I thought might be causing problems, to no avail.
I tried to convert to PDF, to then print via Acrobat. The same problem arises. Randomly gets stuck on pages.
I have now tried to split print the catalogue, ie first half, then second half.  The first half (33 pages), has printed with no problem, but the second half is now stuck on page 60.
In addition to this. on certain occasions, it will just crash. This to seems to be random, as I have been busy with the exct same actions.
I have deleted preferences & saved data, updated to latest version. I have tried to print on another colleague's Mac Pro (he has 6gb Ram - same OS & indesign version), still with no change in result.
Other than reisntalling lower verson of Indesign, and coverting all my documents, I am at my wits end on how to solve this problem.
If anybody could help - I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Grant

    Hi Dov,
Thank you for your quick response - it is greatly appreciated.
To clarify a little - The problem is occurring when I try to print directly to the Printer from Indesign. But I have been unable to complete the PDF export, as the same problem occurs when exporting, as when printing. I.e. The progress gets stalled on random pages. So I have been unable to try and print form Acrobat, or to even view the PDF document. (incomplete export).
The Printer we are using is a Canon iR ADV C5051 Laser printer.
I completely agree with you on need or lack there of, of re-installing.
I have just tried to split print the Book in 3 sections. To test if there are any problems in any particular parts of the book / documents, and whittle down the problem areas. This has spooled through & printed with no problems.  Unfortunately this is not a practical way forward for me, when it comes time for me to print these catalogues out in bulk. (I print several hundred catalogues).
Please see below for the Link to the PDF catalogue. Again I have had to export the Book in sections and then combine it in Acrobat.

Thanks again for your timeous response.

  • InDesign CS6 not tagging interactive PDF

I don't know if I am doing something wrong but I can't get InDesign to export a properly tagged PDF.
Can anybody please try the following steps and confirm the results:
Create a new document in InDesign
Draw a text box on the document
Type "Text" in the text box
Create new paragraph style called "My heading"
Under Export Tagging in the Paragraph Style Options select "H1" under PDF->Tag
Add the text box to the Articles panel
In the Articles panel fly out menu activate Use for Reading Order in Tagged PDF
Export document as Adobe PDF (Interactive)
In the Export to Interactive PDF options window both options for Tagged PDF are checked
Open the document in Acrobat Pro
    Open the Tags navigation pane
    Expand the tag hierarchy
If the document is tagged correctly one of the tags should be labeled <H1> . Instead min is labeled what I called it within InDesign <My_heading>. This is essentially making larger documents with multiple heading levels inaccessible.
Can anybody else confirm this issue or provide a fix (other than manually changing tags from within Acrobat Pro)?

I tested in InDesign CC. (This bug would not be fixed in InDesign CS6.)
I can confirm that this bug is still in InDesign CC (see illustration below).
I don't know how to fix this except manually in Acrobat. (I don't normally work with accessibiility issues.)
I'd suggest reporting the bug here:

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 not launching RAW

I recently started using Creative suite CS6 products, I can not launch camera raw from bridge. It pops up with camera raw editing is not enabled, you must launch a qualifying product. I would think that all the products from creative suite are qualifiled. Any help would be appreciated.

    jstandringphoto wrote:

Just make sure you have launched Photoshop.  "Bridge" is nothing more and nothing less that Photoshop's File Browser, and that's exactly what it was called in its first iteration, before they "borrowed" it for extended service in the so called "suites".
Inconsistency between or among applications in the artificial "suites" should come as no surprise.
The "suite" concept is a fabrication of Adobe marketing and bean-counting types.  The engineering teams are totally independent of each other, they are not only in different buildings but in different cities and states of the American Union, even in different countries.
The fact that they have little if any communication among them is highlighted by requests occasionally made in these forums by top Adobe engineers to let the other teams know when there are problems in one application that impact our workflow in another one.

  • Why is InDesign CS6 not in the list??

    Hello,
i have bought Indesign CS6 on the adobe.com shop. But the serial number from the mail they send me isn't working.
When I use the serial number he says: The serial number you entered is valid but there is no qualifying product present on this computer (translated from dutch).
This is probably because I only can select cs5.5 in the list with products and no cs6. Why cs6 is not in the list? Even after several times  reinstall.
    Help.....

It sounds like you purchased an upgrade.  You will first want to enter your CS6 serial number.  After which you will then be prompted to enter the serial number for your qualifying product.  At that time you will want to enter the serial number for the software which you are upgrading from.

  • Adobe Indesign CS6 not finding fonts

    Dear Support,
Adobe Indesign is not detecting the font arial narrow bold, narrow italic, please can you inform what to do.
I have reinstalled the font in the windows\fonts folder restarted and still experience issues.
I have reinstalled adobe indesign cs6 and still no luck.
    Please get back to me.
    Kindest Regards.

    durjoyhasan schrieb:
    Hi Jan Lotz,
You should keep the font arial narrow bold, narrow italic in the same folder where you keep your indesign file. Then open the indesign file hope it will work.
    Good luck!
Not true. At the very same place as the InDesign document is saved should be a folder with the name "Document fonts" and in this folder you have to put all fonts.
You should also take care if the font family include a font with these styles and is compatible to your OS. Best practice is to use OTF fonts.

  • Why is my indesign cs6 not printing black (k100) properly?

Indesign will not print black at 100% properly, but at 90% down to 1%, prints fine?

Nothing changed. Thats the first thing I though might be the issue, but wouldn't explain why the black at 99% prints fine and the black at 100% prints a washed out green/black?
