Indexing XML docs

Hi,
I am trying to index an xml document that we store in a clob. From my understanding of th XML_SECTION_GROUP, I would like to use that, but I am having some trouble. I use the following method:
create index indx_im_appl_document
on application(document)
indextype is ctxsys.context
parameters('filter CTXSYS.NULL_FILTER section group CTXSYS.XML_SECTION_GROUP')
Now, whether or not I tack that CTXSYS in front of XML_SECTION_GROUP, I get the error:
ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
ORA-20000: interMedia Text error:
DRG-12203: section group XML_SECTION_GROUP does not exist
ORA-06512: at "CTXSYS.DRUE", line 126
ORA-06512: at "CTXSYS.TEXTINDEXMETHODS", line 54
ORA-06512: at line 1
What am I doing wrong here? (Without the section group part of paramters, it works.)
Many thanks,
Amy Schmieder

There is no section group named XML_SECTION_GROUP. One is not created by default at install time, because the user (you) have to determine which sections you want indexed. Do either of the following:
1. specify CTXSYS.AUTO_SECTION_GROUP in the parameters clause -- this section group is created at install time
2. as ctxsys, do:
exec ctx_ddl.create_section_group('XML_SECTION_GROUP','XML_SECTION_GROUP')
this creates a section group named XML_SECTION_GROUP of type XML_SECTION_GROUP

    It appears if you write the document with newer version Pages and try to open it older version Pages.

  • I saved a Pages doc yesterday and today I can't open it because I get a message that the doc is missing an index.xml file. Help!

    I saved a Pages doc yesterday and today I can't open it because I get a message that says "can't open doc because an index.xml file is missing."  Help!

    Pages v5 documents do not have an internal index.xml file. When you attempt to open one of these with the older Pages '09, you will get that dialog. Double-click the document icon, or right-click, and open with Pages v5 to access the document contents.

  • Is it possible to create indexes & use them on xml docs with namespaces?

    I have put an XML doc in a BDBXML container which looks like this:
    *<ns1:note xmlns:ns1="http://www.testsch.org/ns">*
    *<ns1:to>Eric</ns1:to>*
    *<ns1:from>Brendan</ns1:from>*
    *<ns1:msg>How r u?</ns1:msg>*
    *</ns1:note>*
    Now, I am creating an index on the element "to", as:
    addIndex "ns1" "to" node-element-equality-string
    Though the index has been shown as getting created using the listIndexes command, if I lookup that index with the following command:
    lookupIndex node-element-equality-string "ns1" "to"
    the output is:
    *0 objects returned for eager index lookup 'node-element-equality-string'*
    Whereas, if I do the whole procedure without the namespaces in the document & the commands, the result is fine:
    *1 object returned for eager index lookup 'node-element-equality-string'*
    Can someone please tell me whether using namespaces, the indexes can be created or not? If yes, how?
    Thanks,
    Dev

    Hi Dev,
    When using XML, the prefix for the namespace is really just syntactic sugar. The actual namespace in your example is "http://www.testsch.org/ns", and that's the value that you need to use when creating your index:
    addIndex "http://www.testsch.org/ns" "to" node-element-equality-stringJohn

  • Anyone having a problem with the latest number software. Docs do not open Invalid. The index .xml file is missing?

    I have been having problems since updating to the latest version of Numbers.
    When I try to open files I am getting an error.
    "The document “'13 Tax Prep .numbers” is invalid.
    The index.xml file is missing."
    Anyone else getting this message? Anyone know how to fix the issue?

    Jeff Shenk wrote:
    Numbers 3.1 can recognize both the new files without the index.xml file and the old ones with it, which it imports to the new format.
    Agreed on that part.  But take it a step further.  If Numbers 3.1 is asked to open an old document that is still in the old Numbers 2 format that relies on an index.xml file but Numbers 3.1 can't find the index.xml file (perhaps the document is corrupted) then how can Numbers 3.1 open the document and interpret it in order to convert it to the new format? My guess is that this a possible trigger for the 'index.xml missing' error message.
    Interesting link here on the new document format.

    Currently in fusion we are generating a pdf file using given Rtf template and dataModal source through Ess BIPJobType.xml .

  • Problems while writing xml doc to a  file

    Hi all , in my project (of distributed xml databases) i need to write the xml files from the main server to the clients.
    These xml files i had formed by fragmenting one xml doc and i did the fragmentation using ....
    TransformerFactory tf = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
              Transformer transformer = tf.newTransformer();
              transformer.transform(new DOMSource(root),
              new StreamResult(new FileOutputStream(outputFile)));
    Now the problem is that on the client where these fragments reside..i m not able to do the indexing of the document properly ie...
    some extra text nodes with no values are coming in the index...
    i dont know how to deal wid the extra nodes that i m getting after parsing the file and craeting an index for the same..
    may be its coz of the transformer func i m using....don know(???)
    Note : i m fragmenting the xml files into text files using the above function and then sending thm to the client via sockets.
    Also,after fragmenting i am getting sumthng like
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    in all the files..is this a source of any problem....
    plz reply soon....

    You have not described how you "index" the files and what you mean by that.
    Are you processing them with SAX or DOM, or one of the variations of those means?
    Is there a chance that the "extra" nodes are simply text nodes with newlines ("\n")? There are usually a lot of extra text nodes in a file each containing only one newline.
    If you are using SAX, there is no requirement for the parser to collect all of the text inside an element into a single block before calling the characters method. You may get several calls to characters between the start of an element and the end. If you change parsers, you may even get a different number of calls, but the character data will always be the same.

    As to the <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> line, that is perfectly fine. It means that your file thinks it is valid XML. Whether or not it REALLY is valid depends on a validation of the file.

  • Table number xrefs disappear when roundtripping the XML doc back to FM

    I'm using FM 7.2p158 running on Windows XP on a Dell Optiplex GX520 with 1GB RAM. I've converted my legacy FM docs to structured FM, but my (CALS-formatted) table number xrefs disappear when I roundtrip the XML docs back to FM. How can I remedy this?
    Initially, I used my own conventions to name the table part elements as I have about 10-15 specific table types and I used those Table Tag names as table elements names (Invisible2, Invisible4, StepTable, ...), so I had 10-15 elements that were true "is fm table element" types in the EDD, DTD, and R/W rules. The table number xrefs worked as they should after roundtripping FM-XML-FM and the tables' shading, ruling, and Table Tags were correct.
    I consulted our XSLT developer for proper browser display of the XML files, and he suggested that I should use the CALS table model. I studied the Struct Dev Gd, then I searched this forum for postings on CALS tables and related topics and used suggestions offered by many of you good folks to create an EDD, DTD, and R/W rules to that end.
    I've run some tests using many iterations of my files (both CALS and non-CALS types) to roundtrip the FM files, but I cannot get the xrefs of the table number from the CALS-version table title element to display when I roundtrip the XML doc and open it in FM. I get this:
    -- In the XML doc text opened in FM, instead of "Table 1-1" for the xref, it leaves a blank space (although the source numbered table title is there).
    -- In the Structure View of the same XML doc, I see the following:
    - The CROSSREF element text says WHITESPACE.
    - Both the CROSSREF element and its source element continue to have the (matching) "Idref" and "Id" number displayed in this view.
    - The Idref attribute is disconnected from the CROSSREF element.
    - The "table" element is disconnected from its container element (TableAnchor).
    Once I apply the File/Import/Element Definitions command in the XML doc in FM, the XML becomes valid and both the CROSSREF Idref attribute and the table element are reconnected, but my xref of the table number is still WHITESPACE.
    The XML-converted doc source text reads:

    [entry colname = "2"][CellHeading]Value[/CellHeading][/entry]

    "If you're using WebDrive, you will want to use the options shown in on the WebDrive control panel."
    The CROSSREF Idref "BEHJCAJB" is [WHITESPACE] in the Structure View, so it's a blank space within the actual text in FM.
    I have excerpts from my EDD, DTD, and R/W rules that I can post, but would make this even more lengthy. (Sorry about the current length.) What do I need to change to make the xrefs work when I roundtrip the files?

  • How to use Xpath to query elements loaded from different xml docs?

    I have a big DBLP XML doc (95mb), to load into the container, i splitted the doc into many small xml docs by the publication types, such as articles, books, inproceedings, etc.
    I tried to use xpath query such as

    I got empty answers.
    but if i use XQuery such as

    where $a and $l2/title
    return <result> {$l2}{$a}</result>'

    is there any problem with my Xpath query and flwor Xquery?

    Hi John,
    Following is the procedure i have used to load the xml docs (after the indexes have been created):
    private static void loadXmlFiles(File path2DbEnv,String theContainer, File file) throws Throwable {
         //Open a container in the db environment
              XmlManager theMgr = null;
              XmlContainer openedContainer = null;
              myDbEnv env;
              try {
              env = new myDbEnv(path2DbEnv);
         theMgr = new XmlManager(env.getEnvironment(), new XmlManagerConfig());
         //use node container
         theMgr.setDefaultContainerType(XmlContainer.NodeContainer);
                   try{
                   openedContainer = theMgr.createContainer(theContainer);
                   }catch (XmlException e){
                        //if the container alreay exist, then open it;
                        openedContainer = theMgr.openContainer(theContainer);
              //Get an update context.
              XmlUpdateContext updateContext = theMgr.createUpdateContext();
                   String theFile = file.toString();
                   String docName=file.getName();
              //Get the input stream.
              XmlInputStream theStream = theMgr.createLocalFileInputStream(theFile);
              System.out.println("Adding " + theFile + " to container " +
                             theContainer);
         //     Do the actual put
              openedContainer.putDocument(docName, // The document's name
              theStream, // The actual document.
              updateContext, // The update context
         //     (required).
              null); // XmlDocumentConfig object
              System.out.println("done.");
              //XmlException extends DatabaseException, which in turn extends Exception.
              // Catching Exception catches them all.
              } catch (XmlException e){
                   System.err.println("Error loading files into container " + theContainer);
                   System.err.println(" Message: " + e.getMessage());
                   //In the event of an error, we abort the operation
                   // The database is left in the same state as it was in before
                   // we started this operation.
                   throw e;
              finally {
              cleanup(theMgr, openedContainer);
    Unfortunately, i waited for around 20 hours 148mb doc was not loaded; so i gave up.
    Could you please give me some suggestions on how to load the large doc efficiently ? thanks.

  • "index.xml missing" • Do I laugh, cry, or scream?

    After a variety of hardware problems with my iBook (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1523536&tstart=0), I have a new software-related problem.
    Some of my Pages files are acting up on me. When I try to open said files from Finder or from inside Pages I get the "index.xml missing" message (I'm using the iWork '08 demo version I downloaded today--I can't access the multiple licensed copy of iWork on the install disk from my IT guy until tomorrow).
    When I open the package contents of the problem files, sure enough--there's serious data missing. How could this have happened to some of my files by not all of them? (Hierarchy/where the files are located within my Documents folder doesn't make a difference. All the files were created by the most recent version of Pages too....)
    Am I totally screwed?!? Please tell me there's some way to salvage my files.

    Hello
    I met this kind of behavior when I tried to use from account B a document created in account A.
    As I am most often playing safety, I had a backup but I know than even if we repeat million times "computers are not perfect so, always keep backups", users will continue to miss this rule … until they loose some important data.
    I don't know which kind of code removes the Index.xml.gz files so I'm not sure that a file recovery tool would be able to revive them.
    You may try to use one of them but I can't guarantee the result.

    Pages 5.5.2 is extremely incompatible with even other Macs let alone the vast majority of PC and MsWord users out there, so not a good idea to leap into the fire with both eyes shut.
    After having done that to the first Pages 5 files, Apple has repeatedly done it to even the most minor point updates. Apple can't even anticipate its own erratic changes let alone what everyone else needs doing.

    Are you sure you haven't upgraded Pages on your Mac to Pages 5?

  • Pages can´t open a file due to index.xml is missing

    After writing 138 pages of my PhD-Thesis and I have only 7 days left I got the error message can´t open file - index.xml is missing - shocking! So I called the support because I thought it can´t be lost due to the fully active preview - only pages did not want to open the file.
    But I found a solution by surfing in different forum discussions and I want here to summarize, what to do.
    1. A pages document is an archive - unfortunately in the latest version (iwork09) it is not signed as such anymore, what made older forum discussions quite irritating - but the tric is to rename the file to.zip and unpack the zip file.
    2. Then it is possible to see if the index.xml is there (in my case) or if it is renamed to index-new.xml
    in my case it was just possible to open this index file in textedit and save it again - if it has been renamed to index-new - simply save it after opening as index.xml.
    the rename the whole folder back to a pages document with the ending .pages and open it in pages like usual by double click.
    just as small aid for all other users with important document
    please post herer if there were more problem or other solutions with this index.xml file
    Regards!

    I changed the file to .pages.zip and it still will not open up or unzip .. what do i do ?

  • Numbers 09 not working - I can open the program but only a few files are available, missing blank, checklist and many others. e.g  when I click on a file I get this error: The document "nmbtemplate is invalid. The index.xml file is missing. help.

    Please let me know what I can do to get my Numbers (iWork 09) working properly again.
    Here is what is going on:
    Numbers in iWork 09 not working can't access Blank, Checklist and many other files within Numbers.   I can open the program but only a few files are available. When I click on the file (which also has no icon just the name of the file) this warning appears:
    The document "Blank.nmbtemplate" is invalid.  The index.xml file is missing.
    I recently had to get a new hard drive installed and had the system upgraded and more memory put in by a Mac certified specialist recommended to me from the Apple store in Northbrook because this was the 3rd time my drive went bad but this time it was to old (I got the IMAC- in 2007) and the Apple store could no longer work on it this time so they recommended a few places that had certified Mac specialists.  Since then Numbers is not working right.
    I'm sure it's something simple to fix, but I've tried re installing it and that didn't work.  Appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?
